I was in there for 20 minutes and no one greeted me the entire time until I was getting back in my car. I am an interior designer who recently relocated to the area, and aside from the poor customer service, the woman behind the counter was talking badly about various "Nightmare" & "Entitled"clients with another designer who was in there. A friend recommended I come here since she knows I like innovative & creative design pieces. I'm remodeling my kitchen and wanted to get something that my foodie/chef husband would appreciate as well. We were like kids in a candy store. They had every pull & knob imaginable and some cool, unique designs. My husband and I had some "passionate" conversations attempting to negotiate between our preferences. My husband loves Mid-Century Modern and I love Eclectic or Transitional. I loved that they had so much that we concluded on 3 and then finally picked our winner. Michelle & David were great at helping us and didn't judge us for our "couple design difference passion." I would highly recommend. Nice nice people and a wonderful store! I remodeled my home about 15 years back. My wife got the idea she wanted glass doorknobs throughout the house. After seeing what that would cost I nixed the idea but told her I would shop with her for something nicer than the basic Home Depot quality. We went to New York Hardware. I actually had a bit of an emotional response when I walked into the place. I didn't well up or anything but everything was so cool and unique I couldn't stop looking. Needless to say we have glass knobs on every door. We also purchased all of our cabinet and drawer pulls from them. We get compliments to this day on the look of our knobs and pulls. Today was the kicker! The front door knob failed and I took it to them to order another one. They took a look at it and decided they could fix it. Five minutes later and I was on my way home with the unit repaired. The amazing thing is they don't even do repairs as a rule, but they took great care of me. This place has a wonderful selection of knobs, pulls, decorative hardware but the owner is snobby and rude! There products are way overpriced too! I found the exact same pulls from the same vendor at Lowes.com for almost half the price! It is almost impossible to return anything too! When I purchased a sample knob, I was told it was "special order" and that it would take 10 business days (1-2 days just to process the order). I called them the very next day to cancel my order and they said the company already shipped it and they couldn't refund me. I would NEVER buy from them again! Stay away. read more

Great store. The selection is amazing, the staff is helpful, and the charm of the store is very cool. The rustic charm of an old hardware store meats the very best selection of cabinet hardware I have seen in one place. We not only found just the right knobs for our kitchen, but we also found great options for the bathroom we are looking to update next year. I'll be recommending people to visit the store for sure. They also carry a great selection of front door hardware and can even order barn door style hardware that everyone is looking for now days. This store is one of a kind and has the variety and selection I need for all jobs. I've been skeptic in the past from other reviews but seriously, a return policy is a return policy and I have accepted it. They order anything I want and even find items for me close to homeowner's specs. The customer service is great and the sales gal even stops by my job site once a week to check in. Wow what a gem of a showroom! Many obscure and beautiful artisan pieces mixed in with the standard fare. Extremely knowledgeable and helpful sales staff. I was looking for an unusual door pull for a custom piece in my bedroom and was able to find a crystal embellished seahorse that was perfect! I also picked some modern Italian pulls for my vintage wood custom closet that were perfect! And purchased some gorgeous modern house numbers. All product was received when expected. I used mostly Emtek Hardware in my new custom build house in Newport Beach. Unfortunately all exterior hardware failed. They tarnish and look terrible 6 month. I called the company to get replacement they told me they are not covered under warranty. I ask to talk to my sales people off course they were not available as always... ask them to call me back 3 times and never called me back. Again the hardware failed in 6 month that is not acceptable by any standards. After spending a fortune in this place to get treated with NO respect and NO care I will never recommend this place to anyone. read more

Amazing selection of hardware! We are in the midst of a major remodel. We needed new hardware for most of the house - kitchen, bathrooms and doors. I needed to make many decisions about hardware. I have been working with Ashley Taylor on a very expensive custom order ($5K is expensive to me) and Ashley walked me through the whole process, worked directly with the door manufacturer to answer all of their questions, would revise estimates cheerfully after every little change, and worked with me to be sure everything was correct since the vendor would not take returns due to this being a custom order. If you need to work with people who know what they are doing in the upscale hardware bus, this is your place. read more

The one star rating is for customer service based on the nice lil' show the owner decided to put on for me and his co-workers. If it wasn't for him screaming and cursing out his employee in front of me and his other co-workers, I would have probably given this place a five-star because they DO have a great hardware selection that you would not find at many other places. In fact, they had a large selection of what I was looking for and was having hard time finding elsewhere. Though, the owner was so busy yelling at his employee that he could not take a second away to try and help me or get someone else to. In fact, he out right just did not care. So, that clearly lost my business. I seriously would have spent some good cash there, but this man ignored me and continued to scream at his employee and curse at her.....very tacky. Too bad, because they do have some great stuff. My suggestion would be if you do go here is to talk to someone besides the owner. He was a complete a-hole. read more

If I could have given them a 0, I would have. I came into spend a few hundred dollars. I was there on 8-31-15 at 3 pm. I was not only the only customer , but they had 3 female employees. They ignored me and just were chatting the whole time. I don't spend money anywhere with horrible customer service. Home Depot has better service. Sad. read more

I wish I could give them a "0". I remodeled my entire home and was ready to spend over $1000 on "bling" hardware for the master bath and closet. I drove over to NY Hardware twice in two weeks. Why? Because the service was so bad the first time I couldn't bring myself to buy anything. I decided to give them another chance. I went in, two girls were talking to each other. I was not greeted after over 15 minutes of looking. Later, I asked one of the girls working on the computer if they mainly sold over the internet since she couldn't take her eyes off her computer. She asked me why I would ask that. I told her that I had not been helped after over 20 minutes so I thought she was busy. Her response was, "IF YOU ASK ME A QUESTION I WILL ANSWER YOU, BUT I AM NOT HERE TO FOLLOW YOU AROUND THE STORE". I left and I will never go back. The store is cute but I'm baffled at how one goes about purchasing anything? I need hardware for 59 kitchen cabinets and drawers and need to order today and I'm now headed for restoration hardware. I clearly needed help, I asked a few questions and the women there were annoyed to answer me and never actually said hey do need some help? IMO their selection is skews to an older demographic anyway, and they had almost nothing in chrome in stock. But still, I was disappointed I would have bought for convenience I'm in a rush today! HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!!!! So, you order a product with correct numbers, etc. Decorator picks up product ordered. Get product home and it is brushed not polished. Call store for help and Robert was rude and made me, the customer, feel like i did something wrong. Order was correct, they gave us wrong product and treated me like the idiot. When we opened the product that they gave us in error, he insisted that he would not help me until I proved that I received brushed versus polished. Not once did he say, how can we make this right, but instead he said "Lady I have spent 20 minutes trying to help you, but he wouldn't help me. He was nasty, rude and condescending. Gee am I surprised to see other responses on here that they have terrible customer service. Keep it up and they will learn that all these products can be ordered on line!!!!! STAY AWAY!!! placed a several thousand dollar order in June and still not have recieved all my knobs!!! Terrible customer service and when I tried to exchange some other knobs was told no even though I have this huge pending order. NO return calls and horrible store hours.
