Excellent food. Staff were very busy but thorough. Space is too small for the popularity of the place. Reservations are essential.

We were hoping this would be a small gem since it's so close to home. Unfortunately, we were disappointed. Cold rolls, old iced tea (you know that taste when it sits out for a couple days), and when dinner came the plates were cold (like out of the fridge type cold, very odd). The food wasn't cold but when placed on cold plates, it wasn't hot either. Food was ok but nothing to write home about. Waiter was nice enough but not very helpful when asked questions about the menu. Overall, instead of adding a cozy little italian place to our list we crossed a "less than average" place off. For a local place, not too far from home, Nicks Italian works. I love their salads, especially for lunch. Pizza deal is great too. I have to be honest though, the past few times we called for "to go" orders, they never say THANK YOU and or a GOODBYE just the phone hanging up on us. I mean, come on! We're spending OUR money at your business and you can't even treat us with some gratitude when we place an order to go, especially when there are other restaurants competing for business??? O.k., there is my rant. I'll come back for lunch but I am saying goodbye to "orders to go" only because you all are not very pleasant on the phone. This is a simple-looking Italian restaurant in a small strip shopping center, but don't let the looks deceive you. The menu is varied, and every dish I've tried has been fantastic. The Calzone is stuffed full of excellent cheese and whatever ingredients you choose to add. It's sized as a meal for two. The lobster raviolis are excellent, with lots of real lobster chunks. No fake fillers or small quantities here. Even the salads are exceptionally prepared and great. It's a little ways from the more commercial parts of the city, but worth driving out to. read more

On 11-4-20 I called in a pizza order to go for two pizzas from Nicks. I drove to the restaurant, paid for them, put them in the car then drove back home. When I got home and opened the boxes we discovered it was [not] what we ordered. We ordered ...... 1) A medium thin crust margherita pizza with the standard toppings of cheese, olive oil, basil, garlic and tomatoes. 2) A medium thin crust "double pepperoni" pizza with extra cheese. We received a medium [thick crust] margherita pizza with extra cheese, tomatoes, and no basil. The pepperoni pizza was [not] a double amount of pepperoni as we requested, and had divots from where there were once pepperoni slices but disappeared. Meaning, where pepperoni slices were once placed on the pizza, had been removed. It looked like someone picked at it then put the pizza back in the box. I called Nick's to complain. They put me on hold for a long time then hung up on me. I called back again to continue my conversation with the manager. I requested for them to make it right, by making the 'correct pizzas' that we ordered and deliver them to us. They refused to do so because they said they were "too busy" and didn't offer delivery and would not consider a credit for a future pizza. Based on the poor customer service and poor product, we will [NOT] be patrons of Nick's ever again. It's sad. They had an opportunity to make it right but didn't. read more

Pretty average. Ordered the eggplant which took forever to reach my table. Was fine but nothing extraordinary. Table was a tad sticky, decor nothing to speak of, and lighting looks like it hasn't been updated since 1982. Decidely elderly clientele. Saw this on our way home today and decided to stop in - not a lot of stuff in the little strip mall so I assumed it was just a pizza place. Boy was I wrong. As soon as you walk in the door you see that it's a little more special than 'just another pizza place'. It's clean and cozier than I expected from the outside. My husband ordered the Spaghetti Bolognese and I ordered Chicken Ravioli. Their pastas are handmade (I didn't review the entire menu close enough to see if they all are, but there was quite a good selection of home made pasta). The garlic bread is VERY yummy, I had a piece while we waited for dinner and then used a couple more to schmutz around in the pink sauce served with my ravioli. Our waiter was Anthony - and he looked like he was from New York for sure! He was very polite, he and the other gentleman were very attentive. There was a cute blonde gal working tables, too, she was a little chatty for me - just when I was ready to point out how chatty she was to my husband she started talking about how good the pizza was at some other restaurant. Then she mentioned that their pesto was better than "ours". Um. . . . Really? Then she mentions something about another restaurant to yet another table before we left this evening. I neglected to do my Review from the restaurant, so I forgot what that particular subject was about. Quite annoying to hear the wait staff discuss what they like about another restaurant, over THEIR restaurant..... especially annoying when it's the same food type as the one that they work in. Nonetheless, we loved Nick's and will be going back. Maybe next time we'll try their pizza, I've ready a couple of reviews about how good it is. read more

Great local spot! Casual dining with amazing food!! My favorite Italian spot in the valley.

