2nd floor view from our Napili Sunset condo

Napili Sunset are 2 story condo buildings. Napili Cove resorts and condos are all low profile buildings that really adds to the charm.I have only stayed in the beach front units, which I recommend, but friends have stayed in the garden/pool units that are very reasonably priced for Maui and you are just behind the beach front building and a little access road. I can see in the future our group booking both condo types for our trips. The grounds are nicely maintained. There is housekeeping service, but I don't know what the current status of that is post-covid. Our recent trip was enjoyable in an upstairs loft. There is a downstairs bedroom, 2 baths (up & down) 2 twins in the loft and I think the sofa can be a foldout. We were perfectly comfortable without air conditioning. The lanai looks over Napili Bay and we spent a lot of time there from coffee to evening drinks and meals in between. The kitchen is fully stocked. We enjoy eating out and having the option of cooking meals in. Napili Bay is exceptional. We didn't use the pool this time spending each day in the ocean. We just walked to the lawn, left our towels, which they provide, then a few yards right down to the beach. Its pretty amazing, really. Staying in a decently priced condo beachfront is really a perfect Hawaiian vacation. That is why we return to Napili Sunset.

After staying in time shares for a week my husband and I needed a room for one night we remembered loving the snorkeling in-front Napili sunsets. We got lucky enough to get a room on the water here walking up and walking on to the beach was so lovely. The bed was the best I've laid in on the island. You can tell they try to make you comfortable they had shampoo, lotion, coffee, beach towels, a air conditioner in the bed room. The room was cute it was decorated like a home would be. I enjoyed myself I'd rather stay here than the timeshares on the island

This is a nice resort that has three buildings. Two buildings are on the beach and seem to have larger rooms, but the third building is across the road with smaller accomodations. The room we were assigned was across the road. The main bed in that room was a Murphy bed (folds into the wall). I don't believe the bed is operable for folding up, but the hotel has left the walls around the bed (see photo). This prevents having a nightstand or lamp needed for phones, clocks and CPAP. Uncomfortable situation. That structure around the beds should be removed as they have no function. The description I received from the booking agency stated the room had a queen bed and a fold up bed... totally wrong and misleading. On a positive note, the bedding was comfortable. The room has a small air conditioner. The personnel were quite friendly.

A bit dated (at least my unit), but this place far surpasses the touristy hotel/resort part of the island. Napili Sunset didn't need all the amenities of a hotel to make this experience a lasting one. The water is calmer in the bay and the area is much less crowded. Even the locals will respect you more if you're staying in Napili, as they know this is where seasoned visitors or semi-permanent guests usually stay, and not the newbie tourists. The oceanfront units are what makes this place amazing, so don't skimp and take the poolside ones. Pay for the ocean. You're in MAUI. Drinking coffee on your lanai in the morning while watching the sunrise is worth it. Plus, in the spirit of Maui, we saw a full rainbow across the bay not once, but twice.

View from our room at Napili Sunset. Wow!

Amazing location! Laid back atmosphere! Great Aloha attitude from staff and locals. Love it way better than the big resorts. Napili Cove is a beauty with great snorkeling and protected water. The beach is a little steep into the water but only geezers will care. The property itself is not swank but it is very clean and has everything you need. We stayed in a beachfront one bedroom on the lower level which I highly recommend due to the nice patios that open up onto a beautiful green lawn overlooking the cove. You are literally steps away from the sand and with a fully equipped kitchen, boat drinks are close at hand! While this is our first time here, we already know we will be back, hopefully many times.

The view from the beachfront resort.

Breakfast service was noticeably slower, and some of the thoughtful touches we appreciated before -- like the kids club activities and special gestures -- are no longer available. The live music at the pool is also gone, which definitely changes the atmosphere. Pool service was inconsistent as well; we had to flag someone down just to order drinks, and even then the wait was quite long. On the positive side, it was great to see familiar faces still here. Eric is still around the pool and remains as welcoming as ever. The woman who served us at breakfast was lovely and had a wonderful smile, and Jenny at the spa is still here too -- she continues to be fantastic. We'll see how the full transition unfolds over the next 15-18 months.

