At lunchtime on a Sunday workday I went on the hunt for an open Chinese take-out spot. I found New China Beach tucked in the corner of an industrial shopping plaza and actually thought it had permanently closed. It was actually in the extreme corner, literally a hole in the wall, next to a space for rent. If you love hole in the wall Chinese takeout, this place is as good as any other I've had and the interior looks the same. Of course the owner, who took my order, was very pleasant and polite. The wait for my shrimp chow mei fun wasn't long, and they gave me a complimentary can of soda on my way out! The chow mei fun and spring roll was pretty good and I would definitely go back!

This was really fantastic Chinese food. The place itself isn't fancy, but the food is truly something special.

The kitchen and the bathrooms looked like something out of the movie SAW. This place needs help.

We usually get the beef pho, which is thin sliced and rare, and finishes cooking in the hot broth. Served with Thai basil, lime, and other herbs to add to bowl. We spice it up w some hot sauce. Yum! Their grilled pork fried rice is exceptional! Large pieces of grilled pork dot the yummy and well seasoned rice. We are never disappointed here. Always have plenty of leftovers (mostly fried rice) to take home. Good food at a reasonable price! The restaurant appears small upon entering, but also has a large back room, nicely decorated, and able to accommodate large groups. The owner is personable and always remembers us. Highly recommend if you're craving Vietnamese food!

The veggies are fresh, meat is fresh, everything- the best tasting fresh Vietnamese food. I usually get the spring rolls with extra Thai basil, those are my go-to all day everyday. Today was cold, so a soup was on the menu. This may look like a whole in the wall, but the food is top-notch! You can have large parties if necessary as there are table tops as well as booths. Overall, I love this place when I found it 3 years ago, and I have been coming here regularly ever since!

What a beautiful and delicious experience we had at Ocean Hai. It's a level of elegance we wanted…read more The overall look from the entrance, the food, and the gorgeous patio is a must add to your list when in Clearwater! It was crazy hot so we couldn't sit on the patio but at sunset it was still a stunning view. Kalby was an absolute pleasure to be serviced by. She was attentive and used her talents to help recommend entrees from the menu. Our starter was the bulgogi skewers which were perfectly balanced with sweet and Korean spice. The edamame was our least favorite dish. I did discuss this with kalby and the manager. The idea was there but poor execution. The gochujang sea salt...the gochujang just wasn't there and once you ate that top layer all you got was oily edamame, so much oil...you wouldn't need chapstick for the rest of the day. Then wins though came from the cocktails. Ours were delicious and my old fashion was spot on. Also in the win was the sunset sushi, beautiful and fantastic, along with Korean crispy chicken. The peanut sauce was the perfect balance to that meal. Now...what we also loved that should be permanently on the menu was the mochi. We had 4 of them and they were wonderful! Everyone should be able to experience these. But ocean hai on your list as a must try place for sure.

Service here was not good. Someone told me five times that someone would come and take my order. It took a while. When I see someone come in after me and they have all their food, and I have not ordered, that's not good And the other table next to me they got all their food at totally diff times. I got my food actually pretty quickly after my order was put in so I was surprised and it was piping hot. You pay at the front here, they don't give you a bill at your table. They accept cash or card. Not Apple Pay which they said they did. I told her I'd get my card in the car and she looked at me as if I was going to dine and dash. I reassured her I was coming back and I surely did. The tables can definitely be loud so just keep that in mind when picking a table if you want to talk.
