Best bar food I've ever had. Huge menu (which is always a concern because sometimes it means they can't do it all well)--yet everything we ordered was perfect. Fried jalapenos were great, as were the fried cheese ravioli. The cheesesteak was one of the best sandwiches I've ever had. The service is some of the best I've had (slow to start but there was a party the server was trying to close out right when we showed up and we started at the bar so as not to rush him). The server was incredibly helpful and friendly, without stalking our table. Bill was moderate despite us leaving godawful full of food and slightly tipsy. I love that they are SUPER dog friendly and the fellow patrons were all polite and seemed to be enjoying themselves. We were bummed thinking we wouldn't be able to find a good neighborhood bar once we moved out to this neighborhood. We stand happily corrected. If you're looking for an old school, East coast vibe dive of a place-this is it. The food here is much higher quality than typical bar fare-everything we've had has been really good-especially the salads, pastas, and sandwiches. I love that they get their hoagie rolls from Philly-the food is as good as any South Philly pub. The bartenders are really friendly and the big bar stools are comfy-I love horseshoe shaped bars. There's tons of seating inside and out and way too many televisions-so you won't miss anything if sportsball is your thing. I've been coming here for quite some time. This place has a lot of tv's everywhere to watch sports. They also do UFC PPV's but make sure you call them just in case. The pizza is alright, sometimes it might be burnt, if it is, you can tell them to make it again. Very cheesy The fish tacos are delicious but the spicy sole isn't that good. The Nickanator is the bomb! Has steak meat, chicken, onions, mushrooms, cheese, and more cheese, etc. Just meat and cheese in a casserole dish. You can ask them to add pasta to it, to make it the ultimate Mac N Cheese. The Gelato is ok, nothing spectacular. I think it might be old since I don't see a lot of people buying it. Check out their daily specials. Like on Mondays they have a 14 oz Ribeye with a baked potato and salad for about $12! ALSO! I decided to try something new. Considering that Nick's Place was close to where I live and I was driving by here after I was finished with my work so I decide to drop by. At time I arrived here parking was kind of packed, I'm guessing that it's lunch time. I did find a parking spot. I went inside not knowing what to expect. I sat at the bar I was greeted by Melinda. Melinda was very friendly and knowledgeable knowing all the specials and about all the foods on the menu. Trust me they have a lot crazy foods (which is good) they have a pizza on the menu with 16+ toppings. Anyways I wasn't that hungry so I got there Breakfast tacos. There breakfast tacos were like stacked with all kinds of vegetables eggs sausage and the order comes in three large tacos for $6.79 I did manage to finish it all and they were tasty too. This is a fun bar to watch your team play. There are plenty of TVs to watch. The food and drink specials are great. This is not a fancy bar by any means, just a good place to have a beer and not healthy food. I really enjoyed the pepperoni pizza. My friend celebrated her 30th birthday here Funday Sunday style. We sat out on the patio and watched football, ate pizzas and apps, drank cold beers, and took way too many shots to count. I thought the pizza here was delicious. It was super cheesy and a huge mess to eat, but totally worth it. This place has TVs everywhere! If there is a game on, you should be able to see it from wherever you are sitting. We had two servers checking on us and our table varied from around 10-20 guests throughout the afternoon. The servers were very attentive and extremely accommodating with the bill. We had some friends pay as they were leaving, and others pay at the end. Came here for a Mavs vs Rockets game and this place was PACKED. My group got lucky and all found parking and a table to fit all of us. I would say overall the pizza is good and then rest of the food is bar food. Have been there several times. Amazed that it keeps getting better. I love the pizza and the staff. The owners are often there (always a plus) and the Managers work like it is their own. Why didn't I get the pizza sooner?!?! I regret the number of times I've gone inside the loop thinking my favorite pizza was there. When all along, it was hiding in plain sight. Nick's Place is awesome! It's a lovely, friendly neighborhood bar with amazing food. I've been coming here for over 10 years and I love it! Nick himself is always there and making sure everyone is happy. The service is top-notch! I've been here for all of the Astro's post-season games, and despite being super busy, Sarah has really taken care of us. Our drinks were never empty. As far as food goes, Nick's has the best pizza in town and their Philly Cheesesteak is amazing (Nick told me they get their bread flown in from Philly). How did I not know about this place before! I moved to Houston about 7 months ago. I've been looking for a place to watch football games. It's amazing. They play every single game. Every. Single. Game. On top of that, they're food is on point! Last night had the Philly cheesesteak. Delicious! Fries were crispy and hot! Also tried the spicy slaw. So good! This morning had the breakfast tacos. My friends came in from out of town and we were looking for a place to have dinner after 10pm on a Thursday night. I hopped on Yelp and Nick's was the closest restaurant nearby so we decided to give it a shot. Honestly, when we arrived, we were a bit concerned because there were only men outside and several motorcycles. My friends appeared spooked, but I insisted that we go inside. Although that didn't exactly make things better, considering we were the only females in the room (apart from a couple of waitresses). Anyway, we ordered our little starving hearts away and were pleasantly surprised. The food was delicious (We had the wings and a grilled chicken sandwich). Our waitress was also beyond kind and made us feel like family. She said if the owners had been there hey would've sat down and chatted with us. We did end up being bugged by a couple of drunken men who asked us if we were MMA wrestlers. It was strange, but that won't keep me away. FOOD IS AMAZING! Late night delivery too! Daytime bartender Melinda (I think that's her name) has to be one of the sweetest ladies behind the bar that I've