It's usually pretty busy so it's probably best to make an appointment but I come as a walk in and don't mind waiting a short time. I like that they open new pouches of instruments in front of you and line the pedicure bowls. The massage chairs are very comfortable as well. If you pay in cash you get a small discount. Let's face it people of Montclair, pampering, even when necessary, doesn't come cheap in our town. Prices being pretty even around town NEW 2000 NAILS on Bloomfield HANDS DOWN (pun intended) is your best bet. The proprietor Joy could not be more lovely. The rest of the staff is courteous and at the end of the day they do wonderful work. Growing up in the area there has always been plenty of nail salon options so when I come back to visit I end up trying new places. This place had rave reviews and look like they do great gel design work. I came for a regular mani $15, pedi $30 and my mom got a regular pedi. So I'm going to start by saying I am really empathetic that businesses are bouncing back since the pandemic after not having customers be able to come in for so long. Not sure if they aren't fully staffed yet but on a Wednesday morning they were busy which is good for them. I came with my mom but they didn't try to time us together or have us sit together (I asked for the seat next to my mom but she was done by then anyway) which is a bummer because it would have been nice to get more quality mother-daughter time. I could tell they were trying to be quick and make sure they could fit all their appointments so I had a different person for my manicure and another for my pedicure then when I needed a color fixed, it was a third person to step in. I showed them a picture of the color I wanted -- a sheer peach or brownish nude but they couldn't find anything similar so I ended up with a sheer natural color that usually goes under french manis. It was so sheer that I asked for a simple design. She quoted me $15 at first but ended up at $10 since it was just one or two lines on each nail. Because my hands looked super natural I decided to get multi colored rainbow pedi. They have a ton of color selection which is a plus. After I was done, I was charged $25 and $40. I was perplexed, my mom's pedi was $30 but mine was $40... because I chose 5 colors, I was charged an extra $10. If I was told when I selected colors that there would be an upcharge, I would understand but I didn't get any design, just had multiple colors. It's not like it takes more time to paint different colors so a heads up to others that you will get charged more. I also have a peeve because I don't like gel nails. I don't get my nails done regularly anymore and removing gel ends up making them more damaged and brittle. I do feel like regular manis aren't given the same treatment because it doesn't make as much money as gels and it's not just this place. As someone who was really looking forward to getting her first mani pedi since the pandemic you can see how my expectations fell short. I'm willing to spend the dollars and didn't push back on the price but whenever I look at my nails I don't feel it was worth it. What was apparent to me is that the customer experience doesn't come first, the business does. While it's a nice place, I can't say I recommend or that I would go back for regular services. read more

Everyone here is very friendly. It's a pretty big salon and they have about 6 pedicure stations and probably about 6 mani stations too. A little pricey but they do a decent job. It's also pretty clean inside. There's a lady that goes around and gives a 2 min shoulder massage while your nails are drying and you could pay $15 extra for an additional 10 min massage- it's worth it :) They do a brief one minute hot stone rub with each pedicure which I really like. There's plenty of street parking in the surrounding streets. I would recommend it. read more

