This place is legit! Portions were perfect and everything was hot and fresh. My food was ready right on time and brought to my car. Overall they're sides really shine! I had the Fried chicken (with white gravy which was AMAZING!) with the spicy greens and yams. The yams and greens are some of the best I've had that weren't homemade Husband had the 2 smothered chops with Mac and cheese and sweet corn. I think the chicken could have had a little more flavor. Cabbage was spicy as it say on the menu but tasted good. The greens were on point. No complaints. Sweet potato's were really sweet with a nutmeg flavor and a lot of juice in the bottom. All in all a good night. Probably won't get the chicken again but possibly try the catfish next time. Good food! I had read the other reviews and I thought wow each person has an idea of what home style cooking should be. So, I will break down my take. If you like creamy and cheesy macaroni and cheese, this was what your looking for. Some people like it differently, go figure. Green beans had a unique seasoning that I liked, not the same old bacon and butter or grease. Rosemary chicken good light flavor. The red beans and rice I thought had good flavor and not bland. Cornbread wasn't overly sweet or dry. Again some people like unsweetened or too sweet cornbread, some even like dry cornbread. Lemon cake was pretty good too. I drive past all the time, today I stopped and sniffed the parking lot air. I was doooooomed. Am disabled, so it was hard to step up on the curb, but people held doors and said hello. The staff is so sweet and cheerful! Lost my mind about the food. Gordon Ramsey wishes he was this good, has flavor instead of salt. I am hooked on the best meatloaf, sweet potatoes, and black-eyed peas, ever. Yes, homemade. I'm in love. Generous portions, I can get 2 meals from this. I will be a regular as income permits. You are what you eat and my poor old body responds well to good nutritious food done by someone who knows how to make it. Looking forward to trying everything on the menu. Went here for the first time today. The woman on the phone taking my order was kind, patient, and gave helpful information about the menu. THEN when we got here to pick up the food they brought the hot food right out. It smelled unbelievably good. The lady who brought the food was different than the one on the phone (different voice). She was just as kind and helpful though. NOW, for the food. This was the best meatloaf I have ever eaten in my life! In my LIFE. It was so good. My recent first visit, I decided to try just the vegetables. I got red beans, greens, cabbage and jams. I got home to find out all the veggies were the best I've had in a long time, cornbread too. So, my second visit I got same veggies and added black eye peas (good) with extra cornbread. I can't wait till this weekend to go back and try their Mac & cheese, green beans and corn. I will finally get some meat plates, but man these veggies keep calling my name. They serve Oxtails only on Sunday. They serve desserts on Saturday and Sunday. My friend ordered salads from here. 1. It was $60 for two salads...hell nah. 2. shrimp we got tasted old as if the grease they fried them in wasn't fresh. The salad underneath was wilted and the dressing taste like store bought ranch. I specifically asked for my fruit on the side and to substitute my strawberries, I was told that there were no substitutes and that the salads were already made. I ordered delivery through the yelp app, it was really easy to use and contactless. It was a Thursday so I was able to get the sausage links, Mac and cheese and cabbage. The cabbage was so delicious and flavorful I was surprised that i tasted a hint of jalapeño spicy. I've never had cabbage that way. My only request would be to cut it up so it's easier to eat. Also the sausage to slice the link since it's served with plastic silverware and styrofoam to-go box it's hard to eat but since I was home I just moved everything into a dish and used my silverware. read more

Food was pretty good. I had the smothered pork chop and the whole catfish filet, both with sweet potato and Mac and cheese. The pork chops were delicious but the Mac and cheese tasted like it was made with velveeta or out of a box, the sweet potato was too sweet for my taste, and the whole catfish looked like it was fished out of a pond, it was unusually small. Overall the food was good. I will say, the cornbread was nice and moist. I hate giving negative reviews but the thing that leads me to give 3 stars is not the average food but the horrible service. The employees were so rude, while on the phone they sounded rude, in person they were rude and when you walk in they don't make you feel welcome. I've been to places that have amazing food and horrible service and that alone is enough to make a self respecting person not want to go back. I do hope they teach their employees how to be more costumer service oriented because otherwise I would have come back for their smothered pork chops. Went yesterday, Saturday, with a couple of friends. I had heard great things about this place and wanted to try it out. The food was fantastic, service great. Don't think I have ever felt at home in a restaurant as I did there. All friendly, smiling faces. Now for the food. My friend and i had catfish, which was mouthwatering. My other friend had the smothered pork chop and I have never had a better taste of one. From the potatoes, corn and the awesome greens, could not ask for a better comfort food restaurant. Oh, and the banana pudding cake will make you slap your mama, it's that good. Check it out. You will not be disappointed. If you are in east Fort Worth looking for good soul food, you've found it! Great food, friendly staff, AND GREAT FOOD! Tastes like any grandma's dinner table on Sunday after church. The Mac and cheese is the best I've had from a local soul food restaurant and I've literally had them all. ALL. The greens were seasoned perfectly with the right amount of kick. I also appreciate their greens being free of stems. It all restaurants take the time to properly remove stems like the grandmothers did. The yams were incredible. The sides lacked nothing. I couldn't have painted a better picture. I ordered the smothered pork chops and my husband ordered the smother turkey wings. While they were both tasty, neither were seasoned quite how I like them. We added salt and pepper to both dishes. I still gave a 5 star rating because when it comes to me having to doctor up restaurant food after purchase, I've had to do a lot more to a lot less. read more

Ok about Nana's Kitchen. I try and support every business. So let's start you enter and you are greeted that's as far as it went. No one said here is a menu or where to find one. So my daughter and I started looking and found one that was all over the place on the chalkboard wall. Ok now to figure it out. We ordered a shrimp and fish dinner for 20$ and the wait time was crazy cray. The price was WOW That's 40$ for two meals that had one piece of fish and 6 shrimp. I ordered a meatloaf for my grandson and I guess one of the owners daughters came in with a grand baby and ordered meatloaf guess who got my order even though I was there first. Ok so being family has perks. Food review the fish and shrimp was seasoned well but the fish broke up and was under cooked. The potato salad had way to much sugar in it. The deserts were awesome. So at the end of the day 60$ for a small hole in the wall place ok for some not me. Had the portions matched the price then yeah. I won't be going back anytime soon. Maybe if I'm in the neighborhood I'll stop and get that bomb organic tea and deserts only. read more

We had the smothered pork chips, spaghetti chicken and chicken fried chicken, with pinto beans, mashed potatoes, kernel corn and mashed potatoes for sides. The beans with the cornbread are a meal themselves. The taste is great, home cooking the way its supposed to be. The serving sizes are great.
