Their hot and sour soup is perfect! Their steamed dumplings are also delicious. I pick up the dumplings (8 pieces) and a bowl of hot and sour for a quick lunch. We are also in phase two of reopening for Covid. They still have their dining area shut down. I had to call when I arrived. They have a chair outside that they set your food on. There was plastic wrap on the top half of the doorway so even with the door open we had a barrier between us. To me it looked like they took great safety precautions and definitely more so than other places. read more

This is exactly the kind of place that is so much fun to find. Yelp search results were what brought me here, so it wasn't blind chance (they already averaged over 4 stars), but you still wouldn't think much of it just by walking in. It's a big strip mall with a big parking lot on a big busy street out in the burbs. There are quite a few good places to eat around here, but most of them are bunched up a couple miles away, and the good Chinese places start getting fewer and farther between by the time you've gotten this far out of Seattle. It's so nice to find these guys mixed ion with all the chain franchises. It's clean and tidy when you open the door; all the furniture matches and there are flat screens on a couple walls, showing whatever happens to be on when the remote gets clicked. The music selection could be a lot less poppy for my taste, but that's not why we're here. The service skews pretty young--I'd guess our server was still a student, and maybe this is a family operation. She was *so* sweet and nice. She knew the whole menu cold, and was happy to answer detailed questions about ingredients, what her favorites were, and anything else that came to mind. She pointed out that they can frequently substitute ingredients or leave things out, if desired. I love this. And the food is really, really good. We started with dumplings (pot stickers)--the first plate was lukewarm, so she quickly replaced. They seemed housemade, with nice bold ginger flavors. Not the craziest dumplings you've ever seen, but a good appetizer. The hot and sour soup is one of the better ones I have tried; not too balsamic-y, plenty of crunchy ingredients, not too sticky thick. My mom and sister have made me a lifelong obsessive over this soup, and I'd have to say they'd rate this one pretty high, out of the dozens we have sampled. The eggplant was impressive--not too slippery, good tooth to the plant itself, nice complementary flavors. I'd put this up against eggplant from plenty of places. The mandarin fried chicken was probably the star of the show: clean, lively flavors, nice crunchy dry coating (no grease at all!) and fresh hot vegetables and peppers with it. The cumin lamb was also legit. No gaminess, plenty of cumin flavor but not overpowering. Lots of fresh crunchy vegetables around it. Especially for a Szechuan place, every dish here was remarkably low in oil content. I got sweet and sour pork, something maybe just called chicken and noodles, some egg rolls and some crab Rangoon. The S&S pork was not great. The sauce wasn't even actually good. But it was nostalgic so I didn't really care. The chicken and noodles was really good. My son liked it - and he hates most things. The noodles were great. The egg rolls were good - they were obviously made in house - not some frozen prepackaged thing. The crab Rangoon was.... Not good. Not a hint of krab. Basically a fried wonton with some cream cheese, with the standard weird red sauce. I was slightly resentful about that appetizer - I won't lie. Coming from southern California, I've been a bit disappointed in the quality and overall taste in restaurant food in general. I've been craving Chinese food for a while and have held off because, typically, ordering Chinese is a $30-$40 investment and have been skeptical about the return. I chose this restaurant based on its yelp reviews. There aren't many but the rating is higher than the fancier Mill Creek town center restaurant. Also, this restaurant offers one person dinner special meals. I was weary about the freshness of this order as its a "special" but at least it'll give me a taste of what they have to offer. We are a family with both vegetarians, meaty meat eaters, and meat eaters who like tofu. New China is the best Chinese restaurant we have ever eaten at, not hyperbole. The flavors taste home-cooked, not over sweet and tasteless. We have had several kinds of fried rice, Kung Pao tofu, Orange tofu, teriyaki chicken, and we always get a dish of just the broccoli as well. The veggies are crisp, the servings huge, the flavor great. I saw a review complaining about the looks of the teriyaki chicken with sesame seeds and watery looking. In our experience, sesame seeds are common on teriyaki, and even though it may appear watery the flavor wasn't lacking. Terrible for take out!!!! I had to go back with the food because the tops to the containers caved in and got all over. I asked them to get me all new food because it had gotten cold. The looked at me like they didn't want to do it however they did. I brought it home again and the same thing happened. They also forgot to put in some of the food that I had ordered. Food is tasty but definitely not what you would describe as authentic. Flavors are all a bit off form what you'd expect as true Szechuan-style--- much sweeter, thicker, and lighter on the spice. Had my classic go-to's at Szechuan with deep-fried chicken Szechuan-style (too heavy on the breading and sweet making it more like a General Tso's), Mapo tofu, Boiled fish in spicy chili oil sauce, and Shredded pork with garlic sauce. Wanted Chinese food one day and opened my yelp app to find a Chinese restaurant in the area... decided to try this place out... Wow... So glad we did! We also heard that