Binh Minh has several locations, but this one is by far the best! While I'm not sure if it's the same owner, the menus are very similar; however, the portions here are more generous, and both the food quality and service are consistently better. I typically order the small goat hotpot with bean curd (which is plenty for two people) and the Veal Gioi Be Thui. It always hits the spot and satisfies my cravings. Definitely the go-to location!

AZN Uncle Hangout. Beer and lots of it. Hardcore drunchies. NSFW artwork. All that was missing were the half nekkid servers with pasties and butt floss. J/k! Yay for yelp for leading me to this gem because we don't have anything remotely like this in SF. Bình Minh Lẩu Dê has been around for over two decades. Seems to be one of those IYKYK places. They used to be in DTSJ but moved to E San Jo about 5-6 months ago. Noticed some negative reviews but I think it was meant for their younger sister location in Viet Town (on my list to try next!). Open for takeout, indoor dining, and outdoor dining (dog-friendly). M E N U Nhậu - Viet drinking food with goat, duck, and veal specialties. Small focused menu with about 28 items. There's some hardcore items like raw goat's blood and fake "dog" sausage. I was horrified to see the latter on the menu so I asked about it. The sausage is made w/ goat intestines. Self-serve beer from the fridge. Cc's accepted. F O O D * #14 Gỏi Bê Thui: Smoked Veal w/ onions ($20): https://tinyurl.com/mvey8yxz If you like bò tái chanh, Viet beef carpaccio, this will be your jam. Tender rare veal tossed with raw onions, mint, basil, peanuts, and fried shallots. Fresh and flavorful with good textures. * #29 Dê Xào Xả Ớt: Stir-Fried Goat w/ lemongrass, chili ($25): https://tinyurl.com/4s33pws8 My fav dish we tried, the stir-fried goat was tender with a chewy bite, packed with bold flavors and heat. Served with bánh tráng mè, crunchy sesame rice crackers. * #5 Dê Nướng Lá Lốt: Grilled Ground Goat (Large - $20): https://tinyurl.com/2ref4pd5 One of their most popular dishes, the goat "kebab" was savory and herbaceous with a slight earthy gamey flavor. It's an acquired taste as I liked it but my friend didn't care for it. Served on top of galangal and lemongrass alongside a huge platter of herbs (basil, mint, and cilantro) and two dipping sauces. The nước chấm (fish sauce) was perfectly balanced with a punchy tang and spice and the mắm tôm (fermented shrimp sauce) was pungent and umami-rich. *#13 Cháo Vịt: Duck Rice Porridge ($12): https://tinyurl.com/5n6ysdpp Great for nursing a cold or a hangover, the porridge was very comforting. The rice was broken down to a smooth, creamy consistency with pieces of tender savory duck. Be careful tho, there were shards of bones. S E R V I C E Phi, our server was very kind, accommodating, and attentive despite being the only FOH. Prompt food service. A M B I A N C E Renovated space, clean and tidy with interesting vibe of NSFW goat artwork, American flags, and CNN on every channel of their TVs. Visited for lunch so it was lowkey and we had the entire patio to ourselves. Patio is protected from the elements with overhead heat lamps and fans. P A R K I NG Tight parking with only 5-6 spots and one way in/out. We had to create our own parking space to the side of the building. Overall, super legit Viet eats and worth the trek from the city (to me). If you're feeling adventurous, give Bình Minh Lẩu Dê a try!

This place just got a new face lift and although it feels 90% done inside (see the ceiling panels they used, shows design of the product) the rest of this place is modern. The food is not my cup of tea but I went more for my wife to eat because she hasn't had this since Vietnam. The taste she said is just like Vietnam which is a plus. The service was quick and attentive even when we sat all the way in the back. This is more of a party restaurant because it's drinking food, so be prepared for it to be very loud.

Food 5/5 Service 5/5 Ambiance 5/5 This new location is so much nicer inside and spacious. Menu prices went up slightly but still decent portions. Best Hen Xuc Banh Trang I've had in a long time. Very flavorful, must try. Be thui is very good. Very generous with the side herbs too.

I can eat goat hotpot everyday. The broth is flavorful. Need to order taro on the side as it doesn't come with the dish. Ốc len xào dừa is ok. It's a bit pricey. Service is great. I enjoy the environment

Tiet canh

Ordered the tiet canh to-go and it was ready pretty quick. Everything was fresh including the herbs, lemon, and crispy crackers that paired perfectly with the dish. Hard to find tiet canh this good, but Binh Minh nailed it. Authentic and delicious!

When I first heard of goat blood I was like hellll nooo LOL. Then my brother made me try some and Idk if it's suppose to be some delicacy but it was pretty damn good. Decided to drive all the way to sj just for it and damn, i really don't know why it's so good. Ider the other dishes but if anyone knows any other good Tiet canh places

We came here after seeing good reviews but it wasn't as good as I was hoping for. Razor clamps was hard as a rock and no taste. It's definitely not fresh. Mussels has no taste either and very small. Shrimp in the combination noodles was rock solid as well. We had a dish but I forgot the name but supposedly it was rabbit meat. Never had rabbit meat before but it tasted like it was pork. It was ok but a little burnt. Anyway, nothing seems to be fresh except for the vegetables. It was very disappointing!!

Definitely a hidden gem - this restaurant has been here for many many years. I remember my parents ordering from place since I was a child and now here I am, becoming a frequent customer myself. I actually have never ordered tiet canh from other places besides here because they are literally the best. Everything is always made fresh. For the price, I would say it's worth it. Tiet canh and all the other items they have on the menu is the perfect drinking food!

