Finally someone came out and asked if we needed help. The car I asked to have ready wasn't. Obviously the grabass session in the back room was more important than getting a $35k car ready for a potential customer. The car was filthy. Birdshit all over the car. Didn't bother to vacuum it either. Car was ok, but not worth $35k. Can't speak about anything else about this dealership, but if they're too busy to get a car ready for a potential customer, my guess is they're not going to provide you with the best customer care. read more

a hand shake is only as good as the person giving it, in this case salesman (elman) is a complete liar! I test drove a truck and immediately pointed out a major exhaust leak coming from the manifold and a check engine light. Elman said he'll show it to the mechanic, he came back and said it's the secondary air pump and we'll take care of it, I said its that exhausts leak involved with that, he said its all probably related. so after taking money and NOT getting a decent deal I asked Elman so you'll take care of the check engine light and the exhaust leak, he said yes and I said deal and shook his hand. Now, 2 weeks later, he emailed me saying they fix the secondary air pump, I replied with "and the exhaust leak too right" he said my boss said its too much money to fix and they can't cover the cost. I said Elman this is a pre-existing issue that we agreed would be fixed upon purchase, he said no i said we'll fix the check engine light and LOOK at the exhaust and the first hes heard about the leak was after i bought it, i said Elman you told me through your own mouth that you heard the leak as you drove it over to me to test drive, he denied all! no one in there right mind would purchase a $17,600 vehicle with a major exhaust leak. buyer beware, stay away from these people and stay away from salesman Elman. I contacted Earl about a vehicle they had in stock. We communicated via email and telephone about the car on his lot and the vehicle I had for trade. When I made it to Chicago about a week later I found the car to be exactly as he had told me. He was very upfront about both the pros and the cons of the car. There were no surprises about the car, and we worked out a deal that was very good for both parties involved. I never felt that anyone at the dealership was being deceitful with me and upon examining the car in my own shop I was very happy to find everything was in order (the good and the bad) as Earl and I had talked about. I've been looking for a particular Volvo for a couple of months. Over the past three Saturday's, I visited/drove about six/seven cars at as many different dealers across the central, west and northwest Chicago burbs. Although each had a nice vehicle, I found one online at Lux Cars Chicago that had the options I was looking for, and then some. The salespeople at the other places were nice enough, but from my first call with Val, and together with Earl at Lux, they both really elevated their presence beyond my expectations. "Easygoing, knowledgeable and willing to go the extra mile" would be a good analogy. I've read each of the Yelp reviews regarding this dealer, and about these two professional sales and service people, and must advise that my experience was incredibly excellent (completely AAA). They didn't treat me like a number, an uninformed customer nor unfairly. Instead, they heard what I needed, they addressed my concerns. I did my research before going in and knew what I wanted to pay. After a short negotiation (no endless going back to a "manager" for approval), we completed the agreement. No hassle, no pressure. As for their inventory, they carry better than average imports (and some domestics) as one can see by surveying their lot. As I waited for another wash/detail before final delivery, I sat in the showroom and observed how the rest of their team interacted with other visitors. They appeared to treat everyone (about four groups that I saw) with complete respect. Especially a young family that came in with their 11 day old son looking for a newer car. Buyer beware! This is not a good place to buy a car from. The vehicle I purchased was patched up simply to pass initial inspection. Upon my first service, numerous problems were found including safety issues from incorrect parts on the vehicle to leaking components that were clearly "sealed" but done so in a temporary manner. They claim to want to help you, but when you drop your car off to show them the problems, they end up using your vehicle to run errands for their service department. I dropped the car off to prove an issue with the drive train, which only necessitates putting the car on the lift. They ended up "test driving" the vehicle instead and putting miles on it for no apparent reason. The communications always end with we will reach out; trust me... you will be the one constantly calling them. Not once did they stick to their word and get back to me. They claim to be there for their customer, but I quickly came to find excuse after excuse for why they didn't have the time to help. Please make sure to have your vehicle inspected by a third party prior to purchasing from here. A one star review is doing this place a favor.... this dealership deserves zero stars for the position they place their customers in. This is not a trustworthy