They also get the food out relatively quickly and the ingredients are always fresh and delicious. I went a few times and tried a few different options and everything was always really tasty. The crew present at our venue was able to get through and serve ~175 guests over the course of our evening, and from what we've heard, everyone was satisfied with their meals. I do want to recommend one improvement to the quoting process for catering. In initial meetings with customers, I think it would be beneficial to walk a couple through a calculation of the itemized food prices and quantity required - and then use that to generate a quote. We received an estimate at the start of our engagement with Nammitruck and when we received our draft invoice about one week before our wedding, it had more variability than I anticipated. We ended up working through the process I outlined above and coming to an agreeable price, however, I wouldn't have anticipated doing this a week out from the big day. They have this cilantro cream dressing with was tasty on top of the sandwich. The rice bowl had the same ingredients as the sandwich but with rice noodles on a gigantic bowl. The radishes, glazed tofu, daikon, mixed with jalapeños (that are optional) were a great mix. No too bad but far from the best and not authentic either. I am Vietnamese and grew up eating banh mi. If you've never had real banh mi before, you'll probably enjoy it more than I did. I got the BBQ pork banh mi with pate for $8.50 which is an outrageous price if you're used to getting banh mi elsewhere. Typically you'd get 3 sandwiches for that much but Nammi's sandwich does have twice the meat of your typical banh mi and can be found at Clyde Warren Park so I can understand the mark-up. I'm usually a fan of more meat, but it this case it makes the sandwich hard to eat without the fillings spilling out and also throws off the ratio of bread and veg. And I couldn't even taste the pate at all. First thing I noticed is the artificial purplish hue of the pork. It's like something out of a crayola box. It's not supposed to look like that. Search for pics of Vietnamese BBQ pork online. They must be using seasoning packets full of artificial coloring. And they have adapted it for cooking on a flat top. I usually hesitate to give a five star rating to a place based on a single dish on a single visit, but this truck has a reputation that precedes it, and when I did have that one dish, it was a knockout. With two friends in tow, we hit Nammi as the second of a five truck haul during Downtown Frisco StrEATS. After checking out the menu, we decided on a BBQ pork rice bowl. Nammi's menu board describes this dish in matter-of-fact terms, without the use of superlatives or "fru-fru" adjectives: steamed white Jasmine rice served with red cabbage saute, cucumbers, pickled daikons and carrots, jalapenos, cilantro and our choice of meat, the above-mentioned BBQ pork. Wow, What a dish! The vegetables were superb, with great texture and just bursting with flavor. The cilantro added an intense fresh note, and the "tang" of the picked root vegetables made a great contrast the with tender and very flavorful pork. I would expect to see such a dish in a fine restaurant, which, to me, is one of the hallmarks of a good truck: Great (maybe even gourmet) food served in small portions, for not a lot of money. My first time eating Banh Mi but it won't be my last. Caught the truck tonight in Addison and thought I would give them a try. Due to the rain their menu had been washed away but the staff was great in explaining their menu. I got both the regular Grilled Pork and the BBQ Pork to compare. The Grilled Pork was great, well seasoned and lean while the BBQ Pork had good flavor but was a little sweet (to cut down on this I grabbed a bottle of Sriracha and poured it on, which really rounded out the flavor). The pickled veggies were uniformly julienned and piled on top and combined with the crusty baguette really made the sandwich. The nammi bowl weighs about 5 lbs...granted it is half filled with white rice, the other half is filled with the ingredients of the bahn mi. The sweet pickled carrot and daikon radish complements the spicy jalepeno so well. We just went to Dallas to celebrate our anniversary and got to stop by their "wheels off" location in the Dallas Farmer's market. That bite was just as delicious as the first one I had 5 years ago. As I mentioned, this is quite the cornucopia of ingredients, and while they were pretty good mixed together, I simply wasn't a big fan of the dish as a whole (possibly because I had just paid $9 for it). The white rice was plain and a bit clumpy, the carrots and onions lacked a nice crunch that would have mixed up the consistency, and the bbq pork impossibly salty to the