there are new owners... We used to go to this place often because it had great food and great customer service. In the past few months, this has changed. The normal server is a bit slow and has a weird pace with giving food. I am usually halfway through my soup when my main meal comes in. And waiting for the soup can take 15-20 minutes on a slow day. However, today, there was a new server. She had her headphones on the entire time and was playing with her phone. She did not greet us coming in and tossed the menus on our table without saying anything. We had to wait 10 minutes for her to take our order and she never brought out water. We finally get our order in and wait 10 more minutes for water and tea. At that point, she put up a "We will be back soon" sign, with 3 tables of customers with no food, and walked off into the bathroom on her phone. Again, we did not even have a beverage. I would come to this place with my family many years ago. This used to be one of our favorite Chinese restaurants to go to for dinner. The owners were super sweet and had the best customer service. Fast forwarding to now, they have a new ownership. The food is different but still tastes good. I've been here a few times since the new ownership and I'll have to say I'm NOT impressed with the customer service. All the times I have gone here, I have been talked to and looked at rudely. In fact, I just came here today with some friends to dine in for the first time (I usually get take out) and the tables were dirty and the hostess said that she'll clean up the table before we get seated. However, she disappeared and didn't walk back out until another party came in. She cleaned their table first and sat them down before attending to our table - when we were waiting a long time. I have been to New China a couple of times now and ordered the cumin beef (one of my favorite Chinese meals). Their version of it tastes pretty good but the beef to onion ratio is way off (a lot of onions and a little beef). The price is also a bit high for what you get. My advice is to try this place once, but don't go too often. Your breath will smell like strong onions, you'll still be hungry after your meal, and your wallet will be lighter. read more

We didn't go for a while but then heard it was purchased again & now it is fantastic! The meats are all tender, each dish is flavorful. They have really good egg flower soup, which can be bland. Sweet & sour is something I try at most Chinese restaurants & theirs is exceptional. There is a good meat-to-breading ratio, the pork was tender & the sauce was both sweet & sour, unlike most places who just have thick sweet sauce. You won't be disappointed here. The food here is amazing. We come here every two weeks after getting our nails done next door and always order the rangoons and honey walnut shrimp, then we try something new along with it. So far everything we've tried has been delicious and the food is made fairly quickly so it's not a long wait. On top of that the rangoons are some of the best I've ever had and the honey walnut sauce is addicting. Unfortunately service does seem slower than usual lately, with one waitress just disappearing randomly and having to wait ages just to get the check. Ok, apparently this place has changed ownership and menu since I ate here. I often wait several months to post reviews to keep it anonymous. If I spend money with you, the quality should be the same even if I only eat there annually. To be fair to the new owner, I pulled my bad review and I'll give them another try. Just had our second great meal here. Had to come back and see if the first time was a fluke. Nope, this place is for real and the new owners are doing a great job. The food is delicious. Everything seems very fresh and tasty. The service is great and your order arrives quickly. Tonight, our family of three ordered kung pao chicken, beef broccoli, Mongolian beef, rice, and chow mein and it was more than enough for us. As a vegetarian, it's often been difficult to find a Chinese restaurant that offered vegetarian versions of the dishes I used to love, like General Tso's Chicken and Orange chicken. This restaurant is the definition of a hidden gem. They offer General Tso's Tofu and Orange Tofu. Me and my girlfriend ordered 1 of each and sampled both together. All I can say is that I was blown away. In fact, I was eating the Orange Tofu so quickly I accidentally ate an orange peel used for garnish and flavoring! My bad but no regrets haha. Finally, after many years of searching for a Chinese restaurant that could offer these things, I've found it. However, I understand that the vast majority of customers and potential customers will be non-vegetarian. So for them, all I can say that if this restaurant can perfectly pull off vegetarian versions of Chinese-American classics, just imagine how good their staples must be. I really just need to share this because my experience was horrifying. I ordered some food at this place that I have never been too before. I have never tasted Chinese food so horrible in my life. I don't even know what kind of meat it was it was supposed to be chicken but I don't think it was. I don't know what they are using, nothing tasted or looked like any Chinese food I've ever had in my life!! It was absolutely horrible and it made me sick. She not only didn't give me a receipt conveniently. She told me over the phone to bring the food in and that she would give me my money back I then get there she takes the food from me looks at it and says I can't give you your money back then wouldn't give me the food back either. This place is an immediate favorite!! My family and I ordered an assortment of dishes and decided to share family-style so we were all able to try a little of everything. So glad we did!
