We really enjoyed Napa Kitchen and Wine. The place was packed when we first got there but they seated us right on time. Our server, Madeline, was very attentive and gave us some recommendations that didn't disappoint. Considering this place just opened, we were very surprised how great the service and food was. Usually we venture closer to city to go out to eat so we are very excited to have somewhere new in Midlothian that has a great atmosphere and food. This restaurant has gone downhill so fast. I ordered the short rib gnocchi tonight... it used to just melt in your mouth, absolutely amazing. Tonight it was awful... the sauce was a very soupy broth and every piece of meat I received was fat, not even edible. They made it right by taking it off by bill but it's really a shame... they were so amazing when they first opened. They are charging top dollar prices for very mediocre meals. Bring back the original chef/ingredients or whatever has changed. But for now I will be going other places when I want a delicious meal. read more

Had dinner with some friends, was put off as we sat down as the table was not stable and seemed to move at the slightest touch. Left it alone as I saw no point in raising a fuss with the (likely) inattentive hosts/hostesses. Our server however was attentive, bright and welcoming as was the general vibe and ambience to the restaurant. I ordered the shrimp risotto which was surprisingly very good! However my girlfriend and one of our friends ordered the cacio e pepe. This was an inspired, cynical take which puts truffles on a simple classic and ruins the whole thing in a capitalistic attack on your wallet and your senses. The truffle overpowers everything else, the noodles -not pasta, not spaghetti but noodles- were soggy and the amount of earthy truffle sauce was far too much. By far the worst dish I've tasted in recent memory. If you're a wine fanatic or into nice atmospheres, perhaps they can avert your taste buds from the struggling dishes on the menu. Perhaps you'll get lucky with a risky dish like risotto but overall I would not recommend this place to anyone who cares about food more than superficial aesthetics. read more

The ambiance and staff were a huge plus. At times our server took a while to return to us, but in fairness, we are in a season of staffing shortages. I was impressed with the ease of requesting assistance from any available staff and their willingness to jump right in. It's also open, clean, bright, and very relaxed. I had a Margharita pizza which was just ok, some delicious fried oysters, and one outstanding lemon martini. Reading other reviews, it's relatively new, so it may take some time to perfect the menu. I would love for Napa Kitchen to do a better job of explaining its concept to its patrons. I noticed wine machines while dining, but no one mentioned them. As a Napa Valley wine lover, I expected various wine choices to sample. A maximum of two offerings for sampling on the menu; some only offered one and others none, which was disappointing especially. It's not like they are incurring the cost of free samples I can't say I would return on my own accord, but since it's my birthday and a second set of friends is taking me back tonight, we will see if the food experience improves. The consensus among my party was that the menu offerings didn't compliment the setting. Additionally, the wine offerings were weird. Came here for Mother's Day and it didn't disappoint! Thank you Peyton for being our server this evenin. I had the primavera with the added grilled chicken and it was so good! I got full while eating it but still finished the bowl, it was a big size too. Apps were good, my family ordered meatballs, tuna nachos and margherita pizza and it was all tasty and we finished it. We ate at this restaurant this afternoon and it was an immense disappointment. We were seated, and no one came to bring us water or take a drink order for 15 minutes, while people seated after us got theirs. We had to ask the hostess what the problem was when she came back to seat someone else. When the server came (the same server waiting on the others) there was no apology. The food was terrible. My wife's California Cobb salad was disgusting, and the Rib eye was tougher than boot leather. (They did get the temperature right, but it was a terrible cut of steak - for $48.00!) The Bearnaise sauce was almost flavorless, tasting more like watered down brown gravy than bearnaise. Just bad. No one asked if we enjoyed our meal or apologized for the delay. Beautiful facility. Had post workout lunch at the bar yesterday. My go to at Sedona for lunch is the Salmon on Salad for $14. This same meal is $17 at Napa and now twice I've noted that the salmon is 2/3 the size of what Sedona serves. Sedona also does a much better job seasoning and cooking it. We had heard of this place and though it sounded like somewhere we would enjoy. We went with friends and got a table for 4. The service was very good considering that it was very busy. The food was excellent, excepting the bread was very ordinary and not very tasty. Although the décor was very nice, there was absolutely no sound dampening. Everything in the restaurant was a hard surface and the sound bounced around from every table in the restaurant...we could hardly hear each other talk...having to almost yell across the table to be heard. The staff said they knew it was a problem and were trying to work out a solution. For a 2 million dollar investment, I would think the architect should have avoided the problem when it was built. Lastly, the wine selection was very limited, unless you wanted a whole bottle, and a bit pricey. There were no Cab's from South America, no Pino's from France. no Tempranillo's from Italy, and no Shiraz from Australia, and so forth... Pretty much everything was from NAPA Valley. Ordered the smash burger and Margherita pizza and could not have been anymore disappointed in their food. This may be the last time we frequent this location. The smash burger was supposed to come with lettuce, and I asked for tomatoes as an extra. There were literally 8 strands of shredded lettuce. The Margherita pizza is typically a go-to for us, but it was covered with sea salt and tasted nothing but salt. Told our wait staff and was told the kitchen brought back a kitchen staff member who won't adjust to customer feedback. The server was mediocre at best. She was nice but just not customer centric. Overall, we had been coming here for a while and have slowly seen the food and service get worse and worse. I'm not sure if we are just coming at a bad time, but I can't find any reason to come back. Our server Lauren Mitchell was outstanding. We're not wine experts by any means, but after explaining what we were interested in she made 2 outstanding recommendations that we absolutely loved! She was professional, attentive, and knowledgeable. The food was impeccable. Luxury dishes executed to perfection.
