First time we have been here. I made reservations for our 11th anniversary. We walked in (on a Monday) and it was packed. Hostess was very nice and congratulated us on our anniversary. We did have to wait for a minute but the manager made it okay by bringing us complimentary glass of champagne to our table. He also went over all of his favorites on the menu. We ended with the chorizo oysters which were phenomenal. I got the filet which has nothing on the Boathouse! So a friend suggested Napa Kitchen and we finally made it there today. Everything about this place was spot on. Since COVID, it's been hard to find restaurants that pride themselves on the service they provide and good food. I mean, even our old go to spots fell off the wagon. Was served room temperature Prosecco and when we talked the server about it she said "oh yea I meant to ask you about that. We don't have any cold". She then took the bottle away from the table. Unfortunately my husband and I invited two couples to join us at Napa on Oct. 8th. We had. been before and had a good experience, This time was awful. First they tried to seat us near the kitchen in a booth, 6 of us. Finally able to be seated at a table and chairs away from the kitchen. They were charging $2.00 for ice for a drink! I ordered pork chops and my side was cold. Rice and sweet potatoes. One person ordered what she thought was a crab roll and turned out to be Sushi, no description showing that. One person ordered bread and it was pretty dried out. It seemed the staff were confused and the over all experience was embarrassing. We ordered the Aloha FRIED RICE and the rice was dark brown covered in soy sauce. if your Asian i would suggest don't order Asian food here you might be disappointed. Very disappointed. My wife and I went here to celebrate my birthday. I ordered a ribeye steak. Not sure what was passed off as a ribeye cut but it was not like any ribeye I had ever had before. The one end was like a ribeye cut approximately 1 inch thick the other though was significantly thicker - more lumpy like. Obviously what it looks like is not as important as to the taste. I described what it looked like because either this was not a ribeye or the chef didn't know what they are doing. Tasted nothing like a ribeye or any other quality cut of meat for that matter. I had 3 maybe 4 bites before sending it back and ordering macaroni and cheese with lobster. Which I suspect was prepackaged. Another fail -2 for 2. It is difficult to leave a rating for Napa Kitchen. Our waitress was excellent, our food was very good and would definitely go back except for one very annoying problem: THE MUSIC! It music was way too loud, the music selections were terrible, the sound system was poor so we could only hear loud thumping drums, therefore, it distracted from what could have been a lovely evening. We spent almost $100 a piece and had to shout in order to have a conversation. We mentioned that the music was too loud to our waitress and it was turned down for 2 songs and then was turned up too loud once again. Last night, 1/28/2023, we had dinner here with some friends. We have been here multiple times, but, last night, hands down, was the best experience we have had. Why? Food and drink were incredible, as usual, but, that is not the reason. It was our server Britnie M. She was just amazing. This is a very nice place. A little far from where we live but my husband and I wanted to check it out. We had the oysters and calamari for starters. It was good nothing over the top; better than most restaurants. I had Todd's Stir Fry and it was excellent. The only thing is the broccolini was a bit hard to chew. My husband had the Rockfish and unfortunately, it was over cooked and under seasoned. The whipped potatoes where good and the asparagus. For desert we had the Banana Spring rolls and the Cheese Cake. This is the "hot" place to go right now, but I wasn't really impressed. Went to lunch with a friend on a Wednesday. There were a few tables of "ladies who lunch" there. I had to wait for a hostess - not a huge deal, but first impressions. Our waitress was training someone, but to be honest the trainee was better than the trainer. I had a salmon salad for lunch. This salad was SMALL. It was a basic salad. The description said feta and cucumbers, but both were a little sparse. The piece of salmon was a little dry, but had flavor. The best part was the vinaigrette. As I said this was a small salad and it was $23. I felt that was a little pricey for a handful of lettuce, a cherry tomato, two of three pieces of cucumber and a light sprinkle of feta. Not even any crackers ( you have to pay for a bread basket ). My friend enjoyed her Caesar salad w/shrimp and sushi. I was there for the company and I had a great lunch because of that. But I do not think Napa is a good lunch spot - too expensive for so-so food. Just my opinion. read more

