Recently had an issue with my Nissan when the "red light car sign signal" remained on. It has to do with the security system. Usually when you start the car, this will turn off, but it didn't and I was unable to get my car going for several days. I read the user manual and tried to troubleshoot it and even charged my battery to make sure that was not an issue. But when there was no avail, I called the dealer to make an appointment. They did not have anything that week, but told me that if I had the car towed to the dealership, they would "work me" in that week. A whole week went by. I heard nothing from them. I called them a week later to see where we were and to inquire if they found out what was wrong with my car. I was surprised to find out that they hadn't even looked at my car. On speaking with the head of the service department, I was told they would try to see if they could look at my car by the end of the week. I told them that was not really acceptable as I wouldn't have had a functioning car for two weeks and I needed to go to work. After that conversation, they suddenly had an opening and was able to fix my car that day. When it comes to actually servicing the car, there's no issues with that, but I've noticed that their customer service has definitely dwindled over the last several years. When I first bought my car, they had such excellent service as you can see from my prior review, which I gave them 5/5 stars. They also had a shuttle service and could drop you off so you didn't have to wait at the dealership, but ever since Covid six years ago, that was never brought back. I've been coming here for years to service my car. I highly recommend Ralon Gella, Service Advisor. Ralon is extremely helpful and knowledgeable. I went to pick up my car on Saturday and was "assisted" by Ashley Takata, Service Advisor, and had the worst experience ever. Ashley T was extremely rude and unkind. After I paid for my service, Ashley T said that someone would bring my car around. No one brought my car around. I asked Ashley T where my car was and she denied saying that someone would bring my car around, ok my bad maybe I misunderstood her. I asked Ashley T. where my car was and she said it was somewhere on the lot and I had to find it. I asked if she was serious and she was. I asked her if she could give me a hint of where it was. Ashley T looked very annoyed and said in a rude tone that I can look for it on the lot and to use the button on my key to find it. I also want to add that when I dropped off my car on Thursday, I observed Ashley T being equally rude and abrasive to customers dropping off their vehicle. Took my car in for service today to have the oil changed mentioned to Janelle that my wheel was making a funny noise and was told we can't check it. It's a holiday funny I had an appointment on this holiday to have my oil changed. She was moving extremely slow and did not give any thought to what I was saying, even if I was standing in a wind gust with her nasty little attitude. I go to pick up my car and get a repair estimate and a multi point inspection. They had everything except the wheels inspected. I asked her if the other items would be covered under the warranty and she tells me you don't have a warranty. Yes I do. The paperwork is in the car and she walks away. The gist of this review is that my engine failed and had to be replaced but since the car is under warranty and I don't have to pay for it, they will not do the work. They are not honoring the warranty agreement. I recently bought my first Nissan. It's less than 2 years old but the engine completely failed while I was driving it on H-1 and I had it towed to New City Nissan to repair since it is still under warranty. They told me they would have to replace the entire engine and that it might take up to 2 weeks to arrive from the mainland and then an additional 3 days to complete the work. Well, that was August 4, 2025. Today is October 28, 2025 and they still have not started on my car. THEY HAVE HAD MY CAR FOR OVER 12 WEEKS AND HAVE NOT REPAIRED IT! This is the worst customer service I have ever experienced, and I will never buy a Nissan again. Five weeks after I dropped my car off, they said that they received the new engine but that they couldn't install it because they still have to order the supporting parts. I asked what other parts they needed and he mumbled something about a "gasket and things like that". He said it would probably take another week for the parts to come in and then they could install the engine. Are they ordering the parts one by one?! Or are they just not working on my car because they are losing money on it? I have called them so many times over the last few months and they didn't even bother to call me back after the first 2 weeks. I've also left messages with Courtney Tavae, their Customer Relations Manager. No call back from her either. I've asked for the managers to call me back. No one has called me back. They are just holding my car and there really isn't much I can do about it. I work all day, or else I would be over there demanding to speak to someone in person. Hopefully, the complaint I filed with the BBB will kick in soon. The bottom line is that they will not honor your warranty or service your car if it breaks under warranty. I bet if I had to pay for the repair, it would have been fixed the first week. I've never had this happen at any other dealership and I recommend you look elsewhere for your car. read more

i Have a Leaf, and it takes weeks to get a service appointment. I just had a regular maintenance service, and within days, in which my Leaf was only driven once, it won't start. When I try to start it all sorts of warning lights start flashing, to the point where I'm afraid something might blow up. I called the service department and was toyed with by their "digital assistant," who sounds unnervingly human. I finally got a human, who was just as unhelpful. I can't get an appointment for 11 days, and the "diagnosis" will cost $240. What? It was just there for service, which should include basic diagnoses. No concern. No understanding. Worst service I have gotten at any dealership. I was not told a timeline for truck to get windshield replacement as it was a defect on a new truck. I waited over 2 months for the part as well. I asked multiple times over the phone and when I dropped off. I was told "it shouldn't take long". I dropped off truck at 7am and it took over 8 hours. No one gave any update ever throughout the whole time. I had to call and told me 2 hours and I still had to wait longer. And worst is no one even asked what I was waiting for, apologized or even asked how I was doing. I took off work for this and waited around as I was told "it shouldn't take long". If this was gonna take all day they should have said and I could have went to work and set everything up. I have a 2018 nissan leaf. Nearly every leaf from 2018 has battery issues. Because of this it has taken 4 months to get my car back. The reason being they don't have the lifts or the technicians to work on the car. It is nearly impossible to call the service department. They don't answer the phone. I walk to Jack In The Box, and Uber it. Otherwise it might be an hour or two wait. 2. High cost. $185 to diagnose a problem seems a bit steep for a non-luxury brand. No thanks. I'll just use my independent mechanic. 3. They don't even bother to wash their cars for sale right outside their building that they are trying to sell. They are filthy. 4. No frills waiting room. If I'm going to pay $185/hr for them to tell me what's wrong with my vehicle it would be nice if the waiting room had some amenities. read more

