I was referred to Newby's by someone who brings their car here for service. My stepson has a 20 year old Toyota SUV which was not in great shape. So, we brought it in and my husband was communicating with Craig on what needed to be fixed. We took care of the initial items, but unfortunately, the car needed more repairs. They were able to diagnose A/C, radiator, and a host of other issues. In total, I think we spent about $2-3k. So, I call this car Mr. Potato head because it looked like it was pieced together with a different color hood and parts. And Mr. Potato head made it to Oregon to visit family and back to Las Vegas after the repairs. When it came back, the last item that was recommended was a timing belt, but we no longer wanted to invest anymore into the car. My stepson decided to pass on making the repair at the time, and drove it all the way to Missouri, where he now lives. The car still runs and takes him back and forth to work. Thanks to Newby's, Mr. Potato head went from barely running to at least having A/C and making it across the country 2x! They also have a year warranty on their work and will answer questions anytime. This Family Owned Automotive Shop really did an excellent job for me and I will return EVERY TIME to complete my repairs on my 2000 Chevy Blazer LS. VERY reasonable hourly rate, by the way, for the superb technicians. I just gotta mention something funny, though: I hope they are not offended, because everybody there I personally dealt with was super friendly. When I returned to pick up my truck, they had some dude in a truck parked right behind my truck. I saw it from half a block away, so he was just purposely parking there. When I got to the door, having walked over a mile in the 110 degree heat, I see another dude come out and tell the guy, "It's ok, you can leave now." Car came in because it was overheating. Called and they told me they have a ongoing special where they waived inspection for heating issues, brought it in. Turns out the fuse for my radiator fan blew which caused overheating, but that didn't qualify for the special so they charged labor for replacing the fuse. Picked it up drove it straight home and everything seemed fixed. Not 24 hours after picking it up from the shop, my check engine light comes on, my Audi Brake Guard and cruise control does not work. They said they can't even take a look for 4 days. Thanks, no thanks taking it to somewhere who can work on Audi's. read more

July 2020 I had a leaky right rear strut on my mercedes benz sl 500. Expensive repair at the dealership and so went to Newby's thinking i would save. They kept the car for over a week, part way through the repair they had a valet from the MB dealer transfer the car to MB service for one reason or another. Paid $2500.00. Fast forward to today, 2022, MB service showed me a video of the leaky right rear strut. They quoted me $2,005 to fix it. I advised them Newby's had fixed it for me July 2020. They told me I may have a warranty on the part if they used an authentic MB part. Turned out they used off market parts from China and no warranty, not authentic MB part. Needless to say, better to go to the dealer to get your service and repairs. That way you are confident you will get authentic parts with a warranty. Btw, Craig, during the repair process he was incredibly arrogant and rude which is why I never went back there. FAMILY OWNED BUSINESS? What is that supposed to imply? Kindness? You won't get ripped off. I feel completely ripped off. None of the other struts are leaking, only the one Newby's fixed. AVOID THIS BUSINESS - they will rip you off..... read more

I get that this is a family run business but come on, show some professionalism. I had been here on three previous occasions and put up with Julie, the woman at the front desk because she's not the one working on my car. Everytime I've gone though, she's either chatting on the phone, putting on makeup, or telling some poor kid to go get food for her. On one visit, it took a couple minutes for her to acknowledge me because she was busy chatting it up with another customer who was heading out the door. For my most recent car need, I dropped off the car the night before and didn't hear anything for a good part of the next day. I thought it was weird so I called, Julie starts talking to me about a car that didn't even belong to me. Come one lady, get your head on straight. She finally pinpoints the right car and tells me the mechanic didn't find hear the noise I was talking about so they didn't do any work on it. Okay... So my car would have just kept sitting in the shop had I not followed up. I go to the shop, take a drive with one of the mechanics and point out the noise to him. He tells me the problem and asks Julie to give me a phone. She says she's too busy (with what, I don't know) and asks her dad to give me a quote. He quotes me THREE engine mounts with work and labor coming to $800. I went home to think about it and call the next day to ask if they can come down a little on the price since on previous visits I've seen Julie give people discounts. Julie wasn't there on my first call so I waited a couple hours and called back and she still wasn't there. I asked for her to call me back and guess what, it's been weeks and still haven't heard a peep. In the meantime, I went to RG Motorworks where they did a complete checkup free of charge and diagnosed that only ONE engine mount needed to be replaced for a fraction of what Newby's quoted me. Even if I got all three replaced I still would have come under $800. I feel the guys in the shop do good work, but I don't put up with people who are dingbats like Julie and I don't appreciate her dad trying to rip me off. read more

