First off best valued omakase I have ever had! 13 courses (I forgot the a picture of the last course of a tuna hand roll) for $55 and it being a no tipping establishment. But the value doesn't mean low quality at all. All the fish were very high quality. Though I do want to note many of the 13 courses were torched which there is nothing wrong with that. Just sometime I feel like it takes away from tasting the fish. But with that said everything was delicious. We got reservations at the chef's table and we were able to interact with out sushi chef. Great quality and variety for an omakase, my only complaint would be that the whole experience is very rushed and you feel it. They have seatings every hour so they move things along quickly. We were done 40 min after the hour and they only let us stay a bit longer since we had gotten a bottle of soju and we were still finishing. They give you a menu where you can see what you're tasting, but they have two courses that are daily selections. For us those were sea bass topped with yuzu and onion and a tuna hand roll. The sable fish, yellowtail and scallop were my top bites. In general I liked that they give smaller rice portions so you can really taste the fish and it was well seasoned. Came here about mid June for lunch. This is a 13 course omakase with no tips. The quality of their fish pretty good. Foe drinks, we ordered sparkling yuzu (non alcoholic). Before they serve you, they ask if you are allergic to anything. They substituted course for me due to allergies. My favorites were orata, salmon foie gras, the shrimp substitute and fatty tuna! The others were also good. It takes about an hour for the whole course to be finished, they make sure to give u some time to order extra if you wanted any. I genuinely couldn't even tell you my favorite because they all did not miss. The service was top-notch, which is crazy given their "no tipping allowed" policy. Our sake glasses and water cups were never empty, and the chefs made sure we had plenty of ginger to cleanse our palates for the next piece. You do have a time limit so make sure you are there from the start as they serve everything within 35min. Each piece was beautifully made by the chef and our favorites were the salmon foie gras, scallop, and sable fish. Very quick service and all of the food was amazing! Knocked out after my flight and decided to try my luck with a solo reservation and was able to snag the last round of service (10:00 PM). All of the workers were very kind and the meal really flew by. Not sure if it was because it was the last service, but the vibes were very chill inside compared to the nightlife outside. My friends and I all had a great omakase experience at Mojo East! Thanks to the wonderful energy and enthusiasm from Tim! His energy was what our hungry group needed after shopping throughout Soho, and he made the experience memorable. Tim explained the different nigiri prepared as most of us don't really eat omakase often and aren't familiar with it. Also, catered to my allergy preferences and asked that beforehand. Reservations were made in advance, and they try their best to start on time, so be prepared to do the same. Toppings included caviar, truffle, yuzu, etc. Not anything too out of the ordinary, but everything was very delicious. The best pieces in my opinion were the seabass, the salmon foie gras, the scallop, and the unagi. The ginger was plentiful and delicious as well. The inside is a little tight because people are coming and going and waiting along the back wall, so waiting for your table can be a squeeze. At that price, I'd say it's cheaper than some of its competitors (SHINN, etc.) which are typically around $69-75/pp, and some pre-tip as well. Overall the fish was quite high quality, particularly at the price point, and we were seated promptly. Another benefit is that unlike some of the other spots, they have some additional seating so if you come early, you can wait inside and sit down (versus having to wait outside or crammed by the wall). After winning a giveaway, I got the opportunity to check out Mojo East for the first time. They have 2 sections with the main bar on the left and a smaller section in the back. There are hooks under the counter to hang your bags, etc. (this is a basic necessity imo for omakase - so a plus here) The staff were nice and the service was good! The staff were attentive and kept refilling our waters without us asking. The chefs entertain you with a spritz of gold powder in the middle of the course when they ask you to hold one of the nigiris on your fist. They also had no tipping. 5/5! I would rank Mojo East as entry level. If you never had omakase before, this would be a good option to get exposed. The price is decent for starters ($55/person) for 13 courses compared to others in the city. As for the food, my husband and I felt that the rice was flavored too strong, which overpowered the taste of the fish. The wagyu piece I had was chewy and had a residual tendon that was a bit unpleasant. They use Japanese wagyu, which I thought would be smooth and tender but maybe it's the cut or the specific piece I had. Some of the nigiris that I thought were unique and enjoyed was the salmon w/ foie gras. Other ones I enjoyed were the unagi w/ avocado, ebi-uni, sawara, chu-toro, and scallop. This place is all over my instagram and Tiktok and it has been on my bestie's and I's list for a while now. We made a last minute reservation for 6 pm on Halloween. The whole experience was about 1 hour and there is 12 different courses and a handroll at the end. It is $55 with tips included. They were all fairly young and I will say they move pretty quick compared to other omakase experiences that I have been to which are about 90 minutes. I really like how they had the menu next to you so you knew exactly what you are eating and you can order more at the end if you like it. I was shocked at how good everything was for the price. All the fishes were super fresh and flavorful and really melted in your mouth. The sauces were not overpowering. They only torched a like two or three pieces of fish which was nice. Even though everything moved very quickly you did not feel rushed at all.
