We shared all the items, and we were glad we did, so we got a little taste of everything. The raviolini and the cavatelli were tied for my two favorites, but I enjoyed everything we had. This tiramisu was probably the best I've ever had, and the olive oil cake was something I'd never tried, and I found it to be tasty. The service was great. The host and the servers were all very polite and attentive. I made a reservation online, and I was glad I did because the restaurant really filled up fast. I enjoyed the ambiance. Likely not visiting this location again... I was driving my…read moreson home from surgery and needed to grab food for the family after being at the hospital all morning. As I entered, the guy working the register apologized for being on his phone and put it away to help me. Very nice. I placed my order and he was very kind & patient. The 3 ladies standing in the prep kitchen continued with their very loud, all Spanish conversation, not really appearing to move to prepare any food (including for the two customers who entered after me). I don't care that it was Spanish, just that their conversation seemed to supercede the need to do their job in that moment... So, I took my waters & treats out to my family & returned for the entrees I ordered. As I re-entered, one customer left with an order, another sat at a table waiting for his order, and a to-go order remained on the counter. While I was waiting, the guy walked over & offered me the to-go order on the counter "if I wanted it because the customer canceled their order after the food was made and it would just have to be thrown out, unless someone wanted to take it." He did warn me that it had been sitting out for about 40 min so if I agreed to take it I should heat it well to be on the safe side. So I said sure. One of the ladies from the chatting trio had starting preparing some food, finished the order of the gentleman who ordered after me & then continued with my order. In the meantime, a manager, or assistant manager appeared from the back and was informed that I would be taking the abandoned to-go order. They approached and said, "are you sure? It's been out for a while." I inquired about how long, and they said over two hours. AT THAT POINT, WHY IS IT STILL SITTING ON THE COUNTER AND BEING OFFERED TO CUSTOMERS?! SO NOT SAFE! So I declined that food & just waited for my order, which was taking a long time. When my third & final entree was completed, the guy at the register pointed out that they used the wrong kind of chicken & slid it back to a woman in the prep area. However, I had already been waiting too long & said just let me take it as is. She hesitated while her friend was still chatting away at her so I busted out my fluent Spanish to say, I don't have time to wait for you to fix the mistake because you were too busy chatting with your friends. The guy was apologizing but I told him he didn't have to apologize since he wasn't the one that messed up the order. Maybe that (assistant?) manager needed to spend less time in the back and more time clearing counters of old food and redirecting employees.

Came in and could see they had a few orders they were working on, being on a time crunch I asked…read morehow long it would take. "Oh not long about 5 mins". However, it Took almost 40 mins for my order to be completed. While I'm understanding of being busy and backed up, it seemed excruciatingly long. While sitting and waiting I was able to observe some things, The person taking the orders, was also prepping orders, and failing to wash their hands from working the register to going back to food prep. Kinda foul. Especially for not using gloves at any point. They also had a rice crispy treat prep sitting out, where I saw people continue to lean over to grab their food. It was moved at one point. To the pickup counter where it sat on the counter, where pickups are placed. That being said, I would not eat here due to the lack of food safety awareness.

But they also gave the option to pre-purchase cookies or caviar, which is a fun way to surprise the reservation party members. We had bar seats and left the option open to order à la carte or go with their prix fixe. The example menu on the website is several months out of date, so I was not quite sure what we'd get. But I understand the focus of this restaurant to be fresh, in-season food, locally sourced, vegetable-forward, French-inspired. It's a neat location near Mt Tabor. There's not a lot nearby, so it feels like a destination. There is a small parking lot next door, which is convenient. You enter through their market/oyster bar. There's not an immediately clear check-in table. And you're walked through the back to the other side where the Coquine dining room is. It feels a tad underwhelming - perhaps too casual for the finer dining expectation. Additionally, the person who greeted us was a tad surly. Service was friendlier during dinner but a little less hands-on than I'd like. I liked the design of the restaurant. Good lighting, natural decor, red countertop. They are a "zero foodprint" restaurant so the napkins and coasters are washable, serving utensils are wood, etc. It gave a very organic feel. Okay that said! We ordered the following à la carte: -Half dozen oysters (fun toppings - pomegranate gelee) -Bread and butter (normal, would skip next time) -Roasted carrots -Shaved cauliflower salad -Potato gnocchi -Pan seared black cod (our favorite) -Citrus tart (unique) Everything was tasty: well prepared, beautiful to look at, fun sauces and elements to discover. It might have been too many cold dishes at the start. We also got a half dozen cookies to go. I've heard that these are the best cookies in the city. They have nuts, which is an immediate disqualifier for me, but even without that I'm not sure they live up to the hype. Very delicious? Sure. Best in the city? I don't know about that. Overall this was a good meal, in a nice atmosphere. It felt very "Pacific Northwest." Worth a visit if you appreciate seasonal, ingredient-driven dining.

The market is well-stocked with unique shelf items from around the world-- pastas, jams/jellies, biscuits, oils, vinegars, tinned fish, and legumes. They have a vast deli case with meats, cheeses, and prepared items. The meat and fish counter is magazine-worthy and they feature some hot-food specials using meats and sausages from their counter. The wine selection is expansive-- we even saw a few bottles from the Loire region of France which we had the great fortune decades ago to visit family friends. It was the produce area that really made my heart sing and my eyes bug out. The produce section is colorful, artfully arranged. I could practically feel the antioxidants beaming into my body! I have never seen SO many varieties of alliums in my life. They had four different types of "green onion" (scallion, green garlic, calçot, and red spring onion), plus mahoosive leeks. We had a great experience with service which was friendly, helpful, and prompt. Since we were out and about doing other things we didn't get anything that required refrigeration like cheese, meats or produce, but we did have sandwiches from the deli case which were tasty. I look forward to going back for some of the produce and cheeses.