I was walking in Montclair and came across this salon and decided to give it a try. It was very easy to call and make an appointment post quarantine. When you arrive they check your temperature and ask you for your name for the appointment. The pedicure and manicure stations both have plastic dividers separating you and the nail tech and they use tub liners as well as new tools when doing your feet. Everyone working there also have mask on and all customer have to wear one too. The service I received was alright, they were very nice however the lady doing my feet had headphones on so when I tried to ask her something she couldn't hear me which was annoying because it's already hard to speak with a mask on; then the lady doing my nails did a great job but towards the end she started to rush me when another client came in which I didn't appreciate at all especially giving the $80 a paid with tip. I really liked this spot, it's right in downtown Montclair. It's a little hidden in Bloomfield Ave so make sure you're walking slow. I had Soolee and I loved the way my nails came out. I was very simple but she delivered. They give you a little massage while you're getting your nails done. The only thing that turned me off was it was $65 for a gel fill (This might have included the fact that I had my nails done elsewhere & three were broken/needed some fixing. I usually pay $40). Tried this place for the first time based on the reviews. I'm very picky when it comes to pedicures because I always get spa pedicures and they need to be deserving of being called a Spa pedicure. This place definitely delivered. Staff was absolutely friendly. My fiancé also got a pedicure and we both have in-grown nails. They were very gentle with our ingrown toe nails which I greatly appreciated. Not sure if I was just sensitive, but the massage on my legs was a bit painful, just on the shin, but I know that's the bony part. My gel manicure was great. The polish was put on well. No big gaps on the edges. They also spray hand sanitizer on your hands afterwards, which I think is good. Overall, I would definitely come back. Okay so I didn't even want to write a review because I'm not the one to usually spend my time doing this sh*t HOWEVER... A few weeks ago I called ahead to see if they could take a late night walk in and they were totally accommodating and I was welcomed in by everyone (who were all very nice and friendly). The place was pretty busy for later in the evening so I thought "I'm at the right place." I needed a set of UV gels ASAP and was prepared to pay upwards of $80. The price wasn't the problem because I assumed based off of their Yelp and Google reviews that it was going to be worth it..but the actual experience was...not good. Some of my cuticles were literally ripped off of my fingers and I began to bleed. It hurt a lot lol I didn't try to make a big deal about it because again I needed my nails done and they were the only place around able to take me so last minute and at the end of the night. The shape of the nails weren't smooth/seamless. While the tech was working on my nails other employees kept coming over and looking over her shoulder, they were all chatting and kept staring at my fingers so I couldn't help but think they recognized that I was not getting a quality set?? It took FOREVER I didn't think much of it at the time but now I'm convinced this specific tech did not know what she was doing and they took me as a walk in to make an extra sale before close (again understandable but it just seemed like this woman was not ready to perform the service I was requesting). I left feeling pretty bummed out I had just spent $100 ($80-something in total for the new set plus tip) for pretty average set and ripped up cuticles but I got over it since new nails always end up feeling good at the end of the day. Then 10 days later one of the nails popped off... that's sort of when I lost my shit because the point of paying $$$$$ to get a gel set is for how long they're supposed to last. Long story short I went to another place in Verona today to discover a much better establishment with a MUCH MORE SKILLED TECH who gave me exactly what I wanted in half the time for $55 without tip. That is why I am writing this review... this place needs to either charge less for a full set of gels or have better techs who know what they're doing. Or just be honest that they didn't have someone who could take me that night. Ugh. Maybe the woman who did my nails was just having an off day. On the upside, the back massage that they were upselling me was incredible. Regardless, I will not be back :/. read more

This is my go to place for a pedicure. I never really had a bad experience before until recently. I went here around 6 pm a couple days before my birthday to get a pedicure. Nothing crazy just a gel pedicure; no spa added to it. The woman filing the gel off my nail wasn't paying attention and filed my toe. Thankfully wasn't hurt. She then cuts it super short with no shape after I said I wanted it square. She paints over the nail so there's gel on my skin. And my toe nail is so thin that it's breaking off. read more

I've been a customer of New 2000 nails for a very long time. And as the years have passed, their service has declined (dramatically). My daughter and I had pedicures today which both nail techs were awful. They look at customers with $$$ over their head. When you come to the nail salon, you come to relax unwine and get pampered. There's no way in the world you have to explain to your nail tech how to do a pedicure that's unprofessional and unacceptable. THANKS BUT NOT THANKS I WILL NOT BE BACK AT ALL. Only good service is when you get a spa pedicure so you have to spend $65 in order to get treated like a customer a real customer anyway. Not to mention a regular pedicure is $35 per person. Customers Beware! Prior to going in I called New 2000 Nails to make sure they did gel-x manicures and asked for the price ($80) I currently had a set on and typically go to a salon in NYC. They were able to get me in day of for what I thought was a gel-x manicure. The man who did my nails knew I was there for gel-x and did not remove my existing set, which I questioned and said shouldn't you be removing these nails? He said no and insisted that a UV-gel fill is "much better". My nails were already drilled at this point and I didn't want to spend any more time in the salon especially when I asked for one thing and was given something totally different. When I went to pay he charged me $80 (I dont get UV gel fills so not sure if this is avg) I pay that much in NYC for a brand new set of Gel-X! Bottom line is he was probably too lazy to give me a whole new set and got away with charging me the same price. read more

Horrible! 0n 7/11 I walked in for a pedicure and was told to wait. A couple walked in after me and I was seated first (all fine so far). After 10 minutes the woman called me back. I sat in the chair and the tech began removing my polish and tapped my foot to put them in the water. All was fine until she left me to work on the woman who came in after me who happened to be white. When I saw this I immediately got disgusted. I dried my feet and left. I passed the tech and the owner and neither of them said anything. It really doesn't matter if the tech would return to finish my feet after. To me it's highly unprofessional to leave your guest without saying a word to then go work on someone else's feet, not to mention highly unsanitary. I will not return and don't recommend. read more
