Wifey was craving for Thai food and chose New Thai Bistro based on Yelp reviews. Arrived here right before they opened at 11 am and were the first patrons. Firstly, internet connection isn't good inside or slow. Just FYI. So we thought we were gonna go for their lunch specials but the choices weren't to our liking. Mostly curry dishes. We went à la carte and got finger rolls, pad Thai beef and citrus chicken fried rice. Finger rolls had pork and shrimp. It was good but nothing too out of the ordinary in taste. 3 stars Pad Thai beef- we both liked it. Not a lot of garnish or peanuts or green onions on the side. Still tasty and not greasy: 5 stars Citrus chicken over fried rice. Kinda reminded me of chicken katsu. Didn't get the citrus taste but I still enjoyed it and would get it again: had a Mayo dipping sauce . 5 stars Service was okay. Can't say the guy who took our order did anything special. But later, the Thai lady who seem to be cook came to our table to see if we wanted boxes to go and gave our check was nice. Indian server (3 stars). Came by a little after they opened for lunch. We were greeted and seated right away. They have some Thai decorations and they have a bar with some string lights and upside down umbrellas. They have an outdoor patio area and the shared lot makes parking a breeze. They have lunch specials and a full menu for lunch. Items ordered: Tom kha with chicken and side salad- Soup had plenty of protein but was on the sweet side and i did not like the salad dressing. Thai iced tea- A tad too sweet for my liking Roti trio appetizer- As expected Chicken pad thai- A tad too sweet and the chicken was a little dry. The food here was so tasty. Perfect for a thai craving. The service was so accommodating and amazing. They checked up on us a few times and it was nice. Chatted for a bit. Felt very local and cozy! The guava drink and thai drink was pleasantly nice. I wasn't sure how a thai tea drink would taste without the creaminess, but it was light and refreshing! Chicken satay was delicious, essentially yellow curry marinated chicken. Loved the yellow curry, my most favorite dish. Wasn't too much coconut but also not too much curry powder. Fried rice was pleasant, usually its a little strong flavor for me at other thai restaurants. So it was perfect for me. Citrus chicken was good, didn't taste much of the citrus - only as leftovers I did taste it. Not too big of a fan of their tom yum because I prefer more sour soup, but it's pretty good. We started with the Finger Rolls, and they were hands down one of the best appetizers we've had. Definitely a must-order! For our entrées, we had the Spicy Basil Fried Rice, which definitely lived up to its name--it was really spicy but packed with incredible flavor. We also ordered the Yellow Curry (medium spice), and let's just say both my fiancée and I were coughing from the heat--but that's exactly what I asked for! The spice didn't take away from the flavor at all. It was rich, comforting, and so good. I also tried the Lychee Martini, and it was fantastic! Just a heads-up, they don't serve hard liquor--only sake and wine--but they still have some great drink options. The restaurant was very clean, located in a safe area, and had a welcoming atmosphere. We drove from SJ to Baypoint and wanted to pick up a few dishes for lunch. The decor was very cute. They opened at 11am. We Doordash to pick up and the food was ready in 25 mins. The portion size was decent and good customer service. we ordered the pad thai, Penang curry, fried rice, fat noodle? and fried chili fish. I forgot to take a picture of the food. A friend and I was planing to meet up for lunch but since she had to go back to work afterwards, I decided to pick a restaurant that's closer to her office. After reviewing Yelp reviews, I settled on this place. We choose pad thai with fried chicken, lunch special combo (finger roll & Penang curry with chicken), mango sticky rice, and one Thai iced tea (for my friend). The food was just mediocre. The fried chicken was super dry as if it was previously cooked and then re-fried. The pad thai noodles was too chewy (needed to be cooked longer). Instead of a red color, Penang curry was yellowish-orange, while the chicken breast was also super dry. The sticky rice was hard and it came with a watered down coconut milk concoction ( you cannot taste a hint of coconut flavor). Meanwhile, the mango was perfectly sweet and ripe but the portions were small. The only thing we enjoyed was the finger roll. After seeing what it looked like, we now understand why it was called finger roll. It was literally the size of our finger. Our food arrived before the Thai tea so we had to remind them that we ordered a drink. For a place that only had 2 occupied tables, customer service was lacking. When we walked in, no one greeted us, even though they saw us standing in front of them when we arrived. We have been going here for years and I'd say we eat in the restaurant 50% of the time. I had a $90 takeout order from the Pleasanton location this week and 1/2 of the dinner was uneatable. If we would have dined in I would have sent the food back. The Chicken Satay is usually a favorite...this order tasted like it was made two days earlier, like warm jerky. (yuk) The Roti bread that we usually love (even got 2 orders) was limp, greasy, cold and not what we're used to. I apologized to our guests at home and will likely try another spot. For a Thai place, their mango sticky rice was terrible. The sticky rice was so hard, taste like it was 3-5 days old. Their coconut sauce was watery. And the mango that it came with was only 5 small pieces. Where's the rest of the mango. Will not order from here again. read more

