Overall a good place to get dim sum in the area. The price is about right for the area. Portions can be generous for some dishes. One of the dumplings were huge! We came on a weekday to try and avoid the weekend wait times. There was no wait on a Monday at lunch and we were seated immediately. Ordering is easy, you mark what you want off a checklist. No carts here. The biggest con was that our server was literally standing at our table staring at us the whole time we were trying to figure out what to order. And a few more times through out our meal while we were eating. It made us feel really rushed and it was pretty awkward. The dim sum isnt the best I've ever had but decent for the area and price. Maybe we'll come back on a weekend when they're a little more busy to avoid the awkward stare down moments.

I'm honestly not sure why New Port is rated less than 4 stars, but the food is fantastic. Coming from Boston where Dim Sum shops are abundant, I would actually rank New Port up there. The prices are slightly on the higher end, but I like that their bean curd pork rolls (腐皮卷) had veggies in them. Authentic? Not sure, but delicious? Absolutely. My go to dishes here would be the pan fried chive dumpling, the bean curd pork rolls, and the fried shrimp balls (but nothing I had here so far was a miss... except the spareribs, but that's because I wasn't expecting kabocha in the dish). All in all, a great place to go to (and there's always a line on the weekends so head early!)

I remember coming to this place back in 1998 - it has been around for a long time! They have upgraded their interior decor to be more upscale. The servers are nice and polite - be careful when they serve you, some stuff could drop on your clothes. I had my Chinese co workers with me, so they did the ordering for celebrating the Lunar New Year - year of the horse. The food is good - but not stellar. Good to enjoy this place in a big group, so you can try various things. Besides dim sum, they also have a menu for à la carte items.

The tables and chairs have had a nice refresh since our last visit. When my daughter comes to visit, I generally bring her here as I did in the past when she was younger. There is a charge now for the green tea, but we get Jasmine. I don't recall our exact order, but I will post the pictures. Barbecue pork buns, of course. Some delicious shrimp dumplings. Oddly, we did not get the crab claws on this visit. Next time! PS: For those who participate in the AA dining or other frequent flier dining program, you will receive some points based on your bill.

According to my mom, I've been here before. I'm 99% sure it was my first visit. Came here the Sunday before New Years and it was packed, lively and we had a very minimal wait since we arrived before 11AM. Parking: Small parking lot attached, we had 2 cars and found parking right away. Location: Nicely located around surrounding plazas across the streets for shopping, groceries etc. Inside was clean, well lit and nicely decorated. Service: Fast, attentive and honest Food: Made to order and fresh. You can order via marking the order sheet, but they also have staff walking out specialty items. I really liked their steamed pork ribs with ho-fun. They never brought out the chicken feet we ordered - it was busy and they probably ran out so it never made it to our tab. LASTLY on food, they had a unique "Pineapple bun / eggtart-like mochi ball with sesame-filling" that I've never seen before so I HAD to order it. It's like someone's parent found out their kid liked pineapple bun, egg tarts, mochi, and sesame and decided to make a Picasso pastry, haha. A lady staff went over our marked order paper and told me that dish would take at least 30 minutes to prepare and had me confirm that I would not cancel my order due to long wait times. We just sat down and had plenty time, so it was perfect for us. Would come again and try their seafood next time as the Staff mentioned it was their house specialty.

New Port restaurant serves Dim Sum and Cantonese cuisine. It's located on Wolfe Rd near the corner of Homestead in Sunnyvale. We went for a dim sum lunch during the week so the restaurant was not busy. You order off a menu check list . The staff was sparse and it took a long time for the dim sum dishes to come out. The ambiance was quiet and fine for our party since we met some elderly relatives. The dim sum was adequate and not amazing. Plenty of parking in the lot since it was slow.

No wait on a weekday at noon on Thanksgiving week. Order from a paper menu. Everything except the green onion pancake was good. Black sesame mochi pastry was good. Black sesame wrapped in soft mochi and then in pastry dough. Also I like shrimp balls wrapped with sticky rice but most places don't have it. We ordered xo noodle but after an hour and finishes all our other dishes, it never came so we canceled it. They have room for large parties. Parking lot is not very big, we got lucky someone was leaving when we pulled in. Prices were ok. Just don't order off the dim sum menu. The salt and pepper tofu was $22. It was a pretty big plate and it was good.

