My third time here but realized I haven't given it a review. The evening we went we both had the grilled pork sandwich that come loaded with meat, pickled carrots & daikon, cilantro, and cucumber. I love Bahn Mi sandwiches and this one was fantastic. We also decided to try the garlic fries topped with bulgogi beef. On our order you could really taste the garlic and the meat had good flavor as well. Inside the place was nice and clean and the staff was very friendly. Lots of parking so it was easy to visit. The spot is located in the same plaza as the Acai place! I couldn't quite figure out where it was until I saw other reviews telling me to park right next to the açai spot. I had really high expectations and the menu looks absolutely great. I ended up getting the bulgogi garlic noodles and thai tea. The Thai tea was really good. The noodles on the other hand were just super bland. The Bulgogi was not super flavorful. Overall, it was an OK dish. I always liked coming here, the food, the service and the vibes of the place are always great, but today I ended up finding what seems to be a fried cockroach in my popcorn chicken. Wasn't too sure what it was and assumed some other food fell in the fryer with the chicken but it looks like a roach and out of curiosity I even broke a piece off and it smells really bad. Thanks to IKEA food court being under construction, we found this place across the street! We got the garlic noodle, shrimp salad and fries, all are delicious! The shrimp is grilled/fried to perfection, with a crunchy exterior. Portions are generous, especially the fries. Definitely will come back. You go up to the register and order your food and wait for them to call your name. // FOOD & DRINKS // Vietnamese Iced Coffee - Tasted pretty good for the most part. Not too sweet so they didn't add a lot of condensed milk which at times is nice since it can get pretty sweet. 3/5 Garlic Noodles with Shrimp: Yakisoba noodles sauteed with butter and garlic. The garlic noodles had a great amount of garlic taste to it which I really like. The shrimps were cooked perfectly and they were pretty large in size. The only issue that I would have is that garlic noodles in general are pretty heavy since it's carbs plus a ton of butter so I was happy to share this with a group and have a couple of bites. I don't think I would ever order this on my own since it's too heavy. 3/5 Cajun Garlic Fries with Bulgogi Steak: The amount of fries makes it worth it, but it didn't really have a lot of cajun or garlic seasoning on it. Just tasted like normal fries. As for the bulgogi, it was not good. I would not order this protein if I come back. 2/5 Overall, I thought Nguyen's Kitchen was okay. Lunch in Carson, Los Angeles, California... Our friend, Craig Y., was going to Nguyen's Kitchen for lunch on Memorial Day because he got a free meal from Yelp. Celebrating APIHM (Asian Pacific Islander Heritage Month), the South Bay Community had a week-long "Experience"! We met Craig at this former location of Evan Angelo's Gelato shop. We used to come here for get togethers years ago! There's free parking and convenient restrooms! Now, it's an Açai Bowl place on the parking lot side, and Nguyen's Kitchen is at the other door - but both are connected, and the workers go back and forth between businesses. I drove around the building because Nguyen's Kitchen isn't visible from the parking lot. You'll see it from the street side. It's a cozy, clean, L-shaped interior with some tables and chairs for dining-in. Outside, there was also some seating! We checked in on our Yelp app for a free drink with purchase. I got a refreshing Peach Lychee tea! Thank you! For my meal, I ordered the Jumbo Shrimp Bowl. It had 5 large seasoned shrimps with lettuce, jasmine rice, cucumber, and pickled veggies. I peeled the shell off of the first shrimp, but all of the flavor is on the shell. I ate the last 4 shrimps with shells on... DELICIOUS!!! Veggies were fresh and crisp... I ate them with some of the dipping sauce and the pickled carrots and daikon! Yum! It was a wonderful experience! First off, this place was really hard to find because there wasn't a sign anywhere to indicate it's location. You really have to rely on your GPS to get there. My tip is to look for an acai bowl place. They are literally right next to each other and I believe they share the same unit. Food wise, the garlic noodles were okay. The food was disappointing. The pork bowl ratio of rice to protein was 2 to 1 and the pork tasted OK. The premium salad was refreshing. I skipped on the protein because I also ordered their garlic noodles with shrimp. All I can recall was how greasy the noodles were. I drank their iced peach lychee tea which was so sweet. We asked for a water cup and the staff member that rang us up told us that the dispenser was not working. As a result, we purchased a bottle of water. Shortly after, we saw that the dispenser was working fine. I ended up adding 2 cups of water to my iced tea to balance the sweetness. Placing our order was an odd experience. The beef patties are topped with onions and mushrooms that are grilled in Bulgogi sauce, giving them a much more unique taste than a traditional burger. They did provide some side sauces that were spicy but added good flavoring. I like the location where it is located inside where Pur Bowls is. I think it's a great place to hang with friends to choose from different options. We ordered the garlic noodles, popcorn chicken and bulgogi sandwich. The garlic noodles were not my favorite garlic noodles I've ever tried, but I will say they were alright. I probably wouldn't order them again. The popcorn chicken was good and their green sauce was spicy and flavorful! Definitely enjoyed it! The sandwich was also really good and I would probably opt for that the next time I try this place.