dealership. Would give them zero stars if I could. Sold me a car that was not emissions legal, when I informed them of the issue they offered to fix it. I gave them a readout from Subaru explaining what was wrong with the car, they took the readout and told me they'll fix the car, and for the next 1.5 months I heard nothing from them, had to hound them over the phone to get answers only to hear "it'll be done by the end of the week", or "it'll be a few more days" for the first two weeks I didn't even have a loaner until they told me it was going to be two weeks more and they gave me a Jeep patriot, that is not in the best mechanical condition and has since developed a check engine light. Called them Friday night to ask about the status of the repair and the salesman Alex kept dodging the call, spoke to the manager Florian who said he'd ensure Alex called me immediately regarding the car and he never followed through. Finally got him on the phone to hear him say irately that he doesn't know when they'll be done fixing the car. I told him if they aren't done by Monday, I want to return the car back and get my money back. Today I called them at 5pm, hoping it would be done, Alex called me back an hour later saying "maybe next week", so I told him I want to return the car and I'll be calling my lawyer if they do not agree. To begin, I walk into the office with people just walking around until a salesman's finally comes up to us. A application was filled out and we had agreed to test drive the car. The salesman took 30 minutes just to get the key and was standing around. When we started to move the car, it would not go in reverse. We got yelled at telling us to get out bc " he didn't know how to drive stick shift". My brother, who was test driving it has 3 years driving manual and has a car of his own that is manual. The salesman who was attending us, came up to talk to my brother while he was still in the car with his mask fully down. A salesman then went to try to put it into reverse and struggled to put it himself. He kept going forward. How are we going to be yelled at for "not knowing how to drive it" when he couldn't put it in reverse either. We were then told that we couldn't drive it either way because we were not approved for credit.... when i never gave them the social security. HOW DOES THAT MAKE SENSE. We were told we were not allowed to drive it unless we have them the social security and fill out financing papers. They kept insisting after telling them over 5 or 6 times that we just wanted to test it out. Do not recommend. The manager was being very rude to us. read more

"HIT THE JACKPOT" On January 8, 2018 I purchased a used 2002 Mazda Miata from Lux Cars Chicago. My salesman was Alex Petlakh. I took a gamble buying an out-of-state car without seeing or driving it in person. Lux Cars Chicago had good photos of the car as well as the Miata's CarFax available on their website. The CarFax info was great - one owner, no accidents/loss, 31k miles and listed many regular maintenance records. Alex was excellent. He promptly answered all my questions and took additional photos, at my request, of the car's undercarriage. It was rust free and very clean. He also sent me additional close-up of the seats and of the convertible boot. He assured me it was in excellent condition. After a bit of 'hand holding', many emails, calls, texts and haggling over the price - I bought the car. Alex was always professional, patient and responsive thru-out the car buying process. Alex overnighted the sales contract, I signed, and paid for the car. It took about 15 days to schedule and transport the Miata to my home in Northern Virginia. My car arrived on January 24th and Alex overnighted the temporary tags. Upon delivery, I examined the car and everything appeared to work properly. The next day I took it for the Virginia vehicle inspection and emissions test and it passed. I set up an appointment for 1/31 with my Mazda dealership for a thorough inspection. After the inspection, the dealers assistant service manager came to the customer service waiting room to see me. He told me that I had "hit the jackpot" with this Miata. He said the mechanic could not find ONE thing to service or repair. I left without spending a penny. I had hit the jackpot! We found an Escalade online. I completed the application and was approved verbally for the amount requested with $10,000 down payment. The dealership is several hours away and Val stated the paperwork would need to be overnighted to me instead of emailed. He would not email the terms of the loan but would mail them. However, he would not mail them without a $1000 deposit first. That evening after reading additional reviews, we decided not to pursue purchasing the vehicle based on the poor reviews. The next morning we called to let Val know we would not be purchasing the vehicle. He was very condescending, rude and it was just unnecessary. We requested the $1000 deposit back and Val said he would ask his manager. It's been 2 days and we've attempted to reach out to him several times. We finally got ahold of the manager, Adrian (finance manager). He said that we will not be getting the deposit back because all deposits at dealerships are nonrefundable and I should have known that. Val didn't tell me this, how should I have known that it