Great neighborhood sports/dive bar. Most of the food ive had has been excellent, notably the philly and the pizzas. Weak beer selection but as long as they have st arnold im happy. Parking can be tight but thats not my problem because i walk there :). All in all, highly reccommended place to watch a game or just hang out. read more

The first couple of times I came here-- the food was OK but the service sucked (pasta dish was not tasty, but the pizza was great!)... But I let it go because we went for the NFL Draft and the big Mayweather fight which were busy nights. We still had a good time. About a week later, I ordered food for delivery from Nick's and ended up getting sick for two weeks after having the meatball sub. My boyfriend had a little of everything else we order instead of the sub and never got sick. So I narrowed it down to that. I had to be put on two different anti-bacterial and anti-fungal treatments. I also was on a leave of absence from work in order to recover. I personally will never go back here-- but I can't say it is all bad. My recommendation is to maybe just stick with the drinks-- but if you have to eat: stay away from the meatball sub and the pasta dishes, Just get pizza and beer. read more

A good dive might sound like an oxymoron but Nick's is it. The beer is cold. The staff and clientele are cool (or at least eclectic). The food is good. The decor may be suspect but who cares about decor if you get the beer, people and food right. Perfect place to take your mother in law for Easter brunch if she is a beer girl. It's a pretty good place to eat. Good food at good prices, you've really got to try the Cheesy Poofs when you're down there. If a place has a shrimp po'boy I've got to try it, and I loved what they had at Nick's. I don't know if it's a place that you want to hang out and chill for a while, mostly I wanted to eat my meal and go. It sounds ridiculous for a sports bar to receive 5 stars but Nick's Place is worth it!! I make a trip everytime I go to Houston. I have had the breakfast, lunch, and dinner: all amazing!! The staff is always excited to see their clients, and don't even get me started on the bathrooms :) The ladies' room is immaculate!!!! They deliver late (up to midnight on weekdays and two on weekends) Its amazing to be able to get something yummy when all the other places are closed. This place is AWFUL! Got a delivery. RIP off. I got the 'Gelato Brownie Sundae', what a load of rubbish! It didn't come in the form of a Sundae instead came separately. Frozen brownie, cheap ice cream in a paper container, mushy cherry...generally disgusted. Presented as though it were being fed to a dog! Then I got the 'Big Daddy', expecting to have a lovely delicious omelette with toasted bread as described, instead, I got tasteless egg and beef sandwich. This place is awesome for watching the football or hockey game. My boyfriend and I love to go up there and play golden tee all the time. Its located in such an awesome spot, because the machine is out of the way from regular patrons, but still in a good spot to see any TV you please! Wes has been nothing but kind to us up at Nick's place. He always knows our drink orders, and bring them in a jiffy. The food is delicious as well. So I am super hungry and decided to try this place based off the Yelp reviews. I wanted to try one of their burgers but sadly I didn't get a chance to even experience that. I walked in and instantly felt unwelcome. There was no warm greeting from the bartender/server or any other staff member at that. I wanted to place an order to go, but there was no designated to go area, so I just grabbed a seat at the bar. I watched the bartender/hostess/server/cashier pour a few shots for the hand full of souls that were in there. She walked by me a good total of about 30 times and only acknowledged my presence ONCE mumbling "Be right with ya". There was a busboy with dreads who asked me a couple of times if I was okay, which I appreciated, but sadly this lady was the one who would have to take my order. After 10-15 mins of sitting there going between my phone and the Falcons game on TV, she came my way. I asked for a menu which she placed in front of me and continued on her way. Can you believe another 10 mins went by and she hadn't returned? I politely excused myself and went home hungry. I'd rather go to McDonalds the next time I have a burger craving. I work in customer service and understand it's importance to running a successful business. This restaurant needs to either thoroughly re-train this lady or replace her all together. Drove 25 minutes for a lunch sandwich after reading menu online. Got there 12:40 pm, two patrons in there. Sat down ordered a regular cola and a italaian sausage sub with fries. Got cola and it was cherry flavored, told waiter he brought me another one. Same flavor but less cheeryish. Must be in the dirty nozzles. 20 minutes later got sandwich. Fries not brown but warm. Sandwich was italian sub not sausage. Waiter said it was their error, but I decided to not wait another 20 minutes. Paid for cola and left not to come back again. The rpoblem I have was they couldn't get my order straight when there were only 2 other patrons in the place. read more