I've never eaten there before and I heard the food is pretty good, but this place is despicable. My brother just lost his son to cancer and when he called to inquire about catering for 150 people for the post funeral reception he was met with a very rude employee that gave him an attitude about the inconvenience about the time of the day (Saturday afternoon) and feared that my brother was only interested in appetizers (not the case). Nick's was focused on the hard/fast sell and pretty much hung up on my brother. Not exaggerating here. Advice to the owner is you should hire mature employees that understand in life what comes around goes around. While your restaurant has 4 out of 5 stars on Yelp you need to get over yourselves. read more

Absolutely the worst Italian food I've ever had. My chicken parmigiana didn't have any .... CHICKEN in it! It was breading, cheese, and sauce! Literally no sign of chicken. Spaghetti tasted like cardboard and had very little sauce, and, I ordered forks as I was in a hotel and there were none. Try eating spaghetti in a hotel with no fork. read more

We've gone to Nicks many times last night was a shocker in cost. Ordering from the menu on line and going to pick up the prices were way different than the web. In calling back I was told they can't update their web site. 1st time to Nick's based off of yelp comments and was not disappointed! The service was great. The prices were wonderful. The food was YUMMY! I typically get penne with red sauce and sausage. This was the first time I ran out of pasta prior to running out of sausage! That's what I call loading it up with the good stuff! Also had a house salad which was an extra $4 or so (bummer that not included). A variety of different breads to warm you up. Save room for the tiramisu! Even if no room left, make some. Made fresh in house daily and probably some of the best ever. I'm a value guy. If soup or salad was included with the dinner, would have received 5 stars. Not knocking it in any way because it didn't. I'll be going back and see myself becoming a regular. It was obvious that everyone there was a local! read more

Excellent food and service! Real deal Italian food. The aroma when you walk in the door tells you everything you need to know. My pasta bolognese was old school and my wife's veal parmigiana melted in our mouths! The salads were crisp and the dressing was spot on! I highly recommend this place! read more

This small restaurant lacks a punch when it comes to Italian Flavors Appetizers - We ended up with Mussels, Calamari and Clams - All were delicious. Especially the red Arabiatta sauce in both the clams and mussels, were deliciously outstanding. Veal Parmigiana, Veal Marsala and Calamari Steak, Spaghetti, Baked Ziti, along with Spaghetti and Marinara Sauce, all were great according to everyone at the table. Stracciatella Soup was outstanding, according to our table. Wines - Selections of Chianti DOCG and Barolo, both were impeccable. The Chianti was labeled as DOCG which means Denomination of Controlled Origin. It's the highest designation of quality among Italian wines. Dessert - Dark Chocolate, Spumoni and Cannoli, all were delicious. After Dinner Drink - Lemoncello was delicious, but be aware, they serve it in a flute glass. Too much for an after dinner drink, in my opinion. So if you are looking for good Italian food at a great price, look no further, Nick's is your place. read more