cost me $1000 to review the loan details? So, I paid $1,000 and they keep telling me I should have known better. BE CAREFUL AT THIS DEALERSHIP. Please, please listen to all of the negative reviews that have been posted about them. I can't speak to all of their sales representatives, but I worked with a representative there (who will remain unnamed) and I cannot believe how deceptive he has been. I will say though, that none of the others seemed particularly kind or interested in helping me either while I was at their store, which I have never experienced with another dealer. I bought a used vehicle from them about a while back. At first, the initial look went well - the car was clean and ready to test drive just fine. It took the salesperson that I had an appointment with, 20 minutes to come talk to me, but that could be understandable. Regardless, the test drive went smoothly enough and I came back ready to negotiate and sign the papers the next day since I had to leave early that day. The next day, I came back and and was ready to buy the car at the price we had agreed on previously. However, somehow the salesperson "misremembered" the price and raised the final price, saying his boss would not go any lower. I was thrown off but decided to let it go. He pulled out his own cash from his pocket and offered to cover the difference "out of his own commission". This seemed like absolute BS and one of the most awful scams to try and pull on a customer because most buyers would feel terrible accepting that money, just like me. So I politely declined and decided to just pay the higher price. All the papers are signed and we get to the car and the salesperson hands me the keys. I test them, and one of them doesn't work. I ask him and he says he'll replace the battery... 5 minutes later, the key still doesn't work. He replaces the battery again and it still doesn't work. He said it was fine and that it would get fixed at another deal free of charge. So, I take the car and drive it home, happy with my new purchase. The next morning I go to get the key fixed at another dealer an hour away, and they said that Lux Cars was supposed to fix it, and they will charge me $150 to do it on their own. I was appalled and called the salesperson at Lux Cars somewhere around 7-8 times over the course of a week along with sending texts, and when he finally picked up, he said he'd look into it and get back to me right away. A few days go by and I hear nothing from him. I called him again many times over the course of the next week and it became clear that he was avoiding my calls. When I finally got through to him, he asked me to remind him what the problem was. Clearly, he had just avoided addressing the issue. Over the course of the days that had gone by, I had also found that my car makes a horrible sound and shakes/skids every time I take even a slightly-sharp turn. I told him about that and the key problem once again. I told him I needed all the paperwork and history on the inspection they did on the car the next day and he said he would surely have it ready. The next day passed by and so did nearly whole month and I have still gotten no reply. I am not one to ever write a review, but I hope that no one ever gets cheated by Lux Cars. I am going in to get my car re-serviced, inspected, and repaired by a different dealer in two weeks and will see how much damage there really is then. But, I could not stand by without writing a review to warn potential buyers. No car is worth this much trouble. I wish I had listened to the previous negative reviews. Please save yourself the pain and headaches. NOTE: They charge you an additional $400 and label it an "interior warranty" and say that it comes with the car, which is is not true because they don't tell you that they're tacking on that charge to your total. One year after purchasing my car from Lux I have had over $5,000 in repairs for a vehicle that they said was in perfect shape. Every month something else breaks on this car that I paid $20,000 for. When it was delivered the top did not go down on the Porsche convertible and they took it in to fix it, but that broke in about one month. The oil light went on, the electrical did not work, the front bearings had to be replaced. The list goes on. DO NOT buy from this place. I wrote my original review of Lux Cars on 9/4/19 - but it's slipped down the list, so I'm reposting it AND updating it. In my original review (see below) I noted that sales rep Val Kats added on a $250 "interior maintenance" package without asking me about it or even discussing it with me. And a month after I bought it, my local mechanic found that one of the rims was bent and that one of the tires was significantly older than the others - things that any moderately competent or reputable car dealer would have found and fixed before selling a used car. Now there's this: Last week, I sold the Audi A4 that I bought from Lux in March 2018. I took a bath. Why? When I bought the Audi from Lux in March 2018, it had a "clean" Carfax report. That was one of my main criteria when shopping for a car. I would not have bought the car from Lux if the Carfax showed an accident or damage. When I went to sell the car last week, I pulled a Carfax report for the buyer - and found that there was damage to the car in 2015 that didn't get