We often sip n sunset at this outdoor bar beside the Montage pool so we can watch whales frolicking in winter. Service is always excellent and friendly, and tonight wasn't any different. Our waitress did make a mistake on the order but instantly put it right so nicely we couldn't fault her, plus we were left with an extra free drink so what was there to complain about! As it is a pool bar there is a very relaxed vibe so we can visit after snorkeling and feel perfectly dressed :) There is often a musician playing live music too. It is soooo nice to just hang out here at sunset, I suggest you do too!

It's the kind of spot that doesn't shout for attention--it just exists in harmony with the ocean, the trade winds, and the rhythm of a life that's beautifully unhurried. Mornings here feel sacred. The scent of plumeria, the hush of early waves, and that first cup of Kona coffee sipped barefoot on your lanai--it's a reminder that life's simplest pleasures are often its best. You look out over Napili Bay, see turtles gliding through turquoise water, and realize there's no need for anything more extravagant. What makes this place special, beyond the postcard view, is its soul. There's an unmistakable ohana spirit that threads through everything--the kind that makes strangers smile at you, that makes staff remember your name. Pauline deserves a standing ovation--responsive, gracious, and the kind of person who seems to anticipate your needs before you even voice them. The team here doesn't just manage a property; they curate a feeling. Napili Surf isn't the cheapest stay on the island--but that's missing the point. It's value in its truest form: authenticity, serenity, and the sense you've stumbled upon something quietly extraordinary. No marble lobbies, no pretension--just barefoot luxury, Maui-style. If you know, you know.

Then upon arriving find the pillows and sheets another bonus until it was time to go to sleep and discovering the sofabed was not functional or usable as a bed at all. I was still very disappointed by the customer service that I received and the tone of voice that was used to me when I asked the question about using the sofabed. They were accommodating and had a rollaway bed delivered the next day. I met Mike who is on the management team here at Kahana Village and explained what had happened the prior night from the woman who answered the phone. Thank you to Mike I am still disappointed by the sofabed issue but I am able to focus more on the positive aspects of the place. The location is about 6 miles North of Lahaina and in a small resort area. It is a little outdated but safe and comfortable. The amenities are the pool area which includes a gazebo with ice machines and it comes with Beach chairs, snorkel gear, boogie boards and a cooler for the beach adventures. There are a couple restaurants and bars that are walking distance from the complex. I am eating it somewhere between and 3.5-4.0 and rounding up because Mike was such a nice person and made the rest of the vacation for me.

Napili Point…read morehas everything we look for when we come to Maui: it's quiet, has wonderful snorkeling literally right outside your door, helpful and kind staff, kitchen with amenities, view....and some of the best prices on the island for ocean front properties with kitchens. We were in a 1 BR + loft unit on the second floor in Napili. This was needed due to our group arrangements (two teen boys, two adults). The boys slept in the twin beds in our back bedroom, we slept upstairs in the loft with a gorgeous view out onto Honokeana Cove. We could watch sunsets from our balcony and it was an easy walk to the barbecues on the grass area of the lower levels or to the pool(s). We've also stayed in the lower 1br units and they're equally perfect. Donna will help you figure out what you need and get it all booked for you. We rented snorkel gear for the week at the shop in the parking lot next door, which makes it so easy for returns when you're done. Their prices seem comparable to the other chains on the island and they were really helpful in picking out the best size fins for my in-between feet. I highly recommend getting a float belt so you can just float without even thinking about it while snorkeling. We went out in the bay at least three times a day to swim with turtles, fish, octopus, eels...just amazing. Be sure to use the defog that the shop gives you with your rental! We stock up on groceries at costco and the market and then cook almost all our meals in the condo. The kitchen is well stocked with every utensil we would've wanted (except maybe a digital meat thermometer for the time we grilled steaks!) If you do like to eat out, Napili Point is located close to lots of great spots... The beds in our unit were really comfortable, the towels nice and fluffy, the furniture is tasteful and clean and the unit was well-updated. All in all, another perfect stay. Donna gave us her Local Girl's Guide to Maui to take with us to Maui. It's packed with unique recommendations - not the kind you find on the message boards or the tour books - lots of great tips.
