One of my fave dessert places in Seattle! Among their regular offerings, I love the matcha soft serve and the baked goods like black sesame or matcha croissant. I've had a lot of matcha soft serves before, and this one ranks pretty high. Their matcha cheesecake is just okay though compared to some others I've had in SoCal. But my all time favorite is their seasonal menu, hojicha soft serve! Has a strong hojicha flavor and so soft and creamy! I wish they had it as a permanent offering. Their other seasonal cherry blossom soft serve was a let down though.. didn't really taste the cherry blossom. But I will always come back whenever they have the hojicha ice cream, and if I'm craving matcha desserts! The place is casual and we usually grab and go. Our friends took us here and we loved it! They have a wide variety of different coffee and teas, and Japanese pastries, desserts, and savory snacks. We tried the honjichi cold brew and tea, the black sesame parfait, the Sakura seasonal croissant, the apple azuki danish, matcha croissant and matcha parfait. My favorite was the apple azuki danish - so yummy and unique with the red bean paste. I also loved the black sesame parfait which reminded me a lot of halo halo with mochi, cornflakes, red bean paste, jelly and more! Tge ice cream was so nice and creamy! NO parking validation for dine-in and take outs. They stopped validating your parking ticket. The building parking garage signage read retail parking with validation is limted to 2 hrs. The other stores still validates your parking ticket . I specifically went there to buy a tin of matcha powder and a bag of hojicha leaves for home baking. Hubby found a table to sit down . So I added a sundae and ice matcha latte to the purchase. The total bill came up to $80 plus altogether. We dine in no more than 30mins. They still won't validate your parking ticket ?!!. This is a utopia for anyone who loves green tea! Several years ago, I found an appreciation for tea and now I can't live without matcha. Nana's has a large selection of matcha and hojicha beverages, their famous parfaits, soft serve and a good selection of pastries in their case. They offer a few different types of onigiris if you want something savory. + ICED HOJICHA CARAMEL LATTE ($6.25, small): After the first sip, I wished I'd ordered the regular Hojicha latte. I could taste some nutty roasted notes of the tea, but I found the drink too sweet overall, so asking for half the caramel sauce probably would have been just right. + MATCHA TIRAMISU ($7.00): This was a delicious cake in a cup! (Notice I said just "cake". I am not sure why they call it a tiramisu... it was missing the hint of the liqueur that a typical tiramisu has.) Regardless, the layers of light matcha sponge cake, delightful cream, and crumbled white chocolate made for a satisfying dessert. The level of sweetness was perfect for my palette. + MATCHA ROLL CAKE (~$6.50): The flavors of the red bean cream and matcha cake were extremely subtle, so I found it a little bland. I'm so glad that there is a Nana's in Bellevue, because I looooove their parfaits and I haven't gone out of my way to go to the Seattle one in years. I used to always get the black sesame one, but the hojicha parfait is also just as yummy. One thing that was disappointing was that they don't offer their hot food items from the Seattle location in Bellevue. Food-wise, they just have pastries and onigiris, but I understand that this location is not as big as the Seattle one. I also wish they had the purple sweet potato items year-round and not just seasonally, lol it is one of my favs. I'm also very glad that they validate parking for the nearby garage, because as plentiful as the street parking is, it is located in a pretty busy street. read more

When they opened their first mainland location downtown near the Amazon headquarters almost six years ago, they definitely made their presence felt with locals thanks to their parfaits with a distinctive Asian flair with their wooden interior structure that is supposed to resemble a tea house. Now with their second location opening in the Seattle metropolitan area in the city of Bellevue which opened in the Venn on Main apartment building, on 103rd Avenue NE just off of Main Street, Nana's Green Tea has truly branched out. A modern Japanese cafe that specializes in drinks and desserts that feature their namesake ingredient, this second location of Nana's Green Tea's menu features a wide variety of items including Japanese Teas, Red Bean drinks, Black Sesame drinks, Matcha drinks, Hojicha drinks, Coffee, and of course Sweets. We a group of diners who had a bit of hunger pains were in the area looking for something sweet to tide us over, we decided that Nana's Green Tea was unique enough worth trying and luckily when we arrived at their storefront the line wasn't very long as we had to make our decision on what we