Authentic dimsum place. I like most of the dishes. The service is fast and everyone was helpful.

After a business meeting in the area, I decided to get food from New Fortune 2. The name was intriguing and was curious why it was called New Fortune 2 v 1. New Fortune 2 located Highway 620 is a rebirth of the original New Fortune restaurant, now rebranded with a "2" to mark its fresh start. According to my server New Fortune 2 gives classic Chinese flavors a twist. Chef William Wong is the menu master. While the building is not spectacular form outside except for the two golden lions, inside you get a different perspective. When I walked in I immediately noticed three tanks of live lobsters. They currently have a lobster special underway. I am generally not a fan of seeing seafood alive and then cooked for me afterwards. Other striking areas of the restaurant is the etched glass in very interesting patterns...quite beautiful. The restaurant is quite large with a private dining area. I decided to have a lunch special - sesame chicken. It came soup, rice and a veggie egg roll. The chicken was soft and flavorful. The rice was well seasoned with every grain separated...no clumping. I really enjoyed my meal except for the hot and sour soup as it was a little too vinegary tasting. The other parts of the meal was so overwhelming good, I decided to give grace on the hot and sour soup. I got my meal to go as I had more work to do. I will definitely consider returning to try other menu items.

Austin's dim sum scene is growing which back in 2006 when I first moved to Austin, was hard to find. Then now fast forward to 2025, it's getting much better. Happy to see New Fortune moved locations from its previous one, love how plenty of parking is available. Pros: All the normal dishes are fresh and amazing. From each individual dumpling, to the soft taro cake, to the tangy and spicy dumplings, every dish was great. I was very happy to try all my favorites such as the bean curd, the beef tripe, all the dishes are a must try. Great chew on all dishes, beautifully created each dish, fast service, and attentive servers. Every dish was a 5/5, you will not be disappointed. Cons: I will say, I had the dimsum at the restaurant and left overs for dinner. I have a very strong lingering msg dry mouth. I ate the leftovers without soy sauce and I still have a strong dry mouth taste. I know it's msg and to me, it's tooooooooo much msg, to me, the flavors are soo great, they don't need msg. I probably drank 2 cups of water. The dishes are expensive, I mean to compare dim sum in Austin from Houston or Dallas, Austin is expensive. I get it, if you want it, you have to pay it and prices here are too high. I get it so I can justify it. Har Gow for $7 wow, that's a lot, normally it's $4.95 but it is what it is. Most dim sum dishes I had experienced in the past range between $4.95 to $7 but to see the pricing across the board on all dishes high priced, it's fine to eat and try once in a while. Some of the dishes came cold, most dishes I would expect to come hot but some dishes came out cold which was disappointing but dam it still tasted good. I wish 4-5 dishes I got were cold to hot. For ex: the soup dumplings came cold inside, the fried shrimp was cold, the spicy dumplings were cold. Beef tripe was cold. But it's fine to try for my first time. Let's hope the 2nd time I try will be hotter.

Located right on the cusp of northwest Austin and Cedar Park, this newest dim sum spot satisfied my latest dim sum craving! The seating inside as well as the menu size isn't as big as the new dim sum restaurant in old Chinatown Austin (Tian Tian Golden Palace Seafood & Dim Sum), but I was pleasantly surprised our party of 3 arrived around noon on a Saturday and didn't have to wait for our seats. The second we sat down, the waiters rolled over their carts and we literally had food brought to the table within the first minute haha! In general though, none of the items we ordered exceeded my expectations. Again, they satisfied my dim sum craving but I was unfortunately not impressed by the flavors. I felt like the chicken feet and soup dumplings were a bit bland and some of the food items weren't as warm as I had hoped for. That being said, the service was quick and efficient today so I'd give my overall rating a 3.5/5.

I think I've finally found a true authentic Chinese Food restaurant. For those of you who have been following me, you know I've been on a mission since 2019 to find a true authentic Chinese food eatery. I've had success with "Din Ho", and a few others traditional spots. While scrolling thru Yelp, I was attracted to the reviews of "New Fortune 2". Based on the reviews people were loving it. So we decided to give it a try. Arrived about 4:45 on a Thursday, seated immediately by "Eric", as there were only three other couples there. The set up is really nice. Tables are set rather close together so I can imagine when it's close to full occupancy it might be a bit crowded. Inside and outside the appearance is very unique. The interior is very clean, with an Asian theme. We ordered Orange Chicken, Combination Pan Fried Noodles with Beef, Chickenans Shrimp. We also had Pan Friend Pork Dumplings. I've been on a search for good Orange Chicken for years. My search is over. The Orange Chicken here is prepared perfectly. The balance of sweet and savory was perfect. We ordered it without the heat as my wife can't handle it. It was also served with a side of sticky rice. We got a fairly moderate portion of chicken, yet a small serving of rice in a little bowl. Could have used a second scoop of rice. The Pan Fried Pork Dumplings were delicious. Larger than most and packed with meat and flavor. The pork filling was tender and juicy. If I was hungrier I would have ordered more. I can't wait till I bring my friends and we sample more items on their vast menu. Apparently this is their second location. Glad to see they have expanded. Michael C. - Georgetown, Tx.

