We were on the hunt for some Margherita pizza, and went looking it up found they had some close to where we were. We are so happy we came in, phenomenal employees and flawless service. The food was good, but the people working here were so nice, a man named Steve helped us choose our food and dessert. The food was ready so quickly and it was delicious. Decent first impression for a quick bite to eat. It was a healthier alternative which we enjoyed. They offer personal sized pizzas, salads, and sandwiches. I got the chicken pesto sandwhich and a cup of fruit. The pesto flavor was robust! Came topped with peppers and cheese as well on a serious 11 grain whole wheat bread. The bread was really good, but the chicken was dry .. kinda like a lunch meat. Wish they would've served fresh chicken and it would've been a lot better. Wow, Newk's showed up. I've eaten here a handful of times but this time really just had me impressed. When ordering a half soup/half salad at a restaurant like this for lunch I honestly don't expect to be full at the end. You know what I mean? You get a few leaves of lettuce, maybe a crouton and about three little slurps of soup. Well get that picture out of your mind and imagine two bowls bigger than your face, with a decent depth to them too. One has a nice large salad (a full size you'd expect from other places) and the other is FULL of your choice of soup - I'm talking like if you move too abruptly it would probably spill. Needless to say - I left full - and with a bowl of soup for lunch the next day leftover. My meal came out to $13 something - which for two lunches - you can't beat it! It was busy (lunchtime) but my food was still fresh and ready within 5 minutes. I like to save money and calories so I usually order water and I highly appreciate places that have free lemons and limes to mix in - this is one of those places! Nice people. Nothing wrong with this sandwich shop. Average food... unless I ordered wrong. My grilled chicken sandwich was a bit dull. The roll was grilled but dry. The carved chicken inside was good but everything else, euh, was just ok. I didn't care for the pickled cucumbers or peppers on their pickle bar and normally that would have been a favorite for me. Two of the ppl in our group enjoyed their personal pizzas and someone said their Greek salad was pretty good although it looked lacking in toppings to me. Like I said nothing wrong with this place. It gets a 3 because it was very clean and the people were great. So far the food just seemed okay. It met the need, I ate it and was no longer hungry. I discovered the soft opening on the internet and I told several of my co-Worker's. We all met at @newks tonight with our families. The food was delicious. My husband and I split a Cobb salad w/strawberry vinegarette and a Royal sandwich. I had a sweet tea. The sweet tea was. It very sweet, but it suited me because I am cutting back on my sugar intake. Newks is a good place for a quick weeknight dinner. Salads are freshly made and very well done. Try the Grilled Salmon Caesar Salad. Sandwiches are tasty. Try the Royal. The drinks are all huge with lots of refills available. Their desserts are well worth the calories. The prices are fair and parking is plentiful. Their Loyalty program is a good one. Take out is easy. Sometimes I feel their soups are a bit heavy with the emphasis on cream sauces. I would like to see more and varied Soup offerings. It has a very comfortable vibe. Totally bummed. Over-priced. No quality control. I've never heard of it before, but with 5-stars and such a great menu, I was really excited to try Newk's. I work around the corner and a good healthy lunch is hard to find in the nearby maze of drive-thru sadness. I placed a to-go order online which was very easy. They have a nutrition calculator which was super helpful. I ordered the fire-roasted tomato soup which was very good - not too oily, not cream based but tasted creamy - nice flavor. But for $6.99 this "bowl" of soup was not a good value at all. The real problem though was the salad. I ordered the Ahi salad and the tuna on top looked like someone threw it on with no care, the pieces were crumbled and broken apart, and the portion was laughable for $12.99. Unsurprisingly, not at all like the pic online. I will say that the romaine was plentiful and very green - but even the other veggies (carrots and cukes) were sparse. I love the food. I've been going here for years and the pasta salad is my favorite! I'm always pleased with whatever meal I choose. My issue is that the people working at the ordering counter have been so rude the last few visits. They seem genuinely annoyed the entire time they take an order. The last time I was there, an older woman kindly asked the lady working the counter for some salt and pepper and got the response along the lines of "I'm understaffed tonight hon. I'll get it when I can." Seems like a weird response to a customer who had such a simple request. Just really unhappy with the customer service lately. read more

I'll start off by saying I love this place and their salads!! I work down the road and was craving the Chicken Caesar Salad so I got it for lunch today. Once I got back to the office to dig in all I could taste was burnt salad. The after taste was even worse so unfortunately I threw the entire salad away. All I could think of was maybe the chicken was cooked with the burnt char on the grill. I called to speak with the Manager, Randy and he fully refunded my meal and added a salad on him for the next time I come. My new lunch break spot for sure! Love the Panera style service, big menu right on the wall perfect for me and my feeble eyes. The menu was the perfect size with the perfect amount of "safe" options and "adventurous" ones (ie the shrimp pizza). I settled for a margherita pizza and it was absolutely delicious. The perfect size for lunch. A good crowd of people, but seats weren't sparse. Mostly young professionals from the surrounding offices on lunch break. My only problem is there's no wifi. But we were extremely impressed when the manager came over and allowed us to use his hotspot! So kind and out of the way, when they could've said no and left it at that. This definitely, warrants them a high rating. If it weren't for the lack of in-house wifi (especially with the kind of crowd you get, they have to know there will be some still doing some work on their phone or iPad etc) they'd get five stars from me! read more

Southside Newks Jacksonville We enjoy Newks food, but today it was absolutely disgustingly dirty inside the restaurant. We walked in and there was food all over the floor near the front. We walked up to order and told the cashier there was three tables of dirty dishes by the front door. We ordered and went to get drinks. The entire drink counter was covered in wet spilled drinks dripping onto the floor. We looked for a table and passed nine tables that were filthy. The only semi cleaned table was near the front glass window. We started to sit down and the chairs were as dirty as the tables! I asked the employee if we could have someone wipe down the chairs and she rolled her eyes and gave us a few paper towels. At this point we were out! We took our food to go since we had already ordered. The rice krispy treat at the front counter was so stale it fell apart when I opened it. Needless to say, I don't think you will stay in business with a filthy restaurant! read more

(I'm rating this place as a good spot for lunch catering for your office) The office there is so great! I emailed all the orders over to the email account because some people had picky orders so I wanted to make sure Newks got the order 100% correct. (Because you know how lunch meetings can get when someone gets the wrong thing on accident). Well they got EVERYTHING correct and included nicely wrapped silverware with everything labeled and each in their separate bags. So it was perfect for everyone to come up and grab what they ordered. A bonus is that they included a large bag of ice for the gallon of sweet tea I ordered without extra charge or me asking. (We have an ice maker so I brought over our ice). But I liked the extra customer service touch. They were a few minutes late delivering and management has already left me a voicemail apologizing and seeing how they can be make our experience better for next time. (I always add a little buffer time so luckily this not affect our meeting). I tried the "Newk's salad" for the first time and it completely filled me up. It had mixed greens, sliced chicken, artichoke, Gorgonzola cheese, pecans and dried cranberries. The chicken was very hearty and perfectly sliced. Not too rubbery at all. I recommend trying the balsamic vinaigrette salad dressing instead of the dressing that comes with it. read more