met. She was our server our first visit, she was welcoming and helpful she made our first trip amazing!! We were eager to come back. Pros: great food with big portions at good prices. ALOT of menu items to choose from. They also deliver till midnight! Drinks are also great priced. The ladies room is beautiful and CLEAN. Lots of TVs. Lots of planned activities on various nights. Like movie night. A great casual neighborhood bar. They even have a food challenge, yep scarf down that monstrous calzone and get your picture on the wall! Cons: unlike our daytime server the night time bar staff seems grumpy/unhappy and unfamiliar with the products they serve. Most of the time when ordering tequila we had to just point out the bottle. One night the server seemed to be under the influence of some type of "upper" grinding his teeth, jittery, unable to make eye contact, and talking extremely fast to the point that people had a hard time understanding him. Love this place. Recommended by a friend, so I finally stopped by with my girl to watch some playoff football last week (Seahawks @ Panthers, Steelers @ Denver). Very chill atmosphere, wasn't super crowded, but the food was freaking fantastic. I snacked on the cheesey poofs and had Hopadillo IPA by Karbach, while my girl got the spaghetti and meatballs. She LOVES Italian food especially places like Olive Garden, Auntie Pastos, etc... But this is now her favorite Italian food place, which is a huge plus for me because it's a ritual for me to watch football on Sunday's wether or not my Texans are playing. Nick's Place has a very special place in my heart. On the very first night my husband and I moved into our home, we decided to stop by here and order a couple of pizzas and beers. The pizza was fantastic and I was so happy to have a decent pizza place nearby. I have since ordered from Nick's many times and have always been satisfied. The last 2 times I ordered though I have had issues. The first was pretty minor. I added jalapeños to my order (which costs $1.75) but did not receive it. I called the store and Nick himself had said he would adjust my order next time. I was still ok, and it really didn't affect me much. I didn't even bother mentioning the adjustment this past time when I ordered. Now I wish I had. You see when you add delivery, tax, and tip, one pizza comes out to just over $30. On my end, I thought I was going to get the same great quality I have come to expect from Nick's. That was just not the case tonight. The ingredients were great but sparse and when I received my order, I assumed there was a mistake because I didn't ask for a thin crust pizza but that's what I got. I called the store and the lady over the phone stated that unless I specify that I want a "thick crust pizza", I wouldn't get one. I didn't understand...I just wanted a normal pizza and this wasn't it. When I brought up the scarcity of toppings, she stated that's how they're made...that didn't resolve anything. The parking for this good sized bar with a patio is very limited. I had to park across the street but luckily the weather was chill enough for a nice walk. I had Newcastle and fried jalapenos, which were delicious. All the while the smell of baked pasta was drifting from the kitchen. I think their happy hour special for that was $7 all you can eat, but I did not have a big enough appetite. Next time perhaps? We sat at a table at first but no one ever came to get our order so we moved over to an empty bar. I like the calm vibes and there's a patio you can sit in and enjoy company. This is more like a laid back bar and food scene to hang out after work. I was wearing a tank top and jeans nothing fancy, just casual. I like there food because it's not pricey and it's has great taste. I ordered the tuna croissant and onion rings for 7$ I believe. Plus it was happy hour on the beer and a Texas drink. Loved the price and the quality!!! The waitress checked up on us a couple times and had a friendly attitude. Ordered delivery from Nicks Place at 9:30 on a Sunday (which was super clutch considering most places stop delivering at 8) . Delivery was quick, food was prepared in extremely large portions. It was HOT and tasty. I ordered the fish tacos, which were good but I probably wouldn't order again if I were dining in. My S/O got the baked ziti which was good, a little under seasoned but great for exactly what it was. Late night, delivery food. Food also came with a FREE macron which was delicious & a great surprise! The only downside , I specifically asked the delivery driver to CALL and not knock or ring the door bell (due to my children being asleep) which he didn't do. I like the food at NIcks, which is a weird thing to say about a sports bar. However, prior to being just a Nicks Place - there was also a Little Italy that served coffee and pasta and pastries. Sadly, they closed Little Italy and conjoined it with Nicks Place. So I go to Nicks to eat and have coffee and catch some sports. I like it a bit better than your regular run of the mill sports bar because it serves more than just beer and wings. The restrooms can stand a little improvement though. read more

07/31/14 Update: Went back again last night. Cheesy poufs are crispy and cheesy but not greasy. I don't know if they're made there or not but it sure tastes like they are. Last Saturday we had finished moving to an apartment in the same part of town and went to Nick's for lunch. He ordered the crab-stuffed jalapenos (real crab not Krab) and they were just outstanding. I ordered the stuffed mushrooms and it tastes as though they make their red sauce in house. Yummy. He hates mushrooms but he loved the sausage stuffing and marinara so well that he left the mushrooms for me and ate the rest with the garlic bread. It was my boyfriend's first visit to Nick's and he is so in love with the place we went back the same day to pick up pizza to go for dinner. Folks, this should definitely be on the list of the best pizza in town. They still use quality ingredients and the staff still treats you like you're a friend and they just happen to be serving food to you. And if you love sports? This is the place to be - there isn't a bad seat in the house because there are TVs everywhere. The patio is even dog-friendly with lots of fans to help keep you cool. If you're looking for the latest hotspot or "to be seen" this is not the place for you. But if you want great food that is not overpriced, served by wonderful people then this will be your new favorite place. Note: Parking is a little difficult.