12.25.2025. My husband and I have been here a few times and our most recent visit was on Christmas Day. New Fortune was recommeded by friends who lived in Cedar Park and Austin for awhile. I was quite surprised to see a line outside the door on Christmas Day. The space inside is bright, spacious, and clean with tables ready to host groups of 4 or more. As for cart service dining it was a good experience. Overall food quality is good. Highly recommend ordering veggies from the menu as dim sum is mostly yummy carbs and some protein.

I am thankful that there's a dim sum place where you can get a cart service experience but I think this place is overhyped. The food was mid at best and sadly I have had better frozen dim sum. The soup dumplings were pretty good and I recommend going for that. Service was okay, I witness some tension between their own staff members.

Came here a month ago since there's not a lot of Dim sum here in the Austin area and per usual I'd have to say this is the Go to for Dim sum here. I went to the previous "New Fortune," and they are very similar, quite obviously, since they have the same ownership. My friend and I got here right when they opened on a Saturday morning, so there was not a long wait, and there was an abundance of food served on dim sum carts. We had to wave the service staff away since there weren't that many people compared to the amount of food being carted around. The dim sum here satisfies all of my cravings, especially all the dumplings (siu mai, har gow, soup dumplings, etc.). They also have great egg tarts, so much so that my friend ordered an additional set to take home. Whenever I get a dim sum craving this will be the place to go so we aren't driving all the way out to Houston.

We went here for lunch on Christmas Day. The place was packed! That being said, we were seated right away and offered the pork and shrimp dumplings, and were told they were the most popular choice. They were delicious. We also sampled the egg custard bao, and the dough was fluffy with a sweet and creamy custard inside. I ordered the Thai basil spicy shrimp as my entree. The dish was well balanced, and the shrimp and veggies cooked perfectly. The only negative note I have is that the salt and pepper Chilean sea bass fritters that my son ordered had bones in every piece which made them much less enjoyable to eat.

OVERVIEW: Great dim sum, excellent service, wide variety menu, and reasonably priced! We visited on a Thursday morning during their Tuesday/Thursday lunch special (20% off the entire menu, except for lobster and crab - as of 6/8/2025). Hot tea was also complimentary in the morning, which was nice. The location is a bit weird, tucked between a gas station and a boat dealer, but overall experience was great and I will revisit! QUICK FACTS: - Parking? Yes, their own lot with ample spaces. - Reservations? No, just walk in. There may be more of a wait on the weekends or during holidays. FOOD RATINGS: Overall, we enjoyed all of the dim sum we ordered minus the soup dumplings, which tasted like frozen Trader Joe's or Costco dumplings. The spicy wontons, shrimp rice rolls, har gow, and sticky rice were great! We ended our order with the sweet steamed egg custard buns and it was perfect.

THE BIG: Located in Cedar Park right across the street from Interstellar BBQ. Nice big open dining space with round tables. Plenty of parking in the lot. THE BLACK AND WHITE: The wife and I came here to try this spot since we heard from a bunch of people that this was the best spot in Austin to grab dim sum. We got here around 11am on a Sunday and it wasn't terribly packed. This is one of the spots that have carts wheeling around. Weeeee! We ordered a couple of dim sum dishes that included: shrimp har gow, shu mai, choong fun, egg tart, soup dumplings and bbq pork bun. The choong fun was decent. I typically judge a dim sum spot on their choong fun because it is very intricate to make (not too sticky or hard). Otherwise, service is solid albeit very slow when checking out. We didnt know whether to go up front or wave someone to check us out. THE FINAL BAMBOO: Overall the damage done for dim sum brunch was around $50 for six dishes including tip. One of the better dim sum spots here in Austin for sure.

Another great experience at this dim sum restaurant! Got here early evening and ordered some items from the regular menu and dim sum menu. Sooo good and consistent.