wanted to order pretty fast if we wanted to get a seat at one of the few tables they had inside of their restaurant as the place was popping. Being the summer season, Nana's Green Tea had a couple of menu items featuring the primary ingredient of Yuzu, including a Yuzu Soft Serve with Mochi which was served in a large waffle cone with little mochi balls for good measure, which one person in our group ordered. Others in our party ordered their Matcha Soft Serve and Vanilla Soft Serve, both served in large waffle cones, while I ordered a single scoop of Black Sesame Ice Cream. Our total was 34 dollars before tax and gratuity were added in, which was actually quite reasonable considering how many sweets we were able to enjoy. It didn't take too long for our order to be called out and we were lucky enough to find a long table for our party of eight people to all sit down and enjoy our sweets during the late afternoon. I really enjoyed my scoop of Black Sesame Ice Cream, as it was light without being overbearing with flavor, and it was actually two full scoops of ice cream served in a plastic cup which made for enjoying and sharing all the more possible. I was able to sample both the matcha soft serve and the mochi balls and they were both smooth with every bite. Thankfully they had complimentary water at their ordering counter as all of that ice cream caught up to us and without any water our taste buds would have been sunk without it. We enjoyed our time at Nana's Green Tea, as we had a nice dessert snack filled with ice cream and soft serve and we went about our evening. Everything we ordered felt truly authentic and original at the same time. I cannot wait to come back on a milder day and enjoy a Match Frappe or Black Sesame Float with Mochi as those beverages look truly unique and delicious thanks to the images on their menu that are right next to their names. I do wish that this location had actual food to enjoy like their downtown Seattle location does, as I assume that it is a space issue that precludes that from being served, but their Rice Bowls and Plates and Curry Plates so delicious that obviously I am going to have to make a stop at their original Seattle location. But this location is perfect for what it is, a simple place where you can order an authentic beverage or dessert that can sometimes only be found in Japan. Imagine ordering a soft serve treat and then taking in the sights and sunshine at the Bellevue Downtown Park nearby, that sounds like a perfect day indeed. read more

There's street parking and some spots you can park in out front. This place is usually pretty busy. I have visited this location multiple times. I especially really enjoy their matcha parfait. Oh my ganache, their hojicha parfait is amayzazaing. If you love roasted green tea, you'll hella love their hojicha parfait and ice cream. It was so flavorful and satisfied my taste buds! It was memorable dessert. Nana's green tea are for the matcha lovers/aficionados. Sort of like Matcha Maiko but with more desserts. You can get matcha lattes, floats, espressos, frappes and even matcha soda. They have a small section for red bean and hojicha drinks. For soft serves, they offer matcha and vanilla or have them swirled. For parfaits, they have matcha, hojicha and black sesame. If you're not feeling ice cream and parfaits they have a display case filled with pastries including matcha and black sesame croissants, rolled cakes, muffins, cheesecake and cream puffs. And if you're not feeling sweets, they have onigiri and a few savory pastries. The hojicha mochi parfait was beautifully presented in a glass cup. You can see the layers of hojicha jelly, vanilla soft serve with tea bean paste, hojicha ice cream and mochi balls with whipped cream on top. The corn flakes was a great addition to the smooth texture. I loved the crunch! For me, it was a personal size, but you can share...if you want. My friend got the hojicha warabimochi parfait, which was very similar toppings to the hojicha mochi but with jelly mochi inside and .55 cents more. My other friend ordered a hojicha frapp. They both enjoyed their orders. The interior of the shop was modern with wood and neutral tones. They were pretty busy at the time so seating was sort of limited but we were able to find a spot at the long table in the middle. It was dirty though and the table was a bit sticky. The plates and cups were piling up at the tray return/trash area. Off to the side of the tray return area you can get water cups and at the back of the shop they have a restroom. Overall, I loved this place. I wanted to try more of their items but I was already full from their parfait and ramen from Hokkaido Santouka nearby. They're expensive though. Drinks start at $5 and up. The onigiri was $5 each, the rolled cakes and croissants were $6+ and the cheesecake was $7+ a slice. But the parfaits? Priceless. I am usually a