Got seated and waited over 20 minutes NO waiters.... Nobody even show up to the table for drinks ... No manger !!! What the heck!!!

I never leave reviews. I am patient, calm, level headed. the food was average. service was poor. no one came to greet the table and take a drink order for 15 min. had to flag someone down. food took 45 min to get to table. didnt get the complete order. had to get up and ask for the remainder. no one came to ensure the order was correct. No water refills. I placed extra dipping sauce order when we ordered our meal, didn't get that. When I got up to go ask for the dipping sauce I ordered, I was given only one. Was told that they have a strict one dipping sauce policy by the food runner. I told them I was happy to pay for it. waited 15 mi after we were done eating to get the check. I had to get up and ask for check. felt like a jerk. my family was held captive cause we ordered and couldn't leave. my wife and I have 3 girls. I should have left and hit up chick fil an and brought it back while we waited for food. While signing the check. The server stood there watching my gratuity, automatically at 20%. Only other options were 22%, 18%. I just dont want anyone else to have to suffer the same as we did. hope this helps. read more

I love their Salads probably more than anything, but their pizzas and casual fare go great with their full bar and great beer selection. Sitting in the bar area is great on a warm day, and outside on the multi-level patio on breezy days or evenings with live music is really nice. I've always had good service, so can't complain. Overlooks the Colorado River and the Fisherman's Park walking trail (as featured in a scene on the new HBO Max movie "Love & Death". This is my second time here and the service and ambience are fantastic. The hostess was very accommodating. We were able to waitlist from Home and got here exactly when our table was ready. The server, Kayla, remembered us, and our drinks, from the last/first time we had been here. The live music artist, Natalie Metcalf, is so great. This place has load of character and you can tell that depending on when you come will depend on which character you meet. Obviously this place plays host to bands, parties, group gatherings, shopping, and dining. On this occasion we meet up for food. Lots of drink specials during happy hour, and a good selection of funky cool appetizers. We sat inside, as another reviewer noted, mid-September is not a great time to hang outside for an hour or more unless you wanna be wet and sticky. Inside was cool, but for sure not cold. Our server was very attentive, in fact I think we were his only table as he came over and over and over to check on us. We were obviously there to chat, hang out and in no rush, so when someone comes back repeatedly and asks if we're ready, when clearly we're not, slow your roll. Not that kind of town bro. So while I was unhappy with our server being passive-aggressive in making us order, and then continually interrupting us while we say and ate (you can see were eating, you can see we have drinks, why ask if we need more food and drink?!), everything else was fine. We got the queso and chips which was real nice, not too salty, not too creamy, had a good solid chunkiness to it. I wanted to try some wings, so we got 10 of the sweet srichacha, and the emphasis was on the sweet for sure, hardly any spice. Lots of orange flavor for the sweetness which was good, but I would prefer them spicier. The wings were big and we would have been better off with 5 pieces instead of 10. We all got different calzones, which, let me say, is super cool that they make. Great single serving size, and I was still unable to eat it all. Good flavors, well balanced, nice sauces and toppings. Can't complain and would get again for sure. Fun little spot and plenty to walk around and explore, good view overlooking the Colorado River too! read more

Having recently moved to the Bastrop area, I've been to Neighbor's several times and often bring family and friends that visit. This last time might just be my favorite. We went early before the crowds and got a great table under the covered outdoor area with a fantastic view of the stage and bridge on a beautiful October day. Our server Emily was really awesome - and had some good suggestions. We tried a few of the beers and each got a personal pizza so we could do half and half. I got the 'Getting Figgy with It' (fig jam, prosciutto, caramelized onions, goat cheese) he got the 'Fancy Free' (Canadian Bacon, basil, goat cheese, balsamic). Both were amazing! Second update : After taking time to go through some reviews I've noticed a pattern of excuses when the owner responds to negative reviews. Also if you read the review from three months ago by Denee (Sp?) They also had an issue with staff turning their backs on them when they arrived, albeit the staff acknowledged them initially. The owner responded that they would increase training so this didn't happen again, but here we are, with staff just ignoring people and turning their backs. I guess the training was to teach staff to just totally ignore customers before turning their backs. We are also locals like the other reviewer and have decided to not patronize this business nor recommend them to anyone after seeing a pattern in reviews. Very sad because it seems like the last several owners have failed in this spot, and this spot has the best views and placement of any restaurant in Bastrop. The failures are proof that you can't rely solely on location to be successful. I wish the current owners luck in getting some actual good employees and getting some kind of training to stick. I also recommend instead of acting shocked at people's poor reviews and subsequently making excuses, that you offer up solutions and offer to have the reviewers return to your establishment to see the improvements you claim to be making (and follow through on your claims) since these people are generally spending a fair amount of money there. read more

The atmosphere here is so so cute. It's like a miniature version of The Oasis. The decks overlooking the river make for a great place to hang out, listen to live music and enjoy drinks and pizza. We got the ground philly pizza and LOVED it. The crust has enough bend to it so that you can fold your slice but has a wonderful crunch on the bottom. I can't say enough good things about this place. My band used to play here many moons ago, and we missed the pizza. Took the trip out for lunch on Sunday and had a great time. Pizza was great, the scenery was fantastic, and the prices weren't ridiculous. They also still serve Coke, and not some trendy off-brand replacement! My only complaint is the chairs: it's a fact that all outside furniture will eventually need replacement, and some of the wooden chairs are getting a bit long in the tooth. read more