Visited New Port for a New Year's brunch in January and enjoyed the food so much it was only fitting to come back to celebrate the Lunar New Year! They serve some of the plumpest shu mai I have eaten and overall everything we ordered was great. The service is always speedy here and they bring out your food extremely quick, which is very nice considering how busy they can get. The interior is quite spacious and open, with plenty of large tables to accommodate even our party of 12. Parking can be a little tricky with a small lot, and expect a waitlist during lunch hour.

We were craving some dim sum so decided to drive down to Cupertino to this restaurant . This is NOT a cart type dim sum where they push around and you can pick what you see. You order from a menu and let Yelp guide you Arrived around 130 on a Sunday afternoon, was approximately a 15-20 minute wait. If I had to choose, salty savory over sweet is my preference. We enjoyed the trip as well as bean curd dishes, along with Chinese broccoli for our vegetable dish. You can't really go to dim sum without having some siu Mai or XIAO LONG BAO (aka XLB) so we did After eating, one person had a tummy ache. Decent dim sum that is popular and tasty, but the hygiene of the place leaves me wondering.

Came here for dim sum on a weekend. It was pretty packed. Was given a small paper with a number to wait and they called the next number when a table was ready. They do not have carts and you mark what you want on the paper menu they give. We were asked what tea we wanted like 5 different times. But they only gave it once we submitted the paper as there is a section for tea as well. Got the siu mai, chicken feet, tripe, cha siu chern fun, and the crispy shrimp balls. The food is pretty standard dim sum. The meat portions and ratios are generous. Sauce for the crispy shrimp rolls tasty pretty watered down. We were also brought items we didn't order 2 times. So make sure to pay attention. Would definitely come back for dim sum.

I've been curious to try this place and when my gf was in town we had to stop by. It was 4 of us and we were seated right away. My gf ordered everything for us and gave me the menu to add whatever I wanted. Since it was my first time trying a lot of this I just went with her recommendations. Our food came out shortly and everything was delicious. My favorite was the tripe and the baked pork bun. I could have some of those buns without the filling any day. I saw the pineapple buns being brought out and will need to try them next time. I enjoyed my meal and liked that with 4 people we each could enjoy a piece of everything. Parking was a bit hectic but found a spot right away. Very family style setting. Round tables everywhere.

After Christmas Dim Sum lunch with family. The restaurant was very busy so we were pleasantly surprised to be seated so quickly. We were able to order some dim sum as well as main dishes off the menu. Instead of the usual carts coming by the food came straight from the kitchen and was hot and fresh. Everyone was very accommodating, welcoming and the food was delicious. The entire crew made sure our water and tea was full at all times, and consistently checked on us to see if we needed anything. This was an exceptional experience and we will be back with additional friends and family.

Nice and spacious and bright with simple decor Chinese restaurant. We went here for some DimSum with family. We got lucky that we found a parking right in the busy parking lot. Nice service and good foods. Very busy during weekend so plan accordingly. Felt abit rush but overall had a great time here.

New Port Restaurant Reviews in Other Languages

Ask the Community - New Port Restaurant

As of this writing (12/30/24) do they serve dim sum on carts? If so, is it for lunch or dinner or both? Thx

You get a menu with the dim sum offerings and you write on it what you want. Everything is made fresh and it's mainly for lunch.

Do they still offer outdoor seating today? Nov 30, 2023

Last time we were there, there was no outside seating.

So no more cart service?

There's rarely any carts going around. You order the specific items you want and they bring them out to you.

Do they have parking lot?

Yes! But it can get busy!!

Do they have vegan options?

I don't think so - even vegetable dishes might have fish sauce for flavoring

Does the outdoor seating have outdoor heaters?

They no longer have outdoor seatings anymore

Is this restaurant doing indoor and outdoor dining?

As of April 16, 2021, they are doing both indoor and outdoor dining.

Do you services outside?

Yes

Are they open during shelter in place?

No, we will open after the shelter in place

Is dimsum available at night?

No, unfortunately dim sum is only available during lunchtime.

Do they open on July 4th?

They open everyday. Holidays are super crowded.

Is there usually a long wait for lunch on the weekends?

