Tried to book a Tuesday night reservation for two tables 10 people at each, with different checks. The hostess rudely hung up on us after saying they are short staffed and cannot accommodate. We bring clients there often and if they do not need our business no problem. We gladly will take our money elsewhere. what has happened to Class, and top notch service to make business a success? People quickly forget who is the customer willing to pay your tip and for the food. I do not recommend bringing important clients to this average restaurant unless you want to be mistreated by bad staff running the front . read more

I've been coming to Nick's for years, and this is one of my absolute favorite places in Pensacola! The food is always perfectly fresh, perfectly cooked, and wildly delicious, and the wait staff is always attentive. I started lunch with a Caesar salad, and it was absolutely delicious. This trip I ordered the grilled founder with mashed potatoes and green beans (I was going to order the collard greens, but my waitress told me the green beans were incredibly good that day. I'm glad I took her suggestion!) The fish was served with a citrus pear blog, and it was perfectly cooked. It was so fresh and delicious. The green beans were crisp tender and perfectly seasoned. Went here on a Monday afternoon for lunch. We had 3 people helping us. 2 were really friendly and helpful. 1 was clearly in a bad mood. The shrimp and crab dip was very good. The house salad was a generous serving and fresh. The Mahi Mahi tacos were so good!! They did not skimp on the Mahi. It was a lot of fish. The view was amazing. Brooke was a wonderful server. She offered the best ever, so attentive yet not disruptive. She was amazing!!!

Surprisingly quiet on a Tuesday night with good weather and activity at the stadium. I was by myself, so I ate in the bar area. She was helpful and attentive. I was thinking there was a Catch of the Day sandwich, but either I was looking at an old menu or was confusing Nick's with somewhere else in the downtown area. I had the Mahi sandwich and it was fine (broiled in my case, not fried). A bit warmer and I would have done the patio, but the temperature was dropping pretty quickly at nightfall. Live music is a bonus! The food is delicious and this beautiful restaurant overlooks the bay with an awesome outdoor patio. They have live music on Saturday and Sunday brunch with bottomless mimosas. They are also scheduling live music on Friday and Saturday nights from 5-9pm. This would be my go-to if I lived here. It is my favorite! Their brunch menu is amazing! read more

I would suggest better training the servers. I took my parents for lunch and once we finished eating, I was surprised when I received the check without even asking for it. We were not asked about dessert or if we would like anything else. She got a 30% tip and a note in the check with a thank you for the great service. Maybe this may bring some reflection about serving people well, addressing all seated at the table politely, and before bringing the check, asking if anybody would like anything else. read more

The Seafood Gumbo was bland. It needed to be heat hot and have some kind of seasoning. The worse I've ever tased. The Fish & Chips said beer battered fried catfish on the menu. It was frozen white fish with no flavor. I would not recommend this restaurant at all. read more

We ordered the smoked tuna dip for our appetizer and it was extremely salty. We ordered the bourbon breeze and sailors delight and both cocktails were very weak with no indication of alcohol. These drinks are way over priced. For our entrees we ordered the blackened mahi mahi sandwich and shrimp & grits. The sandwich was delicious but the shrimp & grits we sent back. We went on a Friday for lunch and they had really Good service. Great views on the patio. Over all the food was yummy but just ok. The salmon salad was filling and the sweet potato fries were good but wish they were hot. The sauce the fries comes with is way too sweet. Try it with BBQ sauce instead. Peggy and I stopped here because of the sign. You know what they say, no guts no glory. This turned to be be glory. We were earlier in the evening and it was great because we're pretty much able to sit anywhere. The views are awesome. The bar looks interesting. I'll let you read between the lines on that one. Anyway we were seated and the service was spotless and the food was perfect. If you're back in the area you should definitely stop here. It was very clear that our server was treating us as if she knew she was going to get 20% gratuity off of every split check On our bill so she completely phoned in her service. It was horribly dry and the ettoufé was more like a dry crawfish, rice and corn salad. Every Thanksgiving my husband and I go to Orange Beach, AL for the week. We decided to drive over to Pensacola and try out some new restaurants. We had high hopes for Nicks, but it disappointed us. They offer steamed crab legs on their menu, but when we asked if we could have them steamed without any seasonings (I am allergic to Old Bay and other things like that), the waitress said she would check. She came back and said they couldn't do that. The restaurant is a very nice restaurant...not a hole in the wall place...so it was very disturbing to find out they either cook their crab legs ahead of time or they come precooked. We have been to LOTS of restaurants in the Orange Beach/Gulf Shores area and never had a problem with having the crab legs steamed without seasonings. Unfortunately, we will not return to this restaurant. read more