Do not schedule an event here! I had coordinated an event here in March for our wedding rehearsal and it went terrible. We were told they don't do reservations, but later they let us make one for the wedding party itself, but not the extra guests. They said if our bridal party plus the extended wedding guests showed up at 5, they would be seated together, but they wouldn't be seated before that time as that's when the outdoor/patio area opens for all guests. Pizzas and apps would be served at that time. My mom prepaid for 4 tables to get two pizzas each and the apps. The 4 tables were to be set up together and that was strictly for the wedding party and the booze would also go on the tab. When the bride and groom arrived at 4:59, we found out that everyone was seated 15 minutes prior. (Note that bridal party and mother of the bride arrived 15 minute prior). Instead of serving the 4 tables, they set it up buffet style and all of the food was gone before the bride (me) and groom arrived. They also opened the tab for all guests that showed up without verifying with anyone who should be on the bill. They didn't contact myself or my mother and had both of our numbers. Instead of enjoying my time with the guests at the wedding pre party, I had to figure out why management didn't abide by the contract we signed and we had to make the wedding party provide their own food and drinks when we told them it would have been covered. I'm really upset that in looking back to what should have been a wonderful experience was and is remembered as how stressful it was that nothing went to plan. While the venue and food is good- I don't recommend planning any type of event here. read more

Great food. Decent service. Telling people they can't be seated for 45 mins because other customers are "done eating and paid out, but just chilling" is a good way to lose new customers. At least don't tell people that you can't manage tables. Also, with all the people waiting around, send a server out for drink orders. Is the manager not thinking? After a 60 minute wait, we were seated and the hostess cleaned the table as we were being seated. We picked up a dirty napkin under the table since our dog wanted to chew on it. We also picked up the dog bowl and water left by the previous customers. We brought our own bowl and thermos. After waiting at the table for 10 minutes, an excellent server arrived and took our order. We've now been waiting for 40 minutes for the order to arrive. It's a very simple order for two - a sloppy joe and personal pizza. Not many people on the patio now at 3:45 in the afternoon, so the issue may be one if kitchen staffing. Looking around, no one else looks to have food either. Food finally arrived. Sans utensils and napkins. This happened last time we were here as well. The food was great - but after nearly 2 hours, it may be that we were just hungry. We will be back, but I'm hoping the owner tweaks some processes in the meantime. read more

Hi. My buddy and I stumbled by this place just by passing by and decided to check it out. It's super hidden but the area seems to be an old rustic looking town with the Colorado river in the backdrop. Very nice. Neighbors was nestled within and has multi decked patios overlooking the river, and one place to have a beer and enjoy the hot humid weather. I ordered a few beers and native Texan was awesome. I had ordered some sweet Siracha wings. The flavor was very tasty. And we decided to order a pizza. I wanted something with meat and vegetables and my buddy wanted all meats. So we were able to half it; for me, el camino real and for my buddy a the grease bucket. Pizza came took a few minutes but we enjoyed another beer meanwhile. The big Pizza was delicious, toppings were huge and I say I made the right choice ordering the el Camino real. When I came this way again I'll definitely drop in. read more

Everything was so delicious and the staff were very attentive and friendly. We couldn't stay long due to a reservation we had to make at the farm. This place was so neat! We had a little mini-baby family reunion this past weekend and it was a blast. The staff were very kind and the manager made sure to make his presence known and was very friendly. This is such a unique and fun establishment! Very clean and tidy. The food was delicious and all our boys had a big time! It's been a VERY long time that we have experienced a bartender as snarky and mean as tonight. The blonde bartender was rude to group after group after group. Angry. Rude. Snappy. Everyone here is talking about her. Apparently, the other managers are not working tonight. She continually stated to bar patrons, "it'll be ten minutes before I help you." She has NO place behind the bar. Wait. No. She has no place working in any customer service establishment. Jet. For such a lovely place, it's a pity having a bartender like that. 1 star. Let me start by saying this place is great! The patio is awesome, and when combined with the good food and cold drinks it makes for a nice evening. However the main thing I remember is the flies all over us and our food. Hopefully they can resolve that. I know in Mexico, a cheap and easy way to deal with flies is to hang medium size clear bags full of water all around the eating area. I know they wouldn't look very nice, but it is better than having the pest problem. Also, nice bars in the area are very limited, They should look into keeping the bar open later. As of this post, the restaurant closes at 9pm on most nights, it would be nice if at least the bar were open later. read more

We wanted to get out of our house and explore downtown Bastrop, we were simply too tired of being at home and did not wanna drive to Austin. Seems like a lot of changes a lot of empty spaces and new businesses lately. We have had Neighbors about 2yrs ago it was okay then. We walked around and saw copper shot, wanted to try them but they were closed. We were sat two tables across the bar and have a good look at the kitchen. First off, the waitress that we've had was just off. Instead of introducing herself, she went off with "it had been an awful day". Customers don't need to hear about your runt of the day. We had their Margarita, Slice of Pepperoni, Cheese and their equivalent of supreme. Our Margarita came in 15mins later after we ordered mind you it was not busy on a Sunday around 8pm. The reason why our Margarita took so long cause the waitress just simply forgot. And it came to our table watered down. It was delicious though! I can taste the fresh juices that was used. The waitress asked if I would like another one and I nod my head and eyebrow yes. She smiled and said ok. 15 minutes later she claimed she could not read my body language and forgot. 15mins. Later we had to asked another waitress to go get it since it was again sitting in the bar. We have to asked another server to go grab our pies due to it was sitting in the window getting cold. She was polite and accommodated us. The pizza was good but it was a bit doughy, the pepperoni was salty. I can tell all the ingredients vegetables and the likes were fresh. Another minute in the oven would have been perfect. I like how its thin crust and not thick crust. Good flavor on the sauce. One thing we had noticed is there is no camaraderie. The bartender could have easily run the drinks he had tickets, same with the other waitress we should not have to asked for it. Although it is our waitress fault but she clearly had a bad day either personal or work issue. I hope they fix this issue, I would come back again for a piece of pie and margarita. read more