I called and asked to make an appointment for an oil change, simple task, but asked them please look at their schedule and give me a morning appointment. This way I could be in and out early. Simple enough. I was given an 8 am appointment a little more than a week away. So, I waited. I get their a week later and was given excuses to leave the car, they're busy, need a lift etc. I really expected them to keep their word and change the oil when I came in. This place sucks. Came in on Tuesday they told me they couldn't look at the car today they were too busy I said can I make an appointment they said yeah made an appointment for Thursday. Show up and they never put the appointment in the computer then they tell me that they won't be able to look at the car for 5 to 6 hours even though they told me to come back 8 AM Thursday and they will be able to look at it first thing. Upon recommendation from an employee at Jiffy Lube, I took my car to Newby's Automotive and ATV Center in Henderson to fix an ongoing problem with my air conditioner. Basically, the AC would start blowing warm air after a few days following a refill of the unit. The manager indicated that my car had a bad compressor which needed replacement along with a new hose, freon and other services that would cost me $1500 (in addition to the nonrefundable $24.95 I had to pay for them just to look at the car.) I was immediately suspicious of the quote and took my car to Carmax instead who informed that only a new hose was necessary and charged me $50 to perform the repair. The problem was solved with this relatively minor repair and no additional work has been necessary (this review is being written about ten months after the Carmax fix was performed and I have experienced no problems with the repair.) Newby's tried to charge me more than $1500 for a FALSE REPAIR that wasn't even necessary. I wouldn't be the first person to deal with a dishonest mechanic but I know that I'm one of the few who bothers to warn others. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE. read more

Newby's performed a vehicle inspection on my used car. I was so impressed with their service I thought I would write a review. They were swamped with customers but fit me in for a quick inspection. The high temperature this day was around 120 degrees due to a heat wave. There was no room to sit inside so I waited outside. Julie, the customer service rep, bought me a diet coke from the vending machine. Everyone was nice and courteous. James, the technician, went through the inspection, point by point, with me. First off, let me just say that my family and I are new here to the Las Vegas area. I knew finding a good mechanic was going to be a challenge! Like everyone else I rely on reviews and ratings from others experiences. When I started searching online I came across Newbys which I thought had a respectable reviews, so I decided to give this place a go! BIG MISTAKE!!!! The customer service I received from Criag Yakubesan who is the MANGER was beyond HORRIBLE!!!!! I was overcharged first off by over $200, when I pointed out to Craig he could careless and gave an insincere apology. In fact, he made me drive back to the shop to get a refund for there mistake!!! I am not a fussy person as my line of work is in customer service too. But I do expect to be treated like a paying customer should. Too bad, my family and I was hoping this place would have been our go to for our mechanic needs, especially with having four cars in the family. We've been super lucky not to have a lot of car issues, but recently my husbands alternator went out so we brought it here. Been here before for service, I thought it was overpriced. Second time around, took the car there for checking a code, we told them what the code was and that seem to confuse the hell out of them the next day. The owner can't see eye to eye with customers, he is a con artist wanted to charge $$$ for something they didn't do. Bad communication amongst the staff caused me to repeat myself to three different people. Dropped the car early, they didn't get to it until I called and told them that I needed to pick up my girlfriend at work, they started to look at the car right before I got there in order for him to justify a payment. I wish I could give 0 stars. Brought my truck in to get my brakes fixed. When I picked up my car, there were grease stains on my seats, trash scattered and one of my hubcaps were broken and just sitting on the passenger seat. On the drive home on 215, my brakes locked up and caused an accident. I had to get a tow truck back to Newby's and found out the mechanics "forgot" to tighten the calipers and they fell off while I was driving home. The mechanics were rude and unprofessional, didn't even apologize. Dishonest service. For your own safety and the safety of your family, go somewhere else. read more

