Mixed reviews for this cute little place. Hubby said his was the best pizza he'd had in a while. Now he wants to go back just for that. My crab and lobster bisque was very good. I would absolutely order it again. The half turkey and avocado sandwich was bland and difficult to eat. Instead of being stacked on the bread, the ingredients were side-by-side on the crisp and rather dense and wide dark wheat roll. This made it impossible to get a bite containing both meat and veggies at the same time, and the avocado kept sliding out the long side of the split roll. It was awkward. I had to open it up and try to redistribute the components, but it was a bit of a mess. And it was almost completely flavorless, seemingly lacking even salt and pepper. But the ingredients were fresh and the sandwich generously portioned. Whether you have kids or not, you should be aware that on Wednesdays kids eat free from 5-8pm. This is a nice place for families, but there were plenty of couples, groups, and a bustling take-out operation. They have a few different bottled/canned beers on ice. Some ladies were spinning yarn in the back corner booth, which was cool. I will certainly return, if only to satisfy Hubby's pizza cravings, and perhaps try a pie myself next time. Stopped by here for lunch and it was pretty good. I had the roast beef french dip au jus. The one thing I would change is thin slices the roast beef. The thicker sliced is kinda tough to eat on a sandwich. However it was good and had great flavor. The Mac and cheese side was very cheesy and very tasty. My wife's seared ahi tuna salad was delicious. She opted for the rasberry vinaigrette which was very sweet and went well with the tuna. The side of loaded potatoes soup was good and everything you'd expect for that taste. Overall a tasty spot for good lunch with alot of healthy options. read more

The manager there, wish I knew his name, is ALWAYS so kind and goes out of his way to make sure his customers are having a good experience. In the past I have never had an issue with eating here but this time was different. My boyfriend order the Newks Cheesesteak with no peppers, onions, and pimento cheese. When we received the sandwich he realized it came with mayo which he didnt want. He told the guy at the counter that it was his own fault and that if they could remake it with just steak and chedder cheese that would be awesome but if not it was okay, he even offered to pay for another sandwich. The guy at the counter told my boyfriend it was no problem and they re-rang it in and gave him another number. When we received the second sandwich and opened the box we were pretty stunned with how many onions that they had put on this sandwich that was supposed to be just meat and cheese. After realizing this my boyfriend lost his appetite and we pushed the sandwich to the side as I continued my meal. I love the fact that you can make just about any sand which into a pizza, and it doesn't take forever! The staff at this location is t the friendliest, but since the food is great and the interactions with them are relatively short; I wasn't bothered. I would be more concerned if I were a new customer with multiple questions. I had the Newk's Q BBQ half sandwich with no bacon with a side of Mac and cheese. I can not describe how happy I am to see a Newk's here in Charleston; we use to frequent the one in Atlanta's Brookhaven neighborhood all the time when we lived there and have missed it so much. The drive to Summerville for Newk's is definitely worth it. Yesterday we visited this Newk's location in Summerville and were very pleased by everything here. Service was friendly and attentive; they greeted us upon coming in and asked if we had any questions about the menu, took our order, delivered our food in fast manner, and made sure we were satisfied as we left. The food here was fresh and delicious. I had the Italian sandwich with pasta salad on the side; the sandwich was was the bomb and the pasta salad freshly made. My wife enjoyed the Newk's Que and chicken noodle soup combo; especially loving the fact that her soup wasn't some canned or bagged soup like you find at most restaurants, but was in fact homemade or seemed to be so. A "tween" is what I call a restaurant that is not fast food but not really sit down either. You'll order at a counter and have your food delivered. I ordered a 1/2 shrimp po'boy and 1/2 simple salad. The salad was superb; a wide variety of crisp veggies. The shrimp po'boy was a little on the bland side, which is my reason for less than five stars. I rather enjoy Newks Eatery. Every time I've gone I've been satisfied and the food has been worth the price. Not to mention very good. I particularly like their salads. The chef and the ultimate are my go to's but I'm certain every single one would be just as satisfying. I love that the dressings are house made as well. The restaurant itself is in a good location and despite at least two similar restaurants near by, I think Newk's is the best one. The condiment bar is pretty great as well and is always well kept and clean. The staff is always friendly and work efficiently. I stopped in for a quick lunch right as they opened. I ordered a chimichurri steak sandwich with the Tippah County Caviar. The steak was okay.... tough but had decent flavor. The chimichurri sauce was potent; I had to scrape some off to be able to finish it. It had huge chunks of raw garlic in it and it was just barely palatable. The bread was delicious though. The Tippah County Caviar was not good. I took two bites and couldn't choke anymore down. It was so dry! I was expecting it to have a bit more sauce, but it basically tasted like raw peppers, dry black eyed peas and liquid smoke. I was hoping for a vinegar-y, slightly sweet thing, but that was not what I got. The kid's meal I ordered for my daughter was a good sized portion for $4. She enjoyed her meal. We also like the little condiment bar (although I am curious as to why they have such a giant container of capers? I love capers but I'm not sure anyone needs a gallon of them). The pickles on the bar are super and the little breadsticks are a fun little snack. The service at Newk's is great. The atmosphere/decor is nice. The place is clean. If I had known, I probably wouldn't have came but we were in a time crunch anyway and the place had good reviews and we said we'd give it a shot. We arrived and the line was out the door. I figured this was a good sign. The line moved quickly and I opted for the pesto chicken sandwich with a fruit cup. The person that ate with me got the royal, which has a lot of meats and a side of their cowboy caviar. We were given a number and they would bring us our food. This place reminded me of Jason's deli, without the salad bar. Once we finished our lunch, we both came to the same conclusion, it was extremely mediocre. The sandwiches were small, the sides lack luster unless maybe you pay to upgrade to a more tasty one, and the food just didn't have all that much taste. Maybe a quick sandwich place in the area, but if I was gonna do that I might as well have just gone to Which Wich across the street. I was eating bad all weekend and decided to go to Newk's for their farmhouse market sandwich. There is no meat , just vegetables but it tastes great. It includes grilled squash, zucchini, portabella mushrooms, caramilized onions and Gouda cheese. I tried it for the first time while doing the Daniel's fast. The gentleman at the door suggested it and told me I wouldn't be disappointed, he was absolutely right! The other sandwich that is my favorite here (of course it has meat) is the Newks Q (chicken with a barbecue type sauce). Great food ! Never had a problem with the service.
