This place is good. I love their Gyro but I am also a big fan of their burgers. Their pastrami is awesome! and my favorite all time thing...Zucchini!!!! The deep fried zucchini is just the best! Thin, crispy, delicious. They used to be cash only but now they accept credit and debit cards which is helpful when I sneak in some zucchini on my drive home :) The staff is friendly, the manger is a very nice guy and he comes out and checks on the guests as well. I have been coming to Nicks for many years and have always been happy and satisfied with the quality of the food and friendliness of the staff. Today I was less satisfied with the food this time around.. I ordered a BLT with extra bacon and it was so soggy and wet I gave up and just ate the bacon. There was so much water that it made it impossible to eat.. I ordered the bacon not crisp and it still was.. Learning experience I guess.. I know times are tough for A lot of us right now. But please support your local mom & pop shops, we are all doing our best to keep our doors open, It's very hard to get good help these days. I went here on my way to pick my spouse up and to get us a bite to eat and was very excited to try out this place. The menu is massive. They have everything it would seem. From breakfasts to deserts. Finding it was a little tricky for me as I do not visit Redlands very much but I did find it and was happy to see it was pretty busy so that should be saying something about their food right? Even though there was a lot of traffic in the drive through they were very quick and I didn't wait long. The lady at the window was super sweet and they were quick to give me my food. Sadly my coke was super flat, all I could taste was the syrup and it was almost at room temperature. So I had to stop and buy a new coke. The fries were not that great, kinda bland and taste like they didn't add any salt or anything to them. My burger was just "ok" it wasn't amazing but it wasn't bad. The serving sizes were huge. Normally I would NEVER drive out to Redlands on a Thursday after work, but I did. Traffic was hell and the rain didn't help. Once I purchased the item I drove out there for, I figured I'd kill some time to let the traffic thin out a bit while I refuel myself. At the one intersection I crossed near the freeway there's a McDonalds (no!), a Del Taco (no!) and Nick's. It was an easy choice. SERVICE: I was greeted with a cheerful smile and a very bubbly personality. Once my food was ready (very fast) they brought it to my table, very nice. The interior was nice, very clean and ever so slightly dated (not a bad thing). FOOD: I ordered the Gyro sandwich ($5.25) & a grilled cheese sandwich ($2.65)... yeah healthy eats, right? Haha. The Gyro, with the meat, tomato, lettuce and onion was tasty, but it was obvious the meat was not carved from one of those vertical, rotating rotisserie things it usually would be carved from, the slices were too uniform. The Grilled Cheese was very nice, only the outer part of the bread had that nice light crispy-ness it should have, while the inner part was nice and soft. Well done Nicks! I normally try to stay away from fast-food restaurants because most don't really care about the quality of food they sell and the service is poor, but because Nick, his wife and son Steve are usually always there, you can be assured that your dining experience will be a good one. I've been going here since my grandfather started taking me as a kid. I used to hate it, he would always get fried zucchini which I hated and still do. So I stayed away for years, which was a mistake. Nicks is a Redlands institution, they've been serving the same stuff since I was a small child. I'm glad they've stayed the same (with the exception of taking cards now which is much appreciated). Nicks burgers are excellent same with the fries. The fried chicken and chicken tenders are also really good and not overly greasy. But I think the best thing about Nicks is they make their own ranch. Yeah it's 50 cents (worth it) but it's so thick and tastes way fresher than anything else I've had. Yes, you want potatoes. As far as i can tell, it's eggs, a generous amount of avocado, hash browns, zuchinni, broccoli, cheese, and perhaps some other veg on a flour tortilla. I can comfortably eat 3/4 of it and then I'm uncomfortable with the last 1/4, but yet i must eat it. They will ask if you want salsa. Yes, you want salsa. Get two. Or three. If you're looking for always consistent "home style/hole in the wall" type of food. Come to nicks! For years, I was skeptical about this place. It just doesn't look legit! From the outside appearance of the building...you'd think this place, well, sucked. But I finally gave in about 3 years ago, and this has definitely become a place I come to very frequently. My #1 go to meal here is the GYRO!! It is SOOOOOO good!!! The Lamb in always perfectly seasoned and tender. Yogurt sauce (Tzatziki) is thick, tart, and has great garlic/cucumber flavor. It also comes w/ fresh red onion and tomatoes. and what makes it is the pita bread...I don't know if they make it themselves, but all I can say is WOW! **TIP** = When I go, I usually get the special (w/ fries), and put the fries IN my GYRO!!! talk about taking it to another level! it goes from being a 5 out of 5, to a MILLION over 5. :) Other things to try out here are: The burgers, fried zucchini stick, mushrooms, and beef dip. If you dont/can't eat pork and ask for alternative they will not ne nice or accommodating. Oh they will accommodate with annoyance. And they will send a waitress over to let you know in a backwards way that you are not welcome back. Not in those words but by advising you they cannot accommodate you again even if you are willing to pay the difference. It was clearly discrimination. If I had not heard a few modifications come through like steak instead of chicken or other modifications witnessed, I would not have felt discriminated against. If your hash browns cost more than your burger patty then its not all beef. Jews, Jewish Christians and anyone who does not eat pork beware. If I ate pork I'd be sick. But they dont