When someone does not have a clue as to why the yellow, red or green light is sporadically blinking, one should call upon Newby's to clarify why the light is blinking, what needs to be done to shut the annoying light off, and a most importantly, an honest price required to fix it. Upon entering Newby's, to drop your car off, who some consider their car as a child, one is greeted by Julie. Julie is an supreme professional with an absolute warm approach to make one feel at home, as she begins to lay out a plan for making your life as easy and painless as possible. However, Julie may be out picking up parts, at times, for vehicles, as Newby's can become extremely busy, and Julie does not take her promised finishing times, in support of vehicle completion, for granted. Do not fret, everyone I have personally encountered at Newby's has the same welcoming, honest approach, as you may be welcomed by another employee. It may sound one-sided, referring to the welcoming committee, at the front desk, but I have not had the opportunity to meet many more of the Newby's employees or mechanics, but am sure they are second to none, because I have NEVER had to go back a second time for the same thing. These guys are great! I am from out of town and wanted to find a mechanic I could trust. I had my vehicle taken there after self diagnosing that it needed a new fuel pump (any where from $800-$1,000 repair). The mechanic took a look at it and called me a bit later to tell me that it wasn't that at all and it only needed about $200 worth of work. So glad I found a good mechanic. I would, without question, recommend Newby's Automotive to a friend. I also appreciated the cute dog in the waiting room. Definitely kept my 1 year old entertained! read more

My husband and I believed that this family owned company was honest. Julie that works the front desk, has always been kind and helpful. We always brought our cars to be repaired by Newbys. Let me tell you, a ton of money was spent there on repairs that was recommended by their so called Techs. I should of known, when we were constantly taking our cars back in for constant issues that seemed to never be fixed. I told my daughter to bring in her car for brakes. She was told, before the car was seen, by the owner, that her type of car always needs rotors replaced as well. My daughter, a young blonde girl must look like someone who doesn't question anything and falls for their advice. She drops her car off to be checked for brakes, they give her a call later to tell her that her brakes and rotors need to be replaced for over $700.00. She tells them she cannot afford that amount. I take her to go pick up her car right away. They tell her that her brakes and rotors are so bad, that it's metal on metal. We take her car straight into Firestone for them to look at her brakes and rotors. Firestone tells her, the rotors are completely fine and she needs to replace her brakes. My daughter told Firestone, she has no problem paying to have her rotors replaced, due to having two young little girls, she didn't want to drive around on bad rotors. Firestone told her, the rotors are fine and that the brakes and rotors are NOT bad. Firestone replaces the brakes for $220.00. I am sickened, I trusted Newbys!! Now I feel my husband and I were robbed over all the recommended repairs we had to do by this company. It's time these mechanics get investigated for telling customers lies and taking there hard earned money from them. I'm sure the Newby owners would be sick if one of their family members went to the Doctors and the Doctor told their family member they needed surgery for their health that they don't even need. I always dread going to an automotive repair shop as I expect the worst. Newby's was recommended by a friend of a friend. We were hesitant but desperate to get our car fixed. We are very happy. The staff was very friendly, helpful and professional from when we first called them on the phone... to dropping the car off... to picking it up. They were honest and didn't try to oversell us. I had been going here for the past few years, but no longer after the way Julie treated us today. She was extremely rude, even to the point of hanging up the phone on my wife and yelling at her when she went into the shop. All because my wife was not able to go in to pick up the brake pads on the very moment that Julie demanded. I had to get my front brakes replaced, and didn't want to pay for their pads when I had a lifetime warranty already on the pads currently on the car. She agreed to charge for the labort and we could bring in the pads ourselves. Fine, sounds good. Only when she called in the morning for my wife to pick up the pads, my wife told her that she would be in as soon as she could, but couldn't at that particular time because she had to take the kids to swim class. Julie yelled at her on the phone that we were holding up the line and she should be charging us $100/hr for it and hung up on her. Later when my wife went in there she immediately started to yell at her again and told her that they don't want our business. Wow, we were amazed at the unnecessary and completely inappropriate behavior of Julie. The way she treats her customers is inexcusable. So obviously I will be taking my business elsewhere and would advise you to do the same. read more
