(It's an old piercing from 12 years ago before I knew about real piercers, like new flower) She showed me some options that'll make it look less sideways and they were all super cute. So fantastic! This was my first time getting pierced, and I got my nostril pierced. The entire visit cost about $75, which from what I hear is pretty reasonable? There was a huge selection of jewelry, and the receptionist (and a piercer in training) Selene helped my friend and I pick out exactly what we wanted. We were then walked through the paperwork (make sure you bring your ID!) and shown a super thorough and helpful safety video. John then showed us our sterilized kits, and walked us through the entire process, including deep breathing exercises! He was super friendly, polite and professional! I've gone here three times and would never choose anywhere else. The staff are so friendly and personable. Additionally, very knowledgeable about jewelry and safe practices. I most recently went in for a piercing upgrade because one of my cartilage studs fell out (after 4 years!) I had no idea what I wanted to do other than something different. The staff took time to understand what I liked and showed me several options and even used a paper ear to demonstrate what they'd look like on my ear. Once I finally picked out some jewelry that worked in my price range (they give you a quote before doing anything), they sanitized and placed for me. Having fully healed piercings, it was nice that they still took the time to place the new jewelry for me. I came to pierce my rook on Christmas Eve and have given my piercing some time before leaving a review. I was pleasantly surprised with my experience and plan on returning for another piercing! The girl in front was very helpful in answering all my questions and even helped choose which piece I wanted. The piercing process was also quite enjoyable, with the pierced cracking jokes and making conversation. It didn't hurt at all and I appreciated how gentle he was when putting the jewelry in. I really hope people don't think it costs this much to get a good piercing. I have NEVER had to pay as much as this place charges for any piercing I've gotten, and I have 11. I don't know if they think they're doing some new innovative techniques or using rare metals for their jewelry, but $95 for a nose piercing, and $30+ just to get it new jewelry put in that I have to buy anyways is absolutely ridiculous. I've been thinking about getting pierced for awhile and finally decided to go for it. I came in today, after 12 and Monica and the receptionist greeted me as soon as I came in. I let them know what type of piercing I was wanting and they showed my all my jewelry options. After o decided what I wanted Monica took me in the back to check my anatomy so she could size the jewelry. After she sanitized my jewelry I filled out her paperwork with the receptionist, and waited. While I was waiting for the jewelry to be autoclaved, someone else came in inquiring about changing their present body jewelry, and Monica took the time to talk to her, explain her options, etc.. When it was time, I went to the back room and she marked where the piercings would be, and then got everything ready. While she was getting everything ready she talked to me about my breathing, and told me to take breaths thru my nose and out thru my mouth and it helped. Before I knew it both piercings were done. Afterwards she talked to me about after care and made sure to answer all my questions. Everything from the display cases to the piercing room was super clean, and they had gloves and notes everywhere not to touch the jewelry. Before I left I was given a card with all my piercing information on it, including two follow up optional appointments. I'm home and super happy with my piercings. read more

This place is pricey, but I wanted to get my piercings done correctly so came here. They offer great service, are professional, and are very sanitary. My piercer cleaned my ears with iodine (antibacterial) and marked the places I wanted to get pierced, making sure with me. The process wasn't painful and it was over very quick. I came back a few months later to do a check up. They looked at my ears, gave me some tips, and I went home. Though pricey, you can reuse the jewelry you buy here so that can reduce costs of future piercings. Also, though I only got my ears pierced, their professionalism makes me sure that for any other body piercing they would be spectacular. I made an appointment and was pleasantly greeted by Vanessa, who did my outer helix and daith piercing. She asked me a few questions regarding my experience and feelings towards my expectations and interests. She was able to show me several options with jewelry for the specific piercings that I asked for. I was glad to see that I was not limited to a small selection. I specifically asked for gold jewelry since it was what I mostly wear and there was a good amount of gold jewelry to choose from. I was definitely happy with what I picked. It was also possible to customized jewelry. Once I picked the jewelry, Vanessa went to sterilize it while I was watching an after piercing care video and filling out paperwork. She escorted me to the room I would be in and it was very clean. I had an accident involving my VCH, it was pulled all the way through in one piece. This happened late Friday night and I was very anxious to get it looked at. The place I originally had my piercing done at did not open till 1pm on Saturday. So I turned to Yelp and came across this shop. I had my piercing done by Elayne Angel, so before calling I double checked her website and was pleased to see this place on her list of recommendations. When I showed up there were 2 people ahead of me and 3 arrived while I was waiting. There was only 1 employee (I believe it was Vanessa). I thought she handled