Oohhh, sweet sweet Shijiri. You're a divine angel soaring high above other mere mortal sushi restaurants. The talent and fresh perspective you bring to American Japanese cuisine deserves to be honored, praised and frankly, worshiped by the other "sushi" restaurants in this area. Shijiri is wholely unique in it's take on Japanese cuisine as it serves it's meals very similarly in style to what you'd get in Japan, in "sets". This means your fish will come with sushi rice, soup, salad and other goodies that pair with the main course. You can order some fish a la carte but the beauty of this restaurant lies within the sets. You might scoff at the prices, but the prices "include" tip because they do not allow tipping in this restaurant. And, you get PLENTY of food in each set. The price points are extremely reasonable. The lack of tipping does not dilute the service, either. Just like in Japan, the service is top notch and the two times we've been here so far, it has been amazing. The first time we went here we got the Shijiri gallery and we're blown away by the fish and how fresh it tasted. The second time we went we got the signature and the kama. I can't say enough about how good the kama was. This collar was huge, with perfectly crispy skin and smooth buttery meat. The salmon belly and shrimp it came with we're equally cooked to perfection. I don't know how I'm gonna order anything else now that I've had it, it was so insanely good. The signature, though, was not on the same level as the gallery. I can't be certain, but I believe they serve the prime cuts of fish with the gallery and the less than prime cuts with the signature. I felt like the fish in the signature had a more metallic taste than what we got in the gallery. This could be a one off, though. The first time we came we were gifted a plum ice finisher, like their version of an Andes mint but it was plum and yuzu flavored shaved ice. Oh em gee, it was so stinkin' good! I was bummed when we didn't get it the second go. The restaurant itself is small and they fill up quick. The service is fast though, so I don't think you'd be waiting too long if there was a wait on a busy night. Be aware that the chairs are backless, but most tables have a booth component so if you're like me and need a back to your chair to be comfortable, you can sit on the booth side. The restaurant has been extremely clean when we've been there. The back area where the bathrooms are is cluttered and really the only stain in the restaurant as a whole. The bathrooms themselves are emaculate, though. Hopefully they find a way to utilize the space better and declutter that back area. In summary: go here.

Craving sushi! We saw this place was new, so let's dig in! We walk in and get seated at the bar (best seat in the house) this was a very authentic take on sushi in Japan....fo real! We had the lovely surprise to sit next to the owner. Wonderful man, and suggested we start off with the wagu nigiri. Execution of the appetizer might have needed a little more finesse but the flavors were "punch in your mouth" good! We ordered the signature sushi platter and the aburi collection. First of all, the array of dishes you get is fit for a king. Each piece of nigiri and sashimi was delicate, flavorful, and perfectly mouth sized. There was so much hospitality, purity, sweetness from the staff. Enjoy a taste of Japan!

Great service and good lunch menu. Venue: bright and clean. Food: some fishes were good quality and some were mediocre. Did not pick up traditional taste of Japan. Luke warm miso soup. I like the extra sauce with fresh wasabi and spicy sauce- something different. Sushi rice was different- maybe used shoyu instead of traditional sumeshi. They also spice some sort of sweet lemonade shot as an amuse bouche which is unique but too sweet. Price: hmm. This one is tricky as price on the menu is pretty high but they don't accept tip- the price on the menu reflects with tip. I kind of like that but don't know with the higher menu price. Service: great smile and nice.

Getting to Shijiri Sushi Bar before the Friday dinner rush was the best decision--we were seated immediately while a line started forming behind us. Everything we ordered showcased the restaurant's commitment to quality. The Shijiri Signature was a beautifully curated assortment, the Seared Wagyu Nigiri absolutely lived up to the hype with its rich, buttery flavor, and the uni was incredibly fresh, sweet, and creamy. Even the simple side salad and seaweed salad were crisp and well prepared. A couple of cold Kirin Ichiban beers paired perfectly with the meal. We were a little disappointed that we missed the last serving of the Mango Panna Cotta with Coconut Cream, but the Homemade Matcha Cheesecake was an excellent consolation--light, creamy, and not overly sweet. One thing that really stood out was the service. Even with their no-tip policy, the staff was genuinely warm, attentive, and always nearby without being intrusive. It's refreshing to experience hospitality that's focused entirely on taking care of guests. Fresh fish, thoughtful presentation, attentive service, and a relaxed atmosphere make Shijiri one of the best sushi spots in the Triangle. We'll definitely be back--and next time, we're getting there early enough to snag that Mango Panna Cotta!

We went to visit my aunt and uncle in NC and dropped by this gorgeous sushi restaurant. The service was top-notch. The sushi was super fresh and not fishy like at other restaurants. This restaurant is kid-friendly. My son had the Heiji Donburi kid set. He devoured it. The Mango Panna Cotta dessert was so delicious. There are plenty of tables, chairs and bar stools. Super clean! The wait wasn't too bad. We got served right away on a Wednesday afternoon.

If you're a sashimi lover in the Triangle, you have to check out Shijiri Sushi Bar in Morrisville. It's a super bright, welcoming spot with a "no-tipping" concept that makes the whole experience feel really seamless. The staff is incredibly friendly, and the portions are actually generous. I went for the Shijiri Signature (17-pcs), and honestly, the fish is so fresh it literally melts in your mouth, especially the O-Toro and Hamachi. I also tried the salmon set with brown rice, which was just as high quality. It's easily some of the best sushi in the area. If you're looking for premium cuts without the typical fuss, this is the place!

