It took me eight yrs to come back to Nicky's after a horribly timed stomach flu following a Greek burger. I still don't like gyros or feta, but craving a corndog, I finally caved. I dragged my son completely against his will, as he'd had the same flu experience as I and had vowed he'd never return. Thankfully, we found our trepidation was completely unfounded as the food was great, the space really clean with a nice dining area, and the staff friendly. And this time, I didn't spend 2 days whimpering on my shower floor. We both admitted we wasted those eight years when we could have been getting our fried food fix here. Everything was fresh and authentic, I had the Gyro and extra Tzatziki, and it was definitely freshly made and awesome flavors. I had a Greek salad as well, fresh and delicious dressing, my friend had ribs dinner, so I was able to try them as well. They were Fire, so good I ordered a half slab to take home. Went to Nicky's in Naperville since many other Nicky's has been pretty consistent and tasty. Sadly not this time around. I ordered the chicken on a pita. Simple, but this time it had no flavor, chewy and very small portion. The onion rings are over cooked and over priced $4.99 for something that should not be that high priced. I've been going to Nicky's for 15 plus years and they have some of the best 'fast' food, most variety on a single menu not to mention a wide selection of Greek food such as souvlaki, Greek potatoes, rice, Greek chicken. Probably the best gyros in the area as well. Owners are very friendly and clearly doing their best to keep the business going during COVID. If you haven't tried, this is a must try. I'm sorry we have loved you for many years but each time is getting worse and today put us over the top. Our last five visits the customer service is awful and has completely gone down hill. The same person at the register barely greets you and is crabby or rude. I'm also sad to say the same goes for the owner who use to be friendly. I get that it is a stressful time but be kind to the people who have supported you for 10 plus years. Today we had a gyro combo and my son had a hotdog combo. Eh, purely ok. Nothing special. Ribs are subpar. Can get far better at other local places. Burgers are just so/so. The burger to bun ratio is off. Too much bun not enough meat. The worst gyro I ever had they just slice meat and don't reheat it on the grill top and throw it on a cold pita. It was some old tomatoes and big thick cut raw onions. This was my first visit to Nicky's I opted for the gyro I haven't eaten an gyro in more years than I can count. It tasted good and the tzatziki sauce was satisfying the fries were great as well. Would I order it again yes! But it wasn't the gyro I remember getting at the greek restaurant in Wisconsin I use to frequent. I just ragged on Portillo's for how their hot dogs have gone downhill since they were sold, so I had to come rave about Nicky's! I get mine with "everything" - yes, "peppers, too". And they're delicious!! Aside from the dogs, the gyros are to-die-for; the Greek chicken & potatoes - OMG!; the cod dinner with homemade tarter sauce is SO good; and the banana shakes are a destination treat all on their own. The staff is kind of bi-polar, but hey - it's not easy being a human. Keep feeding me delicious food, and I'll keep coming back! read more

had lunch there order half chicken with two side salads. the owner charged me 1.25 per salad not greek salad which would be a up charge. I told him never mind, I'm not going to pay 1.25 per salad when the half chicken comes with two sides. so I ordered one side salad and greek potato. my order came out to 15. 53 that is when I noticed the upcharge for the side Salad. its a family ran business so who can you report rudeness to??? the older guy over charged me and when I went back to the counter to discuss my overcharge which should have been 12.00 he got very loud and rude. At Nicky's, you order at the register and wait for your number to be called. I prefer to be waited on, but I guess I saved a $3 tip. I ordered the gyros platter with 2 sides: Greek salad and Greek potatoes, for $11. It's a pity Nicky's doesn't have a liquor license because a beer would have made the meal complete. I ate the Greek potatoes first because they were still hot. What makes an Idaho potato Greek? Lemon juice. Squeeze a lemon on any food and it is instantly Greek-style. The potatoes were really yummy. I poured the drippings on my salad. I am glad I chose the Greek salad for my extra side because it was fresh and crisp, had 2 kalamata black olives, and 2 chunks of feta cheese in it. The house vinegar & oil dressing was delicious, too. So far, so good. Next the platter. The bread was fluffy and warm. There were a few tomato slices and raw onions for the serious gyro eater. I made a sammich with tatziki sauce, but I wasn't