Only indoor seating. Glad we came close to closing time around Sat 7:30-8pm so it was pretty much empty. Only one table was taken but they left after our food arrived. Very good place for goat dishes. We ordered goat soup hotpot, rolled ground pork grilled, and combination pork tripe. Everything was delicious. The goat soup broth was a creamy peanut soup. Very tasty and not too heavy. We also ordered corona to drink. Service was fast.

After having Binh Minh bookmarked for what seems like a lifetime, my guy and I finally took the plunge and made our way to the restaurant. Located offa Santa Clara & 21st Street, this little shack has seen better days and can easily be missed. I arrived to a single table full of men tossing back Heinekens and drunkenly singing a random Vietnamese tune. All eyes were on us as our party of two stepped in. I literally hesitated and thought about exiting the building. Lmao. We seated ourselves in the corner and were immediately given menus. The entire menu consisted of 19 items and primarily contained goat. We placed our order for: Tiet Canh [aka Vietnamese "pizza"]- raw coagulated duck blood topped with innards. Lau De Nau Chao [goat hotpot] Tiet Canh - where do I begin?? This dish was not on the menu but ordering it by name or pulling it up on yelp and pointing at the picture does the job. I anticipated that this bizarre food would taste like a wet bandaid and was incredibly wrong- it was not metallic|irony and seriously contained no flavor prior to dipping it into the designated sauce. The texture resembles jello and the tiny bits of duck made for an interesting feel. Fresh veggies and herbs help distract you from what you are consuming but I am far from being an avid fan. Lau De was the highlight of our meal, granted there wasn't much of a competition. The broth flavor was good and it complimented the bitterness of the greens provided. The egg noodles were piled high and the dish contained a good amount of goat chunks. There was no gamey factor but be advised that the bits containing skin was extremely chewy. 2 stars overall for the food and factoring cost. Food here is on the pricier side of things so come prepared with a wade of moolah- Binh Minh is cash only. +1 star because this place is undeniably skilled when it comes to preparing these bizarre foods and ensuring that everything tasted clean. No gross, unwanted, lingering flavors up in this joint. I can't say I'll be back- our party left full but not remotely satisfied. Money not well spent & the food here is a huge pass in my book but to each their own...

Amazing blood pizza. Ask for an extra cracker-thing, as you'll run out.. ($15, cash).

Broth was not so warm but has such clear clean taste. Can taste the aromatics more than the fish sauce in the broth; had a lot of celery like flavor. There were a couple of ribs in the broth with tender meat attached to it. I got the Nam Vang with egg noodles instead of rice noodles. The seasoning for the noodles had a slightly sweet sauce. Noodles itself was perfectly cooked, slight chew to it and not soggy. The dish had the sweet, salty, savory combo The egg rolls were on the smaller side but tightly packed with delicious ground pork. Crispy outside. Came with the slightly spicy sweet fish sauce with chili. The banh beo chen came in one small plate instead of little dipping sauce plates. It had minced shrimp (more like crumbles), friend pork rinds pieces, and green onions. I like that they used shrimp instead of mung bean paste. The steamed tapioca/rice cake base was also topped with fried pork rinds and fried shallots (tasted like smoky onipn rings). The combination of all the texture and taste was well balanced. Sweet, salty, umami.

The Bun Cha Ha Noi is fantastic. The pork belly was grilled perfectly, and it came with a huge assortment of veggies, a big bowl of sauce, and a good amount of rice paper. I loved being able to easily dunk everything into the sauce. Even the small portion was enough for 2 people. The Banh Mi Chao Bo Luc Lac was just okay. I liked that the pate was warmed up with the rest of the dish, and the beef cubes were well seasoned, but they could have been more tender. We also got the fried chicken wings in garlic fish sauce. The flavor on the outside was great, but the breading was a bit dense and the inside needed more flavor. The service was great and they checked on us several times. There is also lots of blue monkey decor throughout to live up to the name.

I usually order their Bun Bo Hue in a large size so I can enjoy some at the restaurant and still have leftovers to take home later. Service is always quick--you get seated right away, and someone usually takes your order within a minute or two. The food comes out fast, hot, and fresh every time. No matter what time of day I visit, there are always people eating here, which speaks for itself. The broth is incredibly flavorful while still being light and aromatic. Combined with the variety of toppings and fresh vegetables, it's hard not to dig in the moment it hits the table (as you can probably tell from the photo, lol). The restaurant has plenty of seating, making it a great place to bring family and friends. When you're finished eating, you simply walk up to the counter, tell them your table number, and pay. Just keep in mind that they only accept cash or debit cards. If you're looking for a comforting bowl of Bun Bo Hue, especially on a rough morning after a night out, this is definitely the place to go. I will always come back here.

Unfortunately, the service was not very welcoming--the staff came across as blunt, impatient, and at times rude--but I could have overlooked that if the food had fully lived up to the hype. The broth made a good first impression and clearly included many of the right spices, although it was also quite salty. As I got further into the bowl, however, the flavor started to feel flat and lacked the rich, slow-simmered depth I expect from a restaurant that specializes in this dish. It tasted more heavily seasoned than deeply developed, so experienced bún bò Huế fans may find it underwhelming. The meat was also not as tender as I would have liked, and the congealed blood--usually my favorite part--was overcooked and dry rather than smooth and tender. The visible holes suggested it may have been cooked too quickly at too high a temperature. Overall, the meal was decent and had some good flavors, but the broth, meat, and service did not meet my expectations. I can understand why it is popular, but I would probably try another bún bò Huế spot next time.
