This is literally one of my favorite places to eat and I visit this establishment quite often but the INSANE LACK OF professionalism drives me crazy. Customer Service is one of my biggest things whether dine-in or take-out. Let's start with the cashier... She is main reason I'm even giving them one star. She was polite and courteous. Then here comes the little girl that fixed my food. I was told her name is Alexis and as I said, we go often and she is always the one that prepares my food. Today was the fourth time (yes fourth) that she has not gotten my order correctly. I assumed a chopped chicken salad with avocado would not be too difficult but the salad is NEVER chopped. I send it back every time. Of course there is always attitude but tonight was the last straw. At this point, I watch them make my salad because I already know what to expect, which is pretty sad. She makes the salad and when the young lady brings it out, she asks that we check it. I pull the salad from the bag and tell her it was supposed to be chopped. She apologizes and takes it back to Alexis. Alexis then proceeds to open my salad, move my chicken around with her fingers and closes the lid back. When the young lady brings it back, she informs me that Alexis told her the salad IS chopped. I tell her that I watched and the young lady again apologizes for the error. I then ask for my money back for the salad because I felt myself getting to a point that I didn't want to be. The manager, Dominique comes to the register and begins the transaction for a refund while I explain to another one of the cooks that it's what she did after I sent it back that has me upset. She ALSO apologizes. So everyone is apologizing for this immature act that she has done over a salad. At this point, it's the principle because no one else should have to apologize for her negligence. I clearly am not that type of person as this is the fourth time this has happened. This is a reflection of management because they feel like putting a "band-aid" on this and giving me a refund will make the situation go away. WRONG CUSTOMER! I didn't even want a full refund and I explained to the manager that if it was money I wanted or needed, I wouldn't have spent it to begin with. I'm far from that type of person but I'm also not going to allow you to waste my hard-earned money and not do your job. I will be telling everyone I know and I'm military so I know quite a few. Huge fan of Newk's. We've tried the sandwiches, pizza's, soups and salads. Everything has been beyond good. I've always loved their little condiment bar set up. The kids love the breadstick packages and bread and butter pickles. They also have roasted garlic, jalapeños and some other condiments. The pizza's are always cooked perfectly. A nice crisp crust, but still has that hand tossed feeling. My husband and I usually share the BBQ chicken pizza and get a Caesar or Cobb salad (which are HUGE by the way). A perfect pair. Sometimes we opt for a sandwich, the chicken salad is delicious and I love the Newk's bread it is served on. My husband's favorite is the grilled steak or club. The white bean and kale, tomato bisque and chicken noodle soups are all good options. I wasn't fond of the corn and crab chowder or the lobster bisque, but to each their own. I've always loved their drink cups and their sweet tea. Kids always go for pizza and they're basically the size of a regular menu pizza folded in half, a good portion size for kiddos. They always manage to sneak in a brownie or rice krispie treat at the register, but my favorite is hands down - the strawberry cake!! Our family of 4 can eat here for under $30, which makes it affordable. Even more so on kids eat free nights which they have often. Myself, wifey and mom went to this establishment on the advice of my youngest. I must admit....I am glad we went!!!! When entering the establishment...you notice how exceptionally clean and organized the restaurant is. The staff were very helpful, polite and courteous. The menu is on the left wall just before you get to the cashier. I must say...they have quite a selection to choose from. From salads, sandwiches, pizzas and combos. After quite a few minutes of deliberating. I went for the whole Italian sandwich (capicola, moradella, pepperoni, salami, provolone cheese with mayo yellow onions, hot cherry peppers and Italian sauce). Wifey and mom opted for the 1/2 Roast Beef (provolone cheese, mayo, spicy creole mustard on the side). And we all went for a bowl of the crab and corn chowder soup. We found a table in the middle and placed our number on the edge. We got out typical fountain drinks from the dispenser and sat down. We didn't wait long!. In about 18-20 minutes our food was brought out. My sandwich was delicious!!! The bread was soft in the middle with just the right amount of crunch on the outside. Reminding me of the bread I got from the corner delis i frequented back in Brooklyn. The meat thinly sliced and piled high with all the fresh veggies I like. Drizzled with just the right amount of balsamic oil and vinegar. That coupled with the peppers and Italian sauce united for the perfect amount of moistness and heat. Both wifey and mom said that their roast beef was perfectly cooked and didn't need any mayo or other condiments because the sweet onions gave it just the right balance of flavor and heat. The soup was served in a deep brightly colored orange bowl and was just the right temperature for not scalding your tongue and throat. It was creamy and hearty with just enough spicy/heat at the end. Although i opted for the full sandwich....i could have gotten by with a half. But...hey...i was in the right place at the right time and the other half was waiting for me. This place was really good the first time. The second time, not so much. I asked for cauliflower crust pizza and got regular, they had to remake it. Then I found a long curly hair in my salad, they remade it. Next, my husband asked for ranch in his salad and got blue cheese, they remade it, THEN my husband found a hair in HIS salad. Like we were pretty darn accepting but after 2 order mess ups and 2 hairs that is our limit. I will never be back. So disappointed and disgusted. read more

