Think of a chicken pot pie, except it's a pizza! Located in the Greenwood Center strip mall. Nancy's Pizzeria shares the parking lot with four other businesses. Depending on the time of day parking can be a bit tricky. While it doesn't seem that big from the outside, Nancy's has a spacious, well maintained dining room for its size. I showed a few min early and know we are in the midst of covid. The women behind counter comes out has face cover on pulls it down to ask me my name. Puts it back up goes behind the counter, says it will be a few more minutes. There is shield where at the counter and she starts answering the phone with mask around her chin. Then the cook comes out to ask my name with no mask on at all. Then I say why aren't you wearing a mask!!! The cook comes out again now he a mask on. So when I got home with pizza the crust was soggy. I only live 20mins away. I will never go back. Btw I just threw the pizza in the garbage. My wife and I LOVE Nancy's Extra Thin pizza. The pastas are all outstanding! We like the meat gravy (sauce). Good Italian food at a reasonable price. Salad Bar and Soup are very good. I don't know who they get their mozzarella cheese from, but it is outstanding and not salty like most pizzas are. Italian sausage big and sweet peppers are delicious. Meat balls are the size of league balls and very, very tasty. We just love Nancy's and for us it just doesn't get better and we have eaten in many Italian Restaurants. This is such an amazing place! Nancy's Pizza is full of great deals and incredibly delicious foods. All of the food here can really satisfy your cravings and can really fill you up. Ordered delivery completely based upon the Yelp reviews and we were completely disappointed. I've been on yelp for many years and I'm starting to not trust it. This place does not deserve 4 to 4 1/2 stars. The delivery was great, it was even early. But the pizza itself was barely what I would qualify as thin crust. It was more like a medium crust, kind of chewy, not that great. We like very thin crispy crusts. We even put it in the oven to try to crisp it up a little bit and it didn't work. The sauce and the sausage were good. But it was not a thin crispy pizza. We also got a Caesar salad for almost 9 dollars. It was wilted Romain lettuce with canned shake Parmesan cheese, not flakes like it should be, and cut up pieces of stale bread. That's it. All in all, a very disappointing pizza and salad. We wanted to try someplace different and we wish we hadn't. I'm being generous with three stars because our delivery guy was so charming and nice. read more

I have ordered here in the past, but it's typically not my go-to pizza place in the area. Tonight, my boyfriend and I were hungry and he was craving pizza. After months of not returning, I (regretfully) suggested Nancy's. He said that was fine and we decided to place an order. The gentleman, whom I believe was the owner, on the phone assured us multiple times that we did want the location on Golf Road. This was a nice reminder since there are other Nancy's locations, but after the fourth time, I didn't need to be reminded. For my boyfriend, we ordered a medium extra thin pizza with sausage and extra cheese. For myself, I got a small extra thin pizza with no cheese, ground beef and tomato. We also got an order of the tomato bread and a cannoli. After each thing we ordered, the gentleman would say, "okay, it'll be ready in ___ minutes." I had to tell him twice that we needed to add to our order. Anyways, about a half hour later, we picked up the food and it was just shy of $35. No complaining here. Once we got home, my boyfriend liked his pizza. The toppings were correct and it was extra thin. My pizza, however, was a much thicker crust. I don't mind a thicker crust but the problem I had was the taste of the pizza. The ground beef had no seasoning/taste. The crust was extremely mushy. It wasn't crispy until I got to the edge. It had a texture as if the pizza was not fully cooked in the middle. It was horrible. The tomato bread was very greasy as well. The cannoli was great. I would order that again. Unfortunately, it's almost 11pm and we are about to go grab some Taco Bell because I didn't have much of a dinner. To the owner- I would advise not enabling the online ordering feature here on Yelp and Grubhub if you're going to use the "fee" you have to pay when someone uses online ordering, against your customers. You have honored a 50% coupon in the past with online ordering and claim to never have done it, yet I can recall your younger delivery guy honoring it a off a few weeks ago. 3 stars solely goes towards the quality of your stuffed pizza, the best! It's a family owned restaurant, and they have a couple other locations. I realized when I looked at the menu that they also own the Nancy's in Harwood Heights, which I've been to many times. Eating here does evoke a feeling of Little Italy (the homey decor, the piped-in music, the salad bar). I came here with some friends celebrating a birthday. They preferred deep dish. I prefer thin crust but their thin crust isn't very thin. I ordered the meat lovers pizza. They were not kidding about a meat lovers pizza. More like a meat heaven pizza. Lots and lots of sausage , bacon and pepperoni. The flavors were amazing. Great quality ingredients. I called on a Monday