Great dinner spot. Our food was delicious; the gundi al tartufo nero and garganelli al ragu were the favorites at our table. Love the fresh veggie starter plate. Excellent service and a top-notch bar with unique and amazing cocktails. We've tried several appetizers (all good), and the swordfish is excellent and melt-in-your-mouth. Desserts are really tasty as well. The lounge upstairs is a great hang for a younger crowd with good music and a comfy sofas. Again, the cocktails upstairs are superb as well. Such a HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT!!!! I decided to give this place a shot since it's in my neighborhood. 6 of my friends went in one evening for dinner and drinks. We went to the upstairs bar area and had to wait on a table (understandable). Once we were finally seated, we were greeted by a waiter who started off pretty friendly. Well the attitude quickly turned south. I found this place to be sexist and somewhat classist. I was on my way to Eataly and it happened to be closed on a Monday night(right after the super hectic opening week). At first I was like WTF! This turned out to be a blessing in disguise. My brain was already set on Italian and I was hangry so I found Nerano on Eater LA and what a find this was! I had the pappardelle al ragu d'anatra(flat noodle with duck ragu)-$28. Like pretty much most other good Italian restaurants, tutta la pasta fatta in casa. The dish was topped with candied orange zest which cut through and balanced the saltiness of the duck in the most elegant way. For dessert, I had the Nocciolino-$12, which is dark chocolate mousse with hazelnut gelato topped with toasted meringue all in a big coffee cup. This was amazing . I was impressed with knowledgeable and friendly staff, especially Patrick(manager/owner?), who came and talked to me after dinner and made sure everything was good w the meal. The place is a bit pricey, but worth it...and it is BH after all. They have multiple crudos, grilled fish, and beef options and a cool lounge. Will definitely come back. read more

Got a chance to eat here last week and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. We sat upstairs where there was a nice comfortable couch and a DJ playing music which made for a cool atmosphere (not obnoxiously loud so I couldn't hear my girlfriend talk, but just enough to make us bob our heads a little as we ate!) Our server, Ren was great in suggesting appetizers and wine. For my main course I got the Bolognese pasta, which hit the spot! Overall I'd have to say this place is overrated and overpriced.. Maybe there are some great items on their pretentious menu but who knows.. It's pretty bad when you can't even finish your gulf shrimp because they taste like they've been sitting around in cold seafood water for too long.. So that leaves the salad which had a bitter tasting vinaigrette and undercooked artichokes.. The bread on the table wasn't great either, I only ate it because I was hungry and it was the most edible piece of food on the table.. Not at all what I'd expect from a higher end restaurant in Beverly Hills.. To be fair they asked us how everything was but that was before I could even take a bite but still I'm not one to complain and ask for new food especially when I'm there on a business meeting.. I think I have been here 6 times in the last 10 months! The pasta is truly amazing, the prices reasonable and the service fantastic. I also have seen a celebrity every time I have come. I come for the food and service, but it's always fun to spot someone else enjoying a place you like. Lastly, the decor is nicely warm and understated, which is a nice change for this town. One last thing...the chocolate dessert thing they put together is hands down my favorite dessert in LA (probably the country). I'd get that thing to go if I could! read more

We felt very Rushed. Server was On top of us to order even after we had drinks and ordered a pizza to start. We could not relax. After we ordered she disappeared. When we finally got her attention we wanted refills on our drinks it took a long time to get them. Food was very good., no complaints until the Bill came and they made a $150 error when splitting the bill. Good that my guests caught it and when we showed it to her she saw it immediately and didn't as much say sorry. She said she would take care if it I would have thought the manager would have come over to apologize but maybe she never told him. If I were ever to go back I would go upstairs to their bar where it is quite and you can get the same food as downstairs and not be rushed or overcharged. read more

My husband & I went to Nerano for our bday celebration back in July. This is obviously a very late review. From what I remember, their customer service was top notch. Without giving specifics, we were pleasantly surprised to find out how different Nerano was compared to other restaurants on a busy Friday night. They know how to make each customer feels special & welcomed. The food & drinks were awesome too. We'll definitely go back to Nerano soon. For Parking, they have a valet service but, luckily, we found a metered parking on SM about a block from the restaurant. read more

For the prices they charge, Nerano should be better. The food is pretty good and so was the service the night we were there. But the room is confining, like a railroad car with an aisle down the middle, and the music was very loud. I liked the complimenary crudite, rather than the standard bread. The menu is somewhat limited with pizza and pasta emphasized and almost all at $25 or more. Fish is $37-39 but there was a swordfish "special". I didn't want to ask the price. Turned out it was $53 and not really that special. There are other high end Italians that are nicer, Il Piccolino, Angelini Osteria, to name two or about a mile away is Da Pasquale which has equivalent food and service, better menu choices and much lower prices. read more

My friend and I walked over after she picked me up from the airport later in the evening on a Thursday night. We were first greeted without any smiles and the manager kept pushing us to sit at the bar only. We finally got to sit at a table, mind you there were maybe 10 people in total in the whole space. We sat and right away ordered. The food was pretty decent or so I thought. Later that same night my stomach began to toss and turn and I just tried to ignore it. First thing in the morning I woke up to stomach cramps and instantly ran to the bathroom to throw up. Mind you, I had not had any other meal that day due to some last minute flight changes flying from Miami. Then I get a text from my friend asking if my stomach had been hurting and that she had been throwing up all night. Obviously the only rational culprit would be the place we both ate at hours before. This is where the story gets much worse. She called the restaurant and asked to speak to the manager regarding the issue and just to make him aware in case it became a larger issue with more people involved. He became very defensive with her and began to accuse her of having me in on the scheme. He even asked "oh was that guy you were with your boyfriend," which I think is HIGHLY inappropriate and completely incorrect, ask my boyfriend if she is lol. Then he went on to say that his "2 year old son eats here everyday and never has been sick," another rude undermining of the issue on his part. I was floored when she relayed this all to me and immediately picked up the phone to call. The manager was "unavailable at the time but would return my call immediately," it is encroaching 24hrs still without any follow up. Oh and I do want to state that my friend has ordered from this place countless of times from Postmates and never had an issue. In fact, she raves about the truffle pizza and was the only reason we walked over from the apartment located on Durant, on block away from this place. I work in management at a start up and am completely disgusted at this guys management style. A pompous jerk never works out as a manager. Especially one that takes every complaint as a personal attack when a customer is merely warning you of potential issues. Will never return and hope no one runs into this issue or worse, has to deal with this unprofessional manager. read more

