A Sushi buffet? yes please! What a cool idea, chilled conveyor system where you can pluck your plates and eat away however you are not paying per plate- you pay a flat fee when you walk in. I love the rotating Sushi places, gives you options to choose a variety of roll's and get more options/variety for your taste buds. This place takes it a step further so if you are really hungry, your ill certainly save money. My appetite, its a break even but that's ok. I would suggest you go during busier times of day so you have more choices of the roll types to eat.

Fayetteville Roll, one of my favorites!

My husband and I come to Rockin Rolls Sushi when we want to eat a lot. It's a unique and exciting experience with the conveyor belt. On our recent trip we sat at the best table where the conveyor belt starts, so that was really fun for us. Is this the best sushi I've every had? Of course not, but it is decent sushi and AYCE, so come hungry to get your moneys worth! My favorite rolls are the Fayetteville Roll and the Raleigh Roll. They only put 3-4 small pieces of such on each plate so you get the chance to try all the different rolls if you want. However, I don't recommend the Crazy Monkey Roll (deep fried banana... it's just weird). There is a iPad at every table and you can order as much as you want. We like the Beef Gyoza and Hibachi Steak. The steak always seems a bit overcooked to me but I enjoy eating it with sauce and for the price/AYCE, I don't mind at all. The service is always good as well. FYI: they are changing their name to Neo Sushi Express soon.

I visited Rockin Roll Sushi last weekend as it was near my house. As someone who regularly makes miso soup, I was pretty disappointed in the soup dispenser... and that was just the beginning of the experience. Despite the good front door service and prompt delivery of hibachi, I was scared of getting food poisoning the whole time. Most of the hibachi was inedible and felt extremely overcooked/not fresh, and the sushi fish was semi-dry. I thought that flavors echoed an Asian-inspired food rather than an authentic one. I also felt the rice was not seasoned with any type of rice vinegar or salt, and the sushi desperately needed that kick. I couldn't even find wasabi. I will likely not be back, but I give this location a 2-star due to its good service and conveyor belt sushi experience.

This place is great*! *... if you know what you are getting yourself into! To be honest, when I heard all you can eat conveyor belt sushi and $18 for dinner and ~$15 for lunch... you don't set your expectation to be some wild luxurious Jiro Dreams of Sushi adventure. That being said, if you come in with some set expectations on quality based on price, I think this place did pretty well! It was great that we paid up front so we stopped worrying about paying for it at the end and we went at it! The sushi slowly moved through and we had a chance to try everything we wanted to try! The made to order warm food was ordered through the tablet. Boy was I surprised when the 2 highlights of this meal was the cucumber salad and the fried chicken! The cucumber salad was really good and crunchy with the right amount of salt, vinegar, and sweetness! The chicken wings were well seasoned on the inside and crunchy on the outside. The sushi was as to be expected! It was ok and I was fine with that! They didn't overdo the rice and if they did, you could just not grab that plate from the conveyor belt. It was a fun adventure that i would certainly go to again if I have a craving for cheap sushi (or fried chicken and cucumber salad)!

Came here for a simple date night after hearing many people rave about this place. I didn't expect much but the inside was spacious, clean and did not have an odor. It was about $20 a person and that included everything. We were seated and the sushi started to roll out. Everything is labeled and was fresh and tasty. You can order other menu items using the screen!

Not the best sushi.. but tue experience was pretty great. My daughters love this place for the belt sushi experience where they can try different sushi. The none sushi food menu is also extensive. AYCE experience-

I love Rockin Rolls Express in Durham! I come here all the way from Greensboro just for the sushi. While it's not the best sushi ever. You can't beat the price and experience. I enjoy simply being able to grab as much sushi as I want off of the constantly revolving conveyer belt. The added items which can be ordered from the IPad are delicious as well! The food ordered comes out quick. Be sure to come hungry as you will surely be full when you leave!

These are also included in the meal price.

This place is worth a visit for the experience. It's a little run down but I love the conveyor belt sushi and it's all you can eat so you can try a bunch of different kinds. That being said, the sushi is objectively terrible (dry, bland, every roll basically tastes the same). It's very inexpensive and it comes with desserts, snacks, on-order entrees (meat and rice), and appetizers. The crab rangoons were okay. I would recommend going once but I'd probably never go again.