Our only saving Grace was Hannah at the small bar. We HAD a reservation and got there earlier than expected. The hostesses were not helpful in any way and we were told at one point our table was ready, closed out our tab with bar and went to front to be seated ( after an hour wait WITH RESERVATION!!) only to find out our table was now NOT ready. It was a complete train wreck. After about 20-25 minutes our table suddenly reappeared but we declined at that point and sat at the bar to eat. Food was blah and expensive. We will not be back. If you decide to come here, I would recommend sitting outside on the patio as it is relatively quiet and you're able to hear when being spoken to. Otherwise, the inside is very noisy and a bit crowded. The food however was very good. I got the Rockfish Mediterranean and it was delicious. I kept it because a) we were short on time (this was lunch) and I didn't want my friend to have to wait to eat since her food came out at the same time and b) I could not find a staff person to tell quickly to get it changed. Chicken was dry and tasteless. The server apologized when I told her the problem and she had no suggestions of what to do so I suggested she bring bread on the house. She agreed to do that. The side basket of bread took quite some time to bring and was dry and crusty and tasted like it was day old. The salad was quite small and incredibly overpriced. The salad was $17.00 SEVENTEEN. I loved this place so much that my husband and I came for our 10 year anniversary. While there the AC was not working , we weren't told and we sit down and order. I start to get really hot and sick from it. The staff kept telling me the ac was out but the manager Alyssa Castle comes to our table and tells me the AC is fine; that it's not hot and no one else is complaining and it get over it. I was too sick and upset to even eat by the time my food came. The girls at the front desk were so kind but Alyssa not only made sure to ruin our anniversary but was great at gaslighting me to stay in the heat until I was ready to vomit. I've never had worse service and I've never been treated so nasty and unprofessional by a manager. The interior ambiance and décor is lovely. There is a great wine tasting bar and even a self serve of some really good wines. The execution however of delivering an upscale experience is unfortunately not as good as the aesthetic appeal. This visit was my third time here and the experiences were similar each time. At arrival there were no less than 3 hosts up front who were void of any engaging smiles or hospitality. There seems to be little grasp of how to manage the front of the house with much discussion over each table that needs to be seated. It makes one feel more like a burden than a guest. When we asked about outdoor seating (which was what our reservation was for) we were given an explanation about how busy the server was and we were seated indoors. Management should help focus the front staff with ongoing training of managing clients expectations and dining room operations. We took our seat and our server was gracious and kind, however was still half asleep. The Napa "uniform" is a brown kitchen apron and as long as the apron is worn other appearances do not seem of importance. The Napa Kitchen servers are failed by management's food running model by committing the ultimate "Restaurant crime"; Food Auctioning. Food runners knowingly auction off the food at your table for anyone to claim. Compare to Ben Stein's "Bueller?, Bueller?, Bueller? and keep with Ben Stein's voice and replace with "Sausage benedict? Sausage Benedict?. . . . .". Any decent restaurant should know who is sitting where and what they ordered. Free controls can be put in place to eliminate this ongoing malpractice. Once our food was claimed, my eggs were cold, my Benedict yolk hard, and I had ordered the Benedict with Sausage, but was served the one with Bacon. So wrong dish. A lesser "restaurant crime" was committed when our bartender dropped off two cocktails, one full pour and one 2/3 pour. Management can institute "Pour volume" controls; necessary in keeping strong trust with clientele to avoid "poor" service. One last dishonorable mention; if any restaurant name mentions anything Napa, the wine list should not be missing a few hundred legendary Napa Valley vintages. The sommelier most certainly has an opportunity to impress as they continue to build out their wine program. I will leave this review on a positive note which is that the bathrooms were well kept, very clean, and stocked, and again, quite aesthetic. Clean bathrooms are an imperative and Napa Kitchen passes. The probability of us returning to Napa Kitchen in the next 12 months is low. read more