This was my first time here. Came with my Brother and Sister In Law to celebrate Father's Day. Unfortunately, my nephew was unable to join us. The ambiance is something you would expect a a family friendly establishment. Nothing fancy just a simple set up. When we arrived it was almost full to capacity. However, we did not have to wait long to get seated and to have our server take our order. We started off with the Pan Fried and Steamed Pork Dumplings. You get an order of six with each. Tried the Pan Fried first and added red chili sauce on the side. To say the sauce added a kick to the taste would be an understatement. I would have to say though both were delicious, I favored the pan fried versus the steamed. Something about the texture appealed to me more than the steamed. The Veggie rolls were spot on. Some of the best veggie rolls I have tasted. They were cooked to perfection with the right amount of crispiness and did not go soggy after sitting for a minute. The Live Double Lobster was something new to me. You can have it prepared with different styles. We chose the Typhoon shelter style. As you can see by the photo, that was a generous amount of lobster yet we managed to finish. Typhoon style originated in Hong Kong, known for its use of deep-fried garlic, chili, and black beans. It was savory and spicy, with a strong emphasis on the crispy, fried garlic. The next course was the Hunan Beef flavored with a spicy Hunan sauce that's sweet, savory, and has an umami flavor. The beef was cooked twice to enhance the flavor and tenderness of the beef strips. Though listed as a spicy item on the menu, I found it to be rather mild and not as spicy as I was expecting. It was the right amount of heat that it did not distract the palate from the savory essence as well. In closing, I would definitely visit again. The service was prompt. I really enjoyed how they placed our "checklist" of items and marked each off as each was brought to our table. I found New Fortune 2 to be reasonably priced and the portions generous enough that we had to take to go boxes. One of the best Chinese food experiences I have had here in Austin.

Even gave us a card for our anniversary + complimentary dessert.Management if you see this, please give Yen a raise Overall, 1618 is outstanding. We'll definitely be back, and I do recommend going in a large group because the menu is very extensive and there's a few dishes that would be ideal to share. This spot will definitely rise to the top for my favorite spots in Austin. Keep up the good work 1618

I've heard so many great things about this restaurant, and we finally made it there over Memorial Day weekend. It absolutely lived up to the hype. This place is truly impressive. You can tell every detail was thoughtfully designed and intentional, from the stunning interior design and décor to the incredibly creative menu. What I loved most was how the dishes stayed rooted in authentic Chinese flavors while adding creative, and sometimes surprising, twists. Everything we ordered was excellent. The Lobster Cheese Puff was a huge hit: crispy on the outside and packed with flavor inside. The Salmon Sashimi Mango Salad was incredibly fresh, bright, and crunchy. The sautéed pea shoots were so tender and fresh. And the Lamb Chop with Spicy Miso Sauce was absolutely unforgettable. One of the biggest surprises for me was the Veggie Fried Rice. As a native Chinese, I've had countless fried rice dishes over the years, but I've honestly never had one prepared quite like this before. It was so flavorful and unique. For dessert, the Chocolate Soup Dumpling was both creative and delicious, and the bunny-shaped sorbet was almost too cute to eat. Our waiter, Jake, was also incredibly attentive and helpful throughout the evening. He made our first experience there even more special. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for high-quality Chinese cuisine paired with a beautiful ambiance and elevated dining experience. Perfect for celebrations or a special night out in Austin!

He recommended the lychee martini and it was perfectly made, easily one of the best cocktails I've had in a long time. The dumplings were absolutely unbelievable and the duck genuinely changed my life. I will be coming back specifically for that dish. The lamb was also cooked to perfection and packed with flavor. Overall, this was the best dinner I've had in months. From the food to the service, everything exceeded expectations. We will definitely be back and have already decided to book my birthday dinner here.

Such an absolute bummer. My family has been coming to…read moreChinatown for over 20 years and after our traditional Christmas Eve dinner we'll never be back. Absolutely insulting service, not because they were understaffed and in the weeds but because we were a family of five and only my wife was drinking while we were sandwiched between two tables that were going hard on the bottle service. They curtly took our order, dropped the food and we were never checked on again while our table filled with plates and our drinks needed refills (We had to flag someone down for chopsticks because they were so fast leaving after dropping the food). Then when they finally dropped our check, after we sat there and watched them ignore our table numerous times and considering just going straight to the front so we could leave, we went to settle up and I was entering our tip my son noticed that they had already autograted our check. For a family of five. No mention of this and we almost doubled tipped for absolute trash service. It seemed underhanded and added more insult to injury after such a mediocre experience. We used to think your rude waiters were novel and funny when the food and ambiance were fantastic but when the food quality drops, we all agreed the food was just ok, and we're treated poorly maybe we should have been paying more attention. It was a nice run Chinatown - my family has always loved you through the years, from the amazing Dim-Sum Sundays (pre-Covid) to our annual Christmas Eve dinner, but that was it. So long and goodbye.
