Rustic atmosphere with great food at reasonable prices. We had the Sloppy Joseph for Friday supper. Shredded spiced beef on a bed of pepperoni (keeps the bread from getting soggy) on fresh homemade buns. Just the right size portion and delicious. Previously we had a good experience here but it's been a while so we joined the waitlist and requested inside seating. We arrive and are told it would be about a 30 minutes for the table we requested. No worries, we wanted to grab drinks at the bar. The bar had 4 people seated. We are told by a male host we are not allowed to go inside to have drinks at the bar because it overwhelms the bartenders and that if we want drinks they can be brought outside to us. It's 104 degrees outside. We were the only party waiting for a table when we arrived. We won't return to this establishment. I could understand this "rule" for the bar if they were indeed busy but they were not. This is not good customer service. read more

2/25/23-my husband and I took a little day trip and found ourselves here. We needed to sit outside because we had a little dog with us. After the hostess finally greeted us, I told her a table for two outside. I didn't catch her name but she had pink hair and was very unfriendly. She said the only thing that was available were the high tables. I explained that I have short legs and that's not comfortable. Then I pointed out a picnic table that was available and she said that it was dirty. I asked if she could clean it and I started to follow her down and was told that I needed to go back and wait. She gave a little swipe to an already clean table and then we were seated. A similar situation happened to the people behind us. Now for the good... The best margarita pizza I have ever had. We also ordered some appetizer meatballs. They had way too much oregano. Almost made them a little bitter. But, they were very moist. I hope to go back one day when the music is going. Agree that it is very hard to find.. Upon waking in the hostess and wait staff were very nice and professional. For service I would give a 5/5 For food however I was not overly impressed. We ordered: - The meatballs 3/5 - The buffalo spinach sandwich 1.5/5 the chicken was very dry, the blue cheese was to overpowering, the ciabatta however was a nice touch - Hot lil honey (4/5) my son enjoyed the spicy and the honey together - Greek salad (4/5) we didn't order it with chicken so this is just based on the veggies - El Camino 3.5/5 I enjoyed the substitution of black olives for kalamata olives I wasn't however a fan of the crust a little too hard/ crunchy for my likings read more

This place was great! My coworkers and I stopped here for lunch while passing through and it did not disappoint! Please note that it's tucked away and a little challenging to find. It's located towards the back of a collection of historic buildings, but it is on the water and has multiple exterior covered decks and even a little interior seating. The menu consists of pizza, salads, and sandwiches, so it's probably more of a lunch spot. Each of my coworkers ordered a salad and I ordered the veggie sandwich that comes with hot veggies, mozzarella, and pesto sauce on wheat toast with a side of chips. For no extra charge I was able to sub out the wheat toast for some yummy ciabatta bread. And in lieu of the child, for $2.5 extra you can sub out a salad, chips and salsa, or Texas Caviar (I chose the latter). The food was excellent! The salads looked large and delicious and my sandwich was the perfect amount of food for me. My only complaint is that the iced tea wasn't very good and definitely wasn't worth the $3 charge. But that is literally my only complaint. read more

My lady and I just spent a lovely evening at Neighbor's. First time in, recently moved to Bastrop and trying out the town. One of my absolute favorite places that I've been in several years. Just like in real estate, location, location, location. Phenomenal views of the river and a gorgeous sunset. They had live music going while we sat and enjoyed our dinner. Short wait, but they got us started with a drink while we sat in some great Adirondack chairs by the front step. Seated at a great table in Emily's section. She absolutely knocked it out of the park. She had two sections and was still attentive and friendly without overdoing it. Phenomenal service. I managed bars and restaurants for 10 years and would have loved to have her on my team. Drinks were great. Well made cocktails with good ingredients. Nothing over done or over powering, just delicious. I had a julep with local whiskey from Copper Shot and my date had the prickly pear margarita. We got apps and a pizza. Had their sausage and cream cheese dip by Emily's recommendation and it was delicious. Also had a lovely Greek salad and two kinds of wings, the sweet sriracha and basil Parmesan. So good. Crispy with the perfect amount of flavor. Then we ordered a pie to finish off the meal and take home the leftovers. Also spoke to the shift manager, didn't catch her name, but she was a rockstar as well. She had a couple of challenging customers and handled it with grace. Hats off to the owners and staff. Get the Sloppy Joseph. How can a sloppy joe be so good? So unique yet familiar? Elevated, even. Couldn't tell ya. But we've been back twice just to try it again. I also had an "Almost BLT" which was fantastic dipped in ranch (homemade ranch, this is my kinda place). And the time before that, a summer salad. The restaurant is right on the water, has a great patio, and all kinds of daily specials and live music. Gives you the best home-town feel. Servers have always been friendly, too. read more

