First time doing a Togo order here. Asked for cooked, but got raw fish. Called to place an order, and the phone was being pass around for someone to take it. Had to repeat at least 3+ times that I wanted the fish COOKED. Arrived to the restaurant, no one at the front wanted to help me. Being passed around again. Afterwards, I said I'm here for my phone order and was told they wouldn't had made it until I arrive... wish they told me that over the phone to save time. Also they asked again multiple times if I wanted it COOKED. Lady waves me away after I paid, and I wasn't made aware that I had to grab my order from a different part of the restaurant after waiting 15+ minutes. I asked the worker if my order is ready. I asked her if the fish is COOKED. It was RAW. Worker said I can either take it RAW or wait longer. Horrible system. Only positives are that the servers are nice and the prices are affordable. The food here is delicious 10/10. Their service however is absolutely disappointing. I order their food to-go regularly. When you come to pick up the food, don't expect the employees to welcome you. They'll tell you to go pay at the counter and then wait for the food. Their cashiering is also very deceptive. They advertise on weekday lunch special: 3 dishes (catfish soup, braised fish and sauté vegetables) for $29.95 BUT that's ONLY if you pay in cash. I was charged $41.85 for credit card payment. Nha Trang is a well established Vietnamese restaurant in Lion Plaza in San José. Our family often gathered here when we want a meal with the cousins without breaking the bank. They are well known for the nem nướng that we roll ourselves, the sour soups ( canh chua ) with fish or with prawns, the clams with basil.... Too many good dishes to remember. Service is friendly and on point. Parking is plentiful since this is a trip mall, brightly lit at night. The food: - house special lobster - lots of meat, very tender, and the sauce was sooooo good. Great restaurant but I gave this rating due to service being mediocre. The lady on the phone was rude and not very helpful, if anything it felt like she was scolding more than anything. I called to place an order for lobster stir fried noodles. And how it works is you tell them how many pounds of lobster you're looking for so that they can choose one within your size and price range. I told them 4-5 pound max is okay but the lady acted like she was in a rush and saying she can't choose or save any lobsters even though I called ahead which I think is extremely stupid. So we come today to pick up not knowing the size of the lobster and what the price was going to come out to and the lobster ends up being 3.5 pounds. That's fine considering we're a small family but if this was for a bigger party or event that would have been a huge inconvenience. The system is very inefficient and confusing. They definitely need to fix that and please get better help for the restaurant because the staff is hurting the brand of the restaurant. read more

The best Vietnamese seafood and roll place around. All the seafood is fresh and comes with wonderful herbs. My favorites were the clams with punchy lemongrass and the chicken or beef salad. The chicken salad (not pictured) came with so much chicken it was ridiculous! Cha gio came out really really hot and took around 10mins for it to crisp up. Bun rieu was very solid, but the huyet wasn't the best. Nam neung or snail weren't anything special but will satisfy a craving. Came here to eat a meal w my extended family. It was a party of 9 so we ordered a lot of food to share. We got the sour catfish soup, braised catfish, lobster noodles, honey walnut shrimp, nuoc mam wings and some other dishes (tbh my uncle did most of the ordering). Overall the food is your standard Viet comfort food, the fish could have been a bit more tender and soft but the flavors were still there. To me the meal wasn't that amazing or impressive (but I'm comparing it to my mom's food so...). Like another reviewer said: you come here when your family is too lazy to cook typa meals. The main reason why I'm deducting points is because of the service. The server spilled hot soup on my uncles hand while placing it on the table and didn't adequately clean the table. They messed up our order and gaslighted us saying that we ordered it even though we didn't. (This happened twice). My family didn't want to bother arguing because we were all tired so we just took one of the dishes. We didn't get our water/drinks till the end of the meal when we reminded them they forgot it. It was quite large and I was only able to eat half and take the other half for dinner. There was a lot of chicken and some big shrimp in there was well. Service was very fast and efficient. Service wasn't the greatest here but I don't expect top notch service from a typical Vietnamese restaurant. For 4, we ordered: - chicken hot & sour soup hot pot: 5/5 - very unique; the flavor of the soup was more sour than I expected but sooo good!; very generous on the amount of chicken and vermicelli noodles given - fried intestine: 4/5 - not a huge fan of the lettuce that was placed right underneath; the intestines were fried well with a good amount of crunch; a bit more on the oilier end; really enjoyed the pickled cabbage on the side - garlic stir fried ong choy: 3/5 - it was a mix of old (in age) so some were hard to chew through; also after getting through the top layer of it, we found some were brown meaning those were old (going bad) ones The plates that the food were served on were not the cleanest.. I'm assuming these are decades old, all dinged up and stained.. but other than that; the food was good. This is definitely a hole in the wall Vietnamese shops. It's located near a lion market and other Vietnamese restaurants. The service was good and the food came fast. First time here and I tried the bun dau mam tom and it was absolute delicious. It definitely feeds 2-3 people and the fish paste sauce in the middle was absolutely delicious.