We were frequent customers since it opened and recommended Nerano enthusiastically to our friends. The food was great and we liked the sophisticated ambiance. But on Christmas Eve we found ourselves in a disco joint. You come to a good restaurant to enjoy the food and your friends not the pulsing beat of some disco band. We asked the manager to help us out and turn down (or preferably change) the music, but he said his hands were tied. The music was the new ambiance required by the owner. So we have voted with our feet and said goodbye to this place. read more

I couldn't decide between the Spaghetti alla Nerano and Ravioli di Zucca, so the waitress kindly suggested I get half and half, which was a delightful surprise. I still can't decide which was better, so am so pleased I was able to try both. Following dinner, we went upstairs to their cozy bar. This restaurant is great for any nice occasion whether it's friends getting together, a business dinner or large group of friends getting together. As one enters from a private side entrance on Santa Monica Boulevard, you walk into this fabulous petite eatery. Everything is well designed, from the bar to the booths, to the tables. It is intimate, yet very open in feeling. Once you go through the ritual of checking in with a troika of hosts, instead of being escorted directly to your table, you are directed to an elevator ensconced behind a velvet curtain to Nerano's hidden second floor. There the décor is outfitted with high-top tables, couches and an elaborate bar, which has a TV broadcasting a current sporting event. It has great ambiance and vibe which can be romantic or just as perfect for friends to chit chat or just having a great drink( at a very expensive price), but worth it. If you want some nuts or chips, that's an extra eight bucks for a small dish. If you were waiting for your table to become available, a hostess then appears and escorts you to the elevator and carries your drink. The food is terrific as well as the waiters. You can actually hear a conversation at your table even amongst the fully- seated restaurant. I give the food and the waiters a four star rating, but the two managers an "F." The reason being as follows: My wife and I were one of the first diners to inaugurate the restaurant, since we love its sister restaurant, Toscana in Brentwood. We probably introduced another 15 couples to Nerano, whom were equally satisfied. We even had enjoyed a couple of lunches there, as well. So what happened? We made a reservation over the phone with Patrick, the co-manager, on February 14 (Valentine's Day ) for March 4, over three weeks in advance, and we thought all was fine... until we arrived. They have a routine there where the greeters give the ladies a kiss and the men are given a strong handshake, as if you were family. After going through the rituals, Patrick says he does not have us down for a reservation but will take care of us. My wife has a protracted conversation that she had made the reservation and reminded him when the booking had been done. We said we would go upstairs and wait for a table to open. In the meantime, we generate a bar bill for over a hundred bucks. After an hour, Patrick comps us with a pizza but still no table. He then offers to serve us dinner upstairs in the bar. That was not to my liking and since we had made a reservation for the restaurant, not the bar, that wasn't acceptable. We then got up and started to walk out with my wife and mother-in-law in tow. There was no resistance from Patrick for us to stay. As we was walking out, I noticed that there was an empty table which could have accommodated us. I asked Patrick "and what about that table?" His response was it was reserved for another party who had a reservation. I told him that we had a reservation too. He ignored me. I guess a twenty dollar bill would have changed the availability. We left! I don't blame the restaurant, but Patrick, for how poorly he handled the situation. A few days later, my wife called Nick, the head manager. He's a veteran "restauranteur" with great credentials from Bix in San Francisco and Toscana in Brentwood, where we were first introduced to him. After my wife had placed a call on Monday, then again on Wednesday, to make him aware of what had transpired, Nick never returned the call. After not receiving a call back after leaving two messages with the receptionist, she left one more and asked if Nick had been given the prior messages. The receptionist said the messages were given to Nick and that he was aware of the call and would call her back. Never happened! It seems like Nerano is being operated as a private club at the behest of Patrick and Nick. Bottom line: One of two things are going to happen. The restaurant will go out of business after becoming an expired fad within a year or two; or the owners will get some new management rather than keeping the two "amateur jerks" running the place now. Crossing the palm works in New York. It doesn't work for L.A. regulars. Am I willing to back? Of course but only when they get rid of the two inept managers. Setting was quite nice, we came early for Happy Hour and then ended up dining at the Bar. It was very empty when we arrived around 5:45pm. The bartender seemed a little inconvenienced by us sitting there and ordering food which felt odd. He disappeared when our entrees came and never quality checked us. There were some servers nearby waiting for tables kinda just hanging out by the bar, they actually watched and assisted us when needed. A woman arrived behind the bar and semi helped us but water was never refilled unless asked. My dad asked for water (he had never gotten one) and the women asked him if he wanted a glass? where else would he put it? Also, the phone kept ringing and it is really obnoxious if you are sitting at the bar, i would recommend turning the ringer down because no one answered it anyways, not even the hosts at the host stand. I did see a female server go over and answer it when it kept ringing. Overall just a not so great experience. I wouldn't go back read more
