Absolutely a wonderful dinning experience! Was greeted by the manager it seemed, his name was Andrew and was so welcoming and sweet. Our waitress Sofia was also amazing took our order made some wonderful suggestions. Wasn't to loud but, also not a quiet restaurant it's lively in a nice beachy area surrounding shops and bakery has nice fireplaces for people to hang outside the restaurant. Our food was excellent started off with asparagus fries which were delicious and crunchy. Also, got the tuna tartar and sourdough loaf. Great starters highly suggest! Alana had that rascally look in her eye when she said that she wanted to take me somewhere... We had just had an adventurous morning filled with errands and sight-seeing. We were both hungry at 3pm and this was our first meal of the day. It was an excellent meal! "Worth waiting For..." We luckily found a metered stall right away on the street. It already had 55 minutes in it - yay! I dropped a quarter in for some cushion of 20 minutes. It was just about right. I thought I'd never return to this area of town because last time we were here, we had such difficulty finding parking. This time made up for last time because this parking was right next to Nick's! When we walked in, I noticed that the receptionist was wearing a silver lapel pin in the shape of an "N". I'm glad I didn't ask her if her name was Nadia... Later, I figured out that "N" is the logo for the restaurant! We got seated right away. It was an off time, so many tables were open. I chose indoors because outdoors was a bit brisk - even with my jacket on! Yes, this is September in LA... almost like autumn in Hawaii to me... haha! Service was a bit slow, or we decided really quickly because we gave our order to the bus person instead of our waitress. Alana chose the Chilean Sea Bass (melt in the mouth) and I got the Pork Ribs (a bit spicy and fall off the bone). Both dishes were so tender, well seasoned, and beautifully presented. I enjoyed the French Fries that accompanied the ribs. I couldn't stop eating them! I also liked the "Petite Bistro Salad" which was more like a cole slaw because it had some bits of nuts, cheese, shredded kale, and jicama - yummy! One of the odd things (that I don't have a photo of) is the way the ketchup arrived to the table. It was in a small silver cup in a flat, wide bowl along with 2 rolled hand towels. We figured that the towels were meant to be used right away since they were moist and heated. They sure came in handy after the meal because the BBQ sauce from the ribs was thick and sticky! This restaurant is open air. I was surprised that a fly joined us for our meal. He was a real pest! LOL! We had to keep swatting him away! Overall, this was a delicious late lunch. One of my favorite places in Manhattan Beach! The food is to savor, and the staff is incredibly friendly/ helpful. Last week I was having a hard time finding a reservation. I called around 7pm, probably the restaurant's busiest time, and spoke with an Ariana. She was so sweet and patient with me, providing me a number of alternative times that might work till I found one that fit my groups schedule. I thought this went pretty above and beyond. She was definitely busy but she chose to help me personally when she could have just told me to check open table for availability (like some of the other restaurants I called). Ordered the prime rib dip before heading to a concert. Best sandwich ever. Then the butter cake for dessert, highly recommend too. The berries on top of the cake add just the right sweetness. Fun, easy date night. I use to order the salmon every time I went to Nick's, but recently switched it up to the Bistro plate. The bistro plate is a well balanced meal and gives you little bit of everything - soup, salad, protein and carbs. You'd be sick in the head to not get the butter cake. Literally the best butter cake of all time. I'd even go as far as saying best dessert I've ever had. Sometimes my boyfriend and I stop by just for butter cake. It's that good. read more

I had lunch with out-of-town visitors at Nick's and it was a good choice. I think they are popular with breakfast/brunch, but since it was after noon, we were given lunch/dinner menu. I booked a table using Open Table which was convenient. The overall service was consistent - our table was served by multiple servers, and they were all friendly and professional. Excellent place for a upscale breakfast. We sat outside on the cover patio. Chairs were comfortable and the scenery appealing. Service was ok but polite. So for such an occasion, I'd still come back. But foodwise, there's definitely better options in the South Bay. Don't get me wrong, it wasn't bad, but it was not very memorable in the world of chicken and waffles, and probably not worth the calories. It definitely needed to be served with syrup, which I requested (it was way too dry without it). 04.01.2018 We saw the Laguna Beach location one time driving down in that area and were surprised to see they had a location hear in Manhattan Beach, so we decided to finally try it. We shared the Asparagus fries, which were lightly battered and fried to perfection. The asparagus inside was crisp and each bite with a dip of some ranch dressing was yummy. I just wish there were more. I know I could've eaten more... LOL! H had the Cheeseburger with french fries (of course!) and was extremely happy and hungry because she ate the WHOLE thing. There isn't a Kid's menu listed, so just ask your server and they will happily go down the list of typical kid's menu items. Little O ordered the kid's salmon which came with french fries and carrots with ranch dressing. She inhaled it and ate all the french fries that were left on everyone else' plates. Hubby had the Blackened Fish Sandwich with french fries. The slaw that topped the sandwich went well with the fish. The fish was okay tasting. He did eat most of it but I'm thinking it wasn't very flavorful as he didn't really enjoy it. But it was good. I had the Seafood Enchiladas, which came with black beans and white rice. The enchiladas had a green sauce which was flavorful. The enchiladas were filled with a lot of prawns and lobster. They were cooked well, not over done, because they were soft and moist, not rubbery. The black beans had a little spicy kick to it. The white rice was just that, with a few pieces of veggies in it. Nothing outstanding for those sides. Great food, great ambiance and a great crowd! I came to this Nick's after frequenting the Nick's on 2nd location since this one is closer to my house. I rolled solo and sat at the bar. Once the bartender and eye made eye contact, I gave him my order which was a dirty martini with blue cheese olives. There is nothing more that I love than a good, stiff, dirty martini and Nick's is the place to get it from! Since they have so many delicious menu items, it took me a while to figure out what I wanted. Once I did though, I settled on the Bistro plate. The plate came with a cup of the soup of the day, clam chowder, which is made fresh, bistro salad and a piece of steak on top of toast. Although the individual portions were small, the meal as a whole was filling. I really liked how the air flowed throughout the bar due to them leaving the doors open as to keep it fresh. Parking is either on the street if you can find some and in a paid lot right across from the restaurant. Easily already one my favorite places to frequent! I will be back! read more

A Manhattan Beach staple - solid food and plenty of space in the restaurant. It works well for business lunches as well. I like sitting on the patio where you can people watch. During weekends, parking can be a little bit tough due to the beach crowd, but you can either try to the public parking lot nearby or try to snag one of the metered spots. Staff have generally been quite friendly and I've never felt poorly served. I enjoy all their salads and their chicken & waffles as well. Hard to go wrong. Reservations for lunch in particular have never been difficult. I have yet to go for dinner service but definitely wouldn't mind giving it a shot. They have a few tv's as well for people who are trying to catch a game, but might have to get the right table. Overall, a nice part of the Manhattan Beach restaurant scene and a place that I will continue to frequent. read more
