The meats felt like they were missing proper seasoning and didn't taste fresh. The biggest disappointment was the roast pork. I've never actually been here..but my dad always buys duck from here and it's so juicy, fatty, and meaty!!! I love duck!!! I've literally ate 4 ducks in the past week. I found this place on Yelp as my boyfriend and I were craving Pecking Duck. Parking was super limited and the plaza was packed for a Saturday (early morning). There were so many people jumping the line and I didn't get a chance to order. I waited about 15-20 minutes before leaving because the staff didn't pay attention to those who were actually in line. There were others behind me who were also upset that didn't get to order as they were all waiting in line. Customer service: Zero stars - I didn't like that no one greeted us and they ignored us when we told them about the line. While others who walked in got priority for some reason. I also observed that the place itself wasn't as clean and no one was wearing gloves. I won't be returning. I decided to stop by this place since it was fairly new and I was craving some crispy pork belly. It's a nice little spot for crispy pork belly and braised cuttlefish, and it's conveniently located near our house. The shop is in a busy area next to an Asian market, so parking can be a bit of a hassle, but it's not too bad. I love coming here for the braised cuttlefish. You can ask them to cut it into strips so you can take it home and stir-fry it. We usually do a fish sauce style dish and it's amazing~ The crispy pork belly is also tasty, not too overpowering with five spice like some other places. Sometimes the skin isn't as crunchy as I'd like, but it's still very good overall. The staff here are always super friendly and sweet. I always called ahead and today when I called in. The lady at the front was kind enough to save me the last piece of braised cuttlefish! The butcher is also very nice. Everyone I've interacted with so far has been helpful and welcoming. This is my family's go to place for any type of chinese bbq. Their heo quay (roast pork) is super juicy and the skin perfectly crispy compared to other places in sj where when you pick up later in the day the meat is all dried out and skin kinda leathery. I like their char sui pork bcus its a perfect balance of fat to meat and it isnt overly chewy. My parents like their duck and compared to other places the duck has more meat. Customer service is decent, they greet you, take your order and you pay. My issue is they didnt have hargow at an hour after opening.. I wanted dimsum for work that day I went in, so I had to settle for an order of shui mai and I got a rice plate with 2 meats. All in all, good quality meats, delicious food. read more

I drive a compact car but I would not risk the true stereotypes going in and out of this parking lot. Accepts cards. The ladies behind the counter were swift and friendly. The lady that started grabbing our food speaks Vietnamese and Chinese. The lady that rung me up only spoke Chinese. They offer basic delectable dim sum, even chicken feet! I was sad to learn they do not offer rice roll (banh cuon) though. There are frozen buns to purchase in the cooler. They also sell BBQ meats and rice plates. I have not been able to find a place that offers tripe. I did not try the fried rice. The har gow has a slightly thick skin. Deliciously chewy and light. The shrimp was aromatic. It had a mild sesame aftertaste. The shiu mai did not have the traditional grated carrots, but it was meaty, juicy, and so comforting. The shrimp fried tofu was a bit greasy, but it's fried so what should I expect!? Order it fresh or take the time to reheat it in your air fryer for 3-5 minutes for the crispiness. We will be back. I used to order from Uncle Quan's, when they were on DoorDash. After they dropped off DoorDash, I just never seemed to go to the actual store. I finally went to find it, and I'm so glad I did. I always ordered the BBQ Pork. It was just as delicious as I remembered. Now, I quite often order 3 lbs of BBQ Pork because my whole family love it. The owners are super friendly, and recognize me when I walk in. The many times I've been in there, I recognize several customers who have been there the same time on previous visits. It leads me to believe they have many repeat customers. It doesn't surprise me, as BBQ Pork and Roast Pork tend to be big items. If you find yourself on Senter Rd, stop in and get some BBQ pork. You won't regret it. They also have whole chickens, cut up chicken, and for those who like it, they have pig heads. They also have hot lunch items like noodles, soup, and many more yummy items. Check out Uncle Quan's for some very tasty food. They don't have tables, they're basically a walk in, buy your food, and walk out. I HIGHLY recommend char sui. Five stars for the char sui, also known as BBQ pork, which had the right amount of meat to fat ratio, good flavor, tender, and cooked carmelization /slight burnt texture, which I like. (The board had an extensive list of meats, and the window display showed peking duck, chicken, roasted pork etc.) About eight people in front of me in line so we had to wait quite a bit. (It was my mistake for coming on a Sunday around 12:45pm. I found decent parking in the lot but lots of cars were double parked or parked in a red lane). Variety of dim sum--what is on display in the hot stations is what is left. That included chow mein, fried rice, beef stew, some other kind of stew with meat, taro, and fried shrimp balls. In the back is a container with soup as well as a large cabinet of har gow and sui mui. I agree with the yelper who said, "The har gow has a slightly thick skin. Deliciously chewy and light. The shrimp was aromatic. It had a mild sesame aftertaste. The shiu mai did not have the traditional grated carrots, but it was meaty, juicy, and so comforting." The har gow was $5 for 3 and sui mui (pork or chicken) was $4.50 for 3. They were really good size dim sum for reasonable prices. The beef stew (which showed up on my receipt as special beef sirloin) had a five spice flavor and a little spice. My recommendation is for people to get a number when they are waiting in line. One guy came in after me, but because he knew one of the ladies working and they spoke in Vietnamese (she spoke both Chinese and Vietnamese), he "cut" and was served before me. He took the other fried taro "football" that was suppose to be mine!! The guy who served me spoke Cantonese and was very nice. He was friendly, prompt, and commented on me being a good daughter to buy lunch for my parents. This is a "takeout" only place as no seating is available. This was my second time getting takeout from Uncle Quan. And once again, both service and prices were excellent. I stopped by after lunch, so it was not busy. It was well lit and clean. The woman at the counter kindly explained the pre-boxed chicken giblets and other items on the warming trays. I found their char sui is the best in the area. The daikon cake was packed with daikon and some pork sausage, unlike some places used a lot of fillers. It was a tad salty for my taste but still very good to go with tea. TL;DR good price, constant supply of fresh meat, tasty and well-cooked meat My friend and I were really hungry after a day in Monterey and heard of this Chinese deli opening up in San Jose and decided to check it out on our way back to home. As it was their opening day, it was a bit hectic. That was due to the large numbers of people that showed up during lunch time to buy food. The people in the plaza had been anticipating their opening for weeks. Besides that, Uncle Quan's is awesome. First off, the prices here are great. $6 for a large-sized pork and pi dan congee. $9.99 for a deli meat rice plate is great. The portion sizes are huge! $11.99 for a TWO deli meat option rice plate? Not to mention, 10% off all orders during their opening weekend? Literal highway robbery. Second, all the meat in the window looked well cooked and fresh. I watched them bring in racks and racks of roast duck. The bbq pork jowl meat was so tender that the butcher had to be a bit cautious about pulling the blocks of meat on and off the metal hook. As a side note, the butcher has great chopping skills! Every piece of meat was chopped all the way, something that's simple but can be missed in many other Chinese delis. Third, all of the food was so flavorful and tasted so good! Even the rice was cooked to perfection (btw they serve jasmine rice). Most other delis serve neon red char siu that is often a bit dry. The char siu here glowed without looking unnatural. Each slice of meat was tender and juicy. This applied to the duck as well. The congee's flavor was perfectly delicate and ~umami~. As a plus, every piece of pork and preserved egg was cut into even, bite-sized pieces, so I never had an unbalanced bite. I hope to come back here soon and try all the other menu items! My friend got the nuomifan and said it was really good, so that's definitely next on the list. read more
