I dropped by here on a morning walk during a recent weekend while visiting Noe Valley. I was able to find one seating spot available. The cafe was cute with a few magazines and an outdoor and indoor seating area. This cafe is tucked away in the neighborhood I ordered the breakfast sandwich and cold brew. The breakfast sandwich was delicious and had a hard boiled egg, cheese and multi grain bread. Definitely a healthier sandwich Cold brew was deliciously smooth but strong. This place is so cozy and cute! It's bright and airy with Japanese accents? Flair? It feels like a local neighborhood secret. Clientele seems pretty diverse. There's some people doing work at tables, people holding meetings, people writing and reading...so fun. I enjoyed their iced Okinawan kokuto latte and matcha mochi muffin. This place was bustling on a Saturday! Arrived around 11:45 and every table was filled - I saw lots of laptops - although I can't imagine people working peacefully, it's quite loud and lots of families / kids running around. The place is aptly named, it definitely seems like a neighborhood spot to hang. That being said there was no line when I arrived and my drink, the Okinawan Kokuto latte came out quick. As mentioned, I didn't have a place to sit but enjoyed browsing the merch while I waited (not long) for my drink - they have cute apparel with their logo, candles, Japanese spreads, wine, coffee beans and more. Pastries available were from Loquat - another fave, and I think some muffins / donuts from Third Culture. Definitely interested in coming back! My Kokuto latte was the perfect sweetness for me and I'd love to try it hot next time as well as one of their sandwiches - might just have to get there earlier to snag a seat! read more

Really disappointing. The coffees were tiny and expensive, and it took 20 minutes to make three coffees. The staff were rude and stuck-up, and when they got part of our order wrong, there was no apology -- just "Well, it said it was hot on the ticket." i got the strawberry matcha here, and i strongly believe this is one of sf's best matcha spots! the matcha flavor intertwined with the strawberry syrup without either overpowering each other. the cafe itself is truly in the corner of a gorgeous neighborhood. it's also right next to twin peaks, so it's the perfect place to get your matcha fix before / after a hike up. read more

The cutest little coffee shop that feels like a true neighborhood gem! It's not on a busy street but instead nestled smack in the middle of a neighborhood with houses on either side. Adorable find. It is Japanese inspired so you will find menu items such as sandos, hojicha latte, black sesame latte, mochi muffins, etc. with basic items as well. I enjoyed the Tokyo fog latte and breakfast sandwich here! I also tried hojicha latte for the first time, this wasn't my favorite (personally) although it was made well with good hojicha flavor and nuttiness. It does get crowded and hard to find a seat -- really a neighborhood favorite where people come to work or chat and stay for a while! read more

Sorry, girl, the service here is still pretty subpar even after 2 years after your review. :p I enter the coffee shop with both counter ladies giving me deadpan stares. I had to initiate the hello's. Anyway, I got an iced matcha strawberry. Curious, I sipped the matcha layer first before mixing.....not a fan of the matcha here. Overly bitter. The strawberry purée layer is delicious on its own, but mixing everything together there's not much cohesion to the drink. Not the best matcha strawberry drink that I've had. On the bright side, I tried the mahlab cake. Very tender cake! Recommend if you want a sweet treat. read more

Super cute hidden gem in San Francisco in residential area close to twin peaks! Tried the black sesame matcha and cortado. Both were pretty good. The black sesame matcha had good black sesame flavor. It had a bit of an oily from the black sesame flavoring but it wasn't off putting. Just towards the end of the drink it got grainy and a little displeasing to finish. The cortado was fragrant, strong, and flavorful. Really delicious. They have pastries from the midwife and baker, loquat, and mochi muffins from third culture bakery. We got the carrot cake and matcha mochi muffins and they were really good. I wish they had savory pastries but all the ones they had were sweet. Their sandwich menu sounded a bit basic and was pricey so we opted out. The place was packed when we got there around 11am on a Wednesday, but we were lucky enough to get a table with outlets. So many people were doing work here. Had good sunlight and natural lighting with great modern aesthetics and vibes. Clean and reliable cafe good for productivity. I think it would also be nice for a casual catch up with friends as a few people were also hanging out and chatting. I didn't mind the background noise as I worked. Service is consistently efficient and they're always knowledgeable about the menu. I didn't love the iced black sesame matcha I got (a bit too watery, matcha flavor wasn't strong, and not super sweetened) but I loved the pork belly sandwich! It had very flavorful pork belly, mayo, cucumbers, and brioche bread. It didn't taste too heavy and was a perfect light lunch. The vibe inside was quieter in the morning around 11am but got louder around 1-2pm. They allow laptops as long as you order something every 2 hours. My review is more for their strawberry matcha, which was surprisingly very sour and lacked in matcha flavor. I wish they sweetened the strawberries a bit more. Using this cafe as a working space for a few hours was a lovely experience. The neighborhood is sweetly walkable with plenty of street parking, the staff is friendly, wifi is good, and seating and outlets are plentiful. That said, the drinks I tried left much to be desired. I had their iced Matcha Latte and tried their Hojicha with strawberry. Both were a bit bland, with the matcha having a bitter grassy flavor that couldn't be disguised with more sweetener. I also tried two of their mochi muffins (gluten free!) and greatly enjoyed the sesame flavor. If I am in the area again and drop by, I would want to try one of their hot teas instead. read more