Shijiri Sushi Bar is easily one of the most refined sushi experiences I've had in the area. We ordered the Ocean Taster and the Shijiri Signature Combo, which ended up being the perfect way to explore the menu. Every piece felt carefully composed, from the texture of the fish to how it paired with the rice. What I appreciated most was the consistency. When you're ordering a full spread like that, there's usually a standout or two and the rest fade into the background. Here, every bite held its own and kept you excited for the next. The space itself adds to the experience. It's calm, minimal, and lets the food be the focus. It's a great spot for a slower dinner where you can actually enjoy each course, whether it's a date night or just a really good meal out. This is the kind of place you go when you want seafood done right. Already looking forward to going back!

A lovely little restaurant! My husband and I came for date night, we arrived at opening and were seated quickly - they only seat you if you have your whole party there. We took the suggestion of the server to order uni since she said it was fresh from Hokkaido that day and we had never tried it before so we said yes please! It was delicious and so refreshing. I ordered the unagi set and my husband ordered a sushi set - the unagi was decent (I'm comparing to what I had in Japan and it's certainly not on that level but still good. I'm guessing it's previously frozen eel) We finished off with a refresher. The staff was nice and efficient, I noticed the owner standing near the front and smiling at everyone and I felt like he really cared about the restaurant! They did a good job making it feel like you're in mini Japan in the middle of NC.

This place is five stars across the board! The adorable restaurant is small, but accommodating and so kid friendly. They sat us within 10 mins with our two kids, had kids utensils, plates, and even gave our older daughter a toy. Now the food... WOW, the food was so fresh and delicious. It was presented beautifully and we didn't have to wait that long. The staff was so kindness and friendly and made everyone feel so welcome. It's a family restaurant with a cool story, and they really pass that down through everyone who works there! Keep in mind, you can't leave a tip on card, so being cash! They deserve it!

I came here on a weekday night, and it was easy to get a table quickly. Really impressed by how much attention to detail there was to the whole experience. The interior is cozy, and all of the staff seemed genuinely happy to see us, which made it feel very welcoming from the start. Their edamame, which was served steaming, lightly salted, and very fresh. We got the Shijiri signature, and the portions were generous. They're a no-tipping restaurant, so the prices are inclusive of that. The sashimi pieces were large and very fresh. They also sell cute sushi keychains. Overall, a really thoughtful and high quality dining experience. Will definitely come back!

Service and food is excellent. We shared the Shijiri Reserve and a bottle Jumai 45 sake. Fish was fresh and tasty. They have some different sauces they also provide. The wasabi one was really good. They also provide regular wasabi. I would recommend for the person interested in authentic sets. There is also a no tipping policy which is refreshing.

10/10 one of the best, most authentic, and affordable sushi restaurants I've been to. We walked in for a Sunday dinner and got seated right away. The inside of the restaurant is very clean and bright, with simple Japanese decor and a surprising amount of seating for the small store front. Following traditional Japanese practice, this is a no tipping establishment, so you know the service is going to be great. Now onto the food: would highly recommend the Shijiri signature set if you are a fish lover. 17-piece chef's choice meal set with miso soup, salad, poke, and sushi rice included, all for only $69! Talk about a deal. All of the fish was super fresh and buttery, and the presentation absolutely blew us away. The entire set is more than enough to fill your stomach. The mackerel set was also phenomenal, and would like to come back to try other grilled and fresh sets on the menu!

Probably the best fish and dining experience I've had in the triangle. The food was good but the service was even better. Our waitress was patient, kind, and very happy to explain the menu and offer recommendations. The owner was present and talking to different customers while also helping his team run food and get people seated. Lovely ambiance with a very light brown and open concept. Would recommend and would return :)

The broth had great depth, the spice provided a nice kick, loved all the different toppings but I do think there could have been more pork. - Tonkatsu Ramen (Signature rich pork broth, pork belly, bamboo shoot, wood ear mushroom, green onion, 1/2 seasoned soft-boiled egg, thin straight noodles): Same great broth as the tan tan, chashu was perfectly fatty and tender, liked all the toppings again. The noodles themselves didn't really stand out to me. - Chicken Teriyaki Bento Box (Dashimaki, shrimp shumai, salad, pickles, rice, miso soup): Ehh... this was fine, but I'd definitely skip it next time. For the price, the quantity and quality of everything but maybe the chicken (which was smoky but way too sweet) was lackluster. - Chicken Curry Don (Panko breaded chicken cutlet, Japanese-style curry sauce, potato, carrot, onion, nori): The chicken was crispy, but quantity was so small. Curry was tasty, but inadequately warmed. - Raindrop (Plant-based ice jelly, brown sugar syrup, soybean powder): Such a unique dessert- ofc the visual is great, but the texture was interesting and it was subtly sweet too. Ambiance is nice, but the space is pretty small. Service was fast and friendly. There's plentiful parking. 7.5/10 would recommend!

The chef curates a multi course and highly personalized tasting menu. My wife and I had the pleasure to partake in this unbelievable experience for our 21st anniversary, and it was hands down one of the best meals we've ever had. Not this month, not just sushi, not just in NC...but one of the top meals of all time anywhere. We had the Grand Omakase, which came out to 10 courses in total. I won't go into detail on each and every course, but let's just say that each and every course was of the highest quality fish, sushi or meat we've had anywhere. From the sushi flown out straight from Japan, to the beluga caviar and A5 Wagyu, and everything in between. We've had sushi across the nation and overseas, 100s of times. This has taken the top #1 spot out of all of them, especially with what we were served in the Grand Omakase package. Impeccable service, 8 sushi chefs all working efficiently at once in an open style sushi kitchen, all within a classy (but not pretentious by any means) establishment.
