Currently, it feels dank and dirty with no signs of welcoming any changes. We started with some shrimp cocktail and that was pretty good, sauce was tasty. The halibut was actually quite good and cooked to perfection - the crab on top was really good too -- it came on a bed of linguini which was too much -- I didn't really eat that. My date had the filet special with a lobster sauce -- it looked really rich and the portion was huge! He couldn't even eat it all. Overall I enjoyed my meal, I was quite full when we left, LOL! I didn't catch how much the total cost was but I think it had to have been at least $200 -- so definitely some dough will be dropped! But for a special occasion it is worth it.

REAL STORY: A friend of mine began training at Nicks and was super excited about it as this year has been difficult, to say the least, and tough financially for many of us. On her personal Facebook account, she maturely and openly expressed her political views only to find out that the owner's daughter of this establishment would use her political stance against her. My friend received a Direct Message saying "looks like you'll be out of a job soon!" and to find out hours later from her manager that they no longer need her. I mean..how messed up is that?! Nicks daughter is a bully and you're better off finding a different Italian spot that doesn't discriminate against their worker's political views. read more

I ordered a vegetarian pasta dish pretty much the shrimp scampi with no shrimp as I am vegetarian for religious purposes. They served me my pasta with shrimp and it when I brought the order to the owner Nick's attention he simply took the dish to the back and removed the shrimp and told me they remade it. Last night we ordered to go and when we opened the gnocchi it was no where near the usual small, light potato puffs I usually love. Large thick doughy blocks in minimal sauce. The bread pairs perfectly with the burrata. For the mains my husband ordered the tagliatelle which comes with bolognese sauce. He got this both times we came because it's just that good. I ordered the gnocchi the first time and the paccheri the second time. Both so delicious. The gnocchi was very rich and creamy with lots of mushrooms. The gnocchi pasta had a great flavor and texture. The paccheri comes with a huge portion of sauce with sausage and tomatoes and basil, the flavor is amazing. The pasta itself (paccheri noodle) is the best noodle I've ever had, cooked perfectly al dente, it has such a nice texture, so chewy. You can tell everything is homemade and fresh. For drinks we both got a glass of the Cabernet which was very nice, $15/glass. Something shocking happened at a table next to us at our most recent visit. Our table was right next to the kitchen. One of the waitresses was bringing our pastas to our table and she slipped walking down the steps from the kitchen to the dining room. She accidentally dropped my plate of pasta which caused the ceramic dish to break into many pieces. Obviously this is an accident and the waitress feels awful dropping a plate of fresh food, who would want to make her feel any worse?? The table next to us. A table of four, two couples. That table was incredibly rude, started yelling that the "glass" flew and hit one of the men and demanding the entire meal be comped. The dish wasn't even glass lady... I was shocked by this woman's behavior - she was speaking so loudly, bad mouthing the restaurant, demanding meal be free, cussing, saying they're never coming back and that it's a terrible restaurant. Just nasty behavior. It was my pasta dish so that means we waited longer to get a new plate. Did I care?? Absolutely not. I felt awful to all the staff at the restaurant that had to interact with this person. Her husband finally started telling her to calm down and sent her out to wait in the car while they finished paying. During this whole interaction my husband and I just observed the madness and waited patiently for our food without a complaint. Two waiters (maybe owners?) came over and asked us if we were okay, apologized, and offered a free glass of wine. We didn't want the wine, or anything for free, but they insisted. We talked to our waiter about how rude they were being and agreed that it's best if that group never returned. I felt called to write this review to show how incredible this restaurant truly is, not just because their food is so tasty and fresh. We had so many staff come to our table and be so kind, generous, and warm. I can imagine this rude woman might go leave a negative review and I just need people who read reviews to know the truth - the lady was the problem NOT the restaurant. I can't understand this behavior, so entitled and ignorant. Thank you to everyone at Casa Mia, we had a wonderful night and will be coming back and bringing our loved ones. By the way - we live in downtown Phoenix so we drive about 30 min to get to Casa Mia, and it's 100% worth it.

The dish does not appear on the online menu so I presume it's a newer item. For dessert I had the Coconut Sorbet. I should note there was no dessert menu and the waiter went over the choices with me. The Coconut Sorbet was rich and creamy although frozen quite hard. Overall I give the restaurant 4 stars. The service was excellent and the restaurant comfortable and inviting. The bar area was crowded which demonstrates the popularity of this location. I give it my recommendation.

Unfortunately, what made this experience so disappointing was the way our very reasonable complaint was handled by the owner. We did not receive what we ordered and politely brought it to the restaurant's attention. Rather than simply acknowledging the mistake and correcting it, the owner became defensive and then proceeded to complain about our table to other customers in the restaurant. It was incredibly unprofessional and, frankly, quite uncomfortable to have the owner discussing our complaint with other tables instead of addressing the situation directly with us. We were made to feel as though we had done something wrong simply by pointing out that we had not received the food we ordered. As the owner, you set the tone for the entire establishment. Customers should never be made to feel embarrassed or criticized in front of other diners for raising a legitimate concern. A simple apology and professional handling of the situation would have completely changed our experience. Unfortunately, the owner's attitude and handling of the situation left a far worse impression than the original mistake itself. Good customer service is about how you treat people when something goes wrong--and in this case, that part was seriously lacking. We will not be returning and would caution others to be prepared for a very different level of customer service than we expected.