I tell you New City Nissan has never been perfect for the ten years of service and I've done here, everything to take great care of what has taken greater care of me and will do whatever it takes with any preventative maintenance. You may call or conveniently do it online and I've mistakenly chose the wrong service which is an express type of service (that needs no appointment). I explained that I wanted to do a tune up and sarcastically says that's a diagnostic (I KNOW!) that's what I thought I did but rushing I chose the wrong one. I explained my engine check light was on and if my car breaks down I tow it here? He says "yes" You turn away instead of offering and/or check any appointment time or offer something that I may be interested to help my situation mind you he "chuckled" several several times it infuriated me. Even when I scheduled the correct service they come and tell me they recommend something else. It's always been seriously impersonal here service advisor is pretty much clueless and can't explain much about the situation that's most likely prewritten for them anyways, this car has constantly given me problems spent more than it's worth...Nissan No Thanks!! read more

Okay, so this is going to be an unusual one I'm actually posting a fantastic review about selling a car to New City Nissan. so it was time to sell my 5 year old Mazda 3S Grand Touring and I went to Kelley Blue Book to check values. Apparently New City Nissan is an affiliate of the Kelly Bluebook purchasing program. It was super easy. I made an appointment to bring in my car and within half an hour of arriving at the dealership oh, I had met Mark, the sales person in charge of purchasing used cars, he had taken the car for a test drive and look at everything and given me a written estimate that was less than 10% of what I was expecting. I was hoping for the Kelley Blue Book value off $13,000 but I was offered $12,000 cash. No trade-in at meaning I have to buy a Nissan no negotiating just a check in hand in a couple days. I was extremely surprised at how well the process went. Usually when you go to a dealership there's some haggling and what not but everything was very pleasant and in writing. I asked if he could go a little higher rather than shop around but he actually encouraged me to go to a couple of other dealerships. I needed to have my battery checked that I purchased 3/22 a Nissan battery under warranty because car was getting hard to start. I have removed car batteries in the past when needed from different vehicles. The other dealership Tony Nissan did not have the particular battery until the next day, and I can bring the battery in to Tony Nissan for testing. I called New City Nissan, they have the battery in stock but I needed to bring the car in for diagnostics, the parts person said they would have to check the alternator, and other modules. I went this before replace the windshield washer pump, and paid additional $220 for diagnostic that was not necessary. I removed battery and Tony Nissan checked the battery (only) this morning and the battery failed. I was given a new battery that I put back in my car, had to pay a minimal charge and not the additional diagnostic charge. I appreciate and commend Tony Nissan for their honest work. read more

I was vey reluctant to purchase a Nissan again since my first (and only) Nissan blew an engine . . . twice . . . and Nissan refused to make amends. Granted, that was back in 1989 when I purchased a 240sx in Fort Lauderdale, so it holds no real relevance to the here and now. However, I have a very good memory and have been known to hold grudges at times. Fast forward 33 years and I found myself interested in leasing a relatively inexpensive electric vehicle. I checked with Porsche first because I'm a proud owner of one and am loyal to the brand. So of course I had to look. Their electric vehicle offerings were surprisingly inexpensive and affordable . . . . NOT. Next I looked at Hyundai since I have had great experiences with their vehicles, but it seems that they don't sell their electrics here . . . go figure. I thought that the new look Kia was a nice option, but when I visited the dealership, I was quickly subjected to an attempted "bait and switch". Aaarrgggg! That eliminated them IMMEDIATELY!!! Finally, after a bit of searching around and reading reviews, I came upon the Leaf. Although it is a Nissan, I figured I'd give it a shot. Sent New City Nissan a message online. Almost immediately, I received a response via phone and connected with Shane as my sales person. Honestly, he is the single best sales representative that I've had help me since Ashe at Porsche. He was patient and answered all of my questions in a timely manner, without once referring me to his manager. I ended up putting a deposit on a vehicle that was due to arrive in the middle November. I'm not the most patient person and was anxious to get the process completed with very minimal time spent at the dealership. I've been in Hawaii for 17 years and know full well that my sense of "urgency" and "efficiency" is not shared by everyone here. However, after reaching out to Shane, I picked up the car on Nov. 29 and spent a grand total of 1 hour at the dealership. That was absolutely FANTASTIC!!! As for the car itself, I LOVE IT!!! Took my car in at 9am to be seen for an issue with my window. They sent me home at 2pm I called to see the progress and they had not touched my car. I called again at 3pm and they had an update. Upon returning to the lot I found my car the the parking lot missing a window unsecured. Arthur Peter's was the tech who took my car apart, damaged a part inside my window and was unable to put it back. They told me it would be +$1400 to fix I told them I was unable to do that today and the tech told me "fix it your self then". I had to drive home with a damaged window then come home and fix it my self. I would never reccomend this location to anyone read more
