    Fried Udon with Beef
    Reuben L.

I haven't been here in years. I know they were new owners for a while. The lady behind the counter was polite and walked us through the menu. Atmosphere was nice, perfect outdoor shade to enjoy the view of people practicing in the golf driving range. We tried several different plates and some to takeout. I really enjoyed the Fried Udon with Chicken. Perfectly seasoned with fresh udon noodles. The Grilled Salmon Salad was also a good contender. Salmon was topped with minced garlic on a bed of fresh lettuce. The Fried Udon witth beef was also seasoned right too. We did a takeout Chicken Cake Noodle, it was mixed with fresh veggies and very tasty. Their portions are very generous too. We're thinking we'll be back for dinner to try different items.

My boyfriend and I love this place so much. The portions are big and they cook the food so so good. Everything is crispy and tasting fresh. I love how they give a generous amount. The garlic was all over the fish and they gave good sized pieces. The Mac is not too overpowering with mayo and the kamaaina mixed plate has three kinds of food on it haha it has katsu (crispy perfection), hamburger steak with egg. Basically a loco moco lol & roast pork. So good! You can find them on the side of the golfing range. Lots of parking and you can eat there if you want and watch people play golf haha

Had to meet a friend at the driving range, so I decided to try this place. I ordered a mini s&p pork chop and chicken cake noodle. The area was tidy, but the tables were not clean to the touch. It was kind of gross. After ordering, I received a hand written number on a reused piece of paper. My order took over 20 minutes, which seemed a bit long for the type of food being served. I noticed there were a lot of people picking up food, as it was dinner time. It would have been nice to be told the wait is a little long right now, but that wasn't the reason for my poor review. The pork chops (mini) is 4 pc, with one scoop of rice and mac salad. The taste was average, it was served hot. The chicken cake noodle was a disaster. It was so bad, I threw it away. There was no taste, and the noodles were soggy because a gel of flavorless mucus was soaking the noodles. The chicken didn't taste like it was even seasoned with the basic salt and pepper. The vegetables were cooked perfectly, but their taste was ruined by the gross flavorless "gravy." The food looked great, but I was only able to eat the pork chop plate. I don't like to waste food, but I also won't force myself to eat terrible food... and the chicken cake noodle was terrible.

It's a plate lunch spot in the Newtown/Royal Summit/Waimalu area. Has some Chinese food aspects of their menu. Sort of a L&L type menu items as well. Prices are on the cheaper end

Big portion and the katsu and curry are really good. I think they're great for the neighborhood, when us old people just don't want to cook.

Food is great. The garlic ahi was a bit bland but everything tastes great. They have big portions. The price is soo great for the portions. The service is pretty fast, it's cheaper to order in person than Delivery. Overall, love this place.

Take a swing at this place... Who knew this place existed...not me but thanks to Yelp New Town Cafe is a great place to find local comfort faves right at Newtown Golf Driving Range but with the Sunday's storm that was impossible for anyone to use the area but thankfully the restaurant is a covered area and was literally unfazed by the crazy rain. With that the parking lot was completely empty so it was an easy park and walk up to the building which is facing the driving range that I think is pretty cool so folks that aren't using it can still enjoy viewing with parties that are playing as well. Though I can because I saw that they have "Yaki Udon" a comfort food I grew up with and have yet to find a place that does it right for me so I had to check it out. This cute place is express style where you place your order at a window at the staff gets it all set for you and it takes literally minutes to get it freshly prepared and with the reasonable prices I decided to order their Chicken Cake Noodles...no you won't find it on the menu but apparently I saw it on the chalkboard which is probably a special but for $14.99 I just had to try it. The Yaki udon was pretty good lightly seasoned and not too salty with a scrambled egg and lots of veggies cabbage and onions it comes with chicken beef or shrimp and got the chicken which I'm glad as it was cubed up Teri chicken so that alone had great flavor and at $13.50 it was priced nice as for the chicken cake noodle which had lots of veggies as well with zucchini, broccoli, onions, water chestnuts, carrots and celery all loaded with gravy was yummy but after my drive home the noodles basically absorbed all the sauce so the noodles was mushy which the next time will ask the gravy on the side. Yes there will be a next time for this priced friendly comfort food in the heart of Pearl City. Thank you!

I don't want to hate on a small, local business and one I have supported many times when all the senile "leadership" of our country does is spread bigoted hate so instead a different opinion. Choose New Town Cafe if you want MASSIVE, weighty plates. Choose New Town Cafe if you want value. No plate is more than $15. Choose New Town Cafe if you love Chinese style plate lunches. Think of the curry with a different spice blend from Indian or Japanese, homemade katsu sauce cooked and thickened with starch, wok hei on fried udon or the chicken and veg topping for the cake noodles, and starch thickened brown gravy. Choose New Town Cafe if you want to experience a different interpretation of flavors. A fried udon that uses the BBQ chicken and it's marinade for a sweet / salty flavor. A chicken cake noodle that has large piece of zucchini and mushrooms in it that make it taste like a side for a steak. An orange chicken smothered in an eye watering vinegar forward sweet / sour sauce. There is nothing wrong with the cooking of the food. Hamburger steak, roast pork, katsu, are all local plate lunch correct. There is nothing wrong with the fast, efficient counter service. The rating is my personal opinion of the flavor and how much I need to do to it to make it enjoyable.

