Stopped in after a hike at the Hessie Trailhead and glad I did. I was intimated by the line so I almost decided against it, but the line moves rather quickly and, more importantly, it's well worth the wait. I got a lavender goat cheese croissant that had the perfect amount of floral and was filled with delicious goat cheese. Additionally, I got the classic bagel sandwich on an everything bagel which was perfect after my hike, and the creme brûlée latte which is the best of that variety that I've ever had. Plenty of outdoor seating as well as indoor tables, and masks are required inside, which I appreciate. Will definitely be making a return when in the area! read more

I ordered at the counter 2 veggie quiche @ $8.95 each and had to pick it up at the counter (so no service) but they turned the credit card machine and asked for a tip. Reluctantly, I left a four dollar tip which came to $21.90. Then on my credit card it shows $24.30 which means somebody upped the tip. So I paid $12 for a slice of veggie quiche. Not such a great deal, especially since the quiche had eggshells throughout. Very disappointed. read more

We stayed near Nederland this week and stopped into New Moon twice. My husband loved the Creme Brûlée Latte with an extra shot of espresso. I had the lovely ladies there make me a Coconut Latte that was delicious and to fall in line with the other reviews...I drooled over the Lavender Goat Cheese Apricot Croissants. Hands down best croissant I've ever had. We also tried the sausage sammie and breakfast burrito, which were good. We loved the vibey atmosphere here and the plentiful outdoor seating. My friend and I stopped by here after a hike in Ned. Great idea!!! We both enjoyed the Wild Turkey sandwich. It was delish. I loved the pesto and turkey combo. I also ordered the quiche. Omg. The quiche was legit. Highly recommend. Throw some chalula on it and it's perfection. Nederland is a cute town with a great story. It's called The Frozen Dead Guy Days. It's all true. There really is a frozen dead guy in the mountains. Yes. The public parking where I found a man with a Tesla struggling to charge his car with a Charge point is right across from it. I passed him and headed over to New Moon. I think we made the right decision to come up to Nederland a day before. We enjoyed this cafe in peace. There was barely anybody. I was able to peruse their menu board behind the counter. I zeroed in on their Bacon Wrap to share with a friend. We were taken aback at how tasty this dish was. It was the simplicity of how it was made and what was on it that was delightful to me. Mostly eggs. Tomatoes and lots of love. This got me all hungry. So I ordered one more thing: their Wild Turkey Panini. Super delicious. I'm thinking nothing this simple can be so good. I think they care about what they prepare and serve to you their customers. Hence, the noticeable above average taste. We consumed these two in their sunnier front room. People watching and just enjoying the quite spot. I noticed that they have an outside area fenced off where you can enjoy warm summer days. There are other places to eat here and all within walking distance of each other but this is an excellent place to start. You won't regret it. Next up to try. Their world famous pastries? They make everything homemade, and it's truly impressive the quality of food and treats they crank out of a relatively small kitchen. "The Wrap" (egg battered tortilla filled with cheddar, tomato, guacamole, bacon, and marinated mushrooms, topped with sour cream and house-made salsa) was a top-5 breakfast dish I've had in 5 years of CO living, and their Iced Chai Tea made a believer out of someone who's admittedly never understood the coffee/tea fixation. All in all, a truly outstanding breakfast in one of the more peaceful, scenic little towns you'll ever see. Pro Tip: Don't leave without a Peanut Butter Puddle! read more

Picture this: A beautiful sunny drive, canyon thru canyon. Halfway mark is Ned. You see the "hippie boho" looking yuppy clusters and quickly realize that they're all expensive yak hair pants and tailored leather satchels and silk scarves....and avoid those corners and whatever is happening there. Pulling onto 1st, there is a guy smiling outside of a coffee joint, playing a guitar. We think awwwwwwww, maybe this is a good scene?! We park and approach the "New Moon" or as we are about to find out (& CCR once told us), the "Bad Moon". We go in and HEY!, right off the grip, 2 vegan breakfast bread options ($4.25 for tiny slices, but at least that's something). The guy that takes our order is wearing a shirt that says "Resist Corporate Coffee' & we're like all stoked thinking this could be good.....but we found out how misleading sassy tshirts can be. The coffee was awful. My fella got a Snickers coffee and it was topped off with whipped cream and looking good! I got an iced mocha with coconut milk. Mine was all white looking and had no flavor other than sugar and coconut? I actually thought I had someone else's drink. I waved at a lady in little white glasses and asked "is this the iced mocha?". When she nodded, I asked if they had a dark cocoa or mocha that they could put in it. She said "is that not enough for you?" I said "well, I guess not.". She got a bottle of chocolate syrup and gave a little squeeze to the top of the cup, turned around and walked away. I understand what it's like to be busy, but it wasn't, and there is no excuse for treating a customer that just gave almost $20 for 2 crappy drinks and a bitty piece of bread (or any customer) like getting their drink right had no value. Sorry for bothering you! Won't do it again. That awful drink was given to the guy outside that needed something from the place to be able to use their bathroom. I gotta say, after about four different visits to New Moon, this is one of my favorite places in Nederland. The coffee space is cozy and warm with plenty of seating. The coffee is consistently good, especially their specialty coffee beverages, and they have multiple non-dairy options. The bakery case has some awesome goodies including the seven-layer bar, and the food menu has some great varied options. I'm not gluten free, but the crustless quiche is amazing. The cafe is usually pretty busy after skiing but I have never once seen the staff get impatient or flustered- props to them! read more