We love the experience at rockin roll both the Raleigh and Durham locations. The conveyer belt style makes it a fun and unique dining experience. There is a sauce bar area with many options as well as a station for miso soup. Aside from sushi it's also all you can eat hibachi, appetizers, desserts, and their is a kid menu. You order these items on the tablet and they are brought to your table. Don't skip on the chicken the wings and skewers are so good! Expectations are important. Don't come in expecting top tier sushi it's honestly a step above grocery store sushi. The rolls are simple and the plate portions are small. It's more about the bang for your buck and it's such a fun vibe. Great spot to bring family and friends. There is something for everyone. If higher quality all you can eat sushi is what you're searching for check out Mr. Tokyo. More upscale experience at around the same price point. Bigger rolls means more filling so are far as all you can eat goes expect to eat a lot less. I highly recommend both. I personally prefer rockin roll because I love the comfortable casual atmosphere and we have had amazing service every time!

This place was so cool to go to for the first time. Very modern colorful place, good for families. Have been many times now and is a solid place. Went for lunch and it was only about $30 for two of us and I was able to eat a lot of food for that price. The sushi is pretty good, i enjoy the richmond roll and volcano roll the most. Definitely a cool place to try out.

I think this is a great deal! You can go here and get all you can eat sushi for dinner for less than $20. That's impressive!! I love the deal. Of course, the sushi is not as good as at more expensive restaurants. There is a lot of rice compared to how much fish you get. And the fish is not the nicest fish I've ever seen. But that's understandable! And I love the conveyor belt. It's really fun to watch all the sushi go by. It's always full!!

I came to Rockin Rolls with really low expectations but found myself pleasantly surprised. For under $20 this is a decent AYCE revolving sushi place! I came with a friend for lunch and the place was not terribly crowded. You pay at the front before you're seated. There are self serve sauce, drink, miso soup, appetizer, and dessert options. The revolving conveyor belt goes surprisingly fast (or maybe I just deliberate very slowly) so be careful not to jostle the other plates when you make your choice. There's also a digital screen at each table where you can order apps and main courses, and someone will bring them to you. Service was pretty quick. I was not expecting high quality fish nor did they provide high quality fish, but there were some pretty fun rolls and things I would tend to skip at pricier AYCE places. I don't recall the names but most of the rolls I had were pretty decent. I also enjoyed the tempura shrimp, which we ordered from the kitchen. They were really crispy and the oil didn't taste old. They were unfortunately out of miso soup when we were there. This was overall a pretty nice experience. Rockin rolls is where I'll go when I get a craving for grocery store sushi, as it's much more cost-effective!

Atmosphere: Rockin Rolls Sushi Express is a spacious restaurant that boasts their iconic sushi conveyor belt. There is also a self-serve bar for sauces and side dishes. Service: We were surprised by how busy the restaurant was on a Tuesday night -- we waited around 20 minutes for a table. Once seated, you can take sushi dishes from the conveyer belt and order additional side dishes on the table's iPad. Food: We tried several of the rolls as well as their crab rangoons, shrimp tempura, chicken wings, and steak hibachi. We'd skip out of the wings and steak hibachi, but the crab rangoons and shrimp tempura were decent. All of the rolls were pretty standard, probably being only a tiny step above grocery store sushi. Our favorites were the Tempura Shrimp Roll and Spider Roll. Overall: Rockin Rolls is probably a good choice if you are randomly craving sushi, are on a tighter budget, and are limited to the Durham area. The sushi options weren't as plentiful as other AYCE places, but were sufficient for the lower price.

The rolls looked pretty nice when they came out -- colorful with different toppings, sauces drizzled on top, and some green onions. The fish tasted fresh enough and the rice was okay, not too hard or mushy. But honestly, the flavors were just average. Some rolls were a bit too sweet from the sauce, others a little salty from the roe. It was creative, but nothing that really blew me away. The place has a nice warm wooden table vibe and the lighting is good for photos. Service was quick, no long wait. Price-wise, it felt a little expensive for Durham -- four rolls and we weren't super impressed with the value. It was fine for a casual meal, but I wouldn't go out of my way to come back just for the sushi. Might try something else next time or their omakase to see if it's better.

One roll was the Rainbow roll, traditionally a California roll with tuna, salmon, avocado, and white fish wrapped around it on the outside. The second was a house special, the Blue Devil Roll. It is shrimp tempura and cucumber topped with seared filet mignon, eel sauce and scallions. The seared beef was a surprising flavor, along with the eel sauce. Both were gone rather quickly. The sushi that was coming through on that conveyor belt was so fresh! A started with a spicy tuna roll because it came by first. The right amount of spicy tuna to rice ratio made perfect by the pickled ginger that my server brought to the table.