Utterly disappointed with Nick's service. You would think that they are in this business for so long and would know how to rectify a mistake they made but instead they did absolutely nothing but with merely apologies for the mistake they made. We on the other hand, ended up driving two trips and finally get our orders corrected but with cold foods! We don't need your apologies, all we want is what we paid for and the fresh and hot foods we ordered! We are disappointed not because you made a mistake, we are upset because you did nothing. We called and ordered chicken parm and lasagna for pickup. Picked up the foods but when we got home, we found out they gave us chicken parm and eggplants without pasta instead. We took all the foods and drove all the back to the restaurant and they gave us the lasagna that was sitting there and told us we could keep the lousy eggplants that we didn't even care for. And they apologized, that was it. Really? In the restaurant business, all it takes is one utter lousy experience and you won't patron the business anymore. We have been to Nick's for more than 12 years and unfortunately tonight's experience is that one lousy experience that you will not go back (or at least we won't) and certainly will not recommend anyone to go there. There are too many Italian restaurants around this area to put up with this crappy service! read more

Last night, I took my family to Nicks for dinner after seeing a show at the Cactus Foothills Fine Arts Center (great show BTW). The entire family thoroughly enjoyed our meals. My wife and daughter both ordered the Ciopino and basically licked their plates clean. I loved the creamy fetucinni alfredo with shrimp. We all shared a nice piece of cheese cake for dessert. Even better than the food, the service was excellent. Aiyo (not sure I got the spelling correct) was both efficient and personable. Our water glasses were always full and the table was bussed efficiently without ever feeling like we were being rushed. Just a lovely evening with the family. read more

My husband and I were looking for a new favorite go-to Italian place, so we decided to try Nick's. It wasn't super busy when we arrived, and we were seated right away. We ordered a bottle of wine to start, then ordered our food. In the next 20 minutes, 2 more tables were sat near us. They got their food while we waited...and waited...and waited. The tables by us finished eating, and Carlos told us ours would be right out. Another 10 minutes goes by, and we finished our wine, left money on the table to cover the bottle, and left. We ate there twice over the last two months. I would say the overall rating is "It's ok." Spaghetti & Meatballs lacked sauce but the meatballs were good. How the hell you gonna trust a place to be authentic when they don't even know the difference between "parmesan" and "parmagiana," so they just combine them into a made up word. Excited to try this place but was very disappointed. Bought takeout and the fried calamari seemed to be days old. It was rock hard with little flavor. Portabello ravioli was also disappointing. It didn't have a mushroom flavor at all and it and extremely overpriced for 6 raviolis. The only decent thing we ordered was the caprese. I'm finally shocked! No one has reviewed Nick's on FLW? Okay, here goes! In short I love Nick's 99% of the time. The 1% I don't like it we get stuck eating at one of the "two chair" tables in the middle. Not my favorite. The food on the other hand is great, especially the pizza. My partner and I have eaten here enough that Nick recognizes us and always sends over an order of Bruschetta. Delicious. We've sampled just about everything on the menu and can't say we've had anything awful. Some of the pasta dishes could be a little better (Penne w/Pesto is one) but all in all the food is very good. We had an excellent dinner at Nick's with friends. My wife had the grilled tilapia, which was prepared nicely. I enjoyed the Chicken Carciofi, which was excellent. I judge italian food by "Is it worth me making it myself because I can do it much better or is this good enough that I don't need to do the work." I was raised making italian food and even make pasta from scratch on occasion. I tried Nick's because I got a groupon and I love trying new restaurants this way. About Nick's...I can't even make italian food this good! Everything about the food here exceeded my expectations. The appetizer antipasto combo was an amazing combination of italian meets, cheese, and bruschetta. Each item was fresh and delicious. For the main courses we had the gnocci with meat sauce and baked zitti with sausage. Both were perfect. Great sauce, fresh homemade gnocci and pasta, fabulous!!! For dessert we brought home two cannoli's because we were stuffed. Well that night we got to relive the whole expereince! The canollis are fantastic. Fresh, tasty...I really can't say enough about how good the food was. The atmosphere is great, restaurant is nice and clean, service great...I never have to cook again!!! This is absolutely my new favorite restaurant and probably the only italian restaurant I would recommend to people as being as good as mine! Conceited...I know :) read more