Cute place, very small, little seating. Gluten free menu includes wraps and sandwiches. They have a wide assortment of bagel sandwiches - no gf bagels but you can ask for bread instead. Service is counter service and it can get very crowded in there; they have both indoor and outdoor seating so we snagged a spot outdoors since the weather was nice. We ordered 2 GF breakfast wraps that contained tomatoes, guac, sour cream and salsa, and oddly cooked eggs and mushrooms were extra. The wrap itself was the best part - they egg batter it so the wrap is dense and crispy. The fillings were fresh and tasted good, but for the very high price point (we paid more than $30 for two wraps and a coffee), the fillings were terrifically measly. I don't think there was a whole egg in the entire wrap! Its a breakfast wrap for crying out loud. And there were no sides other than the salsa. Anywhere else I get a $11-12 breakfast, I end up stuffed or having to take something home. Here I was done and stealing from my hubby. Maybe toss in some hash browns on the side, or put in an egg for crying out loud. The coffee was good, although I'd definitely recommend the dark roast vs the light. The light was rather weak. Given all the positive reviews I'm wondering if we just ordered the wrong thing. I'll stop by and try something different next time. read more

This place is open the earliest of the Ned coffee shops and has the most consistent hours. They make a great sweet chai, as well as a nice spicy one, and a mix of the two. The pastries are delicious, albeit a bit pricey, but it's nice to have the option. The cafe itself had good friendly service and ok food, but my dog was apparently not welcome. Some dude in a wife beater t-shirt said he owned the building and insisted the dog not bark while she was on the patio. She was only whining a little, for less than a few minutes while I got my food. It is a shame, because Nederland is generally friendly, but If you are traveling with a dog avoid this place because why deal with any conflict when there are other dog friendly places in town. read more

After a hike at the Brainard Lake area, further north of town on the Peak to Peak highway, we stopped in Nederland for lunch before heading back to Boulder. It was a busy Saturday, so the town was pretty full of cars full of people. Plan on parking a bit from the restaurant blocks on such a day. It's been years since I ate anywhere in Nederland and the cuisine choices are much improved from that time. I found New Moon by its good reviews on Yelp. It was terrific. We were pretty hungry so our group shared several pastries and a jalapeño cheese pretzel, while waiting for our other items to be made. I had pieces of the orange cranberry scone, my favorite, the cinnamon pull aparts, with the raisin one much moister and tastier than the pecan, I thought. The pretzel was devoured by all. All of our other items were nice and fresh, made to order, though because it was swamped and they were hustling out the orders, my pannini could have ben a bit more toasted. It was a ham and swiss with a few cold spots and the cheese not fully melted. But still quite edible. There were other sandwiches and a piece of quiche and a salad, though I didn't try any, but all seemed enjoyed by the others. Definitely a good, popular spot in Nederland, family friendly, with some indoor and outdoor seating, all of which was needed on a summer Saturday. read more

After spending the day hiking around Nederland, we stopped here to grab a cup of coffee and late lunch before heading home to Denver. This is such a cute coffee and sandwich shop! With the log cabin décor in a small mountain town, I felt like I walked into a little shop that you may see on a TV show, like One Tree Hill or Gilmore Girls :) I decided to try the Nutty Irishman latte, and was super impressed that it wasn't to sweet, yet had a lot of good flavor! My hubs opted for the Almond Joy latte, featuring coconut, caramel and chocolate flavors. Yum! We also decided to split the Wild Turkey sandwich and I absolutely loved the pesto on it! This is my Favorite spot to grab breakfast in Ned. The coffee is always delicious, and they have awesome bagel sandwiches and breakfast burritos. Last time I was here I got a lavender croissant to go, and let me just tell you that I was really glad I did :-). Another great thing about this spot is their patio... It's a great place to eat breakfast and plan your hikes for the day! Also it's right on the main street and Ned And I could chill out here all day watching the happenings of the town around me. My personal suggestion if you're visiting Ned for the day is to start with breakfast here, chill out on the patio and plan your hike, get a few pastries to go, and then head up to the Fourth of July trail head and eat your pastries as a snack on the trail. read more

My best friend and I are vacationing in Colorado. And in our travels we ran across this bakery and cafe. It was mid-morning and we decided to stop for a little pick me up. The outside of the place looks like a step back in time when Hippies ruled and we made love not war. Inside the workers were friendly. And happily explained all the items are homemade by them right there on the spot. The pieces, I felt, were reasonable. And their traffic flow is outstanding as they have a cash register area to place your order and a different area to pick up your food and drink. Back outside a man has tied up his dog while he orders. And the locals, and it seemed like a local favorite, all stopped and talked to the dog and petted it. And on one side a man was playing the guitar on the patio area. Quite a warm and caring family vibe. I had the special chai drink on Saturday, October 26, with a fruit tart. My friend had a coffee and egg wrap. They were delicious. And my drink was actually hot. I love HOT drinks (not burn your face off but hot) and they delivered. The presentation of their foods was impressive. We were so grateful we stopped. And our bellies were too. read more