as a new customer expecting half pizza day, not only was it not half day, if was screw up your order day. I asked for extra sauce, which was on the ticket and wasn't done. I asked for little cheese, wasn't done and wasn't on the ticket. Second, whoever wrote the ticket didn't add anything or use any prices. He just decided it was 50 bucks for 3 items and charged me 50. This place embodies everything that a Midwest, Chicago style, saying "melk" and "pellow" instead of "milk" and "pillow" type of joint that I love in the burbs. The walls are decked with various forms of memorabilia...softball team sponsorships, united way plaques from the 80's and who knows where they got that decor. Ambiance aside, this place has incredible pizza and pasta. I have been here numerous times and am a huge fan of the oohey-goohey lasagna with the mozz melted/toasted just right on top of a pile of meaty-cheesy-goodness. To top it off, the salad bar is really fresh and lots of veggies including breadsticks. From what I remember, their sandwiches are also worth trying. Fresh tomato sauce with a few chunks of tomato and plenty of garlic? Hell-yea! Loaded with ingredients like sausage, spinach, mushrooms and stringy melted four-cheese blend? Hell-yea! Since my boyfriend lives within walking distance, we were really excited to discover this place! We usually get their thin crust pizza's because they have this coupon on the back of their take out menu that gives you 2 12" thin crust pizza's with up to 3 toppings each for only $13.99 plus tax! (which comes out to be $15.18) It's a lot of really good food for a really good price! Just today, we tried our first stuffed pizza from there and it was one of the best deep dish pizza's I've ever had! I would say it ranks just below Lou Malnati's and I am a HUGE fan of Lou's pizza! (They are also a few bucks cheaper than the Giordana's a few doors down.) We had the Nona's Special with the sausage, green peppers, mushrooms and onions and it was awesome! (There's also a $2 off coupon on the menu that can be used towards any pizza.) We usually order ahead and pick up our food, but one time we dined in and got their ribs. I'm a huge pizza fan. I could literally scarf it daily, if my middle-aged expanding gut allowed. It doesn't. Nancy's serves one of the best stuffed crust, deep dish pizzas in Chicagoville. The reason I love it, is because of their sauce. It's a bit sweet, but also slightly herbaceous and savory, while retaining a bit of acidity. It would also be perfect over pasta, now that I think of it. I'd put it up there against Lou Malnati's and Original Gino's East. Though Nancy's crust isn't as greasy (or interesting) as Lou & Gino's ;). Last night we had the 4 cheese with pepperoni. My eyes rolled back in my head, when I tasted it's deliciousness. It came to the table so hot and fresh, that huge long strings of gooey melted cheese had to be cut away, to free each slice from the stuffed crust mother ship. Second reason I'm a fan is because their prices are better than other pizza joints in Chicagoland. Family-style cheaper. Third reason I'm a fan is speed. Our appetizers hit the table in less than 5 minutes, and our stuffed-crust pizza came in less than 35 minutes. The menu says you should be prepared to wait 45 minutes. Perhaps ours was faster because we were there for an early dinner, before 6:00 pm. Lesson: The early bird gets served ultra fast. Decor is old-school dark wood Italian eatery. Nothing spectacular or disappointing. A little older and worn, but clean. Ambiance is friendly, not too loud, a little subdued, with forgettable muzak in the background. Don't go expecting urban hipness. You can't be hip and in a pizza coma anyway. And order the stuffed-pizza, because you'll need the carbs to survive our harsh Chicagoville winters. read more

My fiance and I recently, (well two years ago, but time sure does fly!) moved to Austin, TX, where the best pizza comes from the Costco food court! We came about an hour before official closing time, and ordered a stuffed with spinach, basil, onion and garlic, along with a pitcher of beer. The pizza did not disappoint, with a HUGE portion of fresh chunks of garlic on top of the second layer of dough and sauce, with all other ingredients fresh and tasty! This just may be the best pizza I've ever had, and trust me, in 40 years of knowing Chicago-style pies, this is no small feat. I have heard of Nancy's Pizza for quite some time but today was my first opportunity to try it as I was hungry and really wanted deep dish pizza. I saw prior yelp reviews and met the owner previously at a chamber of commerce event so my expectations were high going in. The restaurant was in a small strip mall and if I was not diligently on the look out for it I would have driven past it. Apparently even my gps didn't know where it was. The restaurant was a nice small cozy place with the red and white checkered tablecloths- it was right out of a movie. I picked up my large deep dish spinach pizza from the owner Fred and chatted with him for a few minutes. It was apparent his customers knew him well. Now the smell of the pizza in my car was driving me nuts and my dog was looking interested too but I did manage to contain myself and restrain my pooch from munching it prior to getting home. The pizza was hot and sliced all the way through. Its