point where it was a real distraction to the entire dish. While it might float some people's boats, mine sank. No Stars Granted. Star 5: Would you eat here every day if you could? There are simply too many impressive food trucks in the area for me to not be able to say that I've had much better food truck meals than that at Nammi Truck. My initial review was based on a couple trips- but now, my wife, son and I have been at least a dozen times and I've eaten everything they make and I have yet to be disappointed. The Bahn Mi was the best I've ever had! More meat than anywhere else, fresher bread than the one's I've gotten in bakeries! The sauce is rich and flavorful. I had to get a tofu taco, just to taste it- it was very tasty...not something I typically say about tofu. My wife orders a rice bowl with chicken- hold the rice and she loves it! A little unique, but it is very tasty. We spoke to Tina (Owner) and she would be glad to make a tofu/chicken combo- my wife is looking forward to that! The Sliders are real good- the bread is a bit more sweet than the banh mi rolls- so if you like that, you can't go wrong. The service- Gary on the windowm Tina in the kitchen- friendly as can be and both have a good memory for frequent customers. A real Cheer's kinda feel. We love them!! $10 for a banh mi. The pork was not dry, but it was probably 6 inches or less and nothing better than a $4 banh mi down the street. After I opened the box and saw such a small Sandwhich, I was flabbergasted. It reminded me of the old Wendy's commercial with the lady asking, "Where's the beef?" I've been meaning to try a banh mi for a while now, every time i go to a Vietnamese restaurant the pho just pulls me in :/ but I was really excited when i saw this food truck outside the DMA and decided to finally give the sandwich a try and i'm super glad i did! I ordered the bbq pork Bahn mi and it was super delicious. I'm usually picky when it comes to toppings and condiments but everything meshed so well together in this sandwich..the cucumbers (which i never eat but LOVED in this sandwich) the carrots and the radish all made the sandwich incredibly delicious. The price was definitely high, I think I paid around $9 for it + a water, and I've gone to some viet places since this one that have bahn mis for $3-4 so that's the only reason i'm not giving it a 5. I had the Asian BBQ banh mi. This place does banh mi like Texas... the sandwich is huge. It's packed with lots of tasty meat and covered with a garden of vegetables. Try both sauces because they're both terrific. The bread is perfect. It has the nice crusty outer crust. The vegetables on top are nice and fresh and perfectly cut. I really wish I could like this place, the truck is adorable and concept is nice... but whoa, overpriced food that doesn't even taste good.. Methinks not. I've given this truck two tries and I've been disappointed each time. I even went to a catered event where the food from Nammi was free.. and it was still highly disappointing. As a Vietnamese person who loves Banh Mi, I feel that this truck serves subpar food that's not geared towards people who have similar tastes as mine. I love banh mi. LOVE IT! Van turned me onto it back in the day. But you know what's better than banh mi? When the banh mi truck drives up to your work and parks in front of your building like a like a beacon--a burning bush on a mountain top, except with radish and BBQ pork. And that's what Nammi food truck is--a burning beacon of banh mi. I woke up this morning excited because their schedule placed them smack dab in front of my work. You can ask the folks at work, I've been excited. Nammi delivered--pun intended. The bread was perfect. I've had some bahn mi where the bread was so French that it stabbed my mount, cough, cough, looking at you Potbelly, cough. But this bread was flaky and still help up all the ingredients the shoved inside it. And trust me, they got plenty of stuff inside the sandwich. I had the BBQ pork and it was flavorful. The daicon and carrots were supper sweet. The jalapeno super spicy. All the flavors collided just like they are supposed to. I swilled it around with the Basil Mint Lemonade and I was in fusion heaven. Alice Laussade said it best when she said it was like having steak and red wine together for the first time. You NEED the lemonade. Sandwiches are 12" for $6. Totally worth it. Suck on that Subway--$5 foot-long my butt. Those sandwiches TASTE like you are on a diet. The banh mi at Nammi taste AMAZING. And they have snacks. Everyone at my work totally covets my Hello Panda cookies with the chocolate cream inside. I pretend they are screaming and begging to be spared before I bite into their heads for their little chocolate brains. Yeah...I'm that person. Hobbs would be proud.