fan of Nana's and go often to both their locations in Seattle and Bellevue but today's experience left a lot to desire. First of all I noticed that everyone in the store was being served in to-go containers not the usual glassware that heighten the experience of the establishment. Second, the staff. My usual go to is a Matcha parfait with 1 change, I substitute the red bean paste scoop with black sesame paste. The Seattle store has no issue accommodating and their staff always inquires if it's due to an allergy. The Bellevue staff however claimed that they could "lose their job" for making such a change which, I find hard to believe given their flagship allows it. The staff member who claimed to be the manager claimed that "cross contamination" was a concern and that the Seattle store is " the first one so they do things differently". The situation basicslly turned into a 2 vs 1 situation, where both the cashier and the other employee were giving me pushback, something that has NEVER happened at the Seattle location. Personally, if I go to a Nana's I expect the same level of service regardless of location. Ultimately I was forced to order something else. This location used to be great but if this experience what I am to expect going forward then I say the quality of the customer experience has decreased significantly. As a green tea lover, I was excited to give Nana's Green Tea a try! Everything on the menu sounded delicious and I love how they serve both ice cream and soft serve, but we decided on the "Matcha Soft Serve with Red Bean and Mochi" ($7) as well as the "Matcha Soft Serve Frappe" ($7.25). The matcha soft serve had a good green tea flavor, not too strong but not too subtle either. I actually could have gone for an even stronger green tea flavor though. I loved how creamy the soft serve was and it tasted even better combined with the sweetness of the red bean. The only disappointing part of the dessert was the mochi. It was very plain and lacked any sort of flavor. It was definitely there for texture only. As for the Matcha Soft Serve Frappe, it tasted exactly like the soft serve in a melted liquid form, so while the flavor was good, I prefer to eat my soft serve as opposed to drinking it. The portion size was decent for the price and comparable to what you'd pay for a similar type of dessert elsewhere. There's a limited amount of indoor seating, but the ambiance of the restaurant was clean and modern. Not being from the area, the only disappointing thing was the limited paid parking. We were able to find parking at a nearby parking garage for $7, and other outdoor parking areas across the street were $15. Maybe there are better places to park that locals may know of, but we didn't find any. While Nana's Green Tea isn't the best soft serve I've ever had, I'd say it definitely has a spot in my top 5. read more

OMG! This place makes their own Onigiri! It was awesome! I bought a couple to take home with me (chicken karaage and spicey tuna). Yummy! In some ways, I felt like I was in a little shop in Japan, but a place that offered a cross-section of various kinds of Japanese food stuffs and teas (lots on the sweet side, but also plenty on the savory side, such as the Onigiri). My friend and I arrived at the shop when it opened at 10. We enjoyed their genmaicha immensely. Nice to sit and sip some great Japanese tea in a comfortable little shop. This is one of the busiest places in Bellevue! They have pastries, desserts, soft-serve ice cream and onigiri. Most of the menu is tailored around matcha green tea, hojicha, a roasted green tea, black sesame, and red bean. They make a wide variety of parfaits, scooped ice cream, and pastries. My favorite pastry is the matcha roll cake. I'm not a fan of the matcha latte, hot, or cold, but that's just me. The brown sugar matcha parfait rocks! Love the salmon onigiri! It makes for a nice quick lunch for me. I go star down because the place is run like a factory. Yes, it's busy, but would a little warmth, and good hospitality kill the wait staff at the front? I could use an automatic checkout system and get more personality. The dining room is Japanese pleasant. I love Nana's! I've been to the bellevue and Seattle locations several times. I think the only differences between the two are the Seattle one is bigger and has a food menu. Their drinks and desserts are sweet and very shareable. I wouldn't recommend eating a parfait by yourself. I think I've tried most of their menu at this point and my favorite item is the matcha warabimochi parfait. Their regular mochi is very chewy and flavorless. Between the hojicha and matcha lattes, I prefer the matcha one. Its' sweetness is customizable and you can taste the matcha flavor. I think there are places with better hojicha lattes in Seattle. The bakery items are fine and I have no favorites since I usually go for a parfait, latte, or matcha frappe.