While I was in Bastrop watching the 7th grade girls' basketball tournament at Bastrop Middle School, we had a few hours to kill. We found this place on Yelp. I wanted to go to the Mexican restaurant, but my vote was overruled. After getting there, I was so glad we found this place. Be sure to watch for the little signs. We almost missed the street to turn on. There is not much parking close by to the restaurant so be prepared to walk a little. We were lost on how to get in since you see wooden buildings around. If you see the outdoor bathrooms, you're close! Keep walking and you shall find it. We wanted to sit outside on the deck since it was a beautiful day. The deck was really nice!!! It overlooked the river and you can see they play music out there as well. Such a great place to be on a nice day. The restrooms are located outside and they were well maintained. I liked the funny messages written on the chalkboard. Food: We shared the buffalo wings, chips and salsa and medium chicken pesto pizza. The buffalo wings were good and the salsa was delicious. It was not spicy like I normally like, but it tasted very fresh. The pizza was really good. Had good flavor except the chicken on top was dry. Service: the service was good. I didn't feel like we were waiting for an extremely long time to order or get our food. I can't wait to try something else! read more

Good pizza for a local spot. We came to visit my aunt and they recommended this spot.

Really good pizza, but service was very poor. It took 2 hours to get our food, and although they were extremely busy, people that were seated at least half hour after us had their food well before we did. The server just kept complaining about the kitchen. I can understand delays due to being busy, as it was a Saturday evening, but there is no excuse for the indifference of the people working there. I really liked the food, and will probably give them 1 more chance, so I hope they are able to fix their issues. read more

This is an interesting restaurant. Being in a small town like Bastrop, I'm totally sensitive to not being able to attain good help in this business. The food here at Neighbor's is fantastic. The Service,not so much on this particular evening. But again, you never know what's going on behind scenes. Maybe some servers called out or got fired who knows. Although the service was lack luster, the Bar Tender Lady was super cool and made a valiant effort to keep everyone happy. I believe the owner or Manager lady with the Blonde Hair, stepped in later to service our table. We could all feel the tension of her energy that her night was not going well. However, the food was very good and saved the night and this review. My thoughts are that I would definitely be back but know that the earlier you dine, probably the better chance you will get to have good service. Hopefully, they will be able to attain better help to ensure better service even in the evening. Forks up Neighbor's. read more

Food is good. 20 for one pizza. I have spent hundreds of $$ here for average food. Not the best service. I had them be very rude to me on multiple times. They were busy, let other people sit while I was waiting to place my order. Got two pizzas and they burned one of them. We did not check them and went home to find this. I've been to Neighbors once, and I totally enjoyed it! We had a little bit of a wait, which was tolerable, although it was very hot out! The hostess was so sweet and offered us something to drink on the house while we waited. We had pizza, and it was delicious. They have a small a la carte menu, which was still a lot to choose from. The surroundings to the restaurant are so lovely. A few little shops you can go to while you wait or go to before dinner. They have two levels of seating on the outside with a deck for a live band. Food was subpar and service was terrible. Sat for 15min and asked 3 different wait staff before anyone came to take our order. When a waiter finally came to take our order the excuse was " they didn't get the memo". The kitchen must have been backed up, because it took ages, after another long wait we asked the waiter if the spinach salad was ready and it was brought out, obviously it had been sitting. When the rest of the food finally came the Pizza was decent but the greek salad was soggy and fried Brussels sprouts were cold by the time it was brought to the table. The chicken salad sandwich was inedible and meatball sandwich tasted like food you might find at a gas station. Would not recommend going to this place for lunch unless you want to be disappointed. If you do want to try it, stick to ordering just pizza and go when it's not a peak time. For a place highly rated I was surprised at how disorganized the kitchen and service staff were. read more

Stopped here for a small meal before heading to College Station. The restaurant is much bigger than I expected and has a neat lawn/yard area attached for concerts or events. The food is very cheap and good quality. I got the pepperoni pizza slice which is a great size for only $2 (it was "two step Tuesday", so half price). My boyfriend got the Beer Guzzler wings and said they were also really good and had a decent kick spice wise. The waitress, SHARON, was an excellent server. Awesome personality, more than happy to answer questions/gives suggestions. She clearly loves her job and being around people. I'd first like to say my experience was during Saint Patrick's day at night. The wait times are probably due to this however the poor quality food should not be due to just a holiday. We were told it would be an hour and a half before we got a table. We asked first to be seated inside and had parked a bit of a walk away due to it being so busy. We decided to wait in our car because it was cold out. We then were texted 20 minutes later saying a table was ready, so we walked all the way back. Once we got back, we were told only a table outside was ready, so we then walked back to the car and waited another hour for a table. Once we were seated we ordered and the food came to us cold. The pizza was extremely hard and barely had any level of flavor to it. One of the people I was with ordered meatballs and they came out cold as well. The only utensils provided were plastic and it's quite difficult to eat a salad with plastic. While we were there as well, we could see the kitchen staff and noticed one of them taking their headwear off. He began fixing his hair and messing with it, which for unknowing people, is completely unacceptable in the line of work. The best I can say about this place was the waitress was nice but I won't even comment on the poor outside bathrooms. Definitely don't recommend! read more
