I've been coming here for 20+ years. My uncle used to play piano on the weekends and my grandma was a singer here. There have been multiple ownership changes but theyve never lost their roots. Avoid due to extortion and unethical business practice. Came with friends to see an acquaintance belly dance. Wasn't sure about persian food so ate beforehand. Only dish I was comfortable with ordering was the eggplant appetizer. Was told I had to either order a $30 entree or pay them $30 to stay. Nowhere on the menu or digital flyer did it say $30 minimum (per person) was required for dine in. I obviously left because there's no way I'm getting pressured by a restaurant into over ordering or overpaying. Everyone I told about this situation is appalled that a restaurant would behave so inappropriately. read more

This is my Persian wife's favorite place for chicken kabobs, koobideh and other Persian food. I'm not sure why they have such a low rating. I expected a 4.5 at least. We went here this past weekend and for two people in our party, it was their first times eating this kind of food! We ordered the chicken and beef kebabs, as well as the eggplant dip, and tea. While the prices seem a bit high, the portions were HUGE. The dishes they were served on could easily be an entire main course at a dinner party or at other restaurants in general. I could spread the portion out into three separate meals or more. The flavoring was nice, I really liked the grilled tomato. The beef has more flavor than chicken. For Vietnamese folks out there, the textures and seasonings were similar to Bo 7 Mon (for the beef) and the texture for cha ca (fish meatloaf, for the chicken). Based on my tastes, the beef was salty enough to eat with the rice, but for other members of the family, it wasn't seasoned enough. I really enjoyed the rice, it went well with the meats. As for the eggplant dip, it had a wonderful flavor. We ate it with the provided bread and herbs. We had 2 orders, but I think one order is enough to share for 4 people, considering how large the main meal was. The tea warmed me up. I added a few sugar cubes and it's similar to regular black tea, which I'm used to. Our family friend said a way to drink it is to put the sugar cube on your tongue, and drink the hot tea, which would slowly dissolve the sugar. The service was prompt. The cleanliness of the store was decent enough. The place is dimly lit and the colors were quite dark so it felt a bit depressing (although I heard there's dancing on Saturdays). It was a cool experience here but if I come back, I'm definitely sharing my plate. read more

Being the garbage disposal that I am, I happily accompanied my sister to Nageen since she had been crying about how much she was craving authentic Persian cuisine. We arrived this past Saturday around 2pm and immediately seated right along the establishments window. Sun beaming down and getting little to no relief from the curtains that were drawn. Word of advice: don't do it. Ask to be seated elsewhere if you're not a fan of direct heat. The menu was given and appetizers were dropped off. The basket of Persian flatbread was accompanied with cheese, butter, & fresh herbs. I wasn't sure how to properly eat it but I made due by creating little roll ups. Heads up, that stuff is delicious. Between our party of two, we placed an order for: #25- Ground Beef Koobideh [kabobs seasoned with onion and spices served with plain basmati rice and roasted tomato] #61- Gheymey [beef and pea stew served with eggplant & plain basmati rice] -Persian Tea The food was cooked well and the portions are absolutely massive. Everything is easily shared amongst two [possibly three if you are light eaters]. We left completely stuffed and had leftovers for dinner. 3.5 Stars overall because the ambiance during our visit seemed a bit rushed and dry. read more

Let me start by stating that Negeen serves the best Kabob in the bayarea. I went to the restaurant 3 times during the holiday season, one of which was a take out. Every time we went there, we were greeted pleasantly and politely. The hostell is always friendly and a great communicator. The food was amazing. Ordered Kubideh, Barg ,Filet bareh(lamb), tahdig gheymeh. Kubideh had perfect texture, taste, and smell. Barg was soft, tender and juicey. The filet was made to perfection. Absolutely recommend Negeen. I have already invited a group to Negeen for dinner. Two thumbs up. read more

Stay away from this place. We celebrated my parents anniversary there and were overcharged "by mistake" with over $1000. The owner and staff are extremely rude, service is horrible. When I went to complain, the waitress was saying "ok, my bad I made a mistake. They give you a nice herb basket with fata for your bread before your meal. I only other place that does this is Shalizaar which I consider the top Persian place in the Bay Area. Shalizaar's fata cheese is a little more tasty and they also give you walnuts which is a nice touch. read more

The owners welcome you as if your stepping into a Persian household and the food is such a big portion that's so delicious. I always order the mastochiar which is similar to the Greek cucumber yogurt and an egg plant appetizer dish that is out of this world. For the main entry I order the combination chicken and koobideh plate with rice served with zereshk Persian sour cherries that add such a flavor to the dish! The Persian tea is a nice addition to dinner and the overall experience is worth the dine there! I'm salivating dreaming about the dishes there!
