Friendly service. But the food is par. I got the "Black and Blue" salad and it was underwhelming. Hardly any walnuts, roast beef slices were good, and minimal red onions. The dressing was good. Highly recommend this casual low key restaurant for lunch and dinner. The food is so good, fresh and amazing. It's served cafeteria style but has a fun ambiance. I had the steak sandwich with chicken sausage gumbo. The gumbo was well made with chunks of chicken instead of shredded. The steak is cut into thin slices however they give you enough to fill your belly. My favorite would have to be the peanut butter crispy. Perfect mix of peanut to chocolate (many places get that wrong). Sweet tea taste like tea and not just sugar water. Overall a really wonderful lunch experience. read more

My experiences at Newk's have been okay. The staff here are wonderful, so nice and helpful, so I keep trying different sandwiches but have not yet found anything I want to reorder again. Most recently we just did the grab and go chicken salad sandwiches, one on croissant and the other on bread.I had to wait in like at the regular cashier since it was a weekend I imagine and there was no cashier at the to go register. For sides we selected the dill pasta salad and the bean salad. The bean salad was the best option we had. The chicken salad seems very bland and the croissant was just too much heavy breading, so for a grab and go sandwich I would recommend sticking with the regular bread. The dill pasta salad was the odd choice. I expected more like a fresh dill herb in a pasta salad but what it tasted like was dill pickle juice mixed with too much mayonnaise and there was cheese in the pasta that did not help matters. Just a really strange taste for a side dish. The soups and hot sandwiches I have had in the past are better than the grab and go obviously but still just okay. Maybe I would do better with the pizza. read more

What a great eatery! It was my first Newk's visit and I can't wait to go back. They just opened one in my area (I'm out of town) and now I can tell all my friends how awesome it is. From the minute I walked in I felt welcomed by Eleanor's friendly "Welcome to Newk's!" She ten helped me decide what to eat. She said their Italian sandwich is the best, but that's not what I was feeling this evening. She said the second best is the Newk-Q with their white BBQ sauce, chicken, bacon, and jalapeños. I decided that sounded amazing and boy oh boy was it! I got the Newk-Q pizza that has a chili olive oil brushed crust. It was so good I didn't want to be done. Yes, it was heavy on the calories so I won't be getting it every time, but I actually think it was worth it. The flavors melded together perfectly. The chicken was juicy and the bacon crispy. My husband talked me into going here for lunch today. He's been before and has raves about the BBQ chicken pizza. I've had BBQ chicken pizza before and was generally pleased with it so I agreed to go. I was very happy with the generous amount of chicken on the pizza that was topped with warm diced tomatoes in top of the perfectly melted cheese. The purple onions were the perfect thing to counterbalance the sweet tang of the BBQ sauce that was just the right amount. The seasoned crust was not left in the plate. It was too tasty to pass up! And the light dusting if cilantro was a bright pop to the BEST chicken pizza! I will be back often! read more

Working nearby, and not from the area, my coworkers and I tried the place for lunch last week. I've been getting the same Ultimate Salad every day. No problems until today. Three quarters of the way through my salad i bit into something hard. I was able to clean it off and show it to the manager and my coworkers. It looked like a staple. We stopped in on a whim because the restaurant next door was crowded. You have to order the food at the register then you sit and wait for the food to be served to you. There is a complimentary bar of salad toppings (pickles, olives, banana peppers, capers, croutons etc.) and crackers/breadsticks. The menu is fast food Italian: pizza, pasta, sandwiches and salads. The vegetarian club lacked substance (I asked for them to not put any mushrooms on and to add carmelized onions; They did that but barely put any peppers on). Upon arrival at 11:03 this morning, i placed my order which consisted of half a roast beef sandwich with only meat and cheese. at this point it is now 11:08. at approximately 11:25 the cashier asked me what my name was twice and what i had ordered. after telling her this info i continued to wait another 5 mins another hostess came by and said that the ovens were not on and the food was taking longer than expected. i then heard this same hostess tell another employee that she was just making stuff up to please the customers. while all this is going on i watch 5- 6 other customers who came in after me receive their food and leave. this same hostess who was lying to customers told us to complain to the manager with a smile on her face. after speaking with the manager the food which was sitting on the counter was finally handed to me and i was offered a brownie for my inconvenience.
