Negeen Restaurant serves DELICIOUS Persian food in the Bay Area. One of my friends recommended this place and I decided to give it a try for lunch. What did I order? LAMB kebabs with saffron rice! Now usually, I am very skeptical about lamb because it ends up being too dry or chewy. However, I heard that Negeen's lamb was excellent.. so I decided to give lamb a try instead of my chicken kebabs. My lamb kebabs were very good. They were tender (not chewy at all) and very flavorful. I was quite impressed with the lamb and would definitely order it again. The rice was fluffy and infused with fragrant saffron and butter flavors. The kebabs and rice combined made a lovely lunch. Overall, Negeen was absolutely delicious and is definitely worth trying if you like Persian food. My friend and I were craving Persian food and my manager recommended this place. On a Monday evening, it was dead. Only one other diner sitting in this fancy white restaurant. I was excited to show my friend the amazing combination of lavash bread, feta cheese, mint, butter and onion all wrapped up into a mouth watering bite. I could OD on this stuff! We both decided on the koobideh plate which was about $13. The plate was HUGE. Tender pieces of koobideh and enough rice to feed a whole family. I asked for hot sauce, and they brought tapatio which I thought was pretty funny. My friend thought the meat could use more seasoning but I prefer it this way rather than overly seasoned. Overall, great meal, but the service was a little spotty considering we were the only diners. I had enough leftovers for 2 meals! So much food! read more

This is definitely a go-to spot for my family and I at least a month/whenever we need authentic Iranian food. Their tahdig is delicious and something we always order as an appetizer. Love the bread with butter/cheese and sabzi which is given in the beginning of your meal. The Negeen Special (which has koobideh, chicken and barg kabob) is a great option, but the only downfall is I wish it included a bit more food for the price! However, their koobideh kabob is the best in the bay. Always recommend people to try their food, and it's a great way to get more people into Persian cuisine! read more

In a word, yum. A new friend brought me here to check it out when we were torn between Persian and Thai. He finally made the decision for me and brought me here, where he was greeted with such enthusiasm that I can only assume he's a regular. Fair enough. It's a large restaurant and it wasn't too busy, so there was a very mellow, quiet vibe which is great for a chill dinner with a buddy after a long day at work. The servers were all very friendly and yet kept a distance... the food was reasonably priced and the portions were some of the biggest I've seen at such a place. The food was good. Not spectacular. Not Earth shattering. Not legendary. Good. I'd definitely go back if I were in the neighborhood and Persian food were on my mind... but I don't know that I'd drive across town especially to eat here. But if my friend wanted to go back, I'd do it in a heartbeat, and enjoy myself once more. read more

I had lunch yesterday with a party of three; I had gotten the chicken and it was completely dry. My friend had the lamb, which was also overcooked and dry. It took us over a hour to be served and I ended up getting sick from the chicken. The service and food were both very bad; and for the high price tag, I had higher expectations. My wife and I had a lunch on weekday. Since my wife is vegetarian, We ordered some vegetarian food and it was delicious.

We've only ordered takeout so far from this place. The staff was very friendly and the food is fresh. So far, the only problem is that every time we ordered different things, the food is always too salty. We brought it to their attention and we were told because they are marinated (salmon and Jujeh). I've eaten these type of food for many years so that's not a good enough reason since I know that can be done without too mich salt. My favorite is their barley soup and Ash Reshteh. It is very impolite and rude to ask your customer leave upon finishing their food just because you want to make the table available to the new customers. You take your party to a restaurant for the atmosphere and not food. Great food! We got the Koobideh and Filet Mignon Combo Plate. It came with lots of rice, free naan, and plenty of yogurt to go with it. It was DELICIOUS! The Koobideh was so tender and well spiced. The Filet Mignon was well done (well.. it's not like it's Outback Steakhouse or anything) and very tasty wrapped in some naan, yogurt, and veggies. For the price, it's a good amount of food. This is in addition to my previous review: My money was never refunded after all the bad experience in this restaurant at least they could have done was accept my review and complain. I even contacted the restaurant and spoke to the owner manager, trying to create peace, even if there was no refund.. he spoke to me very rudely and did not want to talk to me trying to explain that his waitress "N" was rude to me and my family. The owner did not even care and was very angry sand did not try to calm things down. So after getting in a huge argument with Wifey I decided to take her out to a nice restaurant (because we all know the way to a woman's heart is through her stumic or..is it the other way around, hmm Lol) We walked in and Honistly felt way under dressed. I actually asked if it was ok?, sure....do you have reservations?.... Um no "i said to myself the place looks empty" Them....we have the placed booked, if you can finish your meal by 8pm we will sit you.Me... That gives us 1.5 hours, no problem. The inside of the restaurant is beautiful, with nice paintings adorning the walls, a live band area a, really nice bar and wonderful (I think) Persian music playing in the background. We started by ordering hot Persian Tea and an eggplant appetizer (Kash-e-Bademjam) The tea was blistering hot (perfect) and had a wonderful scent of oil of Bergamot. The Eggplant dish (oh my gosh) so good!! For dinner I ordered Koobideh with rice (ground beef) with rice and a whole tomato. Again very good, dare I say excellent. Wifey ordered the Cornish hen with rice and a whole tomatoe. It also had a wonderful flavor but was a little on the dry side for my liking. The service wow, exceptional, very kind sweet people with genuinely kind smiles. And there price point....in my opinion is on the lower side. This place is a true Gem. I recently had the pleasure of discovering Negeen Persian restaurant with Negeen meaning "Gem", and it is. Upon entering the restaurant there is a myriad of plants in planters hanging in front of the restaurant. The inside of the restaurant is decorated with large colorful paintings, and large mirrors making the restaurant look twice as large on the inside. There are large dining tables covered in linen tablecloths, with cloth napkins. The inside is well-lit, with recessed lighting, and a hanging chandelier adding a touch of elegance. There is a stage in the corner offering live music on Saturday nights while you dine. There is also a full bar offering whatever you like to drink. We started our order with two orders of Dolmeh wrapped in grape leaves, then the Ground Beef kabobs with seasoned basmati rice, finishing our order with Humus seasoned with spices. While we waited we were served tea with a container of sugar cubes. The food was delicious, the service was friendly and efficient offering true hospitality. After my experience, I am looking forward to returning and trying other dishes. read more