I absolutely love this place. It is one of my go-to cafe's in the city, especially since I am always in the Castro. The service is absolutely amazing. All the baristas that I have encountered are super nice. While I haven't tried everything on the menu, I can say that I do enjoy a lot of the drinks that they offer since I come here often. I would say everything that I have tried is really good. The pastries as well. The most critical I have to say is about the cappuccino. The cappuccino overall was okay for the day I had it. The espresso seamed to be dialed in to have a more medicinal notes, giving the cappuccino an aftertaste of Ricola Original Herb cough drops -- not my favorite. The milk I would say was also served too hot for normal cappuccino temperatures which may have contributed to the overall taste. I still enjoyed the drink, as this was not enough for me to reduce my rating. All other drinks I had were iced, so temperature had never been a problem and every drink that I had prior to this experience has been 10/10. This place is also really good for working. There are outlets in the corner, and internet is provided. I love the vibe of the cafe. The interior feels so welcoming, just as the staff. read more

It is a quaint room inside for the amount of customers they regularly have, although we were lucky to find a table open up for 3 last minute. A cute cozy cafe on the corner. Went on a Thursday afternoon and all the tables were filled up. A great place to chat with friends or get some work done. Drink/Food Ordered: Hojicha Latte - Hot (9/10): one of the better hojichas I had in the city. It was creamy and not watered down with a rich hojicha flavor! I do wish it came in a larger cup, but that's my own preference. Avocado Toast (8/10): I was hoping for their Japanese Tamago Sando but they were out that day. I got their avocado toast and was pleasantly surprised with how delicious it was! The boiled egg was a bit disappointing as it wasn't the full egg and a little dry, but the toast itself was good. Ordered my usual, Avocado Toast & bacon. This time I bought a pack of Roots & Craft Wakocha, a Japanese tea made of green tea leaves, notes of brown sugar. First time I had it I was convinced they added sweetener. Nope. Cue the steamed milk, call it a London fog, I call it perfection. Speaking of, the bacon. Strips of still a bit chewy center cut. Nice touch. The plate was garnished with a pickled carrot & cauliflower sprig. Oh yeah, the main event. Avocado was ripe (a rarity), garnished with some chili flakes. Not my favorite bread, too big for the portion of avocado. Ok, I'm assuming most people like the bread, I prefer San Francisco sourdough, doesn't compete with the mild green fruit. This crabby gourmet admits I'd come here again when I wake up crazy early. Otherwise people have to join the line for takeout. Just looked up, 8am the laptop squatters nursing their almost empty coffee cups, have taken up every seat. I barely missed the previous 3 star experience. I don't understand how this cafe survives. Absolutely looooved Neighbors corner! Stayed nearby for a work trip for a week and we had our breakfast here every morning. It was the best start to our day and we enjoyed the California sun while eating some lovely breakfast. Sitting outside we had the best people and dog watching spots! Matcha lattes were delicious and prepared traditionally. All the food was delicious too! I loved the breakfast sandwiches on Japanese milk bread. It wasn't too heavy or filling and was flavorful without but being overwhelming. The persimmon mochi was a pleasant surprise because usually I'm not a fan of persimmon. But they made it the perfect texture and sweetness. I also loved the atmosphere - it was small so always full, but it was great to feel welcomed by the neighborhood. Service was excellent too! The baristas were so thoughtful and nice. The only thing making this review shy of a 5 star is that they messed up the bread choice a few times for our sandwiches but it was no big deal! Came to this coffee shop for a quick pit stop before heading to Tahoe. Our cousin suggested this spot saying it's his favorite coffee shop in the neighborhood. I was sold when he mentioned matcha. Upon entering the shop, I noticed the menu which was heavy on green teas and hojicha. I played it safe and ordered an Iced Matcha Latte and order the Matcha Strawberry for the hubby. I loved both drinks. The matcha was delightful. The one with strawberry puree added a nice sweet taste and texture. The staff was super friendly and pushed out drinks in a timely manner. I quite enjoyed the gal in the back who brought out a weight scale to measure out the matcha. All in all, I was very impressed. I'm always on a hunt for a good Hōjicha Latte which lead me to Neighbor's Corner. It's nestled up in the hills in Noe in a very residential area. Unless you live in the area or GPS lead you the wrong way, you probably would have never known there's a cafe there. What drew me to Neighbor's Corner is they're a modern cafe with a Japanese flair - good selection of Japanese teas, tamago sando, and they even have daifuku on some days. It *seemed* like a hidden gem. It was an unusually hot day in the city so I wanted to grab a cold drink after running errands on Church street. It took several rounds to find parking so more of a neighborhood spot. Arrived to the cafe to staff staring blankly at me. I asked for an Iced Hōjicha Latte and was told "we don't have hōjicha today". So, I ordered an Iced Matcha Latte w/ oat milk ($6.50): https://tinyurl.com/msb22w46. The ratio of matcha to oat milk was off. The cup was filled nearly to the rim with milk and capped off with matcha so it ended up too milky and bland. In the pic, it's not mixed yet. This is the cutest most obscure café. It's not around anything else really so a true neighbor's corner. I discovered it hiking the nearby Douglas stairs which is one block away. It's also a few blocks from the Jungle Stairs. I don't think many people come here unless they live in the immediate neighborhood but it's worth making a trip if you are into green tea or matcha. They have about 6 different green tea drinks. My favorite is the strawberry matcha drink. The sweet strawberry blends well with the more bitter matcha. I just wish they opened later. They close at 3pm which seems too early. read more

I came by on a Friday morning to get some work done. Wasn't super busy at first (~9 AM) and there were a choice of seats, but in 30 minutes, the place was completely packed and super busy. The space also isn't huge, so it does get pretty noisy and crowded; wouldn't recommend if you're looking for a more chill quiet area. I got a cortado, and it was great. Really well pulled steam milk (the art was beautiful), which lent a great mouth feel. Coffee was solid too. Overall, super solid spot. Definitely pretty far out there, so feel like it's a spot that locals frequent (saw a ton of home brought mugs). Still definitely give it a go! read more