happy with it. The sauce was more like mayonnaise and the meat had been sliced earlier and sat under a lamp, as far as I could tell. So 2-stars on the gyro... but they have so many other dishes, and both the salad and the potatoes were super. Also, they were friendly and the place was full of Greek patrons, always a good sign. It was my first time getting my gyro on at Nicky's Red hots. We ordered a gyros sandwich my husband got a chicken bowl. We were too busy to dine in so we got it to go. Everybody was friendly a nice at the register. The food smelled good. We got our order within minutes and ran home to dig into some gyros and french fries. I have tried the Aurora location, but didn't even realize how close the Naperville location is to me. They have a decent sized menu so it would take some effort to try all the different options I had a chicken souvlaki bowl: the portion was pretty small and I still felt hungry after finishing. It would've been nice to add more condiments like pickles and olives and include a pita like other Greek places. They advertise "the best gyros in town" which my fiance thought could be true but their gyros don't compare to Doggie Diner in Bolingbrook. We also ordered a hot dog, which was just meh. I tried Nicky's for the first time based on a friend's recommendation who swore by Nicky's over Portillo's which is across the street on Ogden, not too far away. The Italian beef with sweat peppers was delicious and the wifey had no complaints about the gyros sandwich and even the chicken strips were a big fit with the kids. Here I am back once again at Nicky's in Naperville Illinois. Today I ordered 1/2 slab of BBQ rib dinner which comes with two sides and two garlic breadsticks. Total amount $15.01. Ribs typically are more expensive at restaurants and high-risk purchase if you ask me. There's nothing worse than paying a higher price for BBQ ribs and leaving dissatisfied. Not at Nicky's in my opinion. The apps that barbecue ribs came with 2 breadsticks, Fry's and a baked potato. I definitely left satisfied and full. Let's begin the review. 1/2 slab BBQ ribs. Served with a sweet barbecue sauce, the BBQ ribs were definitely tender and fell right off the bone. They had a nice Smoky flavor with slight crisp to the bite. I would like the rate the barbecue ribs a three and a half out of five. Personally I had lower expectations but Nicky's surprised me. The french fries The french fries had a nice thick cut to them with a crunchy outside and a hot soft inside. However they come unsalted on season which leaves them very plain. So it is up to you to season it yourself with salt or pepper. Garlic bread sticks Two thin soft hot garlic bread sticks serve with your meal. They were pretty decent in my opinion. They had a good flavor to them and we're portioned well. Baked potato The baked potato was great. Came with two sides of butter and daisy sour cream. The Baked potato came hot wrapped in tinfoil. Not too much to say about a baked potato for we all know what one taste like. Conclusion For $15 you can't beat the generosity. Half slab of BBQ ribs, garlic bread sticks, a side of fries, and a baked potato. Money well spent. Have a great family environment as well. I can tell girl who took my order was the owner's daughter along with the brother who served my number. I love to see family-owned independent businesses grow and become successful. Their menu has so many different choices there's no way you couldn't find something you would like to here. Plenty of tables to eat on the inside and there are also tables on the patio outside. Great location right next to downtown Naperville on Ogden and Washington. I will definitely be coming back again and next time I'm getting the full slab. read more

I have been coming to this place for years, and I like it a lot. Good italian beef, great fish and chips. But yesterday my family had a very weird experience. My dad stopped in to pick up something for me (at home); I asked for fish and chips since that's what I always get these days. When he went to order the woman at the counter told him "we don't have that and we've never had it." He knew for a fact this was wrong because he's been with me when I ordered it! But to make sure, he called me at home. I looked at the menu online and said, "I see it right here, filet of cod. So if they got rid of it they need to update the menu, but they have definitely had it in the past!" He relayed this to the counter woman, who said, "Oh, that's a dinner! You didn't say that." (It was 5:30 at night, so not like we'd be ordering off the lunch menu...???) Rather than deal with more of this nonsense, Dad just walked out. Seriously, this is the weirdest transaction I have ever heard of. Nicky's, please get it together and train your staff on menu options, because you'll lose customers to sheer frustration otherwise. read more