My husband and I had a long day trip to the beach and heading home we were pretty exhausted and hungry. We figured stopping for sandwiches would be the fastest and most convenient solution to our dinner needs and decided to try Newk's - an eatery we'd seen many times but never took a chance on before. I have to say, I'm very glad we did! It is a chain deli, but the food was absolutely fantastic! I had the pesto chicken sandwich - chicken, pesto, bell peppers and goat cheese - with a half Caesar salad. Husband also had a caesar salad but with Mac and Cheese instead. Before I go on about the service, I have to say that my pesto chicken sandwich was amazing! They didn't skimp on the goat cheese but I didn't feel like they went overboard either. And I think the peppers were roasted because they were so tender and flavorful! The salad was a simple caesar but the lettuce was very fresh and came with shreds of parm and some croutons. The biggest surprise though was the Mac and Cheese. It wasn't exactly the greatest gourmet offering but considering it's a chain deli claiming that the mac and cheese is made with specialty cheeses, it was a delightful surprise to find that the mac and cheese was well flavored. The staff there was very quick to take AND fill our order. The lovely lady who took our order was also very nice and patient with my exhausted and scattered state of mind. When our order was ready, they brought it out to us and we headed home to enjoy our dinner. One thing we spotted on the way out that I wish we had noticed sooner (there's a sign above that door when you walk in) is that they offer "Grab and Go" sandwiches, salads, and select sides. You just go up to the cooler, grab what you want and check out at grab and go register (it's on the other side of the restaurant from the main registers). I'm definitely coming by here again especially now that I know about the grab and go! read more

We've been to Newks several times and like it a lot! The food is fresh, the sandwiches are made to our specifications. The strawberry and chocolate cakes are excellent. The banana cake was good, just not as good as the others. The only reason we don't give it 5 stars is because the prices are slightly higher and you don't have choices of bread for the sandwiches. Great restaurant! Roomy and even when they're busy you won't have a problem finding a seat either inside or out. read more

I really wish i could like this place. I've ate here twice and both times I was so confused as to why it's so popular. 1. The sandwiches we ordered had 4 pieces of balled up meat on there and huge globs of mayo. Awful. 2. The salad dressing that they brag about is so tasteless and pathetic. Throw the food to the side for someone else to take his sweet ass time to package it and then walk past me when I asked if that was so and so's order. One of the best quick restaurants in Summerville. I have noticed a lot of restaurants are afraid of flavor?!?! Not Newk's! My husband and I like to eat here on our time away. Although this restaurant is definitely family friendly, it's our get away. We like that we can totally savor every flavor without distraction. Our favorite is the Newk's Q. It has white bbq sauce - which has horseradish. I always add the tomato soup and moan. It makes my jaws tingle thinking about it. YUM. The staff are pretty friendly for as busy as it is. I have had mediterranean pizza, the grilled steak, mac-n-cheese with bacon. They are all good. I don't typically like pizzas so I wouldn't order the pizza again. The mac-n-cheese bacon was super amazing -not salty either. Value is great for the quality of food! Definitely check this place out. read more