I have been going to this restaurant for many years. The first time in a long time I went there and the food tasted different. Wasn't half as good as before. The Kashe K Bademjoon was way to salty and had too much garlic. The waitresses were super rude. Literally would walk away while you are in the middle of a sentence. Forgot everything thing that we requested. Had to be told several times the same thing. JUST because I grew up on this restaurant I gave them another chance thought it was just a off night. Being Persian myself, I have some strict standards for Persian restaurants. Negeen certainly met the mark, and always has all my life. It is one of my go-to spots for Persian food, albeit Negeen is pricier compared to the competition. The quality of the food is worth the higher price, in my opinion. (Be prepared to spend anywhere from $30-50 per person). The koobideh was cooked to perfection, meeting the perfect mix of softness and chewiness (koobideh kabob is my all-time favorite food, so this is big coming from me. My compliments to the chef!). The barg was equally incredible, striking the perfect balance between tenderness and toughness. The rice was cooked with just the right amount of oil (Persians use oil when cooking rice, not just water), and the saffron garnish to it was excellent. The kashk-e-bademjan was amazing. It had just the right amount of kashk (it's the white stuff on top, it's similar to sour cream, in some respects). It always makes for a great appetizer, and it most certainly did not disappoint. read more

The drive was a bit far and we did end up taking a 2.5 lunch but it was all worth it! The food was so delicious! Kasha-e-bademjan (puree eggplant with mints): Nice, creamy eggplant puree with a hint of mint. I couldn't stop eating it with the bread. Maste-Khiar (Persian yogurt with mince garlic and cucumber): I LOVED the garlic bits throughout the yogurt Joojeh (chicken kebab): Grilled moist pieces of chicken. Squeeze a little lime on it, perfect! Barg (filet mignon): The meat was on the drier side but still very tasty. Koobiden (ground beef kebab): My FAVORITE kebabs! The meat was extra moist and the seasoning is perfect. MMM. My mouth is salivating just thinking about it. Basmati rice: Add butter to it! Sounds weird but it made the rice taste x10 more amazing. We ordered there for the first time today. The hummus was very good and so fresh. We also tried three different Kabobs (lamb, beef, chicken). The portions were large with a delicious rice. My son told me that it was the best idea to order there and was already in love with their food (and he's a picky eater so that's not a compliment he often says). I just came back from dinner with a friend from here and this place was so good I had to write a review right away. The people that work here are so unbelievably nice and helped explain the proper way of eating persian food. They come out with basket of their lavish bread and a plate of herbs, onions, and cheese. You take the bread and place a bit of onion, leaves, and cheese in it and wrap it like a burrito. The onion is pretty strong so cut it in real thin slices haha The taste was refreshing and it was interesting to try. My friend and I shared the number 28 which is a meal for two people. It had three types of meat and a plate of rice/salad for each person. My friend and I decided to do a half rice and half salad plate and it was a very wise decision. The amount of food they give you on that plate is ridiculous. I consume a lot more than the average girl haha so like I was impressed that they gave me enough that I couldnt finish it. So there are two tomatoes on the plate of meat and you take it and smash it on the rice. Then you can take butter if you want and mix it with your tomatoe rice. On the meat you can sprinkle their spice that has pomegranate in it. If I'm totally wrong I apologize haha I followed what the waitress told me, unless I got some of the steps wrong haha. Either way the food was absolutely delicious. I liked the chicken a lot because it was so juicy and the other meats were good as well. I also consume a lot of water so I really appreciated how attentive the waiter was. He refiled my water as soon as I got done with it so I was never left thirsty. This place a really good experience! Now I know why these ppl have low stars..Absolutely waste of time and money. Having tried so many Persian restaurants in Chicago and LA. I know what the taste means for kebabs. Positives: Interior Ambience Negatives: Food is not fresh.Do not expect the kebab to taste like a kebab. Stale meat,which on top is not well done even after request. Clearly the meat wasn't marinated in advance missing spices. You pay very high and don't even get a grilled onion in your meal,just the tomato. Everything is pricy a lamb kabob meal for 27$, small bowl of salad for 9$ with barely any parsley and then the meat clearly is stale tasteless 40$ for all left behind ..You don't want to fall sick eating this food.