The restaurant has a beautiful view of the bay, close to many tourist things to do. Service was fair, not great but we were a group of 14 and one waitress. I ordered the shrimp poboy, never in a beach restaurant does a poboy come with popcorn shrimp. The shrimp was tiny and over cooked. My sandwich was $19.99, how can you mess up on a shrimp poboy near the Gulf of Mexico. I also got a cup of lobster and shrimp bisque, so blend. I kept adding salt and pepper Yes, very disappointing. My husband ordered the bisque also but he got the big bowl, thankfully I got a smaller size. I will confess I am from here and I know where to get good seafood and I did measure their quality from other restaurants from here. I personally don't know why someone would go back. We wasted $85.00, it was my husband's birthday and wish we had drove to the beach for a great meal. read more

We've been here before but I failed to review, silly me. While we have a couple hours to spare we couldn't think of a better view with good food than right here and man these boom boom shrimp are crazy good!! First of all let's talk about the view, it's gorgeous with seventeen four and six seat tables outside with an unobstruced view of the Gulf iof Mexico. There's a sailboat anchored nearby and besides the pelicans and seagulls we actually had dolphins playing in the cove just 50 yards away from our table which is only twenty feet from the shore/beach line, very nice Closeby just to the east and visible the Maritime Park and the Blue Wayhoos baseball park both of which we've been to for games and concerts. Moving on to the dining experience, as I said we've been here before and I recalled it fondly but this time was very, very good. We started off with a couple drafts (happy hour until 6pm) and the boom boom shrimp appetizer. The shrimp is cooked perfectly and the sauce is outstanding! Just the right amount of spice without losing the texture and taste of the terrific fresh Gulf Shrimp. My honey ordered the Mahi Mahi sandwich (bronzed) with lettuce & tomato and her sides were herbed mashed potatoes and Cole slaw. The mahi was cooked perfectly and both the mashed and slaw were very good. I went with the surf & turf which is an Angus sirloin and shrimp. I had my steak medium and my shrimp bronzed with the vegetable of the day (green beans) and the mashed. First of all the shrimp was very good as well as the beans and mashed. The steak was seasoned very well but just a little to the medium well side but it was still quite lean and delicious. We finished up by sharing a blueberry crumble ple that was light and very tasty. Tia was our very friendly, professional and attentive server who made sure we were very well taken care of. Big kudos to a great young lady who obviously cares about her peeps!! Bottom line: The service is outstanding, the food is very good and the view is glorious and there's a 20% veteran, police & fire discounts, so yes I can day enthusiastically recommend!! Note: It's pet friendly so pups are welcome on the deck and there's a beautiful resident kitty lounging outside and takes care of keeping the geckos and lizards away, good kitty! read more

I wanted to leave a review so others know what a hidden gem this place is. I've lived here for a year, and never tried this place because the reviews led me to think it was different then what it is. It's a very nice restaurant, you can sit inside or out, but outside is still very nice. (Not as casual as the reviews & pics leave you thinking) It so convenient, walking distance from downtown and next-door to the wahoo stadium. I believe there's a new boat dock going in nearby. You can pull up in your boat, go in and have dinner. It's the ultimate Emerald Coast lifestyle. I had a top notch drink and a filet mignon on the patio at sunset and it was PERFECT !!
