Nice little place with great food, serving sizes and prices. Their General Tso's chicken is very good! Easy to order food online too.

The food is mediocre but disturbingly it looks like they are running a day care in the small dining area. It's all junked up with kids toys, a kids chair and a cot! See my pics. Ordered online & even though I had to provide my cvv # from credit card, I still had to sign slip at delivery which makes this a contact delivery, if you're worried about that. I paid my tip online but the slip included my tip in the total & then had a blank spot for the tip, so hopefully I'm not charged extra. I dislike leaving bad reviews but the food warrants it. I ordered the pepper steak & side of small fried rice w/ shrimp. The beef had a strange taste & the green peppers were so bitter, like they weren't cooked at all. The shrimp fried rice was tasteless. I put it in the fridge & said "see ya in 3 days when I throw everything out." Overall, sorry to say that my order was overpriced $23+, late 15 minutes, & inedible. Ordered lunch delivery of General Tso's entree, 2 shrimp rolls, an egg roll and a pint of shrimp fried rice. The chicken BADLY over cooked close to rubber. The shrimp & egg rolls, tough, hard to bite through hard to chew. Shrimp fried rice? didn't eat it. Delivery ? Got to my house in the time promised, but spent the next TEN MINUTES!! walking around my front yard. I ordered delivery, because I NEEDED delivery. I'm not very mobile. Driver didn't speak any English OR understand simple hand gestures. Called restaurant when the driver started to leave without delivering my food. No one spoke English. Thought that I was going to have to call my credit call. Final point especially pricey for quantity and quality. read more

Not expecting much reading others reviews I was pleasantly surprised with the food here. I ordered the General Tso combo and it was a huge serving packed to the gills. The chicken was cooked perfect and the sauce was tangy, sweet and spicy just as it should be. The fried rice was not great and really lacking anything sans color, but it was cooked well so it worked as a vessel to sop up the sauce. I also ordered a pint of Wonton Egg drop soup. The egg drop part was average, but the wontons were delicious. They had a flavor inside like pot stickers and they rocked! Next time I'll stick with the wonton soup. The eggroll was crispy and fresh. To be fair I've only eaten here once, its close to home but again if a chinese place has bad General Tso's they might as well have bad everything. Being from NY it is hard to find good Chinese food in St. Pete! But I will say that Spring Garden has excellent food! Always fresh and always hot! This is a typical Chinese restaurant with owners who have children so the children are present most days. They are always very sweet and kind! I don't mind them, also it's nice because when I bring my children they keep busy. I give this restaurant 5 stars compared to all the other Chinese take out places in St Pete. Who cares if there are children and toys, it's a TAKE OUT SPOT NOT A FINE DINING EXPERIENCE! read more

Love this place. You can order online for delivery, which is great when you can't cook or go out that day. The delivery person is always sweet, fast, and personable. The prices are competitive and the delivery fees are fair. The minimum order for delivery is $12. But remember to tip, or else make your own food! However, I was told that the delivery person may not receive the tip if you enter it online. Instead, leave nothing in the tip form on the online page, and put the tip on your CARD RECEIPT. Delivery people deal with a lot; make sure they get paid. If you're like me, you need to know what the crab ranging are like. They're the triangle ones! Yes!! Everything I've ordered from here is great and yummy (I mean, it's still American Chinese delivery food, but for what it is, it's exactly the good kind you're expecting.). They're significantly skimpy on the shrimp when you order it, but that's not a big deal. But when I say 'skimpy,' I mean they cut one shrimp in half and put it in an egg roll and charge more because it's a 'shrimp egg roll'). I think it's pretty good. In a town that is strangely lacking in good Chinese delivery it will do. I usually get Lo Mein, Shrimp and/or Beef Broccoli or Crab Rangoon. (not all at once) The food is a little inconsistent so if you hit it on a bad shift it might be sub par. The service on the other hand is really good. The lady behind the counter is always very friendly and cheerful and will throw in some drinks if you're a regular. There's not much at all for seating (I think literally two tables) so plan on take out or delivery. Keith the previous reviewer is right it's in a kind of run down shopping center next door to a coin laundromat so yeah..... take out or delivery. Fast and delicious. I had the Hunan Beef combo and switched the egg roll for the spring roll. The spring roll was mostly cabbage, which is perfect for me but not for everyone. It was cooked perfectly, a thin crispy exterior and a nice flavor. Fried rice, which I prefer, comes with the combo instead of white rice. A previous reviewer bemoaned that the fried rice was actually yellow rice. It was, in fact, yellow rice with pork and onion minus the fried egg. I loved the flavor, but I could see why some would take issue. The hunan beef was tender with just the right amount of heat, the vegetables retained some color and crispness, and the portion was generous enough for two meals. read more

An hour came and went and no sign of the food so we started calling and got no answer so I drove down to the restaurant and pulled up right as someone was locking the doors. They jumped into a vehicle and I knocked on the window. I said my coworker and I ordered over an hour ago and we've been calling and no one answered. The lady said "oh we're closed today". Actually it is the best Chinese delivery I have had to my house and will continue to be my go to for Chinese delivery. I don't understand all the negative reviews on here, but you know they say only the complainers post reviews, thus I am posting mine. DISHONEST & UNPROFESSIONAL!! I had them deliver 2 dinners to my house. The total came to $15.52, I accidently gave the driver $27.00 by mistake, called them to tell them I didn't mind given a $5 tip ON TOP of the delivery fee she gets, however $12 plus the fee $2 delivery fee is a little much... Her response was "Well, why you give her so much money?" I know i was a waiter & bartender for 5yrs and if someone gives me an overwhelming tip, i always asked "mam/sir did u mean to give me this amount?" Just to check, because accidents do happen. My wife and I visited here for lunch today and were not overly impressed. While at the counter placing our order I was looking at the dinner side of the menu and we ordered the General TSO and Garlic Chicken the total was $17.50 plus change etc..the lady behind the counter never mentioned that they had the EXACT same meals on the lunch menu for much less money and had I not noticed the lunch menu laying to the side she was going to charge me full dinner price even though it was still lunch time. The savings by switching to the EXACT same plates for lunch was $6.00 dollars less and she was not going to say a damn word about us overpaying. That was a bad start as far as I'm concened. The food was average at best...the rice was good and my wife enjoyed the egg-rolls...but this is certainly not a stand-out Chinese place. Also we were the only ones in the place and it took FOREVER to get our food..they seemed more concerned with reading a certified letter the mailman dropped off while we were there and made no effort to serve us quickly.