added to the Carfax report until July 2018 - four months after I bought it from Lux. So to be clear: I bought the car from Lux in March 2018 with a "clean" Carfax. Four months later, damage that happened in 2015 finally got added to the Carfax report. So when I sold the car, it was with a Carfax report that showed "damage," which significantly reduced the value of my car. Was Lux responsible for withholding the damage report until after they sold the car to me? I can't prove it - but IT'S FISHY AS HELL! So I repeat what I said in my original review: BUYER BEWARE! Here's the rest of my original review: "I bought a 2014 Audi A4 from Val Kats at LuxCars a year ago. All their cars look nice online, but beware of two things: 1) Val added on a $250 "interior maintenance" package without discussing it with me or asking me if I wanted it. My bad for not looking over the paperwork more carefully before signing. I discovered it later, when I got home. Very disappointed with service and promises by the salemans. Bought a used car that only had one key and missing sunshade clips. We were told we can come back in 2 days for the parts. Then we get a call that we actually have to go to the car dealer that is over an hour away to get the second set of keys. And since we'll be at the dealership, we should have gotten our sunshade clips too but the salesman from Lux said it's too expensive and is forcing us to go back to them for it. Horrible vehicle and rude salespeople. Current positive feedback for dealer are unbelievable. Stay away. Red flags abound when my wife, toddler, and I walked in the dealership. One salesperson was dressed in a jump suit, another in a black crew t-shirt and jeans (Val), and a blonde haired model dressed as if she was going to a night club. Walking into the showroom, Val met us in the middle and said "What do you want?" Wow. The car we test drove, a Lexus, had a clinking noise, wind noise coming in from the from the dash/front windshield, and rattling from and unknown location. Upon returning we mentioned that we weren't comfortable with this car and he sarcastically suggested maybe we might want a Honda CRV. Among other rude remarks, we had enough and left. This dealership is a joke. I dealt with Earl, who told me the Hummer he took in was the cleanest he had ever taken in. He said that it was so wonderful and so clean. He didn't take any pictures of the rust on the cab or along he front windshield. He didn't show the cracks in the dash. I sent a driver to look over it and bring it back and he treated them rude and would not take them back to the rental car place. Had they made adjustments for the work I would have to do to the vehicle I would have probably worked with him, but he was rude. I suggest not using this dealership. Seems like a scam. read more

The car I purchased was received in very poor condition, despite the "glowing" reviews by the salesmen and the now clearly doctored photos. I had the car shipped to Arizona and on day 2 the car was inspected with over $5,000 in repairs estimated as well as a dead battery. On day 3 with a brand new battery, now the check engine light is on and the car is not drive-able. None of this was disclosed by the dealership and I highly doubt their service department even inspected the car as it sat on their lot over the last 2 months. I will be taking them to arbitration to resolve these issues. read more

HARDWORKING BUYERS BEWARE!!!! I want to warn anyone seeking to purchase a new/used vehicle to run from this disgusting dealership. I recently purchased a 2011 BMW with 65 miles from them and I knew I had made a grave mistake after my bank paid for the car. They wanted to drag their feet about shipping my car to me, so I had to get it done... fast forward 60 days and picture this I hadn't even learned all the features of my car when the engine malfunctioned and needed to be replaced. A warranty came with the car thank God that covers this repair. I live in another state and had it towed to a local repair shop that specializes in foreign cars the dealership hemmed and hawed over the diagnosis to the price of a used engine with the same or less amount of miles. Ultimately, they refused to have it repaired here after a month of stonewalling and opted to ship the car back to Chicago for repairs, but then Lux cars didn't want to pay the bill for tear down and reassembling the broken engine for shipment that they decided was too expensive (HELLO IT'S A BMW). In order to move forward my husband compromised against my judgement mind you to pay $1500 of the costs just to get the ball rolling on the repairs even though the warranty only obligated us to the first $100. It has been right at two months and we find out that my car STILL hasn't made it back to Lux cars for the repairs. I don't even want it anymore how do I trust that they will even fix it properly after all of this. Everytime a car payment comes out I get nauseous!!! I'm sure many dealerships bank on the fact that the car they just sold would make it past the 90 day warranty, but sometimes such as in my case you have to honor your contracts. I just can't believe in this country that some crooked crap like this can happen forcing more money out of our pockets for attorneys which is half the battle. We need to become more vocal to our legislators to push