This is the best "fast food" place around. I'm not sure it's fair to call it a "fast food" place, but it is. Salads, sandwiches and pizza are really good. I love the condiment bar where you can load up on roasted garlic cloves, which I've never seen at a restaurant before. The only complaint I have about this particular one is the employees. They're not necessarily unfriendly but definitely not going to go out of their way to smile or make the slightest effort to act like they like their job. I have worked in the restaurant business before and was well respected. I feel like customer service is a big part of working in the restaurant force. I went here for the first time today and was glad we did. Immediately we were greeted and briefed on how they do business, which was good considering we had no idea. Friendly and helpful staff. Food was tasty as well. I got the Newerks Q which I recommend. You have to order a drink separately but it comes in a huge refillable plastic cup with free refills in case your super thirsty! We love this new addition to Summerville. Great chicken salad and Mac and cheese and very friendly service. We've eaten here probably 8 or 10 times, and the only reason we don't give it 5 stars is because of a chronic lack of sweet tea. There is always some sort of issue with the sweet tea machines and they're always empty. This is unacceptable in the South! There should be someone checking the sweet tea every 10 minutes during the lunch rush. read more

I'm not a huge Deli guy, but my wife talked me into trying the new Newks Deli in town. I've always liked Mcalisters Deli, hut never just HAD to have it. But after visiting Newks last week, I am a changed man! I had their club, the bread was perfect. So warm and soft on the inside, but still lightly toasted to perfection on the outside, not over toasted or under toasted. The sandwich was perfect! I also tried their chicken tortilla soup as my side. It tasted like chili, like a really good chili! The atmosphere was nice inside and felt really chill. The only reason for 4 stars instead of 5, is for two reasons. One, I wish they would serve a pickle spear with your sandwich. They do have sweet pickles at their little mini bar, but sweet pickles are gross. Wish they would be regular pickles. And the other reason is the dessert, they didn't have much of a dessert selection. I tried their red velvet cake, it was good, but nothing to get excited about. Newks is our favorite lunch spot in Crofton. They offer lots of dishes but their bread makes sandwiches your best bet. Our favorites are the chicken salad, pimento cheese, and the vegetarian. They also have great iced tea- unsweetened, sweet, sweetened with Splenda, however you like it! This restaurant is also a great place to bring babies. They have car seat holders (not a high chair turned upside down) and the restrooms have a nice changing set up. 4 stars because I think they could improve by including a drink with combo meals. read more

Great, fresh salads that are a large portion. The only thing I thought was odd was the fact the only drink cup you can purchase is the plastic cup... which actually worked out in my favor because it's one of my favorite cups now. It's probably a good thing that this place is not too close to my house, because I would come here more often. Once you walk through the door, you are greeted by the staff. The first time we went here we had no idea what we were going to order, but the lady working the register gave us a recommendation and I have stuck with it ever since. She had recommend the Newks Q sandwich and I then got a side of the tomato soup as well. My family came to visit and we had brought them here one day and my brother ordered a pizza. He said it was really good (I didn't try it because it had shrimp on it and that is not my topping of choice for a pizza). This place gets pretty crowded on the weekend but it is worth it. read more

Newk's is my family's favorite place to grab lunch while we're out on Saturday's. Husband loves the roast beef sandwich, and I usually get the margherita pizza. Also, Caesar salad and mac and cheese are very good! Personal preference, but I haven't enjoyed the soups as they taste a little off (overpowering onion in chicken noodle soup? mushrooms in chili?). My favorite item from newks is the pimento cheese sandwich, it is sooo cheesy and bonus the French bread is fresh and crispy. I could eat this everyday!!! I would die from it though... I've also had the veggie sandwich and veggie pizza both really good with goat cheese - their pizza are Persians sized and have a crispy cracker like crust.