Fun place! Best bar food in Houston as far as I'm concerned. Great pizza(besides the buffalo pizza). A lot of other great Italian dishes, kitchen is open late! Friendly environment with people from all walks off life. They usually have the talk radio guys in there broadcasting live from Nicks. Its a fun place to go for a true sports fan. Okay firstly, they DO deliver, the info up there is incorrect. I ordered a burger and cheese fries. The driver said they got the wrong address from the bar so it took about an hour for my food to arrive. Was cold when it got here but the microwave fixed that. Burger was good but not great, although I would order again if I were in the mood for a burger and wanted it delivered. Been here a few times before with a solid experience. Tonight, however, I waited 15 minutes at the bar for my drink (a pitcher of beer). This is after waiting 10 minutes to be acknowledged. Only after all this, my girlfriend and I were accosted by an employee, clearly drunk, wearing a Nicks Place polo shirt. He was loud, demonstrative and intrusive, while we were trying to watch the game. If this is allowed for employees then this wont be a place I return to. read more

My workplace just had Nick's Place cater an event today. The lasagna was absolutely delicious! The salad was crisp and cold and the homemade italian dressing was fantastic. The bread was perfect too. Just discovered Nick's today!! Was immediately greeted by a staff member and told to sit wherever we'd like. They have a great porch area, a few fans, shade, tv, and you can even bring your pups. we decided to stay inside. They have an entire wall lined with tv with sports channels on. Friendly environment, friendly waitress. HUGE menu selection. Food was just good. Portion sizes are huge. Fries are amazing. It's a bit of a hidden gem. This place is terrible - old, rundown and lacking the biker bar charm of some other old run down "joints". Food was both tasteless and like eating something from a frozen food package that had been microwaved. I had an appetizer and pizza, neither of which remotely resembled the pictures on this site. I mean nothing like what is pictured here. Service was OK - drinks weren't anything to brag about and wasn't that cheap either. Half bar, half food, half epileptic fit inducing TV control room two doors away from a murdered out Thai massage place, down from the hookah bar with free wifi....Nick's is great. Our office will hit Wednesday Spaghetti, or any day for a calzone or a burger. This is a pretty cool dive bar. There are tv's on tv's on tv's everywhere you look. Every time I've been here the food was disappointing. Maybe I'm ordering the wrong things. The wings had missing meat where it didn't wrap all the way around. We found a hair on the dish so just stopped eating it and didn't say anything. Wouldn't even want it replaced. I also had a Bloody Mary and it was so bad. I'll stick to liquor with one mixer next time, since it's a dive bar not a restaurant (what was I thinking). If you want a great restaurant/bar to watch sports, Nicks is it. Some of my friends had got in the habit of going to a corporate chain place to watch the fights and I started going there, but eventually I got tired of the bland mediocre corporate food of that type of chain sports bar and decided to take another look at my options. I ended up at Nick's and was glad I did. They have a lot of tv sets and they keep the volume loud enough to hear because they aren't trying to double as some corporate steakhouse alternative to applebees. Seating was good even on a big fight night. They are known for calzones apparently and my calzone was good. Like others said, not gourmet, but it was hot and full of cheese and toppings and good enough to feel guilty about, which is sometimes exactly what you want with beer and a game. I also tried some macaroni that came with pizza toppings, and found the ham was not a good combo, but the ricotta cheese was genius. I had some kind of iced irish coffee drink too that was good for a little charge after a long day. Overall, Nick's is definitely a great place to kick back and watch some sports with the type of food that goes best with beer and sports. read more

With the World Cup matches coming thick and fast, I had to find a place around the corner that was both convenient and a local's tip to a tourist. I came across Nate's on Yelp and at first glance had my doubts about all the 4 star reviews it had when I first got there. It looks more like a biker's dive bar more than anything else but the food and unconventional staff made it an experience that truly lived up to my fellow Yelper's reviews. Tried their Nick's Pizza which comfortably satisfies 3 people along with their cheeseburger sticks. Not impressed by the sticks but definitely pleased with the pizza. Nick's is a true dive and the parking is horrible. But there is a reason that they have been in business for 21 years. Great food, great service and the awesome people who come here. The bartenders know me and my husband by name, even when we've been gone for a while. They serve breakfast, lunch and dinner with an Italian twist. Nick, the owner is often here interacting with customers. The pizzas and calzones are great. The happy hour lasts until 8pm. You won't find that anywhere else. Come here.
