It is a skewer Chinese hotpot place with several fridges and bar counters filled with stock for you to pick out yourself. As we only decided to come in here out of curiosity from the parking lot, we didn't fully understand how the menu worked. There was a QR code we scanned to pick out soup bases and such, easy. We assumed that it was AYCE because it wasn't part of the ordering from my mobile device. Aha, big mistake! So they actually count all of the skewered items you picked out as you drop the sticks into the little bin located beside the soup pots. Haha what a surprise when the staff started counting them! So with that in mind, be mindful of how many skewers you pick out and be more cautious with the sizing of meat. One type of meat on a stick is small compared to other meats for example. Nice 2 Meet U has reopened after renovation and the space feels noticeably better than before. Brighter cleaner and much more comfortable to sit in for a full hot pot meal. Ventilation is also improved so you do not leave smelling like hot pot which is a big plus. Food quality is solid and familiar but with clear upgrades especially the meat. They now offer more freshly sliced beef and you can really see the difference. We ordered several cuts including hanger steak spoon cut snowflake beef and beef tendon. Everything was sliced fresh nicely presented and cooked very quickly in the broth. The beef was tender clean tasting and did not rely heavily on dipping sauce. Skewers are still very affordable at 0.49 each with options like spicy marinated beef chicken gizzard and beef enoki rolls. There is also a good selection of small plates and braised items. Small plates are 5.99 each and include tripe seaweed beef tendon fish tofu shrimp paste meatballs abalone and more. Everything looked fresh and was easy to grab. Do not skip the fried rice. It comes topped with a runny egg and is very flavorful. It ended up being one of the most memorable dishes of the meal. Overall this feels like a strong comeback for a spot many people already liked before. Better environment more choices and improved quality while keeping the pricing reasonable. one of the best broth in the area. it's so good that you don't even need the sauce bar. spicy broth--beef tallow (or butter bottom in the menu) spicy broth--is real spicy. even the medium level is spicy! make sure you get the first or second level unless you're used to get extra spicy on other hotpot places. the 'pork belly chicken w pepper' broth is a really nice half and half (ying yang) mix with spicy broth. normally i opt for spicy broth and pork bone broth, but decided to just give 'pork belly chicken' broth a try, and was pleasantly surprised. it tastes like 'super chicken broth' you usually find in hotpot places in asia, but with stronger pepper (not hot/chilli pepper). it's refreshing and comforting. both broths (brothes? brothren?) are full of flavor and aroma. if you're looking for comfort especially when you're a bit under the weather, you come to the right place. they pack enough punch to clear up your air ways. the lamb is nice and lean, and not gamey. was pretty good that i didn't even try the beef. they have a lot of selection and because it comes in skewers, it's fun to mix and match and try everything without having to commit into a portion you can't finish. like lots of review have mentioned though, they do add up. this place on a rather pricier side of hotpots. but i'd definitely come again for the broth, yeah they are that good. read more

Is been over half a year since I last visited and I can tell the cooks are not the same. The meat wasn't cooked well today to the point all beef and lamb are fried to dark brown and taste almost the same. There are barely any screwer seasoning on top other than salt. Dear Owner, My family and I have been long-time customers of your hot pot restaurant and have dined with you almost weekly for several years. We have always enjoyed the food and service, which is why I felt it was important to bring today's experience to your attention. During our visit today, we ordered fried gluten balls that unfortunately appeared to have been fried in old oil, resulting in a strong unpleasant smell. We were unable to eat them. When checking out, I politely mentioned this to the female manager (I believe her name was Momo or Ember), purely as feedback so the kitchen could be aware and prevent similar issues for other customers. Instead of acknowledging the concern, she responded with visible attitude, rolled her eyes, and did not say a word--no apology, no thanks for the feedback. Her behavior made us feel as though we were being accused of trying to avoid paying for the item, which was never the case. Our bill was over $400, and we certainly would not raise an issue over a $3-$5 dish. What was especially disappointing was that a male server later came by, apologized sincerely, and helped us pack our food--demonstrating exactly the level of professionalism we have come to expect from your restaurant. Meanwhile, the manager avoided further interaction. I am writing not to seek compensation, but because I genuinely value your restaurant and would hate to see loyal customers turned away due to poor customer service. We first ordered our broth and items that you can only order through their menu (briskets, egg rolls, golden buns, chicken nuggets, etc) You can choose up to two broth. Then we went to the fridge that they have in the back to get the rest of our food. They have a lot of variety of meat and veggies. They also have quail eggs which