This the the staff at the resister wrote down the order and my request for no veggies. She brings out 1 box of fried rice. I reminded her that I ordered 2 and she said that they put both orders in 1 box! I had to explained to her that I ordered 2 because it's for 2 PEOPLE. The menu is pretty extensive and while most of it is in Vietnamese, there are photos of the menu items and usually an English translation. We ordered: - Razor clams in spicy garlic - do not recommend, it didn't taste fresh - Blood clams - delicious, would recommend 10/10 - Bo luc lac with noodles - YUMMMMY. This place used to be Senses Restaurant but I believe they have changed ownership to what is now Nem Restaurant. When it was Senses, I made 2 attempts visiting and no luck. First trip, it was closed when it says "Open" on Yelp. Second trip, when my family and I walked in, they said they were closed because their kitchen was having issues. Now that's Nem Restaurant and finally being able to be seated to try it after seeing good reviews, I was left displeased. We ordered a couple of appetizers of steamed clams, razor clams, calamari heads, fried won tons, chicken wings, and braised pork belly with shrimp with 2 bowls of rice. Most of the food came out room temperature. The only dishes that came out hot was the steamed clams, chicken wings, and calamari rings. We ordered calamari heads but was given calamari rings. Our braised pork belly and shrimp was given at the table next to us... which we still took, but there was hardly any pork belly and we couldn't dig for any shrimp. It was tiny shredded pork belly strips that you would have to dig around with your utensils for something in that small bowl. They forgot our rice bowls as well. This might be a new business, but they need to improve on the quality of the food and service. I overheard that they are short staff and hopefully they are able to pull through to keep up. There was only 2 people in the kitchen, one host, and one server to the whole restaurant that you see people waiting for quite some time for their food as simple as an appetizer of French fries. The host was welcoming and accommodating, the server seemed to be forgetful... which I understand it is tough for only 2 people running the floor. Flavor of the food can be good and tasty, but serving it as room temperature is concerning. Bill was nearly $100 that I thought, "It is what it is. Now we know." What threw me off was the braised pork belly and shrimp that was barely anything in there costed us $24 (charged for 2 ppl). We got mild because we were eating with our grandma. 3.5/5 Fried shrimp with nem seasoning- crispy fried shrimp with fried garlic mix. So yummy from body to tail. Eat it all! 4/5 Razor clam with nem sauce- same sauce with the clams. Just as good. Their tamarind and basil mixture is different but delicious. 4/5 Chicken and salt fish fried rice- its not as flavorful and very minimal salted fish used. Could use some more salted fish. 2.5/5 Overall the seafood are fresh and our server was honest with us about not recommending a couple dishes because they don't want to use frozen proteins, I appreciate their honesty. Came here on a whim to find some yummy oc/snails in the area and I think we found the one. We only got to try the snails and fried rice. The rice was SO good one of my favorites and definitely worth trying. The peanuts were great appetizers as well. The snails tasted fresh and were super large. They had the green dipping sauce too that savory and sweet. The service overall was great! Everyone was helpful with the menu and was kind. Had great conversations with the worker as well. Only con is the menu needs to be new. I'm kinda hesitant to enter there but since yelp reviews are good, I went in anyway. I ordered clam dishes, frog leg, and garlic rice. A total of 5 dishes includes rice for 2 people. The portion is small. Only 5-6 clams/dish. We weren't even 50% full and the bill came out around $90. The food quality is just ok. The one in LA is better. While it's popular in Vietnam, selling snails here always a brave decision we order 4 dishes but too bizi to take photos. We were bizi to enjoy the meal ^^ recommend Bun Thai Tho (Seafood noodles Thai style) it was so delicious. They constantly asked us if we need anything and provide it to us. They let us freely decorated with no fee charge. We had such a great first experience at Nem tonight! We were craving Vietnamese food and wanted to eat outside so when we saw Nem had a little garden patio, we headed over. Most places in the area only have room for a few tables on the sidewalk or in the parking lot, so we appreciated the fully fenced in patio area with all of the plants and soft lighting. Nem has a pretty extensive non-alcoholic drink menu with various colorful sodas and milk teas. I got the butterfly pea flower milk tea and really enjoyed it. We started with an order of egg rolls. There were four in an order and were really crispy and flavorful. They came with a dipping sauce I really enjoyed as well. We then got hot pot #7 on the menu - beef in vinegar wrap with rice paper. We had never had Vietnamese hot pot before so weren't sure exactly what to expect. Luckily everyone was super friendly and helpful and they showed us how to wet the rice paper, fill it with veggies and herbs and then cook the beef to put on top before wrapping it up. It was delicious and we got the hang of making our own pretty quickly. As we were finishing our meal, they suggested a freshly made shredded coconut cake. We were pretty full from dinner, but gave it a try and it was really good. My boyfriend especially doesn't love overly sweet desserts, so we were happy to find this was sweet, but not too sweet and filled with so much delicious coconut. Overall we had such a fantastic dinner at Nem. All of the staff were so friendly and helpful, the food was delicious and it was great to have the outdoor seating option. All the shell fish was cooked perfectly. Not over cooked. Everything was very flavorful and all shellfish were fresh except the obtuse horn snail. I think it's not something you can get fresh in the US. So I thinks it's made from frozen packaged. It is what it is. The vermicelli Nem Style was so good! I think this dish will nag me to go back ASAP. The waitress described it as Bun Bo Hue with a twist and non spicy. It was one of my favorite dish. I love this place. There is not much of theses restaurants around the bay area. I treated my relatives who usually don't eat clams and snails and they loved it. Definitely bookmark this place. If you feel like have a light meal or something different definitely try this.