Cyndy's Bottom Line: Large menu of plate lunches at a good price *Parking lot available *Bench picnic tables outside with a view of the driving range *Accepts credit card *Fast & efficient We stopped in for a quick lunch. This is what we ate: +Special of the day: Teriyaki butterfish Generous portion with two fillets of flavorful butterfish with brown rice and macaroni salad. The butterfish was good but beware there are lots of bones to remove when eating. Brown rice cooked well not dry. +Kamaaina Kama'aina Mix Plate Roast pork, chicken katsu, hamburger steak, and egg. If you have a big appetite this is the plate lunches for you! Lots of protein served with rice and macaroni salad. *Ono plate lunches, generous portions, and good value. *Fast and friendly service *Recommended

Quick service and decent prices make this a great place to come for a quick lunch! Met a friend here and ordered the roast pork. Portion size was ok for a mini but it justifies the price. The roast pork was fork tender, the rice cooked well and the Mac salad was ok. Overall a good meal!

What a great combo of hitting golf balls and having some great food right after. You can't beat that. This place is located at the Newtown Driving Range. Plenty of parking and outside seat available. They have a pretty good local menu with lots of favorites. Prices are reasonable. This time around I had the salt and pepper pork chops. Got, crispy, and flavorful. The deluxe mix plate is also a good choice. Service was fast and friendly. Seating was comfy outdoors. Great place for a nice afternoon lunch.

Aloha folks! This time at New Town Cafe, I ordered the Bbq mix, it was perfect for my hunger and zero complaints. I will definitely order this plate again. The service is fast and easy. The Ambiance is great as well.. the sounds of the golf clubs hitting the balls, and enjoying the fresh air.

Ordered by phone the day prior, and just gave them my phone number as usual (it's how they identify you when you pick up, with no worries about duplicate or misspelled names.). Every time I've ordered in advance, our order has always been packed neatly and ready in a box for takeout. (My brother had brought a box just in case, and smoothly offered it to their staff for someone else's future order.) The restaurant has several tables for dining in, and markings on the floor for those waiting in line. It's brightly lit and clean as well. I appreciate their staff, food, service, and generous servings. They make us look so good with our potluck contributions! So what did we order? Half chicken katsu, half chicken wings, a small platter ($45 for the small pan, but picture a much loaded tray) - it's a great value deal! It was the same order our cousins loved when we brought it on Christmas Day (they especially love the wings, but we love the katsu-so this year we asked for half-half instead of all katsu, and they were so happy, ha ha!) Oh, and they give you a nice big container of yummy katsu sauce;)! I like their panko and cooking method, as whatever they do, the chicken is nice and crisp, and tasty - with, or without the sauce, actually. First time that I actually tried the wings, as I'm not a wing person. (I didn't even try it at Christmas, lol.). But, it was nice and crisp, lightly seasoned, and the wings had lots of meat on them. Easy finger food, and they were not dripping in oil, either, which I appreciated! Also ordered (for the first time) a small platter of chicken chow mein (a little over $30?). It was based on a good recommendation by an admittedly biased family member of the owners, and we were pleasantly surprised! The small pan was covered in wrap and then foil, because the mound of noodles was seriously kinda big! My brother was like, quick, go tell mom to come look before we open it (as she's picky, so it's hard to impress her). It was filled with lots of veggies (sliced carrots, cabbage, onions, etc) and bbq chicken pieces, tossed with great flavor (I want to say it was a nice sauce, but this wasn't a wet noodle dish.). My dad added Chinese mustard soy sauce, but my mom and I thought it was perfect the way it was. Oh, don't laugh, we're only a family of four, so yes, we ate two meals - lunch and dinner - and still packed a ton of leftovers! As we watched the game, we commented to each other what great choices we had made. (We also had sushi trays and other treats, and of course, chips, and my brother's dip. My brother said we may not have had a favorite team to cheer on today, but it was a great excuse for a party, ha ha!) I know we're doing a repeat for our next occasion, for sure! We'll gradually try some of their other foods, and it's farther away than we'd like to drive (I know, it's not that far, but we live on the other side, ok?). My brother agrees it's worth the drive - it's across Aloha Stadium and literally in the same spot as Ice Palace; and we saw quite the line at the Taco Bell drive through when we were looking for parking;). He also compared it to the cost and serving size of what we ordered on New Year's, from a restaurant much closer to where we live. Hands down, it was not even a close comparison, his emphasis added. So go here, it's perfect for family dinners and potlucks and I hope you agree with my assessment;)! Oops, I didn't take any pictures, aiya!!!

Out of the 6 sauces, and this is personal preference, only two I would actually use, but if you don't like water sauce this ain't your place. They're all super liquidy but again that's just preference so no biggie. Brisket = extremely dry - like sand, no sauce no seasoning/flavor Sausage = extremely average.