have courtesy or understanding at all. Update: His response is half true. There are other options but if you have dietary restrictions and they won't accomodate then you cannot order a "traditional" breakfast option of your choice. Any other place will accommodate my request. And the other options did not appeal to me. I just wanted a traditional breakfast but can not eat pork. It would make me sick. Chili Cheese Fries - The best in the area hands down no questions asked. Tom's taste like they've used some nasty reconstitution of meat and Burger town has a weird cinnamon or some other spice in it. It is not often I award a 5 star rating to a fast food restaurant. This place is definitely the exception. I ordered a Hamburger with Onion Rings and an Iced Tea. The burger was excellent and very large, cooked to perfection and the onion rings were prepared very well and the portion was huge! The Iced Tea is self serve and the quality was very good too!! The service was very friendly and the person that took my order suggested grilled onions on my burger and this was a hot tip. My order was prepared and served promptly and this was right after 12 noon on a weekend and the place was pretty busy. My guess would be 3/4 full. I threw it away and wasted my money. Definitely will NOT be ordering another bacon burrito here if I do come back. I don't understand how a cook can take BURNT BACON off the grill and really think it's ok to put into a customers order. You can tell with the color difference what bacon should be served and what shouldn't. It's inexcusable and terrible customer focus. Great food, at a good price. It's always so clean when I go in, and that's unique for a diner-esc restaurant. My boyfriend and I eat out a lot, and this has quickly become our summer go-to spot. I get a veggie burger with fried mushrooms and my boyfriend gets the avocado burger with fried zucchini, so so good. The only thing holding this back from being a 5/5 review is the service. The person taking our order seemed very disinterested in taking my order and was very rude/passive aggressive. After browsing other reviews from Nick's, it seems like a lot of people have the same issue here. From a restaurant that has been here for years, and is firing on all other cylinders, you'd think this could be resolved rather easily. I was one of there first customers in 1989 when they opened up a closed down K.F.C. restaurant you can still see the roof top where KFC colonel photo was advertised. they have very good food there and I went the other day you can still see Nick cooking food along his cooks because he has pride in his food they always have a A rating from the health dept. I even met my 2nd wife there she worked the drive thru in 1993 when I worked across the street I went there almost every day I still go there when I am in town and seen Helen Nicks wife still working there too when I first went there in 1989 it was just Helen at the register and Nick cooking breakfast. they expanded the dining room in 1994 moved dining area out T'words the Blvd. made it look like it has always been that big inside matched the windows and floor tile exactly like the original windows and floor tiles are still in place and added a small office right behind the drive thru not many people know this. but I have been going there since I think was the month of June in 1989 when a co worker brought a menu and said this place just opened looks like they have good food I have been hooked ever since and still hard to find a seat at lunch time. This is certainly one of the better burger locations around the Redlands area. If you're like me, you're often in cahoots about where to go besides In-N-Out that's not a sit-down restaurant. Nick's Burgers comes through. I always order the bacon cheeseburger along with a side of fries. The bacon is high quality, not thin but thick, and has always been cooked just right whenever I've eaten here. They give you a few strips at least too. Secondly, the burger itself balances the right amount of juiciness and flavor. The bun is never smashed and fresh. As for the fries, well, they have some of the better ones that I've tasted at a fast-food joint. They are very plump steak fries, so if you're like me, you're overjoyed by this fact. There isn't a more delicious type of french fry for my money. They even offer a plethora of items to choose from if burgers aren't your fancy. I have yet to explore the rest of the menu but I'm sure I will someday when I'm craving something other than a hamburger. I would imagine their tuna melts would be good. The price of the food is just fine too. One downside to the place is that they accept cash only, but there is an ATM inside if you're desperate. But this is a minor complaint and not something that changes my overall opinion. read more

The young lady up front (I forgot her name) was very nice and offered some recommendations. She was also very helpful and made sure to make us feel welcomed. I ordered the avocado burger which was actually pretty big compared to what I'm accustomed to. But it was pretty tasty. My husband had the bacon burger and he enjoyed it, as he finished it up in no time. I had the fried zucchini which was fairly good with a couple of raw pieces here and there, but not so much that it took away from the flavor. My husband had the onion rings which he seemed to be disappointed in at the time. Being that this was the first time here, and they offer breakfast meals as well (not just burgers) we've decided to try the remaining items in their menu. So we will be returning again. read more

This place has the BEST grilled cheese in the Inland Empire! Perfectly gooey American cheese between perfectly grilled, slightly crunchy bread. AMAZING!!!!! Their ranch dressing (although I don't think it's homemade) is the PERFECT consistency for dipping their zucchini fries in. We came here for breakfast and I was surprised at how pack they were. Apparently this is the place to come because people were coming in at a steady pace. I especially liked it because the prices were decent and I spent less than at other breakfast joints.