Came here on a last minute reservation to celebrate a family birthday. They took our large group and we had the biggest table in the dining room. One star off because there was some miscommunication and unorganized way of taking orders. They did not assign any seat numbers so it became confusing when dishes would come out. The servers tried their best, food wasn't my favorite but it was decent. I believe many dishes were too bland for my liking and lacked flavor. I wish there was more spice level but maybe it's because we didn't order properly. My favorite dish was the red curry and crab fried rice. I also selected the side of crispy tofu with peanut sauce. There was no peanut sauce, and because although the tray had separate compartments, since the curry was so watery it souped over the tofu. We dropped in at 2ish on a Sunday afternoon. There was a constant of 2 to 3 tables of people coming in & out and 2, then 3 wait staff. Thai ice tea was cold and perfect. Roti trio had 3 sauces , peanut which was too thick, it would have been better thinned a bit, curry was good and so was the cucumber. Pad se-ew looked a bit odd, like dry but it tasted just fine. This is the first time we had the citrus chicken over rice. It's a fried chicken cutlet over fried rice with a citrus sauce on the side. All 3 components separately were good. It was just kind of weird to us but still good to try. Yellow curry had great flavor but kind of thin and needed just a tiny touch more of chicken, potatoes and carrots. The side of rice was fine. Service was fine. It was an average Thai place. It was not a super nice Thai restaurant with a cloth tablecloth. It was comfortable enough. If I was in the area, I would probably return. read more

Scrolling through the reviews, I keep seeing good reviews from many legitimate profiles, including Yelp Connoisseurs. Unfortunately, my experience was not that great! I don't know if that was a bad day for this restaurant and chef was out and someone had to pick up the shift but it's 2nd worst Thai food I have ever had in California. We have ordered Pad Thai, Drunken Noodles and Curry. I think, my pad Thai was worst out of three dishes. I just can't forget chicken taste. It didn't taste right to me at all! Was is old chicken or it wasn't a chicken I will never know but it was bad. Their pad Thai sauce was condensed on bottom of noodles like it was from pre-packaged sauce bag. I feel like they just threw sauce on top of chicken and added noodles. Also, raw onions? In pad Thai? It was not raw pad Thai dish! Meeehh. Curry was 2nd horrible dish! Also, tasted like curry paste bottle somewhere from Costco diluted with water! And finally drunken noddles were ok. I absolutely love Thai food so I was really disappointed I didn't like this place. The plus is that the portions are a little more than most Thai places but I didn't really enjoy the flavor of the food. Pad Thai: the sauce was so overpowering that you couldn't really taste the different components of the dish Panang curry: this was tasty but was on the spicy side. I usually love a little kick to my food so I didn't mind it as much but it was too spicy for hubby Dumpling: it was good- ordinary nothing special. Again, Thai food is one of my favorite cuisines so for me to take the food and just give it away spoke volumes because I would normally hoard any left over Thai! Service was subpar. Lady was not proactive in serving us but if she noticed we were trying to get napkins from the other table then she would come over and say she can get us things and it's her job. We recently checked out New Thai Bistro and were really impressed. The lunch special is an absolute steal at $14, including an appetizer, main dish, rice, and salad. The food quality at this price point is fantastic. My only (very nitpicky) gripe is that the crispy fish dish--which is on the regular lunch menu--wasn't included in the "specials." It's the only item that didn't make the cut, and I couldn't help but wish it had. I'll have to come back and try that next time. For starters, the coconut shrimp appetizer was a highlight. It didn't have that overly sweet, artificial taste that some places lean into--it was fresh and perfectly balanced. The yellow curry sauce was slightly on the thicker side, but incredibly flavorful, especially when paired with a side of pickled Thai chilis. On the flip side, the salad dressing was a bit unexpected, almost like a coconut mayo? It wasn't bad, just... unique. The service was a tad slower than we're used to, but not a dealbreaker. The ambience more than made up for it--bright murals and strong lighting made the space feel lively and fun. Overall, New Thai Bistro is definitely worth a visit, and we'll be back soon to explore more of the menu. read more

This was an amazing find. Good for a casual lunch/ dinner when you're in mood for some good food. I loved everything we ordered, no kidding. The fried veg rolls were fresh and crispy. Their Mango seven is refreshing. Lychee thai iced tea isn't as sweet as the Thai ice tea you see usually. Tastes good and like tea with a couple of lychees infused. I'm a sucker for jasmine soup generally, so I enjoyed Tom yum as well, although I'd choose a different protein than chicken next time. Maybe seafood. Loved the drunken noodles and tropical shrimp fried rice. The price was great for the experience provided. Service is decent. Definitely recommended this place for a casual dine in. read more

I absolutely love Thai food and could not be more satisfied from the quality of the items we tried.