always annoying when they only cut it partially or don't cut it at all. After the first bight I was in pizza nirvana. No joke, texture, flavor and balance were in perfect harmony. The crust was thicker than I anticipated but nice and crunchy. The cheese was stringy and it had lots of spinach. The sauce was slightly spicy and the flavors alleviated any need for hot peppers, oregano or Parmesan. I used to be a fan of Giordano's and Edwardo's but I'm not sure I can even palate that after this experience. If there is such an experience as a pizza orgasm this is definitely it. Hmm now I will have to try their deep dish with sausage and their thin crust pizza... yes I'm full from eating half the pizza and still dreaming of eating more. As if this wasn't enough the menu has coupons, $2 off, free pizzas , free soda or 2- 12inch thin crust pizzas for $15=O. Its a nine mile drive for me well worth it. P.S. Of course, I went straight to yelp and it directed me to Nancy's. A couple reasons they get 5-stars: 1. The deep dish pizza was awesome. I don't think I'm a convert from New York style but it was damn good. Like, I may crave deep dish at times from now on good. 2. I ordered food online and after an hour called to see where it was... apparently they didn't get the order via online. So close to home and our favorite "go to" for pizza had closed!!! So we tried this place. Did dine in once n carry out twice. First time was carry out. Was good. Just thin crust sausage n thin veggie. Wanted to dine in to try their stuffed cuz it looked so good sitting at the others' tables when we were picking up our thin crust order. Stuffed was good but I found the crust's edges a bit too crunchy n hard. Kids ordered spaghetti n meatballs. Meatballs were good! But the spaghetti was not. Sauce tasted a bit too "chef boy ar dee" to me. How does an Italian restaurant not make good spaghetti? Maybe they're just known for their pizza. Salad bar for $4 can be added to your meal. Came here with my boyfriend yesterday for the first time! I got the chicken parmigiana which came with salad bar and spaghetti! Salad bar was great! Veggies were fresh and dressing was very tasty! 1st and last time. So my wife and I went there last night for the first time. Bad experience. There is nothing there worth going back for. The restaurant itself was "dumpy", old, small, and cramped. The bathroom smelled like a septic tank. The restaurant is under a negative pressure so anytime someone opens the front door, huge amounts of outside air (it was very cold last night) came in and made it very chilly for all the customers. every minute or two we got blasted with cold air. plenty of ways to fix that, but I guess the owners don't care. I should have just got pizza, but I've had pizza from a different Nancy's before and did not like it. The sausage was fatty and grizzly, it ruined the whole pizza. You can tell that the clientele was a bunch of locals and regulars who frequent this place and have no idea what good food is and what a nice restaurant is supposed to be. Everything about this place including the store front and parking lot was bad. The food was especially bad. the salad bar was a joke. its literally like 6 feet long (very small and cramped) with very limited selection. worst I've ever seen. the salad bar at Chucky Cheese puts this one to shame. They ran out of plates. I had to ask a worker to get us some. he brought over 6" desert plates, which is apparently what they use for salad plates over there. ridiculous. no room to put anything on there. I had cheese ravioli and my wife had chicken marsala. we shared. the ravioli was "ok" at best. very salty and overcooked. marinara was not good either. The chicken marsala was nasty. my piece was downright gross. lots of fat and ligaments in my chicken breast. How dare they serve that to someone. I should have sent it back. I could only eat certain pieces of it - the rest was all fat. very disappointing and disgusting. the marsala sauce flavor was not very good either. read more

Mrs B wanted to have a deep dish pizza; so we scrounged around in our vault of two-fers and deals, and found a half-price coupon for Nancy's. This was not the first time we ate at Nancy's, we have gone there for deep dish pizza from the days that Niles was a primordial swamp. We had not been there for at least a year - because I am not permitted to eat a lot of fatty foods. Nancy's has been there since dinosaurs immigrated to Niles in the 1950s and 1960s. It has been a favorite place for Niles families and couples who like Chicago style pizza, and don't want to travel out of the way to Chicago. Over the 30+ years I have come to Nancy's, I don't think that they have redecorated or changed the place substantially. It is a bit dark, but not in a "romantic" way. There are no notable adornments nor pictures posted on the wall. One can quibble over what place makes the best pizza; but I really don't get too excited about that: I find all of the local establishments pretty much acceptable. Their menu does offer other items, and they have a modest salad bar to either supplement your meal, or order the salad bar alone. During the course of the week, they offer specials and half-price deals. Their pizzas are made fresh, and you will wait 30-40 minutes to have them prepare the food; but it is worth the wait.