is one of my favorite items to get for hot pot. They also have a fridge full of drinks but they are not included in the AYCE price. They have a sauce bar that has a decent amount of sauces but I was disappointed that they didn't have ponzu sauce. Service was pretty good. However, I noticed that most of the labels are now only in Chinese, which made it difficult to choose the dishes especially for those who may not read the language. It would be helpful to include English labels as well to make the experience more accessible for a wider range of customers. Worth the try: load up on the skewers, they're only 49 cents per stick. Beef coriander was the best IMO, but it doesn't hurt to try everything else. Also, the meat takes a bit longer to cook than typical thin sliced hot pot meats, so keep that in mind and be sure to leave the skewers in there long enough. Tip: The "butter pan" AKA the "spicy broth" is SPICY. We got "slightly slightly spicy" and it was already pretty spicy. Bearable and tasty, but spicy. Be weary when ordering higher spice levels. Bonus tip: Sauce is an extra charge at $1.95/pp. Bonus bonus tip: The sides in front are free. They're pretty good at refilling empty dishes, but some of the ones that are left there longer don't look too appetizing. PARKING: Lots of free parking available in front or underground. SERVICE: Most of the food is self-serve, or you can order through the QR code at the table. Servers don't speak too much English, so it can be difficult to communicate if you need anything. The English menu doesn't translate well either, and the sauce bar only has labels in Mandarin. You'll either be shooting in the dark and guessing half the time, or you'll have to know what you're ordering or bring a Mandarin-speaking friend with you. ATMOSPHERE: Good amount of seating available, but the restaurant feels small and the walkways are narrow. It's difficult to walk around when it's crowded and everyone else is up and about. Service: Slow, and relatively difficult to get anyone's attention as they were fairly busy. You order your soup base(s) and meats off the QR code that's unique to each table, then grab your own skewers and sauces. There were QR codes with Chinese flyers, and some of the staff seemed to prefer to speak Mandarin over English. Skewers for many of the items seemed a bit excessive when many of the items were quite small and would've been better placed into a small bowl as opposed to an individual skewer. The choices for Chinese hot pot here in Los Angeles are kind of limited (there are probably only five that are worth going to?), especially when you want the ones that are delicious and don't make you feel like you'd just splurged on a meal? Then, look no further then Nice 2 Meet U (那年遇见)！This place can get really crowded at dinner time! Nevertheless, the constant long lines are definitely justified ! The place is clean, and their customer service is great and very responsive. Moreover, the atmosphere here is pretty cozy even when it's crowded because everyone seems to be enjoying their meals! Moving on to their food, the skewers are priced at $0.45 each and the one that can add up to your bills at the end are the colored plates (3/4 plates would already cost you $30 or more). As for the broth, if you choose to go for the spicy beef oil flavor and unless you are good at eating spice, then you'd better pick the mildest spice level available because it can get really spicy. I have personally tried the bone broth, but they tend to be left untouched because I would just dip all of my skewers on the spicy broth! They also have side dishes right in front of the entrance which you can get for a fixed price, so get them to your heart's content! I ordered the non-spicy bone broth along with a very mild spicy broth. I was hoping that the spicy broth wouldn't be in so deadly because a lot of times these hot places make the broth super spicy. They give you a piece of paper to check off all the options and extra food items to order from the kitchen. This is a perfect place to come with either two or four people. You control the amount of portions to grab on your own. They count the number of skewers to calculate your bill. Everything we tried was super fresh and the quality was outstanding. Authentic spot to get Chinese hot pot in SGV! They have a fantastic variety of meats and veggies to choose from, so I highly suggest going with a group so you can try lots of items! We got two types of broth: house spicy tallow (medium spicy) and bone broth ( not spicy). The spicy table is the numbing kind of spice so just be aware. Medium was enjoyable for me without being distracting, and I don't have a huge spice tolerance. Most of the items you'll get are self-serve from in the fridge area along the back wall of the dining area, but some specialty items can be ordered off their paper menu. Sauce bar is also self serve with lots of options as well. You basically grab what you want and pay per skewer at the end, something like 40 cents a skewer. I liked the tender beef options wrapped in things like pineapple, cilantro, or enoki mushrooms. Off the specialty menu, I enjoyed the lamb shoulder and beef tongue! I found the flavors and menu to be very authentic (they have frog if you're feeling adventurous !) We even had fried sticky rice cakes with brown sugar, and Beijing yogurt available (iykyk) One thing I would recommend for them to do is add English translation to the items in the fridge as it can be hard to discern what the skewers are just by looking, if you can't read Chinese.