new laws that protect a consumer from people who choose to run a business this way. Why we are still speaking through the SALESMAN is beyond me at this point they don't return phone calls or emails to anyone. My husband is currently overseas and is helpless to help with this NIGHTMARE. If I can save one hardworking person from being hurt this way this post was worth it. I literally bought the parts (fuel injectors) that needed replacing , I got the car properly tuned due to it being modified, BUT apparently the fuel injectors wasn't the problem . I had already invested over 2,000 in the car in the first 4 months of owning the car . The shop that I took it too to get it tuned told me the 02 sensor was going out , the rust on the undercarriage, the timing belt needed replacing. Moral of the story don't buy from here . I ended up getting rid of the car and went with an ACTUAL dealership. S/N when I took it In for maintenance, another guy was there and told me his Audi s4 he bought from the was already giving him problems , something trans related . DONT BUY , BUYER BE WARE . THEY HAVE NICE CARS YES BUT THOSE REPAIR BILLS YOUD MAKE AFTER BUYING THEIR CARS AND THEY DENY FIXING THOSE ARE EVEN NICER ;) read more

Purchased a car from here three weeks ago. My sales and finance people were terrific. Right when I left the lot my check engine light came on for an oxygen sensor, not a big deal... My problem with this place is the service department. I have been trying to get my car there since the light came on but I have been waiting for a loaner to be available (basically getting the run around). I figured if I brought my car in and waited on the repair I wouldn't need a loaner so I coordinated that. Two days ago they diagnosed the problem, ordered the part. Brought my car back to be repaired first thing in the morning after the parts arrived and they messed up the threads for the sensor so they gave me a loaner. This loaner is the biggest piece of junk on the lot and is nowhere near equivalent to my vehicle. I wish I was able to bring it somewhere more capable of this simple repair. read more

I am not a fan of dealerships in general but Lux Auto did a good job of quick negotiations and paperwork. I bought a mercedes there about a year ago. I purchased a 3 year warranty and forgot about it. The radiator started leaking so I took to Lux instead of my mechanic. They repaired everything for $100 under the warranty. The true cost was $1,900 of work done. I have had a good experience so far with Lux and I would probably go back to buy another car there. read more

I purchase a 2016 BMW i8 from them about two weeks ago. I've never seen a dealership that pushes you out the door so fast. Worst service you'll ever get. Sure their price was a few grand less but they will lie about the state of the car. I should have just walked out without taking their car. They didn't disclosed that they only had one key fob, the charger is missing and the manuals are missing after I signed all the documentations. He just pushed us out the door as if it's not important to him that I just spent $100k on one of his car. Worst car purchased experience in my entire life of buying cars. I'll never buy another high end vehicle from this crap shoot dealer again. You'll feel like you bought a piece of junk instead. We stopped for gas and found that the charger was missing and original manual were missing from the glove box. I called him and he said it's up to the general manager. I got home and the next day saw the tires had deep cuts. I drove for 6 hours on an unsafe vehicle. Luckly, I made it home without the tire blowing up on me. They put my life at risk. Any mechanic would have seen it if they inspect the car. I'm going to have to purchase two new tires. I don't even want to talk to this dealership about the tires because you can't believe anything they say. They'll just play it as they don't know it was like that way. I would be terrified if it was car that does not have full warranty. I'm glad that BMW has a 4 year maintenance plan that covers everything. The guy I worked with said that he will send the charger on Monday and the rest as soon as he got them. Called him on Monday and he said he will send them out when all of them are in. Two weeks later an nothing. Find a real exotic car dealership that truly is worth your money. One that isn't trying to hide anything from you during signing. You'll regret it. Beware. read more

Unlike the other reviews, I had a very pleasant experience with Lux Cars! I had been looking for a red 2011 BMW 3-series convertible with oyster/black interior for about 3 months and found it on their website. I live in Texas and communicated back and forth with Val for over a week. He was wonderful! I asked him a slew of questions about the condition of the car and he always gave me very detailed responses. He sent me multiple pictures and videos of the car and was upfront about any imperfections. I flew into Chicago to view the car before purchase and it was everything Val represented it to be! The entire staff was very accommodating and helpful, which made the entire process seamless! I also really appreciated Earl going out to his way to make sure Val was taking care of all of my needs and inquiring if there was anything they could do to make my experience better.