My daughter and I usually go there on Sundays between 11AM and 12:30PM and we usually get sat right away. As we're leaving there's usually a long wait. Hope that helps.

Do they do dim sum only on weekends ? Or is it every day during lunch hours?

They serve dim sum during lunch every day as far as I am aware.

Are they open for Dim Sum on Christmas Day?

Yes

What's the dessert that you gave at the end of the meal that was like a white soup that has like red bean & tapioca?

It is likely a variation of this classification of desserts: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tong_sui

Do they serve dim sum during dinner time?

You *may* be able to order a few items at dinner but in general dim sum is available only at lunch.

In general, their dim sum was better than dinner, but tonight's dishes are worth mentioning. The good: 1. steamed lobster with rice vermicelli: good flavor and fresh lobster. All lobster pieces were cut open, making it easy to eat. 2. beef steak with broccoli: the beef was so soft! The 0.5cm thickness makes it perfect size to bite down. 3. BBQ plate: loads of goodies, with my favorite cha siu, jelly fish, and pork belly cubes. 4. Soup with morel and chicken. Loads of morels! Could use a bit more salt but it's not that big a deal. The ones that could be improved: 1. small silver fish fried with egg yolk coating: a bit chewy, but good flavor. 2. sea cucumber stuffed with shrimp paste: indeed a hard to make dish at home, so we were all excited. But the sea cucumber was not well flavored; instead, it tasted quite fishy and earthy. Too bad this expensive dish was only half consumed. The bean sprouts at the bottom were a lot more desirable. 3. salt pepper chicken: it was seasoned with salt and pepper powder, but not cooked with salt at the pan, so the chicken lacks the heat and dryness from salt. At the night, a wedding reception was in place, but we were able to seat at the next room and enjoyed our noisy and loud cheers.

We sat in a private room and someone was attentive and got us our orders at a rapid speed. We did have someone in our party who spoke fluent Cantonese which helped a lot. My last two times here was for dim sum takeout orders, and I honestly do not recommend ordering takeout. Both times were mediocre. The most recent time, we ordered 5 standard dim sum items on our phone while we were outside the restaurant. We ended up waiting at least 40 minutes for our food to be ready. When we asked for an update around the 30 minute mark, the lady at the counter was so unhelpful. Just said it's not ready without actually checking and then she turned away and ignored me. When we finally got our food, we ate it within 10 minutes, and the food was already lukewarm/almost cold. It was not worth the wait. Note ordering online has a $1 convenience fee. You wait for your takeout bag to be available on the long table inside, and then you take it to the nearby counter and pay there. Utensils and napkins are not automatically included in your bag. If we decide to come back, it would only be for dine in service. Never again for take out.

We had our usual Char Siew bun (steamed), Soy sauce Chow Mein, Chinese donut rolled in soft noodles, pan fried chive dumplings, Lo Mai Kai (steamed rice in lotus leaves), stuffed peppers, and sesame balls. This is one of the few dim sum restaurants that serve the stuffed peppers. Food was generally good. I love the hot sauce they have at the table. We literally devoured it! I had forgotten how delicious the stuffed peppers were - they still taste great! Steamed Char Siew bun was a little disappointing - too much bun (bao) and not enough filling. The char siew was also rather tough and tasted rather bland. The chinese donut in steam noodles was good and the chow Mein was tasty. Sesame balls (my favorite dim sum dessert) was not too bad. could have been better if it was warmer. Service was OK. The decor and ambiance is nice - very spacious and elegant. You can join the waitlist from Yelp - always a plus. Highlights: the har gow were plump with large pieces of shrimp and minimal filler. The dumpling skin was on the thicker side (I don't mind it but my wife likes thinner skins.) Maybe that was needed because of how big these were - really packed with shrimp. The mango pudding was delicious and reminded us of childhood, and the shrimp noodle roll was great. Lowlight: I was less happy with the xiaolongbao - there are so many good options for these in the South Bay that this meager interpretation was frankly bordering on blasphemy. I would not order those again. The steamed char siu bao were far better but still could've used more pork in the filling and were slightly soggy and over steamed. We also had the beef chow fun which was excellent with smoky wok hei flavor. Overall a good place for dim sum but avoid the xiaolongbao.