herself well and I appreciated the time she took with each person and didn't seemed rush to move through the line. It was reassuring at a time that can be high anxiety for someone waiting to get a piercing. The room she took me to was very clean and she was extremely professional. Some of the best pierces in town... I've been wanting a septum piercing for years now. With a little more research, I found this place right next to CSULB and decided to go here not only for convenience, but because of their awesome reviews. I walked in and Vanessa was EXTREMELY helpful and knowledgeable about the particular piercing I wanted, and she basically went over the whole process with me. I felt very comfortable and scheduled an appointment for the next day. When I come in for my piercing, Brett (who is in town for a visit and a friend of the owner) offers to do my piercing. He made me feel very welcome and comfortable during the process and had me practice some breathing techniques to calm me down. By the time I know it, my nose is already pierced and it looks amazing! It was painless (just a pinch) and Brett made sure I was in love with it before sending me on my way. Did a ton of research before getting my nostril pierced and ended up following the reviews to New Flower, and I'm so happy I did. John was my piercer. His presence upon entering the studio is very relaxed, he talks you through everything, and makes you feel totally at ease. Everything is extremely clean and sterile, and you can tell that the team here is highly professional and wants you to have the best experience possible (both during the piercing and the healing process). By the way, a nostril piercing doesn't hurt at all; either that or John has the magic touch. Go John! On day 2 I noticed that my stud was a little snug, so I went back to the studio to have it evaluated. Vanessa looked at it this time and suggested I have the screw readjusted just to ensure proper healing. (This probably won't happen to you so I wouldn't let this scare you. But hey, sometimes stuff happens, so make sure you ask questions because these guys will help you out.) Again, talking me through everything, extremely calmly, she cleaned my piercing, then removed it, put in a placeholder, adjusted the jewelry, and reinserted. She changed her gloves 2-3 times, once for each new activity. Very thorough, which I appreciated. I've been to Zebra in Berkeley, which I liked, but now after coming here I'll never go anywhere else. The atmosphere is very relaxed and you'll be taken care of by professionals who know what they're doing and who are also down to earth and just plain nice. I came here several years ago for a re-piercing (done by a different studio n had to be fixed) and the experience was wonderful then. I have several piercings and this studio is far beyond any other place I've ever been to. I do ALL my piercings here now- even the ones they won't do! I came in for a belly button piercing and they were very knowledgeable and helpful- so much so that they were willing to NOT pierce me because of anatomy. They sat down and explained everything very scientifically and it all made sense. I was amazed that a place that makes its $$ by piercing would refuse to do so IN MY BEST INTEREST! I was leaving the salon next door to New Flower on my way to my car when the jewelry display in the window caught my eye. Everyone knows I'm distracted by shiny objects, and the selection here certainly sparkles. Coincidentally, I recently had a procedure that required I take off all metal jewelry, including my ear cuff (cartridge piercing) from the 90's. I feared it was closing and needed to get a piece of jewelry in there ASAP. In an awesome twist of synchronicity, I found myself here. John is the owner. He's like a moving piece of art with all the expected and required tattoos and piercings/holes you would expect to find from a professional body piercer. He gets extra points for the dreads and dope Versace eyewear. Once you get past his alternative exterior, you may notice his bright intelligent eyes and genuine friendly disposition. He greeted me kindly and was super knowledgable. It was easy to trust him right away. After browsing the rather large selection of jewelry, I decided to upgrade my thick metal cuff to a lovely delicate rose gold ring that fits my style a lot better than the titanium played out earring that I had been rocking previously. It just never occurred to me to change it. Lame, I know. Anyway I LOVE my new piece. The experience was painless too because as John explained, the hole only looked closed- but it wasn't. That having been said! I am a huge new fan of New Flower!!! John pierced my nipple (yeah, just one of 'em; asymmetrical and proud!) and he did an awesome, awesome job. He asked all the important questions but spread them out so I didn't feel interrogated or quizzed, so he knew that it was my first non-ear piercing (as well as my first piercing in a WHILE). I totally got the vibe that he was willing to go as slowly as necessary if I was having anxiety or second thoughts, but once I communicated that I was ready to "bring it on," he totally rolled with that too. I love that they have an online appointment system; I made my appointment the night before and walked in the next day completely expected! Which was nice. I always feel a little bit weird having to explain from scratch what I'm in a studio for. Let's see. The studio was super clean and I think the whole sterilization process was even more thorough than I've seen at Somatic during previous piercing sessions. I didn't feel at all weird at any point in the night, which is saying something, considering I was half-naked for like. Most of it. And for the record. Piercing my nipple hurt like a fucking goddamn bitch holy god. So don't believe anyone who tells you it won't; the first day effing sucks.
