I love the house salad! I get it with ranch. The only thing I wish is that you could add some type of meat to the salad. Like the roasted chicken they put on pizzas. The atmosphere is so casual and comforting! If it's nice, DEFINITELY sit outside and take advantage of the amazing view over the river. Tried calling twice today (5/28/2022 at 645pm) and the second time a woman answered but said nothing. I stayed on for 3 minutes waiting for her to tell me to hold on or something, anything. Instead, she added people to the waiting list that were there in person. I understand they're busy, but this is tacky and poor representation for a local establishment. She clearly left the phone off the receiver so no one could get through, except she didn't hang up and then take it off so I heard everything. I highly recommend training the staff to simply say "do you mind holding for a few minutes? We are very busy, but I can help you soon" or something relatively i formational. This hostess is costing the restaurant lost orders, thus lost revenue and tips on those orders. Lori - I did not have a hard time reaching the restaurant by phone. Someone picked up twice - once they hung up and the second time she picked up and set the phone down so no one could call through (no more ringing phone). I wanted to place a to-go order. The scenery here is very beautiful. The food was just subpar. We had a fairly large group so we had to be seated separately which was not a big deal. We did order a little bit of everything off of the menu including wings, pizza, as well as the dip. The dip was great! The pizza was good however the wings were definitely overcooked. It was a nice local restaurant to try however, if you're looking for pizza and wings, I would maybe look elsewhere. Loved this place and it's patio views! We ordered the bruschetta for appetizer and it was 10/10. Some of us weren't too hungry so we ordered a large Green Goat pizza for 4 people. We stopped at Neighbors after a walk around downtown Bastrop. The venue is fantastic if you can get seating outside Much to our surprise it was Monday half price margaritas and half price margarita pizza! Service was excellent- we even got to meet the owner, Tom who spoke to us about their business and told us he brewed all the beer they offered. We ended up trying the Amber which was our favorite and did a taste of mint stout and cinnamon stout which were also VERY good! We have been here several times over the years, usually with a group of 4-6. You have multiple options for dining area inside or out with a cool old fashion bar area as you enter. The service is always good and the food is great. Last night I had the Gettin Figgy With it Pizza and Brussels sprouts app. Both were fantastic. Rating this pizza best non traditional pizza I've had. I will note, eat it all cause it's not good left over. Rest of the group had various pizza, wings and salads. All good reviews. read more

I visited Neighbors in February, a few weeks before Covid19 safety measures were put in place, so I cannot comment on that aspect. I will say it is a really cute restaurant with different levels of outdoor deck seating in a beautiful setting right near the river. they have a long staircase that leads down to a small grassy amphitheater where they often have live music. The night we went there was an indoor blues band in the bar area. Sound was good, as were the beers and pizza. Good beer selection on draft. Our waitress was very attentive and sweet. Plenty of parking on the night we were there. We enjoyed walking around the beautiful grounds afterwards and said at that time that we would definitely go back. And we will! read more

The outdoor seating overlooks the Colorado river and their personal stage. The service is always great when we come here as well. You can't go wrong by coming here unless the wait is too long. We've been visiting this beautiful spot for the past few years mainly for the live music nights (no surprise if you know me), but I have to say I'm a little envious that we don't live close by. Neighbor's is located in Bastrop right on a beautiful, peaceful part of the Colorado River, complete with a walking path and a nearby park, and has a fantastic outdoor deck and backyard with multiple picnic tables, which makes it a lovely spot to enjoy the scenery and fresh air when the weather is nice. The live music stage is located downstairs in the backyard, so that's invariably where we end up. They host live music on weekends. The food and drinks are good for families or solo diners: I lean toward the array of pizzas (Tree Hugger and Margherita are favorites) and their house salad, which is mixed greens with toppings you might also find on their pizzas (tomatoes, olives, artichoke hearts, etc.). They have a full bar, but beer lovers will be happy to find an array of local and regional craft beers on tap. Recently, they've been having some difficulties restaffing post-pandemic shut-down, especially with the onslaught of diners returning to dine there vs. order take-out. So be aware that in busy times (weekend nights especially), there will likely be a wait for a table, since they can't yet staff at full capacity. And they aren't currently taking phone to-go orders. This may and probably will all change once staffing evens out, because things ran pretty smoothly pre-pandemic. We noticed there was one lone server and a food runner assigned to serve all of the diners seated at the outdoor picnic tables when we went, and they never stopped running around. Bring along your patience and tip well. They are working hard in tough times. Parking has always been a challenge at this compound, because they have a tiny lot shared by this and other small businesses there. If the lot is full, you can park on the street nearby heading toward the town square. It's a nice night for a walk. read more

Maybe an off night or just short-handed. Who knows? We arrived into the cool little town of Bastrop on the recommendation of a friend I was meeting from elsewhere in this great nation of ours. I did a little research before we arrived, and this place looked to be really cool, with music, good food, and everything else associated with such a place. I think we were there on an off night where it seemed everything conspired against our visit. We were seated fairly quickly considering the large number of people that apparently only wanted to sit outside to watch (and listen to) the music act that was playing a little later on. We were worn out from being in the sun all day, so inside was our choice, but we still got to watch the band and the people that were there to see them. I can't tell if the restaurant was short-handed (as is everyone it seems lately) or if what we experienced was par for the course, but just about everything we ordered took a long time (including our waters). Our dinner companions arrived about twenty minutes after we were seated, and once we ordered, it took about an hour to get our pizzas/calzones, which were tasty once they arrived. I really wanted to like this place because the atmosphere is neat, the people seem to be really hip, but just about everything took much longer than necessary. I want to come back on a weekday night to retest their mettle versus what we had on our first visit. I think this place has much more in them. read more

I hate leaving anything 'bad' but I do have positive too. The bad: this was my second time coming here and the time from when we ordered to the time we got our food both times was extremely long. Now I do understand that people are short staffed but this was about an hour both times for one large pizza. That came out burnt, both times. The Good: The staff is extremely friendly. They make it the place worth going back too. They work their butts off running up and down the stairs outside and making sure our drinks never get below half full. Over all it's a good place. Neighbor's Kitchen & Yard was a fantastic dining experience. We arrived (party of 4) around 1pm on Monday. The parking was a little hectic but cleared up fairly quickly. The restaurant was clean and the host(ess) was friendly. There were plenty of tables available (afternoon lunch on weekday) and we were immediately seated. Two in the party ordered margaritas which they remarked were quite delightful. We ordered two of the large specialty pizzas, one hawaiian and the other figgy. Both were incredibly delicious. The dough wasn't burned or too soggy. The toppings were evenly spread and tasted fresh. All in all it was a very pleasant experience and we would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone thinking of visiting Bastrop for a scenic restaurant to enjoy pizza or margaritas. read more
